Aluminum Keyboard still sticking after firmware update

I purchased my iMac last week, and have run all the system updates. The day I bought it, one of the keys stuck momentarily, but quickly stopped, so I let it pass...since one of the udpates I ran later that day was the keyboard firmware update. Today, though, the decrease volume key stuck. And stayed stuck. To get it to stop sticking, I had to shut down the iMac, unplug it, and the plug it back in and reboot. I've searched online here and via google and saw a few references to this firmware update (Aluminum Keyboard Update 1.0):
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/aluminumkeyboardfi rmwareupdate10.html
I've downloaded the update, but it tells me it's already been run (it has, I ran it when I bought the machine). I double click the firmware updater in my utilities folder and it tells me I'm up to date... So, what now? Anyone else still having problems after the update? This *****...I finally convinced my wife to make the switch and I end up with a problem that the fix won't fix...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Robert

Did you get it fixed and how? I'm having the same problem with my iMac that I just bought. Now, I'm surfing the net for answers.
I do plan to bring my machine to the nearest service center this weekend. But, if anyone can help, please do.

  • HT203547 Thunderbolt Display Screen Still Black After Firmware Update

Mid 2014 15" MacBook Pro (retina), and Thunderbolt Display, under 1 year old.
The Display stopped waking from sleep, but it seems to only be the backlight.  When using a flashlight, I can see the image on the screen.  My computer recognizes the Display is connected.
The firmware update hasn't resolved the issue.  The article HT203547 is worthless.
Many, many other similar issues are reported in the apple community forum and in the Apple Online Store reviews for the TB Display.
I've had the Display repaired, having all of the internal components replaced.  Now, it's at an Apple Authorized Service Provider, again... for the same issue.
Last time, it was in the shop for several weeks, as the technicians had trouble resolving the issue.
Apple will continue to have it serviced and replace it, entirely, if needed.  But, that will have to be after their technicians repair the same parts 4 times.  I've barely gotten any use out of it over the past 2 months.
But, if there are inherent flaws... what can be done?  Is there any way to get a refund/credit, after 6 months or so?

    Hello JethrofromBama,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your iPhone's screen has no backlight, and is dark.  I'd like you to please follow the steps below in attempt to resolve this issue.
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

  • Aluminium Wireless Keyboard Wakes iMac After Firmware Update

    Hi All,
Not sure if anyone is experiencing the same problem, but when I put my iMac to sleep now, it wakes up randomly saying that it has lost connection with my keyboard. I have had zero issues since buying by computer, and I really dont want to have to uncheck the 'allow bluetooth devices to wake computer' option.
Is there any way to downgrade the keyboard firmware?
    Apple support please help!
    Thanks,
    Rob

I also have this problem. Since I have a wireless mouse I just turn off the keyboard when I'm done using it, and use the mouse to wake the computer. Since I've started doing this I've checked the Console for abnormal wake events in the mornings, and none have occurred (in the past couple weeks). I would have at least one a night when I left the keyboard on. I didn't notice it before the last firmware update (don't know the number right off), but it could have been occurring before.
Also, many times when I put my computer to sleep with the keyboard or the mouse, it will immediately wake back up. I've also noticed that when the keyboard is off this doesn't happen.

  • Restoring after firmware update - Ways :)

    Hi All,
Nowadays we are receiving quite a few complaints that customers are unable to restore the application after updating their firmware.  I would like all to discuss to come up with some ways to restore their applications after firmware update.
    Before updating firmware
Customer can backup his phone using Nokia PC Suite's Content Copier application.
He can store his Contacts and Messages using Nokia Communication Centre as .csv file or .txt file.
For his Contacts he can sync with pc suite supported sync applications.
Messages he can store in Memory card and he can make a backup of memory card in PC.
If he is using Nokia PC Suite for his Multimedia items he can use Image Store if he is using Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Photos if he is using Nokia OVI Suite.
For Music he can use Nokia Music Manager or Nokia Music.
Once after updating his firmware, if he is unable to restore he can get those from above said applications.
If his calendar entries are not restored(as in case of some of Nokia e 71s and Nokia N 95/95 8 GBs), for God's sake if he has got one more similar device(or device having switch application on phone), he can restore the backup file to another phone having switch application, then he can transfer his data (Contacts, Calenders etc ) to his original phone
Dear Forum members, if you have got any other work around please let me know regarding the same, which will help our customers

    Hi,
If you have issue in Nokia PC Suites, [subject to your phone's compatibility with Nokia OVI Suite 2.0.0.10 ],
you can install Nokia OVI Suite 2.0.0.10 and check if you can take backup and restore it later.
Also i would suggest to use USB for taking backup, since it will be faster than Bluetooth.  Also you can select one category at one time(say backup contacts alone, then Calendar, then messages etc and so on ....)
Its better to skip memory card backup while backup-ing other Phone data for faster backup.  Memory card backup can be done separtely(since it wont be affetcted while updating firmware, users can safely remove memory card while updating firmware)
Nowadays though recent phones has got UDP(User Data Prevention i.e., even if you update your phone's firmware, your data wont get erased ), still it is recommended to backup your phone data.
    Hope this could help
I welcome our experts to add more details related to this topic.

  • Problems after firmware update 52.0.007

    Hi,
I got my phone back after the shop fixed a problem and updated the firmware to the latest version 52.0.007.
But now I have following problems:
I can't get the calendar anymore to show up on the homescreen, even after checking the checkbox to do so
    The Radio app. is gone
Does anyone has a solution for this?
    Iwan

It may sound crazy but sometimes you need to "hard reset" device after firmware update (beware all data erased) by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself). Sometimes UDP = User Data Prersevation feature of 5800XM can carry over corrupt entries when updating.

  • Ovi Maps 3 don´t start after firmware update (6220...

    Hello!
a few days ago I installed ovi maps 3 on my nokia 6220c and it works well. Later I updated the firmware from version 03.06 to 05.15.
After firmware update ovi maps don´t start-> "Cannot open application. Install latest version from nokia.com/maps."
But Nokia Map Updater says, there are no updates for my maps.
    What´s wrong?
Can I reinstall Ovi Maps 3? Or is it possible to install Ovi Maps 3 new?
    thanks

    Hello!
The Map Updater said: "there is no update for your phone" ...because maps 3 is already installed.
But in the meantime I have found a solution!!
I downloaded maps 2.0 from the German nokia page and installed it. Later I started Map Updater and could update to Maps 3 and now it works!!!
I think the problem was: I first updated to Maps 3 and later updated the firmware. There was any older version of fixes included in the firmware update, so Maps 3 was damaged...
     thanks
    sorry for my bad English

  • Aluminum Wireless Keyboard not working properly after Firmware update 1.1

    Hi,
Well, as the subject says, my keyboard is not working properly after I updated the firmware. The problem is that several keys (delete, down arrow, brackets and apostrophe) stopped working right after I installed the update. I never dropped it or hit it. And I did not stop or interrupt or did anything during the install. I take very good care of it.
I have already tried toubleshooting with the support page, restarting the iMac, taking off the batteries, setting it up with bluetooth again, going back a week with time machine and to reinstall the firmware. So, if you have something new for me to try, I will really apreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Franco.

I have 24" iMac with the Apple wireless M&KB - I know this is basic but have you tried a fresh set of batteries? My KB will refuse to establish connection when batteries are on the weak side the firmware update may just be a co incidents. If your wireless mouse is working OK then I would guess the blue tooth is functioning.
Not sure about the 10.49 download - are your other file downloads completing properly? Are there any error messages?

  • Problem with external keyboard after firmware update

I had an external keyboard plugged into my Macbook Pro (I normally use it on my Power Mac G5). Did a software update on the Pro, had an update for the Aluminum keyboard. Didn't notice it saying not to have any external keyboards plugged in. After the software failed to update because of my external being connected, the external stopped working, both on my Macbook and on my G5 tower. When I connect a mouse to the keyboard, the mouse still works completely fine. But typing won't work.
Any idea of what I can do to fix this?

Reload the firmware update and make sure it completes.

  • Need to do a clean install after firmware update

i have to reinstall os x after the firmware update.
it wont boot up just sticks on the grey logo and sinny thing.... grrrr
will it be ok just to archive and install just leopard instead of tiger, then disc 2(the apps) then leopard??

After installing the recent keyboard firmware update, my iMac G5 refused to boot past the grey apple screen, too. Got the spinning paddle, but multiple hard shutdowns and restarts failed to get it past that point.
I ended up booting the Leopard Install DVD and tried to reboot into my backup, a Superduper clone of the drive. Wouldn't do it -- got the same result.
Used Disk Utility (on the Leopard DVD) to repair the disk/permissions. The only significant repair was this:
permissions differ on "private/var/log/secure.log," should be -rw-------, they are -rw-r-----.
Now, I don't know what that means, but maybe it's relevant.
I rebooted -- and still was unable to get past the grey screen. I tried repairing permissions a second time (and nothing unusual came up) and it still failed to fix the startup problem.
Ultimately, I was forced to do an archive and install of Leopard, which then allowed me to boot successfully.
Really disappointing -- this is the kind of thing I expect Windows users to have to deal with, not us.

  • MBP missing first letter still missing after firmware upgrade

    hahahaha
I have been waiting for... this?
I still miss as many first letters intermittently, particularly on the first word in a field or after a delay...
Great, just great. I can't wait to re-sell this MBP like I do every year, to pay half of the cost of a new one... I'll just wait until something better comes up for keyboards, mind you.

Just wanted to say it's the same for me... -.-
Maybe it's a bit more rare after the firmware update, but it definitely happens.

  • Trouble restarting after firmware update

I bought my 15 in MacBook Pro running OS X Lion 10.7.2 on Oct 6th so it's pretty much still brand new. Prior to this, I had owned a white 2006 MacBook and a 2009 MacBook Pro in addition to working on an iMac at work.
Earlier today I installed 2 firmware updates on the new MacBook Pro and when it restarted it did something I've never seen before on any of the other Macs I've worked on. When it rebooted it let out a low, long beep. Then  I heard the whir noise that signals the MacBook is starting up. I could see the indicator light come on briefly then turn back off and the entire time the screen was black. A few seconds later I heard the whir again and it repeated the cycle. It did this probably 5-6 times before it finally came up with a loading screen. It wasn't the typical startup loading screen and after a few seconds it rebooted itself one last time. When it booted up to the login page, the keyboard and track pad did not appear to be working. I may have been impatient in this but after 5-10 seconds of it being unresponseive, I pressed the power button and restarted the machine manually. Up until this point however, I had not touched the machine at all and was letting it do its thing. When it got to the login screen at first the keyboard and trackpad did not appear to work but after a second or 2 I was able to log in (hence why I say I may have been impatient).
My question is, has anyone ever experienced something like this before? I've never had a Mac unable to boot up and have to try it 6 times. I'm scared to perform any system updates at this point because I use this machine at work and for a few seconds I thought I would be the proud owner of a $2500 paper weight.

You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care and let them deal with it or post in the Lion forum area.
Doesn't matter if anyone else had or has this issue.  The important thing is that it happened to you!
