ALV grid on the view keeping stale data

Hi All,
I am creating an application in WDA in which we had decided to simply use tablui component. But later due to the nature of the requirements I decided to switch from that to ALV grid ( mainly for sorting and exporting to excel functionality advantages).
There is a button which when clicked populates the data in the alv grid. ( there is a RFC which exports an internal table with data ) and i use the bind_table method to fill the ALV context node with the data. The Node has been mapped properly from component controller to the interface controller. And the code for populating the grid is written in the Action of the button.
But my problem is after first population of the data in the alv( which works perfectly alright), if i chnage the selection criteria and again click the button my internal table (which is passed in the bind_table method) is getting loaded with new set of data( i know that since i saw the internal table contents by debugging) but the alv grid on the screen is not refelecting the same.
Ive tried using lo_nd_ctx_vn_alv->invalidate( ). here n there but doesnt work at all. In fact if invalidate is used then the ALV grid doesnt populate even once.

the data comes from rfc and is recieved in it_alv .

Hi Bhaumik,
I think no need to write this code to get data using service call..
Just call Execute method in component controller from your view controller.
For example you have a button GETDATA, in on action of this button just call method. (use code wizard ) or
 DATA lo_COMPONENTCONTROLLER TYPE REF TO IG_COMPONENTCONTROLLER .
 lo_COMPONENTCONTROLLER = wd_this->get_componentcontroller_ctr( ).
 lo_componentcontroller->execute_<YOUR EXECUTE METHOD NAME>.

Fit the ALV grid to the monitor size

Please let me know how i can fit the ALV grid to the monitor size of the user. That is The grids should be layered and expanded to the full width of the users monitor.

You can fit ALV grid to monitor size by defining the container as docking container.
In this case, you neednot create a custom container .

Hi Rajitha,
You can have as many as ALV output in the screen By using OOPS.
By using Container you can pass ALV output.

I also agree that the Snap Tto Grid would be nice, like in Photoshop. I have sent in several Feature Requests for Grids, with full functions, like Snap To, though not recently.

ALV Grid and Excel view

Hi,
I'm searching anywhere on this forum for a solution but up to now I did only partial progress.
I've already seen dozens of sap notes about this problem.
When I pressed "view in Microsoft Excel" (code &VEXCEL) on an ALV grid list, a popup appeared noticing that no template was found. Looking around on this forum I managed to discover how to load these templates from local (BC_ALVEXCEL_SAP_TEMPL, BCALV_BDS_MAINTENANCE) or from client 000 (BCALV_BDS_IMPORT_SAP_TEMPLATE).
Anyway, I managed to restore the templates on the system, but excel view still doesn't work:
wheh I press the button now I only see a blank screen in place of the excel; if excel was already open (not in sap), then an excel view is actually shown, but the sheet is empty, no data in it.
Any hints?

Just open Excel, then Goto Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Security Tab -> Macro Security ->Set Medium and in Trusted publisher tab select the checkbox Trust Access to Visual Basic Project Now Press Ok.
This will solve your problem.

Two ALV Grid in the same screeen

Hi,
I have created a module pool with a screen.
In this screen I have defined two customer objects and I dipslay two different ALV grid.
DATA: grid_1 TYPE REF TO cl_gui_alv_grid,
 grid_2 TYPE REF TO cl_gui_alv_grid.
When the user puts the values into the field in both lists and pushes "enter", the program gets the input value by method
"get_selected_rows". It works only for the list where there is the cursor.
I need to read the value of each list at the same moment.

Oracle View causes stale data

I noticed my List page displays stale data after Updates if my list select is based on an Oracle View object, whereas if I change the select to go directly at the Table then the list is accurate. For example, say I drill-down on record 1 in the list and then edit the Description...next I Save the edit and the UI returns to the List page. But, the List page still shows the "old" Description. If I drill-down again, I see the "updated" Description (or if I connect to the db using another client I have verified the update was indeed successful).
So, why would using an Oracle View have this negative behavior and is there a way to correct this...since using Views are considered a Best Practice. Here's the query:

How can i validate on ALV grid for the user

Dear Freinds,
I have developed one custom report using ALV Grid program , as per the requirement i have to enter on the
data and when i press the value save the program sumits the data into my custom table . Till here every thing is fine
but one particular field i have declared as Char1 in my internal table , on the ALV output it is allowing me to enter
more than one character eg : it is allowing me to enter as Hyderabad .........even though i have declared as char 1 in the internal table ....however it is saving in the database table as H only that is correct.......but it is giving confusion to user
i want to validate that user shouldnt allow to enter more than one character in the alv output of the input field .
Please could any one let me know how can i validate.

How can I get the selected rows from two ALV grids at the same time?

I have a program that uses two ALV grids in one dialog screen. I'm using the OO ALV model (SALV* classes).
The user can select any number of rows from each grid. Then, when a toolbar pushbutton is pressed, I'd have to retrieve the selected rows from both grids and start some processing with these rows.
It is no problem to assign event handlers to both grids, and use the CL_SALV_TABLE->GET_SELECTIONS and CL_SALV_SELECTIONS->GET_SELECTED_ROWS methods to find out which rows were marked by the user. Trouble is, this only works when I raise an event in each grid separately, for instance via an own function that I added to the grid's toolbar. So, I can only see the selected rows of the same grid where such an event was raised.
If I try to do this in the PBO of the dialog screen (that contains the two grids), the result of CL_SALV_SELECTIONS->GET_SELECTED_ROWS will be empty, as the program does not recognize the marked entries in the grids. Also, an event for grid1 does not see the selected rows from grid2 either.
As it is right now, I can have an own button in both grid's toolbar, select the rows, click on the extra button in each grid (this will tell me what entries were selected per grid). Then, I'd have to click on a third button (the one in the dialog screen's toolbar), and process the selected rows from both grids.
How can I select the rows, then click on just one button, and process the marked entries from both grids?
Is it somehow possible to raise an event belonging to each grid programmatically, so that then the corresponding CL_SALV_SELECTIONS->GET_SELECTED_ROWS will work?

How to create a secondary list of alv grid inside the function module

Hi All,
My requirement is to create a RFC function module to display the alv grid of one table.
i have created that.
while clicking on the records of the alv it should open the secondary list of another table.
My problem is it is not fetching the records of the internal table of the primary list since it is created inside the function module(FUNCTION...ENDFUNCTION).
pls help me on this.

here sel_sheet is the internal table for the primary list..
i called the function module "reuse_lav_grid_display" inside Function...Endfunction.
so when i am using READ TABLE sel_sheet INTO wa_sheet INDEX rs_selfield-tabindex.
inside the user command perform therecords in this internal table is not populating..
pls help me on this.
