ALV OOPs: Refresh Issue

Hi,
Scenario:
I have implemented the ALV display using the methods of class CL_SALV_TABLE. I have a layout parameter and depending on the layout selected the result is displayed. Also there is a Refresh button on the grid for displaying the new data set.
For this I have used the refresh method of the CL_SALV_TABLE class.
  gr_grid->refresh(  ).
Issue:
When the data is displayed for the first time, it is as per the Layout selected. When I press the refresh button, the ordering of the rows is lost. I tried to debug but I am not able to figure out where the problem lies.
Kindly suggest.
Please do let me know in case the problem is not clear.

Dear Rich,
Adding to the question, I have 3 ALVs which I am displaying on the same screen(by splitting the container ). I have provided Refresh button on each of the screen and for handling the events I have created a class.
CLASS cl_handle_events DEFINITION.
  PUBLIC SECTION.
    METHODS:
      on_user_command FOR EVENT added_function OF cl_salv_events
        IMPORTING e_salv_function sender.
ENDCLASS.                    "cl_handle_events DEFINITION
The ALVs are created by calling
  TRY.
      cl_salv_table=>factory(
        EXPORTING
          r_container    = gr_container1
        IMPORTING
          r_salv_table   = gr_grid_1
        CHANGING
          t_table        = gt_table1
    CATCH cx_salv_msg INTO gr_error1.
  ENDTRY.
In the same fashion i instantiate the other 2 ALVs.
The requirement is that If the user presses the Refresh button on the First screen(split container), the other two ALVs should also be refreshed. So, on pressing the 'Refresh' button on the first screen, I do some modification to the three tables and then call the refresh() method for each instance.
  gr_grid_1->refresh(  ).
  gr_grid_2->refresh(  ).
  gr_grid_3->refresh(  ).
Kindly suggest..
Please let me know if I am anyway unclear about the question...:)

  • ALV Grid Refresh Issue

    Hello!
        I am using the FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' to display a report we have written. The report displays sales orders and when the user double-clicks on a line they are taken in VA02. I put in a change to have the report refresh after the user came back from VA02. I put in the code p_selfield-refresh = 'X' in the user_command section. This was working before and now it is not refreshing. I'm wondering if this has to do with a default layout we added after these changes were put in. I've done some google searches and I can find object-oriented code but my report is not setup that way so hopefully there is a solution for me!
    Thanks,
    Wendy

    If you set refresh subfield (and row/col_stable subfields if sort fields are not changed), then you should update the internal table record in your user_command form. You need to reload the data from database, but there may be a delay between leaving VA02 and actual update of database, you may try to lock the sales order to insure update task release the lock. (DO/ENQUEUE_EVVBAKE with WAIT/ENDDO and when/if successful DEQUEUE_EVVBAKE, if not successful after some tries, put a warning/status message)

  • Alv oops raising error message

    Hi,
    iam displaying output using alv oops.
    one of the char field is editable i want to give only numeric values only.i cannot change datatype to numc for that field.if user enters char value(like abc) and click on any button in alv output i want to raise a error message and i want to stop the user in alv report output.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hello Suresh
    I assume that the editable field in your ALV list is defined as CHAR type in the underlying table (structure). In order to prevent non-numeric entries I would use the following approach:
    Define additional column for your ALV list, e.g.:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_s_outtab.
      INCLUDE type <name of z-table> AS data.
    TYPES:  numfield(4)    TYPE n.  " Assumption: Your editable field is CHAR4, e.g. charfld
    TYPES: END OF ty_s_outtab.
    TYPES: ty_t_outtab  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_outtab WITH DEFAULT KEY.
    DATA: gt_outtab   TYPE ty_t_outtab.  " your itab for ALV list
    Build fieldcatalog automatically and add additional column for NUMFIELD:
    " Call fm LVC_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE with your z-table
      LOOP AT gt_fcat INTO ls_fcat
                                WHERE ( fieldname = <name of editable field> ).
         " Suppress this field
           ls_fcat-tech = 'X'.
           MODIFY gt_fcat FROM ls_fcat INDEX syst-tabix.
        " Modify LS_FCAT to reflect the additional NUMC4 field
          ls_fcat-fieldname = 'NUMFIELD'.
          ls_fcat-rolltype = ...  " change technical details from CHAR4 -> NUMC4
          ls_fcat-edit = 'X'.  " Now the NUMC4 field is editable
          INSERT ls_fcat INTO gt_fcat INDEX syst-tabix.
      ENDLOOP.
    Initial load of outtab: shuffle values from CHAR4 to NUMC4 field
    REFRESH: gt_outtab.
      LOOP AT gt_data INTO ls_data.
        clear: ls_outtab.
        ls_outtab-data = ls_data.
        move ls_data-charfld TO ls_outtab-numfield.
        APPEND ls_outtab TO gt_outtab.
      ENDLOOP.
    Regards
        Uwe

  • Adding new rows at run time in alv oops

    HI ALL,
    I have a created an editable alv report in oops. Now i have to add a new row having similar values as the previous row at run time when a custom button is clicked in the output and after entering some values in the new row and pressing the database must be updated and also the internal table at run time itself.
    for example let us suppose i have the following row in the alv output.
    MATNR                          DESCRIPTION                             NAME                             DATE
    001                                 TEST                                        MATRIKS                      10092001
    NOW if we click the custom button added on the alv toolbar, it should a new row at the run time similar to previous row as shown below
    MATNR                          DESCRIPTION                             NAME                             DATE
    001                                 TEST                                        MATRIKS                      10092001
    001                                 TEST                                        MATRIKS                      10092001 -> NEW ROW.
    can we do it in alv oops? pls let me know the soln or any helpful links
    thanks
    john

    Hi John,
       I dont think, you can find any method for that,
    one way what I can suggest is
    Get the selected row index.
    Insert the blank row in your internal table at this index
    Refresh the container.
    Hope  this will help.
    Thanks,
    Anmol.

  • ALV grid Refresh problem  for one user

    Have an ALV with editable columns. Validation and save works for all columns for one user but not for the other. The user with the issue is able to modify the values and save to the database fine.The problem is it doesn't display in the ALV once refreshed. Please suggest any ideas of how to look into this issue as it works for one and not other user.

    Strange work for one user not for other.
    Once you save the data, rebind the data to table. so that new data will display. ( that use set_initial_elements as true, so that old values not display ).

  • How to do it in ALV OOPS

    Hi
    Im using ALV OOPS.o/p I have 10 records with checkbox(at user command I have to select record selected by check box). Now on the menu bar I hav a button for "SELECT ALL". If "selected all" 10 recored will be selected. If I filter upon some criteria no. of records will be 3..Now in GUI if I select SELECT all it will display 3 records r selected, but I have to process further internally ,,,but internally 10 records are selected. So how to write code for that is after filterring 3 records r selected and I "select all"..only 3 records will be selected instead of 10?
    Part of my code like this..
    SELECT all

    Hello Kaushik
    Using method go_grid->GET_FILTERED_ENTRIES you get an index list of the filtered entries.
    DATA: lt_filtered     TYPE lvc_t_fidx,

  • Download data from ALV to excel issue

    Hi All,
    Could you please tell me if there has any restriction on ALV grid data download to excel? I've a report contains 68 columns and about 500 rows, I want to download the data using the standard menu list->export->save to local file. but after I download them, I found the first 65 columns display in one line and the rest columns display in next line, just like ALV do not allow too many characters in one row and have to switch to new line. I can hide some columns but it's very strange that even after i hide 3 columns to fit the 500 rows download, then if the rows increase, the same problem occurs.
    I searched the forum and in the thread Re: Export ALV in EXCEL Issue Mr. Suvajit provided a solution by using menu List->export->spreadsheet, it looks very good. But I still want to know how this happen and is there a standard way to download data with more than 65 columns to local file with extension .xls so that user can open it directly?
    PS: I'm using FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY and the SAP version is SAP ECC6 with kernal package SAPKB70103.
    Thank you very much.
    Best Regards,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
    Please check if following analysis is helpful to you.
    Analysis/Solution:
    When we export ALV data to excel worksheet, as sap notes say the maximum lenght allowed is 1023 charaters and the max no of columns supported is 90.
    (I never faced any issue related to no of columns as it worked fine for columns >90 too)
    Issue occured when row size of exported data gets more than 1023 character.
    Therefore the row data must not exceed 1023 character, otherwise column splits and moves to next row.
    One additional aspect generally missed is that:
    When data in any particular column changes it's length, alv header also changes its lengh (short text, medium text, long text; depending on the length of of the longest cell in the column)
    therefore even if you have total length of row less than 1023 character, there might be cases when your ALV header size exceeds this length.
    Reducing the header size (by forcing to use short text or specifying own header names) should resolve the issue.

    Parveen

    Hi,
    you can use set pf-status statement with the OOPs' concept where in you will have to give this in the events table and pass it to the method to display the alv ...
