ALV Row display limitation
Hi Gurus
How many rows can we display in ALV report output ?
Is there any limit for that ?
Quick help is appreciated..
Thanks
Gajanan
No need to change the gui status, If you simply want to exclude the excel button, you can do this. Check code in <b>BOLD</b>.

Row Display Limitation in CF7?
Hey there! We just upgraded a server to CFMX 7 (on Weblogic
8, Windows OS) and have found that one of our pages seems to have a
problem displaying over 730 records in a regular html table. When
we code a break after 730, the data displays on the page and all is
well, over 735 and the data just doesn't show up...its a blank page
after the code that processes the output. This only happened in
CFMX 6 + after like 20k records.
Any ideas on that I should be looking at, configuring...etc?
Thanks,
Va.Most likely the memory errors are related because we can
display thousands upon thousands of records at a time using CF7.
The output is unlimited unless you actually code a limit to
it, or if the server times out because the query takes too long.
Depending on where the output is coded, if the query timesout
or fails for any reason, the actual output may be hidden by the
fact it is not in a viewable location at the time.
Try the page again and when it seems to stop/fail, take a
look at the page source and see if you can see the error message(s)
in there. Hidden errors can be kind of common when the code runs
inside a table that is not yet completed, because a table must be
complete before it will display on screen. -
Row seperator in the ALV grid display after the various highest level prod.
Hi,
I have a requirement like user wants a row seperator against the various high level products (Each parent material)in ALV Grid display. We made this change but quantity and pricey fields showing the zero's in the blank line.i know that if we use NO-ZERO
in the ALV field catalog , we can remove the zero's from blank line. But other zerou2019s will remove from rest of the line items. User want's the zero's in other line items, but not in the blank line.
We can convert packed fileds into character format, but this will effect to the summing the quantity, price coumns.
If any body have idea on above mentioned.
Regards,
SK.Hi Suresh,
There is no short cut for this requirement. You have to do following steps.
1. Change the data type of column to char.
2. Programatically find the totals.

Selecting multiple rows in ALV grid display
Hi,
I have an ALV grid display in my report.
My grid contains multiple rows.
I have to select multiple rows at a time, to perform some operations on the selected rows.
How can it be achieved?
Thanks,
Sandeep.Hi ,
you have to use a box fieldname in the report to be able to select multiple lines at a time :
- in your internal table declaration put the first field as 'box_fieldname' of type c1
- then in your work area for layout add, lwa_layout-box_fieldname = 'box_fieldname'
- in the perform for handling user commands, all selected lines will have an "X" in the field name 'box_fieldname'
Thanks and Regards,

Limiting rows displayed from user-selection on dashboard prompt
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to limit the number of rows displayed after a user has made a selection using a dashboard prompt. Here is my scenario:
User selects 24 periods of data using an 'In Between' dashboard prompt (i.e. Jan05-Dec06). 24 rows are returned by the query but I only want to show the last 12 rows (Jan06-Dec06).
Motivation is that I'm using the MSUM function to display a 12-month moving sum total and I don't want to display the first 12 rows as they do not contain a complete moving sum total.
I've looked at using a variable to store the user selection at the dashboard prompt, but the 'In Between' dashboard prompt does not allow one to store a result in a variable.
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!Hi Som,
Thanks again for your feedback. I've thought about using dynamic repository variables, but found them not to be the answer. Although the moving sum would always be a 12 month total, the user needs to be able to vary the range of periods using the dashboard prompt. Today he might only want to look back 12 months, tomorrow he may need a 5 year overview. Using dynamic repository variables would mean I'd have to create variables for the entire history i.e. CM until CM - 240 (20 years * 12 months). If a user then would like to report on a specific period, he would need to pick the correct dynamic variables, which would not be user friendly/acceptable.
I think I may need to resolve this problem in my datamart by calculating & storing a 12 month total (the only 'fixed' requirement of the report) in my fact table. This would also remove the need for the user to select 12 months more that he would see in his report (a drawback of my original scenario above).
Thanks again for your input!

Total count to be displayed in subtotal ALV(GRID Display)
Hello ,
I want to display total count in subtotal.
720 Mr JORGE 522,06
720 Mr JORGE 566,23
720 Mr JORGE 100,33
720 Mr JORGE 123,33
720 Mr JORGE 332,22
subtotal -> 720 1644.2 Count 5
888 Ms Mariam 100,00
subtotal -> 888 100,00 Count 1
Is this possible? Plz dont post same answers how to display subtotal. I am able to display subtotal , only issue is to display with count.
Edited by: Vimalnair on Aug 19, 2009 9:37 AMHi,
You cannot have subtotal for particular number of rows of ALV,
but if you want to get the total number of rows of the ALV data display
you can describe your final internal table from which the data is
getting displayed in ALV output and get it displayed in the header
or footer area of the ALV output.
For Eg:
DATA V_LINES TYPE I.
DESCRIBE TABLE IT_FINAL LINES V_LINES.
DATA: it_header TYPE slis_t_listheader,
wa_header TYPE slis_listheader.

Field Catolgue in alv grid display
Hi Abapers,
I need to display the percentage rows with decimals and other rows without decimal . Is their any option in field catalog to do like this. Or tell me any other alternative to achieve this.
sno total col1 col2 col3
1 220 100 20 100
2 320 120 50 150
tot 540 220 70 250
per 40.74 1.87 and so on
or ,
I have two different internal tables how can i put it in one field catalog to pass it to alv grid display.
Regards,
PriyaDon't do total by your self in the Pogram.
in the Fieldcatalog there is an Attribute which will do total & Average .
Enable it so that from one internal table data it self it will do good.
example program
Below is an example ABAP program which will populate a simple internal table(it_ekpo) with data and
display it using the basic ALV grid functionality(including column total). The example details the main
sections of coding required to implement the ALV grid functionality:
