Always asks to choose default WiFi network

I connected to the same wifi network for a year and it was always the one my computer would connect to automatically when it saw that network.
We moved although the service provider and hardware (the exact wifi router, no change in network details such as name or password) went with us. Now I have to choose the wifi network being told none of my preferred networks are available.
This is a huge pain and I don't know why it doesn't just see that network and connect. The password is saved in my keychain.

Only override is to "forget this network" and it will go on the homehub versus the BT. Or try turning i4 wifi off and on again and see if it goes for homehub. It stays on the active network forever unless you swap under wifi settings.

  • My iPad mini touchscreen won't work and the screen is stuck on Choose A Wifi Network....Can Somebody Please Help Me

MY Ipad Mini Touchscreen Is Not Responding. It Won't Let Me Type In My Password When I Tried It Then Said That It Was Disabled For 1 Minute. Then I Tried It Again It Said Disabled For 5 Minutes. then I Tried To Reset It, I've Tried Recovery Mode NOTHING! Now The Screen Is Stuck On Choose a Wifi Network...Can Someone Help Me Please

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Why am I asked to join a WiFi network every time i open my computer?

Why I am asked to join a WiFi network every time I open my computer?

Make sure your Mac is up to date with all Apple Software Updates.
    Then:
Go to System Preferences > Network. Select Wi-Fi or AirPort from the left column. Click the Advanced... button.
Under the Preferred Networks list, select every Wi-Fi network that appears, including the one you want to use, and delete every one using the "–" (minus) button. Select the box "Remember networks this computer has joined" if it is not already selected.
    OK then Apply.
Select your wireless network in your Mac's Wi-Fi menu, provide your wireless network password, and determine if that solves its connection problems.
If the above does not resolve the problem, follow the steps in these Apple Support documents:

  • Default wifi network

I have my new iPhone 4S set up for the four different wifi networks in the four different offices that I visit. The problem is that the phone defaults to the network of the office that I'm in just six times a year. This means that two or three times a day when I'm at head office (which is at least four days a week), I have to go into Settings and select the network of HQ. How do I make head office's network the default?

This is highly annoying and is a problem only brought on from iOS4. OS3 did not have this problem and now I get this everyday. The problem is even worse as BTOpenzone at home is from my neighbours hub which is a few bars DOWN compared to my home network, so why can it not go on signal strength aswell as recently connected networks? or better still let us choose priority!!!
The reason why iPhones wont work with BTOpenzone at home is because of the authentication mechanism preventing iPhones on at the moment, I work for the BTOpenzone team and we are working on sorting this out very soon.

  • Is there a way to set a default wifi network for my iPhone 5s?

    Hi,
I have two networks in my home. When I first walk in, my phone automatically recognizes my extended wifi network.  But since I tend to spend most of my time in the back of the home, I rather have it connect to that network.
Is there a way to change the default?
And no, I can't move the AirPort Base or AirPort Express due to the way the cable is in my home.
Thank you in advance (hope I used the correct terminology).

I have an Airport Extreme upstairs with my computer plus an Airport Express downstairs. They are both defined to be on the same network with Airport Utility. My mobile device use which ever one is giving them the best signal even when I am down in the basement.

  • Randomly asks to choose disk and network at startup

Just like the subject says. It happens about one startup/reboot in ten; the gray screen, before getting to the Apple logo, asks me to pick a disk (only choice: my Macintosh HD) and a network (only choice: none, I have a wired network, and the Mini's Airport is off). My mouse (plain 3-button + scroll, no driver) is 99% non-responsive during this time. Once I make these "choices" (via keyboard), everything starts up and runs as it should.
I'm posting this in this forum because this is my fourth Mac, and I never had this problem with any of the others. And this Mac has been fine, other than an incurable Energy Saver issue (see that post to see everything else I've done to this point).
It's my mid-2010 Mac Mini (post-refresh). I was using it as my HTPC, and it worked flawlessly. I repurposed it as my own personal Mac. I erased the HD and reinstalled everything from scratch; performed all of the updates (OS X and everything else); and imported my user account from another Mac (running the same OS, 10.6.7).
What's causing this glitch? What else can I do to eliminate it, or at least troubleshoot it better?

I discovered that the above behavior is identical to the OS X Startup Manager being invoked at startup, i.e. holding down the Option key during startup. Except, I'm not touching the keyboard when it happens. Either my keyboard throwing random Option-key inputs, or something else is going on.

  • X6 16gb always asking for me to select network, ho...

I have had my phone for a few days now and im getting the hang of it and liking it more each day but its continuously showing me a task bar like screen and asking me to select network and it has a choice of wireless lan and a uncatorgorised one, what I want to no is how do I stop it from asking me this, my net works fine and I have no probs with any connetion but this thing is driving me nuts, it sometimes asks me 4 or 5 times every ten minutes, please help me

Have you tried setting the priority of the networks, so your home network is number 1?
To do this goto Settings - Connectivity - Destinations - Internet - Select your network - Options - Organise - Change Priority and move it to the top.
Once this is done, double click on you home network, scroll to the bottom and change Use Access Point to Automatically from After Confirmation
Also, if you go to Settings - Connectivity - Wireless LAN, if the network appears in here that you don't want to connect to, click on it, select Options, Filter Networks and place a cross next to it
Hopefully this will stop the messages...

  • Default wifi network setting?

Can I set a default network for my iphone 4? If so how? Thanks.
To Clarify I have multiple network options. I want it to prefer one over all the others.

No. If it has connected to other networks in same area before and you did not have it "forget" it will just connect to which ever it sees first with strongest signal.

  • HT3867 how do I choose a wifi network to join

I have just bought a iphone4 but do not know what network to connect to for wifi

    From the iPhone User Manual:
You would either join some public network as described in the HT3867 article you attached or a private network that perhaps you subscribe to (and pay for), which you would do as described in the Manual excerpt above.

  • Air port always asks for password when a network is selected from the list

If I have my wirless router on before my mac, when i switch on my mac it connects fine, using the password I previously told it to remember. However if my mac is on first, then the router when I select the router in the wirless list it prompts for a password.
If I just switch the Airport on my mac off and on again it just connects fine. Is there a way to avoid having to swith airport off and on all the time?
This is only a problem on my Macbook 10.5.7, connection is fine all the time from my Mini 10.4.8
Thank you to anyone who can help

I have not asked same question many times in the same forum.
My previous question was very different from this

  • After I factory reset my Iphone 4s, I can't finish the step where it ask for WIFI Network, I guess it don't detect WIFI and can't connect to iTunes also. What should I do?

I can't finish the step after I factory reset my iphone 4s because I can't get thru with the CHOOSE YOUR WIFI NETWORK

If you can't see your WiFi then is your router broadcasting the SSID or do you not get to that point?

  • How to set up a airport xpress as a part of wifi network

I have a wifi set up that is hooked up to the internet and i have my airport xpress that i use to connect to my audio system for sound when playing from Itunes
The problem is that i can only choose one wifi network from the computer, so if im on itunes and playing music i cant get on line becasuse my wifi for internet is another network... How can i set my airport xpress as a part of the same network so i can listen to itunes and be on the net at the same time... Basically i want to use the airport xpress only as airplay

The AirPort Express device should be configured to join the wireless network of your router.

  • Repeatedly prompted for a wifi network when already connected (iPad Air 2 / iOS 8.1.3)

    Hey there
Subject says it all: since the iOS 8.1.3 update on my new iPad Air2 Wifi/GSM 128GB, I keep being prompted to choose a wifi network even when already connected to my home network or tethering on my iPhone. It's quite a pain to type a mail when I have to stop every few seconds to answer or cancel this stupid prompt window.
Oddly enough, it works all right on my iPhone (otherwise, I'd use 4G).
Anyone's got a nice trick to end that issue? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
