Always in recovery mode

every time i connect my ipod mini to my pc, itunes tells me the ipod is in recovery mode and has to be reset to factory default settings...wiping out all my music. If i reset it, it is normal until the next time i connect it to my pc and here we go again...same thing. I have connected it to 2 different pc's with same result. Any help appreciated.

Hi.
I'm having a similar problem. I've changed the drive letter as per your instructions but I'm still getting a message that reads my Ipod is in recovery mode and must be restored to the factory settings. When I try to restore, I get a error message that looks like a folder with a exclamation point and brings me right back to the original message that my Ipod is in rocovery mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • Trouble in Recovery Mode

? I'd choose the "Reload firmware" before connect the Creative Micro Photo 8Gb to the PC. Now, when I start the player, it's alway in Recovery Mode, and I cannot change anything from that.
I've get a firmware version "ZenMicroPhotoP4S_PCFW_LB__20_0.exe" for upgrade and set up, but the PC show that the Player is not conect, while I had saw that it connected in Window Explore.
My OS is Window XP SP2, WMP Ver.0
I had try with "ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe" and "ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB___0.exe" but still have that problem, thay not recognize my device.....
What should I do to fix this problem?
    Many thanks

Zen Micro firmware will NOT work on a MicroPhoto. Use the current firmware for your player which is in the link I posted. First open the file before you connect the player. While the player is in recovery mode choose format >cleanup.after those have completed then choose reload firmware & connect the player. If the Autoplay window opens ignore it. click update /upgrade & it should complete.Message Edited by coachop94 on 04-03-2009 :05 PM

  • Zen Sleek stuck on 'Recovery Mode' - firmware reinstallation quest

Yesterday I was having playback problems with my player, and now, after it working perfectly last night, it froze this morning. I reset, it 'rebuilt the library' and then I kept getting 'Firmware Problem'. Now it's always on Recovery Mode when I turn it on. Tried disk clean-up and rebooting but no joy. Should I reinstall my firmware, and how do I do that? Also, if I need to format it do I need to reinstall things to get it working again?

This is what I got from Customer Support dude :-
    Drain the battery to empty.
    Hit the reset button.
Charge the Zen sleek for 5 - 6 hours.
    Hit the reset button
Please do a cleanup and reboot via rescue mode:
Power down the Zen. Press and hold the Play button, then gently insert a
paper clip into the Reset hole. (Do not release the play button yet,
hold the play button for a while)
A screen with the following options should appear.
. Clean Up (Performs a scan disk on the HDD)
    2. Format All (All contents will be lost, including pre-installed
    content)
    3. Reload OS (updates the firmware for the Zen)
    4. Reboot (Reboots the Zen)
If problem still persists, do a format and reload OS via rescue mode, is
    there any error?
    Does it help?
For me, I had to follow option 2 the format and reload to get my sleek working again, good luck with yours.

  • Can't get iPhone 4s out of recovery mode and always get error 40 during restore

I tried updating to ios 6.1.2 and I left it for a while since I had to do some stuff. When I came back, my iPhone is in recovery mode and I can't get it to restore using itunes. I always get error 40. I tried restoring on a different pc but it's still a no go. Is it possible that this has something to do with the hardware? I've already looked up possible solutions but my iphone's still in recovery mode. I never had this phone opened nor did I attempt to jailbreak it or anything. I tried asking my carrier for assistance but they're charging me for repairs. The fee's pretty expensive.

    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

  • My iPhone 6 always turn off & goes in recovery mode

Last week my iPhone 6 started to just shut off by its self. It connected it with iTunes and it said the phone is in recovery mode. I held the power button and home screen button and it turned back on. Since then my iPhone 6 always keeps doing it. I restored it but it started again to shut off by its self. Till now i can always turn it back on by pressing the power button and home screen button but i don't think that's it's normal that my iPhone 6 does that.
    Maybe you can help me!

  • Lion always starts in recovery mode

I installed Lion a couple of weeks ago, and it's worked pretty much fine, with one major problem. Whenever I start the machine, it has now begun to boot up in recovery mode, as though I were holding down command-R. I then re-start, and it starts normally, although after a longer-than-normal pause at the pre-Apple-logo white-screen part of the process.
This is obviously annoying, but I can still get my work done.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
I'm running a Mac Pro 2X2.66 GHz Dual-Dore Xeon machine with 3 GB RAM. Lion is running on a 400GB internal drive.
    Thank you.

    pedro3178,
Thank you for the suggestion. I would never have thought having more than 1 bluetooth device trying to connect would interfere with the system booting up. You have saved me a lot of frustration. I will definitely have to change my start up routine but it will be worth to save me from always having to restart.
    Dave_4321,
Thanks as well for your comments. I was afraid this was only an issue with my machine. It sounds like this bug may be common to iMac's at least starting with the mid-2010 machines.
My machine is an i5 mid-2010 27 inch model. I have had the wireless mouse, keyboard, and trackpad since I got the computer and have pretty much had the issue from the start. This makes sense based on pedro3178's comments.
Again, my thanks to both of you for your comments.
