Always need to reboot Mac to get flash to work.

Every time I want to use Adobe FLash player, it crashes upon start and I have to reboot my Mac.  I tried upgrading from leopard to Snow Leopard and the problem is still the same. I am using the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
It doesn't matter if I am using Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome, Flash crashes in all of them.
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, tried the debugger file and STILL......it crashes.   I just recently realized that a complete shutdown and restart of my
Mac will get Flash Player working.
A side note:  I also experience this same thing whenever I want to use the scanner portion of my Canon Pixma printer/scanner.  There too, I have to shutdown and restart the computer.  Not sure the two are related or merely a coincidence.
Apparently there is perhaps a conflict with Flash Player and some other software my computer uses?

Thanks, but I have been to that site, tried all that, and I continue to have the problem.
I don't think it's necessarily teh Flash Player install, but I must have something else running on my
Mac that conflicts with it.  Immediately after a fresh boot, it's okay, but something creates a conflict
eventually.  It could be my printer driver?  It could be Itunes?  Not sure.

  • Cant get Flash to work in Safari!

I have several Mac set ups.
On some of them, Flash content plays back fine in Safari.
    But on this system :
    Leopard 10.5.5
    Model Name: Power Mac G5
    Model Identifier: PowerMac7,2
    Processor Name: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
    Processor Speed: 1.8 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 3 GB
    Bus Speed: 900 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.1.4f0
I can not get Flash to work, EVER!
    Drives me crazy.
I have installed the latest version of Flash over and over.
    It never takes.
I've had this problem for about a year.
I've read these forums over and over.
I've asked my tech guy at work a dozen times.
    He cant figure it out.
Is there no solution other than using Firefox?
    This is ridiculous.

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing.
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player versions (v.9.0.115.0 and 9.0.124.0) in some cases conflict with Leopard 10.5.4, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2008-007. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
But the latest version 10 of FlashPlayer should work fine.

  • Can someone help me find a workaround to get flash to work in XP Pro 64 bit, like there is a workaround for vista 64 bit?

Can someone help me find a workaround to get flash to work in XP Pro 64 bit, like there is a workaround for vista 64 bit?
I am trying to get rid of all my 32 bit apps because the more of them you run in 64 bit the less resources are available.
Firefox has a 64 bit browser they call the Shiretoko build. I love it, it's twice as fast as a heavily tweaked 32 bit firefox. Java has a 64 bit plugin that works with it.
    The last holdout is Adobe.
Microsoft is making Vista and Win 7 64 bit as easy and smooth as the 32 bit versions as a means to get people to start using them.
Linux has a way to make flash work with 64 bit.
Remember when we all had a 16 bit operating system and how much better things got with 32 bit?
Adobe, it's time!.. don't you see that?
Can someone help me solve my problem? Please?

sorry but that doesnt help my options the guy i called said they discontinued the audigy 4 and 2. I dont know why he would say that but he said his supplier cant get them. Are they really discontinued? Also, isnt the audigy 2 zs or whatever its called for notebooks? i cant use an external one. Well not that i cant, i dont want to. I just want a good sound card mounted into my computer...
    Thanx in advance.
no the audigy 2 zs is pci based. they have another called audigy 2 zs notebook and that's the one for laptop. if you can't find it from your vendor, you can always try getting it from someone else.

  • Is there a way to get Flash to work in a browser while offline?

In order to work offline I'm using XAMPP to develop a website which is working great except that I can't see any Flash content. External Flash players have no problem working offline but obviously won't load anything but SWFs and FLVs.
Is there a way to get Flash to work in a browser while offline?
    Thanks
    -Chaz

You can open a swf file in a browser offline, either as a standalone file or as part of a web page.  If the file is dependent on loading online content in some way, or needs to interact with a server-side script, then it may not get very far.

Yes, sorry about the editing, i just spent 10 minutes looking for the edit buttons and then the submit buttons, my new style made them invisible:P . I had a thought though. Before i installed gnome i had installed firefox, could i have installed a second copy while installing gnome or done something else to cause me difficulty? I like firefox but i guess i'll try getting flash to work in some other browsers and see how that goes.  Also, firefox isnt detecting any plugins in its add-ons section, perhaps thats a clue?

How do you get flash to work on a kindle?

Basically, you don't Retailers really shpould tell people this BEFORE selling them a tablet that WON'T do what they're buying it for. See:

  • My Airport Extreme always needs a reboot for it to see an external drive plugged into it. Is this normal?

The title pretty much sums it up. Every few days I have to reboot my AE in order for it to recognize the external drive (iOmega Prestige 500gb) I have plugged into it. Needless to say, it's pretty frustrating. I was hoping to setup the external drive so all of my computers could use it as a central device, but needing to reboot all the time kind of kills the convenience. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Relax. It's normal for an iOS device to turn on when it is plugged in and charging. You didn't hurt anything. As long as it has a charge, you can use it and it should come with a sufficient charge to use it right out of the box.
Your phone will be fine. Charge it when you need to charge it. You didn't damage anything.

  • Adobe flash won't work. How do I get flash to work? I've uninstalled then installed and still nothing.

how do I get adobe flash to work? I've uninstalled then downloaded a Flash it says instll complete and then I still get missing plug-in messages.

Uninstall Flash, reboot, and install new from Adobe.
    Uninstall: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
    Install: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If that doesn't fix it, download Chrome from https://www.google.com/chrome . Chrome has an integrated version of Flash, which is a good test to see if Flash is the root issue or not.

  • What else to try? I've tried these steps to get Flash to work

I'm running Vista Ultimate 32 bit, with IE9. I've had flash on my computer for years. Current version is 10.3.183.10. Yesterday it stopped working. Web pages are saying that I need to download Flash. Used your uninstall utility to remove what I had. Restart. Download again. The animation comes up and says it's successful. If I opened a new tab on the browser and tried to play a clip, it worked. When I closed browser and reopened, it would not work. Got the same message that I needed Flash. Repeated this many, many times. I installed as Administrator. I disabled firewall and all active programs while doing this.
I downloaded uninstall utility and install file to desktop and tried to install from there. Didn't work. Active x was not checked in Security, so that wasn't the issue.
In toolbar extensions, Shockwave Flash is enabled. Java is enabled. Java Script has scripting enabled in security tab.
I checked "use software rendering instead of GPU rendering."
In Control Panel there is an icon for Flash that says Flash Player settings Manager. It says allow sites to save information on this computer.
Under Programs and Features, it shows Flash is installed.
Under Windows, System 32, Macromed, Flash here are the files that show up:
Flash Player Trust              8-21-2011  File Folder
    Flash 10x.ocx                    9-27-2011  Active X Control    6,235 KB
Flash Install                       9-27-2011  Text Document       143 KB
Flash Util 10x_Activex.dll    9-27-2011  Application Exten    322 KB
    FlashUtil10x_Activex          9-27-2011   Application             238 KB
install                                4-10-2010  Text Document         37 KB
When I tried to go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/   at the top of the page is says " an error occured while processing this directive."  I tried many times.
This appears on one of your pages: Is your Flash Player a debugger version, video capable, audio capable, and local File input/output enabled? The following displays the type of Flash Player version that this browser is running, and its capabilities. Usually, only developers creating content for Flash Player require this information: Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.  You're OWN page requires an update!
I have been to every page and have tried everything I have read in the posts. When I tried to sign in to post this, my computer went into a frenzy opening new tabs that alternately flashed "adobe.com" and "Redirecting" and tried to access adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=ca&returnurl (then I couldn't read the rest. It wouldn't stop. I had to use control, alt, delete to get out of it. I had to open Chrome to sign into this forum.  Flash works in Chrome, but it's built in, right. What is going on with IE?
Common, Adobe, how about some help (with no charge!) for the legions of us that can't get your program working properly? We would be ever so grateful to get our lives back!

I thought maybe I could download Flash Player to my computer through Chrome, but since it's integral in Chrome that didn't work. I used the uninstall flash. I did a system restore. I ran Microsoft Essentials and current Spybot with no issues except a few cookies. I cleaned up hard drive of unused programs, and all temp files. I ran "temp", "%temp%", and "prefetch" and emptied the recycle bin. I restarted, and downloaded flash again. If I opened a new tab on the same browser, I could play clips. If I closed the browser and reopened, Flash Player would not work, it was not recognized. When I tried to sign in to the forum on IE, the browser did this crazy thing again switching tabs furiously from "adobe.com" to "redirecting" to "blank page." It finally crashed the browser again on a blank page, and a control, alt, delete was necessary.
I then tried the malwarebytes utility that Chris suggested. It did pick up some issues, and the free version only fixed some, so I purchased a downloaded version and ran it. FLASH PLAYER NOW WORKS!
However, when I tried to sign in again to this forum IE, it still does that wild cycling tab thing. I tried several times more with no luck. So I am only able to login through Chrome. I can live with that.
Obviously we don't know what caused the issue, ( whenever you closed the browser window from which you downloaded, it would never again recognize that flash player was installed. )
I am THRILLED that I can finally walk away from my computer for awhile! My family missed me!
    Thanks, Chris and Carl!

  • Can't get flash to work in firefox

On I. E. the flash movie works fine but when it is tried in firefox it doesn't appear. A right click of the mouse shows that the flash is there but it doesn't work. Is there something that has to be added or removed in order to make this work properly in firefox? Going to other sites and the flash works fine except when it comes to my site? There is a possibility that it is my coding but it was cut and paste from adobe. The rationale is that firefox should be able to handle this code but it doesn't? Any ideas?

Not meaning to give you mis-information. Am struggling to overcome this problem and have been able to get the firefox to host the embedded swf.
What has happened is that the web page has been recreated specifically for firefox. Being under the impression that if the embed was done on I. E. then it would tranfer to firefox automatically. This doesn't seem to be the case. In a workaround it was decided that re-doing the page would be the best way to go.
Your assistance has been and is very beneficial in that you made me aware of the publish aspect in flash. Imagine Homer Simpson giving his "D'oh!"
Not sure if what is being done is right but it works. Am able to send it to the server, able to see it working as needed and am now looking at reading the browser to send the right page.
Were it not for your information then there would be a whole lot of struggling left to do. Let me know if this is the right track, please.
    Thank you!
