This would be even easier though the initial spend on refurbished ipads is higher, but still long term this is better because you are having to keep a dedicated PC station with its monitor/speakers/etc. And this way they can carry me around the office and into team meetings.

Does anyone know of a chat/webcam solution that detects motion? The idea is I am putting a Virtual Me in my office because I am moving out of state and support the office remotely. No joke!
The idea is they walk into my former office space, the webcam detects the motion and alerts me at my remote location, and then we chat almost as if I'm still there...
We also will be using Skype for Business but this is more like a chat station.

Pvc2300: false positive with motion detection

Hello!
I bought 3 pvc 2300 cameras. I tried motion detection with camera's software and with "Active webcam" software and I received a lot of false positive mails.
1. with camera's software, I set event with motion detection & sent mail, but I receive a lot of mail when there isn't motion (I saw registrations and images)
2. with Active WebCam software I use Linksys cameras and Panasonic Cameras. With Panasonic cameras all is ok. With Linksys cameras, about every hours there is a black frame, so I receive a mail from motion detection. Black frame arrive about every hours, after 60 minutes from last black frame. That is very strange!
I changed sensitivity, check frequency, number of frame at second, but I have same problem.
Can you help me?

I have 2 Panasonic cameras too and I need one software to manage all cameras.
sensitivity: on active webcam software, I changed sensitivity of motion detection
frequency check: on active webcam software, I changed from check motion every 0,1 second to every 5 seconds
number of frame: on Linksys software I changed Max Frame Rate from 15 fps to 6 fps.

Help with motion detection preset on a WVC210

Hi, I am really out of ideas. Is it possible to set the home position as my motion detection area? I can't seem to be able to make my camesa stay at its home position. I set my camera to go back to my home position after 1 minute of idling, the the camera keep going somewhere else. I noticed that the area it goes to is the same area that my camera goes to when I clicked on the motion icon (the one with the man running. Can I overwrite that position? I tried deleting all my presets, recalibrated the camera and even resetting my camera a few times already. I really need help cause the area that the camera choose as my motion area is not what I need. Thank you in avanced to all that take the time to answer me.

Hi, yes I can manually tilt up or down. I have the camera facing down on the stairs to the entrance of my house and saved as a home position. I went in to the motion detection section and made sure the position is the same as my home position (I hit apply just to be sure). I set my camera to go back to my motion detection area when idle for 5 minutes (I tried different values already). Within 5 minutes the camera would tilt back to the center (facing the street), but it seems that the panning position was saved. I can move the camera around. When I hit the home position the camsera would go back to where I want, but when I hit the motion button the camera would be in the same panning position, but with a different tilt position center). The reason I know its the center is because I tried resetting my default home position and it would go back to the center pan/tilt position. It seems the camera would not accept any tilt position other then the center... I can give you access to my camera if you would like. I greatly appreciate your time and effort in helping me.

WVC210 with Motion Detection does not stay in the correct position

When I set the camera in a specific position (setting it as Home) and then I enable Motion Detection feature (setting area and sensibility using the home position); if i have set the "Disable Motion Detection while position is incorrect" with "Go to Motion Detection position if idle" option the camera will reset the tilt after the time set has expired.
Is it a known bug (I have not found anything about that here)?
Is there a way to set which is the motion detection position to be held?

Just out of interest, I'm guessing you are utilities built within the camera to send a image somewhere ?
Are you using the free Surveillance monitoring application to store captured video on your NAS/PC or server ?

Webcam chats with windows users

I have been trying to chat with a friend of mine using webcams and first we thought the problem was that her computer was treating the ichat invitation as an intruder. Now she has set her virus protection to accept me but every time we connect, ichat immediately shuts off.

WVC54GCA motion detection in utility setup not working

After reading this answer that basically says that if you use the web-based advanced setup for motion detection, your recording is limited to only 5 sec., I disabled motion detection in the web GUI, and decided to setup motion detection in the utiity setup windows.
I can't make it work correctly: I have firmware V1.00R24:
This is what I do: I check Enable Motion Detection Recording in the Network Camera screen. In Preferences, I set the Recording Path, set 10 secs Motion Detection record before and after motion detection. I have 15 GB of available disk space.
Under Recording Schedule, if I set a schedule, say, daily from 7am to 7:30am (or any other interval), it will record for the whole duration independently of any movement or lack of movement in the field. If I don't set a recording schedule, it won't record anything.
I am not interested in triggering emails or FTPs, which apparently can be done only with the Web GUI anyway. I just want to record 10 secs before and after every instance of detected movement.
Am I missing something?

Well, I am still struggling with this motion detection.
@Carrot: Linksys seems to say that the 5 second limitation is only for the web-based setup, which I didn't use. If you read this answer from their knowledge base, you will see they recommend using the utility to obtain longer recording times. In any case, when I follow their recommendation, I don't even get 5 seconds. The only thing that gets recorded are the intervals I specify in Recording Schedule, and then it records everything, motion or no motion. Without entering a recording schedule, nothing gets recorded.
In any case, if you have any specific third party software in mind that would do a better job with motion detection, please let me know. I have been using successfully YawCam, which works with USB webcams, but I haven't found a way to make it work with this IP camera.
I may endup using my own video software (using avisynth) to detect movement from full recordings.

Motion Detection eamil fail

I have down loaded the new update for my live pro webcam, but the Motion detection still doesn't work. Now it is saying I have an invalid email address.
From: (optional) it is looking for an email address instead of a name. But with and email address it does not work.
To: is where I have my email address listed

When you enable the Motion Detection settings on your Camera you need to Input the Email settings on your Camera.... You can change / Enable the Motion Detection settings on you Camera by Web UI or by the Camera Utility...
Click Here how to enable the Motion Detection Settings on your camera by Web UI...
Open the Camera utility on your Computer and in that you need to select the Option "Motion Detection" and then you can enable the Motion Detection on your Camera...

I've a problem with motion detection of subject camera.
The camera keeps on sending every 15 minutes (interval selected by me) an e-mail with the picture, independently whether a motion was detected or not. I tested all possible option but no success. It keeps on going.
Neither this forum, nor Google could help so far.,
Any ideas ... ?

Using Firefox ... when I click on "Set sensitivity area", I get an empty dark purple box. No buttons or video window in.
Using IE 10 ... I get the correct window with the sliders on the left and the video window, but the "Indicator" bar is always full (completely blue). Is that normal?
Could it be that the camera's webif requires a particular browser, version or addon (Firefox)?
Is all this working for for somebody?
Before I know this, I will not waste my time with factory resets and so on. Other people had the same ... but I AFAIK nobody ended up finding a solution.

WVC54GCA- Enable Motion Detection checkbox, unchecked after 3 hours.

Motion Detection E-Mail, fails after 3 hours.
I checked the Enable Motion Detection box. Filled in for E-Mail. Sending to a g-mail.
Sending from a smtp mail(att.net)Using smtp port number 587,and filled in outgoing mail server(smtp.att.yahoo.com).Filled in my account name and password. On new motion trigger schedule I filled in Every day 00:00-23:59(Wanted this to be active 24/7).Test E-Mail works on all 3 cameras. Also getting motion E-mails sent to my G-mail as mp4 files, I can watch. This is really cool. However, after 2-3 hours the Enable Motion Detection box is unchecked on all 3 cameras, and there is of course no more e-mails being sent. When I recheck the Enable Motion Detection box, all previously entered info is still stored. I hit apply and I’m up and running again.3 hours later the cameras have disabled the Enable Motion Detection again.
All 3 cameras are still working. I can see the video. It’s only the Motion Detection E-Mail part that disables itself after 3 hours.
I am using a Linksys WRT330N.No other wired or wireless network problems on home- network(with 4 desktops,3 laptops, wired and wireless printers,wii,ps3 and x-box 360)
Anybody know what I’m doing wrong?

I have tried with timers(connected to cameras),turning them on and off(2/3 times in a 24 hour period).
I realy like the cameras,but software is terrible.(or is it the camera?).
E-mail notification falls out(disapears/is unchecked)once a day.
Even the Linksys Camera Utility cannot remember/recognize cameras between PC-shutdowns.
Hope Linksys can do something about this.
Cannot buy more of these,when they are so unreliable.
The point with a web-cam with motion detection,e-mail posibility would for me, be that it works every time.
Unfortunatly,this product does not..
Unless,somebody has found the solution.. .. .. ......... .. ?

WVC54GCA motion detection and port 25 blocked

About a month ago, I stopped receiving motion detection emails believe its because ISP is now blocking port 25...can successfully send and receive test emails but do not receive any messages with motion detection...can anyone suggest a solution to this problem, thanks much

Creative Webcam GO! no snapshot motion detection

Hi bascially I have downloaded the avail software from Creative downloadables
for my Creative WebCam Go!.
what i needed intially was motion detection with snapshooting capabilty until the motion ends.
but instead the Webcam Monitor provides :
- continious snapshooting after the monitor starts (endless process until user click stop monitor)
- video caption when motion is detected and for a period (in seconds) you have configured in the settings
and awaits next motion after the period ends.
So here i hope to have a combination of the 2 avail options . Which is :
- snapshooting images when motion is detected for a period of time configured . And awaits next motion after the period ends.

I have a web cam go as well and my XP PRO won't even let me install the drivers even after having it continue anyways.

Yes it does. There are only two selections and I've tried each of them to no avail. Is what I'm asking even possible on the Mac? I've tried with a few different people and it's always the same problem: Great picture, no sound. Facetime and Skype work great, I'm just having problems with Messenger. It's version 3.0.1 beta. Perhaps that feature just doesn't work in Mac?

Just want to record motion detect video with WVC80N

All I want to do is record motion detected video while I'm at work and view it when I get home. I don't want remote access and I don't care about email notifications. Does someone have some SIMPLE instructions for how to get this working? I've read many of the posts on this forum and found all kinds of complex setups involving multiple webpages and port forwarding, etc., etc. I just can't believe it's this complicated just to set up something simple. BTW -- I have no problem viewing live video either through the camera utility or via web browser. I can do instant recordings, but no motion detected video. IMHO the camera itself is great, but the support is pathetic. Camera utility program is terrible.

Live! Cam Voice Shuts Down When Using Motion Detection Feature

I'm running XP Media Center 2002.
I just installed Live! Cam Voice. Started using it and is was fine out of the box. I updated the drivers and i also decided to update the drivers for my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS.
The problem only seemed to occur when using the Motion Detection. Shortly after using it, I'd get a Microsoft error prompting the WebCam Center to shut down.
First I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it using the original drivers on the supplied disk. I still had the problem. So i rolled back the drivers on my sound card. That seems to have fixed the problem... Thought you'd want to know.
To be clear the Cam driver I'm using is .0.8.206. I believe this is the one that came w/ the install disk. Hope this helps anyone else who's experienced similar problems.....

I have the same problem. I only get 6-7 fps max. I've never seen anything above 0 fps which is a disgrace. My computer is and Athlon64 X2 4800 with 2GB RAM so it's nothing to do with spec. This behaviour was the same in driver version .0.8 as well as the latest one... .0.02 or something.
Also, since the last driver update, the whitebalance and focus when on automatic is dreadful. I'm not impressed.
