Always one annoying click too much to get to image...

For my Nokia 5800, as a frequent viewer of images, I'd like to get to that folder quickly. There is a button with an image symbol on the choices after clicking the "shortcut to media functions" (the small arrow-like button to the right above the screen) but when clicking it, you actually get to the Gallery menu, where the image folder is only one of several choices, including music and videos, although those already have separate buttons on the "shortcut to media functions" menu.
Therefore, I tried to make a shortcut to the image folder directly on the home screen instead, but the Nokia team appears to have forgotten to include that folder in the list of available shortcuts. The closest you can get is to the Gallery menu, which still is one annoying click too much to get to the image folder.
Does anyone know how to create an actual shortcut to the image folder?

No worries. As for Nokia photo browser, I don't understand how it is still in the experimental phase considering it has been around for a couple of years now. I would love to see it make it to final release or even implemented into the firmware. It works great on Symbian^3.
All the best.

For the past several versions of FF....I have posted here about it's 'behavior' under OS X.
The browser uses too much memory. After a short period of time, it becomes 'bloated', slow to respond, and requiring a 'force quit' to get out of it.
Being as I've posted about this before, for a previous version, and only received feedback from other Mac users experiencing the same thing, and not getting answers or help...I've stopped using it once more. It was a one day trial, and I didn't make it past 6 hours of use.

  • Time Machine Craziness: Way too much data getting backed up

    Hello.
I'm on a retina MBP running Mountain Lion. Each time that Time Machine does a backup, it's backing up way more data than corresponds to any changes I have made. I'm aware of issues with virtualization software (I'm not using any) and I'm also aware that it will back up entire large files even if I make a small change to it (that doesn't apply here; I have not altered any files that even approach the size of backups being done).
According to Console, Time Machine is backing up much more than backupd is detecting in its initial scan. Here are a couple excerpts from the Console representing today's backups:
    8/3/12 3:28:37.450 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Finished scan
    8/3/12 3:29:12.480 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Found 2659 files (290.2 MB) needing backup
    8/3/12 3:29:12.486 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: 999.3 MB required (including padding), 141.67 GB available
    8/3/12 4:28:43.148 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Copied 20.37 GB of 20.37 GB, 7322 of 7322 items
    8/3/12 5:28:43.700 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Copied 40.06 GB of 40.06 GB, 9058 of 9058 items
    8/3/12 5:53:34.220 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Found 564 files (18.4 MB) needing backup
    8/3/12 5:53:34.228 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: 673.7 MB required (including padding), 95.99 GB available
    8/3/12 5:59:10.509 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Copied 274 files (1.65 GB) from volume RUBYEXS.
8/3/12 6:00:46.867 PM com.apple.backupd[4027]: Copied 7185 files (1.66 GB) from volume Macintosh HD.
I'm pretty sure this has something to do with files on my external hard drive. There may be some corruption in the Time Machine indexing that is forcing backups of the same files to be made over and over again even when no modifications have been made. In the Time Machine menu bar extra, I can see the backup size snowballing. It will say, for example, "backing up 2.4 GB out of 3.0 GB," and one minute later say "backing up 3.5 GB out of 5.4 GB" and just keep going up to as much as 60 GB.
Any ideas what might be causing this? I can provide more detailed Console logs if anyone is interested. Do you think I should wipe my Time Capsule clean and start backups from scratch? That's what I did when I got my rMBP a few weeks ago, but doesn't the Time Machine utility also need to be cleared out somehow so it doesn't look for the old backups? And what about deleting local snapshots? I don't mind starting from scratch again if necessary, but I want to make sure I'm really getting a clean slate.
Thank you to anyone who has ideas about this!

Use one of the apps in #A2 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting to see what's really getting backed-up.
Also verify your internal HD and repair the external and the TM drive, to be sure there isn't directory damage.
If that doesn't help, try repairing your backups, per #A5 in the above link.

    Only as a last resort.
doesn't the Time Machine utility also need to be cleared out somehow so it doesn't look for the old backups?
No.  It looks at the last backup on the drive, then figures out what's been changed since then.  If the drive is empty, it just starts from scratch.
And what about deleting local snapshots?
No, they're completely separate and independent.

    hi,
you have killed the seesion.. but insert operations are not needed or what? if you don't want any insert from that user then give priveleges acccordingly.
coz, the import may be needed for some application. or else increase the redo log files.
    to find which process
check the holding session from dba_waiter and check whether the session using any insert or update statement..(find the query).. even u can check from ps-ef |grep arch..
instead of killing you can do any other alteration or inform user to import at a less consuption DB time..
    regards,

  • Asking too much and getting a "stack over flow error"

I’m having AS3 create 12 random var (play1, play2, etc) and then I ask it to average the 12 vars (numbers) until I get a specific average number. When I run this in AS2 I get the “script time error, keep running?” question. I tell it to keep running and eventually AS2 finds the right set of 12 numbers to equal a specific average number. In AS3 I get a “stack over flow error”. I know that all my AS3 swf needs is just more time to find it.
    Any ideas for a fix?

If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive.

Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

This happens sporadically after the computer has been on for awhile. How can a keyboard or mouse draw too much power from the computor? These are the only things plugged in. Please help, I need my keyboard/mouse.

See "About This Mac" from the Apple menu in the menu bar, and there than under USB, for what's all connected to the USB controllers in your Mac. You'll be surprised, it's not only keyboard, mouse, or what else you use externally.
It also shows you what pulls how much current. Anything pulling the max current can be causing it, either due to a defect or some irregular configuration. Anyway, you should get pointers where to continue searching.

  • SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'top' of undefined or null and too much recursion

I am not sure about placing two questions into one post, but here it goes:
The error above  "SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'top' of undefined or null" is coming from this function:
    Code:
    $(function () { //this is the way to run your code at the DOM Ready event  $('a').click(function () { $('html, body').animate({ scrollTop: $($(this).attr('href')).offset().top }, 1500); return false; });  });
This is the effected code I believe that is causing the problem:
    Code:
    scrollTop: $($(this).attr('href')).offset().top
the error occurs when I click on a "clear" button in my form. My website is one long page and that function allows my navigation to slide up and down the site. Without it, everytime you click a nav, it jumps to that anchor.
For the 2nd problem, the too much recursion, the problem lies within here:
    Code:
    function () { if ($.isReady) return; imReady = true; $.each($.includeStates, function (url, state) { if (!state) return imReady = false }); if (imReady) { $.readyOld.apply($, arguments) } else { setTimeout(arguments.callee, 10) } }
where the error is actually coming from the 2nd "function" script. This is part of the browser compatibility script for mozilla/opera at the top of the index page. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Ahh I apologize. I simply was posting to JavaScript forums in hopes of
finding a solution. Sorry for the mixup.

  • How do i get rid of "other" on macbook air? its taking up too much room

How do I get rid of the "other" storage space on my macbook air? it takes up too much on my small 64GB macbook air? I must get rid of it as I have now space to put anything on my computer.

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.
