Always/Only 72dpi ?????

I recently bought a Sony H5 7.2 MP camera to which iPhoto happily wakes up and imports pictures flawlessly - they look great too but I'm having a bit of confusion here.
My pics are taken in the FINE resolution mode with a width of 3072 pixels and a height of 2304 at it's highest setting. When imported into iPhoto the size remains but they all become 72dpi JPGs ranging on average from 2-3.5Mb files per pic.
I verified that they were all 72dpi by looking at them in Photoshop as well, though here I can also see that the image size itself is 42.667 inches x 32 inches.
I come from a background of doing desktop publishing where we learn very early on that any jpg photo file that is less than 300dpi is unacceptable for print! In Photoshop I can go from 72dpi to 300dpi and the image size drops down to 10.24 inches x 7.68 inches, but that's akin to squeezing the image down to gain denser resolution...
I can't find any reference in my camera's manual as to the exact dpi resolution, but I have to think it's better than 72dpi ?!?! Am I missing something here or is the fact that it produces a very very large image size where the missing dpis have gone?
Would importing the photos into a different application, or in a different way, offer higher dpi resolutions as options or default? I can see no way in iPhoto to do this.

Thanks, that's what I suspected was going on - I'll have to use Photoshop then to achieve 300+ppi for "print quality"...
Let's go the other way now. For uploading to websites, the only way I can see to shrink a file in iPhoto is to Export. Here, the only option is to "scale" the image(s) width and height to reduce it/them. Here, the image(s) gets smaller but keep the 72ppi resolution thus losing quality the smaller they get, plus you have no idea what size (in kB) the resulting file will be until after you've done the export.
In Photoshop you get complete control over the file size, resolution etc. but have to do it one pic at a time. iPhoto is nice because you can do export to lots of files at once...just wondering if there are any utilities that would allow more fine tweaking - like for instance, I would like the largest file size created from this export to be no more than 85kB..that would be nice...

Anytime I try to print in Firefox a Microsoft KB article that is 1 page, I always only get the first page.

Anytime I print any Microsoft KB article, I only get the first page worth of text. This is very troubling because the articles are typically long, and I only get 1 page. The second page always comes out blank (even though in IE it will print out multiple pages with all the text).
My specific example today is listed in the URL below. This example will only print to the "DIR" command, I don't get the full page printed out.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a resolution? I hate having to hit up IE just to print a single article.
I updated to FF 8.01 just to make sure, and I have tried different printers and even computers, to no avail. Even the print preview has the issue, only the first page worth of text is printed and the second page is always blank (even if there are 3, 4, 5, etc pages of data to be printed).
I have also tried the Firefox Menu -> Print command, and the "on-page" print command. I have seen moderate success with highlighting all the text that I want to print and going to "Print-Selection" but it is ugly.
Any feedback or assistance is greatly appreciated.

Need help for "yes or no" or option 1/2/3 but always only one choice

Hello I am a designer not a scripter, so I need some help. I did a form with "yes or no" checkboxes or A/B/C but always the user should only pick one of that. So if i press "yes" it´s fine but if I change my mind andthna check "no" "yes has to be uncheckt automatically. I also have things with 3 checkboxes with the same function - coukd someone help me with the right scripts?

Give both the "yes" and "no" check boxes the same name (Check Box Properties > General tab), but different export values (Check Box Properties > Options tab).

DataGrid always only showing 1 record when there should be 5

When I do the "Test Operation" in the Data/Services pane, I can pull back the expected 5 records, however at run time, a grid that pulls data using the exact same operation and same input value, it only shows the first record. Is there a setting that is preventing the grid from showing all records, or, is there a runtime setting that is limiting the number of records pulled back?

Are you getting the data from a database or is it internal xml?

Yup, you want LTE all the time. As Loquat stated, LTE = 4G
when you are sitting next to someone and the phone says 4G, it is a ATT or T mobile connection. They have fake or faux 4G that is a step down from LTE. It really is 3G+ but they came up with the fake 4G. This is why Verizon put LTE to indicate it is real 4G technology, not hype.

How to get keyReleased() to always only respond to one key?

I want a picture to move right when hold the right arrow key down. However, I want the picture to stop moving right when I release it. So, first I check the keyCodes to make sure its the right arrow key.
However, if I hold down the right arrow key, and then I press and release any other key, and then I release the arrow key, then the keyReleased code for the right arrow key doesn't happen.
Is there a simple way to fix this?

Are you using Swing (you don't mention if it's Swing, AWT, SWT,...)? If so, you probably want to use Key Bindings. The best source of information for this is in the Sun Java Swing tutorials: [How to Use Key Bindings|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/keybinding.html] .
If you want to distinguish between key press and release, you'll need to look into the [KeyStroke API|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/KeyStroke.html] .

How do I get my iMac AirPort to only lock onto my wirless router and not others?

Everytime I power up my iMac I have to use the AirPort drop down menu to select my Wi-Fi network from a long list.
Is there a way to set my Air Port Preferences so that it always only picks up my Wi-Fi signal automatically?
Saving me the time form always having to select it....

In System Prefs -> Network -> Advanced Tab see if your network is at the top of the list. If not, click and drag it there.

Idea Centre K only starts up 50% of the time; I am confused.

I have a new Lenovo Idea Centre K desktop with 64bits and Windows Vista. Unfortunately, the computer only makes it past the "Lenovo" booting screen about half the time. The computer freezes on this screen, I must hold down the power button, then start again, where it will always start the next time. This freezing occurs before the beep part with the blinking cursor. If it makes it past the Lenovo screen, there is always only one beep. Usually, the times it doesn't start are after 12 or more hours when the computer is turned off. After I shut it down and try again, it will start every time and work fine thereafter. I checked that it is properly set to 115V for my regional power needs. This issue is annoying because I must watch the computer power up rather than push the button and let it power while I do other activities. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We can look into the issue generically and see if there are any thoughts on things to try. To make more progress, it would be helpful to know which model K series desktop you have, and a bit about your configuration, and whether this pattern is consistent.
Does it always fail to boot all the way through on first power up, and then always successfully go through on the retry? What, if anything has been added or externally connected to the system via USB or other ports?

Aperture 3.4.5 displays only a portion of some photos

Since I updated to Aperture 3.4.5, I see only a portion of some photos after I double click them in the library in Aperture. The same partial view now shows up in iPhoto as well. For a nanosecond, I see the full image as it is enlarging, but when it opens the image fully, it shows only a corner. It is possible that these are only photos that I edited in a previous version of iPhoto, before I was using Aperture.
Anyone else seen this? Any solutions? Thanks!

Thanks Kirby for the suggestions. I deleted preferences, and that did not change this behavior. In Aperture, I repaired the library, and that did not help either. In Aperture, I also repaired permissions, and that also did not help.
I tried to determine what might distinguish the photos where this was happening, but haven't found the key yet. They seem to be all photos that are labeled in Aperture as "iPhoto externally edited image," but not all the photos marked that way have this problem. It is possible that the problem is confined to images from my old Canon 20D, that show up in Aperture labeled as "iPhoto externally edited image."
I have confirmed that the entire image is there in each case. If I open the library in iPhoto, I see the partial images, but then if I move through the affected photos with the arrow keys, I will see the entire image. Otherwise, I always only see a small corner of the image at full size, in both iPhoto and Aperture. It appears to be a thumbnail issue in Aperture. May related to using my iPhoto library as my Aperture library?

Mac to PC video chat connects only one way?

This may be somewhat off topic for Mac users, but maybe someone in the community can still help me.
I have a strange problem using iChat AV 3 on a MacBook and AIM 5.9 on a PC for video chat. I can readily establish video chat when the PC contacts the Mac, but vice versa the video chat cannot be established. The PC gets the invitation to video chat, but as soon as it accepts the connection is terminated, and I keep getting a firewall error message. Instant messaging between the computers can be established both ways. I assume that one crucial port on the PC is blocked by the firewall. Scouting this and other forums I found lists of possible ports that need to be opened, and I tried all of them, but nothing works. Tried the DMZ for the PC, which didn't work either. Tried deactivating Windows Firewall, which didn't work. Any other ideas?
The PC set up is as follows:
Thinkpad T23 with Windows XP SP2; Windows Firewall on, AIM port allowed; Netgear Router MR814v2; UPnP activated, no port forwarding at this point; AIM 5.9
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I monitored the contact attempts using connection
doctor, and it didn't give me any error messages on
the mac side. To answer your other question, I did
activate UPnP in the Windows Firewall as well as in
the router, but that didn't help either. It turns out
that activating or deactivating UPnP on the router
doesn't make a difference. It always only connects
one way. I did however activate windows firewall
error logging, and it gave the following log

Not being an expert in this maybe someone can give me
a hint based on this. The three final UDP drops in
the Mac to PC connect attempt make me suspicious, but
I'm not sure how to address this. I think I tried
forwarding this port to the PC without success.

Could you have a look together with Ralph if maybe the Adobe Bridge is malfunctioning. I have found a missing component wich is known and documented. This is the bug report and the way to fix it. I have found it in my own computer, after fixing it the iChat suddenly worked. I suggest you take the missing part (the update file you were asking about Ralph, it is lost in a file named update) and run Fritz' test again. If the code progressively gets better then we have pinned down the "random" factor of the malfunction. The documentation you find here: http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332537.html. It blocks the airport. A lot of peolple run Adobe foto shop, mine came from Elements. So, do expect progress... Have to bring my daughter to school now. See you later. I have a 24 second clip I layered in Ps and when I import the psd into Pr THE SEQUENCE IS ALWAYS ONLY 10 SECONDS!
How can I change this? Why does this happen? I really need to know as soon as possible. I have a video project due this Wednesday (granted it's for an AV class where I'm just learning Pr. But I can learn VERY FAST!)

Just in case I wasn't clear in my last line "just Click-drag on the Tail of your .PSD to set the desired Duration," once you have Imported your .PSD (as Footage), just drag it to the Timeline, Click-drag on the right-hand margin (the Tail) and stretch out its Duration, as is required.
Now, if you Imported as a Sequence, open that Sequence's Timeline, and do the same.
I normally will set my Edit>Preferences>Still Duration to about what I think will be applicable, do my Import, and then with the Info Panel handy, just alter the Duration to suit.

Printing only first page of multiple PDF's

I need to be able to process a stack of PDF documents.
What I need: to always print-out only the first page of all documens.
These are invoices with sometimes 5 pages, sometimes 2....but I only need to archive the frontpage.
So: opening each of these maybe 100 documents and always only print the first page manually seems a bit like "nonsense" to me.
Could do this on a friends machine who has an Acrobat Pro X installed.

IPhoto '09: Exporting Edits changes photo to 72dpi

*How do I export photos I have edited in iPhoto '09 at the full 300dpi?*
I have made edits to some of my photos in iPhoto '09. These edits look 'great' so I want to export these ready to take to my local photo printing company (on USB stick).
However, I find *iPhoto changes my photos from 300dpi to 72dpi* either during the edit process or upon export.
If I select File Export and 'Original' it exports at 300dpi but without edits (understandable given non-destructive editing).
If I select File Export and 'Current' it exports the relevant edits but at only 72dpi.
If I select File Export and 'JPEG' - then Maximum Quality and Full Size - it exports at 72dpi.
I want to print these photos at large sizes and 72dpi is unacceptable. I need them at the 300dpi and want the edits to be included. What am I 'missing'??? I cannot see an answer through the forums and discussions to date...

Read the Myth of DPI - http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/mythdpi.html - and ignore it the DPI setting on the exported photos - it makes no difference - the important thing is the number of total pixels you have - not an artificial number like DPI

SQL Cluster with FQDN only (no instance names)

Is it possible to setup a SQL failover cluster with multiple instances but basically be named the "default instance".
Right now I have three instances: AAA, BBB, and CCC. With failover clusters you associate each SQL instance with its own Drive, its own cluster name, etc. So right now this is how you connect:
aaa.db.domain.com\AAA
bbb.db.domain.com\BBB
ccc.db.domain.com\CCC
Is there a way that you can make it where people can connect by not providing an instance name? Because there is always only one instance per virtual server / fqdn:
aaa.db.domain.com
bbb.db.domain.com
ccc.db.domain.com

So Azure is not using a regular SQL server? I figured they were just using SQL 2014 or such because they offer Azure services for on-premisis now in your own datacenter.
SQL Azure is definitely not the same as an on-premises SQL Server.
