Always prompted for "802.1X Authentication" user name and password

Hi,
Just had the logic board replaced in my Macbook Pro, but that's an different story...
The most recent side effect of this is that I am always prompted for my password/user name when I connect to the wireless network at work.
Obviously, I enter the name and password. However, I didn't used to have to do this. In other words, it's not being saved.
Any suggestions on what I can do so it's saved again?
The Network preference panel reports:
Authenticated via PEAP (Inner Protocol:GTC)
The 802.1X pane shows I have 1 'User Profiles':
WPA:<network>
Which has:
my name
a password
Authentications enabled:
PEAP
TTLS
EAP-FAST

Hi,
it might have something to do with your logic board exchange. Your MAC address (Media Access Control, Ethernet-ID, AirPort-ID, Hardware Address or what you want to call it) has changed. Every network interface has a distinct address which looks like that: 01:23:45:ab:cd:ef
I would ask your company's admin first if it has something to with you having a new MAC address.
Alternatively you could try to remove the wlan from Sys Prefs/Network/AirPort/Options/Preferred Networks. Also remove any saved passwords of this network from your keychain and then try adding it again with the remember-checkbox on.

Quote: "You cannot merge two or more Apple IDs into a single one. You can, however, use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). See “Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases” above for details." See also Apple ID & iCloud FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
You can set up your iCloud account on your iOS device under: "Settings > iCloud" and a other account for store purchases under "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Unfortunately merging accounts is not possible but you could transfer all of your music manually via iTunes from your Mac or PC.

How to create a web service and web service client where the need is to authenticate using SOAP Header based authentiacation. The authentication is to be based on UserName and Password in the SOAP Header.

    Dear Pierluigi Vernetto
What is meant when they say to include SOAPHeader with the parameters UserName, Password for Authentication. How this type of authentication is done. Can you please provide some code snipped to facilitate. I am new to the web services and did successfully a web service generation and client generation using WSDL.
    WSDL Snippet :
    - <wsdl:operation name="RegisterService">

What needs to be done for the Client side .jsp code and how this information of UserName and Password will be passed while making the call to the web service.

  • When I enter my user name and password for my e-mail account, the page won't open

My e-mail account page won't open after I enter my user name and password on the log-in page. I have vcrified with Suddenlink that my user name and password are correct.

    Thanks Peter.
Partial success in that I have been able to get mails onto the iPad  - however....
Progress from a previous 'rumage' on problem discussions.    I have succeded in setting up the iPad so that it receives emails from the sky address under 'MAIL' on the iPad.    However trying to open in the 'usual' way   -  safari - then sky  -  then email  -  enter user name and password  -  I get the same result  -  it just returns to the log in menu for sky email with user name and password blank.
I had a previous problem with the sky mail ceasing to show recent mails, frozen in time on the iPad.   Somehow by trying some reset instructions I was able to 'unlock' the iPad and all was OK until it 'froze' again.    This time I clearly screwed up attempts to unlock, resulting in not being able to access email accounts via the Sky site !!

  • HP 8600 User Name and password

HP service is not good.  I need to find/reset my user name and password...wont allow me to scan to email...how do this?

    Hello tfurey58,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
If you would like to reset the user name and password on the printer, the easiest way to do this would be to Restore Network Defaults on the printer.
From the home screen on the printer, use the right arrow key and go to the Setup menu. Navigate to the Network Menu and then scroll down the menu until you see Restore Network Defaults.  Follow the prompts to restore the network.  Once it is complete, you will then need to go through the Wireless Setup Wizard.
You will be prompted to in put a user name and password once again to gain  connection to the network.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • To download Contribute, how do I find SFTP number, user name and password?

To download Contribute, am asked for a SFTP number, user name and password.  How do I find those?
    Am using a Mac Mini.

I had been using an earlier version of Contribute, but when I upgraded to a Mac Mini, it no longer worked.   Then I got a new version on a trial basis.   When I tried to load to go full time with it a couple of days ago, I was asked for the SFTP number, user name and password.   I am trying to download and use on my Mac Mini in my home office.
I just don't know what the SFTP number is or where I'd find it.   I'm an uninformed, non-technical computer user.

  • Safari 3.2.1 User Names and Password Retention

Despite having checked the box in autofill to save user names and passwords, Safari no longer asks me whether I want to save them in the keychain. Also, I wonder if there is a different kind of glitch, as my screen for that window (under edit) does not show anything except remove and *remove all* and done. It has nothing for me to add user names and passwords if I wanted to do so manually. How can I convince Safari to memorize these user names and passwords? I've saved them for months, but all of a sudden they seem to have decided to take a long vacation.

Do you suggest the one about Safari Forms Autofill or some other one?
Leave the Safari Forms alone. Instead, delete any specific keychain entry relative to a web site with which you are having a problem. To facilitate the search, use the Spotlight Panel within the Keychain Access app. by typing in part or all of the related site name. When the entry appears, simply click on it, then press the delete key.
Regarding your comment about Safari's Auto-Fill, not sure what would automatically deselect this function within Safari. Might be a corrupt Safari preference file. To create a new file, go to the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. There, move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the trash, then restart Safari. You'll need to reestablish any custom settings in System Preferences, plus in Safari's View Menu.

  • WLAN network always prompts for user name and password...

    Hi,
Everytime Airport detects the WLAN of my institution, it prompts "Authenticating to network" and I have to put in my user name and password. Is there any way to store this information (probably in the keychain) so that an automatic login to the WLAN [as in my home network] is possible? The problem is that I can not find any button like "save this password in the keychain" [you can only put in user name and password]. Is it possible that my institution prevents automatic login?
I also tried to create an item in the keychain directly - does not work.
    Cheers

    Hi,
I agree in that there has to be a prompt for WLAN access. Otherwise just everyone could step by and use the access. But if I have to authenticate once, why should the institution prevent an automatic login for me in the future? Well, okay, if someone steals my notebook and knows my master password... hmm, so there is no way to locally (on my notebook) use some software that automatically puts in my user name and password so that I - maybe - only have to push the "Go/Enter/Access" button?
For example, some institutions use browsers to authenticate and 1Password, but also Safari natively, can automatically fill in the information.
    Cheers

  • I just switched to Charter. When going to Mozilla Firefox a box appears saying, Authentication Required and asks for a User name and Password. What do I do?

I switched from CenturyTel to Charter. I can't use Firefox because a box appears asking me for Authentication Required, User Name and Password. When I hit cancel, this message appears:
    HTTP 401 - Unauthorized
Authorization is required to access the configuration server.
You must enter the correct username and/or password.
When I called Charter, they told me they recommended using Internet Explorer. I told them I didn't want IE, I preferred Firefox. They recommended I go to your support page, so here I am. :o)

Have you reset the password recently for the email account?
A real simple fix usually is to delete the mail account (settings < mail contacts calendars, tap the affected account and choose delete at the bottom) Then re add the account.

  • Bypass user name and password prompt for sqlplus on Windows

    Hi folks,
I had oracle 10g installed on my Windows XP SP2 system and everytime I use sqlplus, it prompts for user name and password. Some folks wrote some Unix shell scripts which invokes "sqlplus" without giving it user name and password, and these scripts are running fine on Solaris. So I would like to make these script to work on my Windows box as well. But obviously, it asks me user name and password every time. Since it is a shell script, sqlplus << EOT .... EOT will fail right away with : Fatal NI connect error 12560, blah blah blah...
So my question is how to make sqlplus bypass the user name and password questions.
    Thanks,

No sqlplus /nolog does not connect you to the database, you still need to connect to the database.

  • AppleScript: Waiting for a user to enter user name and password

I'm currently working on an AppleScript designed to automate binding a computer to Active Directory and another script to install a login certificate. While you can create a UNIX shell script for the Active Directory binding, I found that you have to have your user name and password in the script itself and this system will be deployed by multiple people.
So instead I'm doing an GUI Automation AppleScript of Directory Utility. What I'd like to do is have the script to wait for the admin user (who will be remoting in by ARD) to enter their Network user and password, click okay and then continue the script to quit the program and then run a self-destruct (which I'd also appreciate any advice about doing in AppleScript)
Here's the script so far, which I've set up successfully:
    activate application "Directory Utility"
    tell application "System Events"
click text field 1 of row 1 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of group 1 of group 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click button 1 of group 1 of group 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click text field 2 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "EXAMPLE.COMPANY.com"
click UI element 3 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click radio button "Administrative" of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click checkbox "Allow administration by:" of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 1 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExamplePS NA"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 2 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleNA"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 3 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleNATemps"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 4 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleTeam 1"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 5 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleTeam 2"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 6 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleTeam 3"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 7 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleDesktop Admins"
click button 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
click row 8 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"
      keystroke "GroupExampleDomain Admins"
click button "Bind…" of sheet 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility
<<WAIT LINE HERE FOR NETWORK ADMIN AND AND PASS, THEN USER WILL CLICK OKAY, THEN CONTINUE SCRIPT>>
    <<QUIT ACTIVE DIRECTORY>>
    <<SELF-DESTRUCT>>
    end tell
It isn't a real command prompt like if you're changing System Preferences or something. It's a specialized prompt specifically for Directory Utility. However, I do need to know how to make AppleScript wait for a password for a standard Password Prompt for adding a certificate to the login keychain through Keychain Access. I've also done pretty much the same thing as above for that script.
Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yeah, I know GUI Scripting is not the best way, but I couldn't find a successful variable system for the following script. The other issue is that I'd prefer to send this by ARD and have ARD ask for a User Name and Password, but I've found there's no way to do that. Then again, I can't send the AppleScript purely remotely either.
What I mean by self-destruct is simply I only want the Active Directory binding script to run once upon login to the primary admin user and then delete itself so it doesn't get run again. The login certificate script I want to run once on each new user who logs in (so I'll likely be putting it in the "User Template") and then delete itself so it doesn't run the next time they log in. I can't figure out any way to hit those buttons through a shell script.
Here's the original UNIX shell script: (This is what I'm using temporarily until I figure out a solution that doesn't require my user name and password to be embedded)
    #! /bin/bash
    MACNAME=$(scutil --get ComputerName)
    dsconfigad -add "CORP.DOMAIN.NET" \
    -username USER \
    -password PASS \
    -computer $MACNAME \
    -mobile disable \
    -mobileconfirm disable \
    -localhome enable \
    -useuncpath enable \
    -shell /bin/bash \
    -ou OU=Macs,CN=Computers,DC=corp,DC=DOMAIN,DC=net \
    -force \
    -localpassword "PASSWORD" \
    -groups "GROUPS"
And here is the Certificate Installation AppleScript
    activate application "Keychain Access"
tell application "Finder" to open POSIX file "/FolderName/Certificate.crt"
    delay (3)
tell application "System Events" to tell process "Keychain Access"
click button "Add" of window "Add Certificates"
click button "Always Trust" of group 3 of sheet 1 of window "Keychain Access"
    end tell
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. This is a rather new field for me and most of my knowledge comes from Google Searches and about a billion tabs trying to find answers.

  • Can I use user names and password of Microsoft Office Outlook for hyperion

I'm new to Hyperion. Can anyone tell that can I use "user names" and "passwords" of Microsoft Office Outlook for login into hyperion applications.
I'm not talking about single sign on, but want to use same user names and passwords as that in Outlook.
    ANy suggestions?

That depends on how your Outlook authentication is configured.
Hyperion is generally configured to authenticate against a network directory (NTLM, MSAD or LDAP). I'm not an Outlook expert, but my Outlook user ID and password is almost always my MSAD id and password (I change clients regularly, and it's almost always the same situation). So it's also usually the same as my Hyperion ID and password.
Ask your Outlook administrator whether it uses (or syncs with) MSAD, NTLM or LDAP. If the answer is yes, then you're in good shape because Hyperion can use these as well.
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake

  • User Name- and Password-Based Mutual Authentication

    Hi,
The J2EE 1.4 Tutorial Update 1 shows an example of Client-Certificate Authentication over HTTP/SSL with JAX-RPC, but no User Name- and Password-Based Mutual Authentication example.
Does this work the same? Does the client need a certificate for User Name- and Password-Based Mutual Authentication?
I created my own self-signed certificate and imported it using the keytool. When I use my client to connect to my JAX-RPC web service, I get the following error: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found.
It seems that no trusted certificate is found... on the client side?! How do I specify the client certificate at the client side? I created a client certificate and added it to the keystore in the application server...
If somebody should have an example of User Name- and Password-Based Mutual Authentication, I'd really apreciate it.
    Thanks, d3m0.

    Hi,
I've almost the same problem. In an application based on Java Web Start, i try to attack a web service through HTTPS. Before the call of the web services, the client have discussed with the server through HTTPS, so the user have already accept the certificate (i use self-signed certificate too), i get the same exception.
At the begining i've used classes from axis. I've found that axis doesn't want to support non trusted certificate. Some workaround were that the client access the private key of the server ... not really secure. So i've tried to use the JAX-RPC classes, always the exception.
For the moment , we don't want to use trusted certificate and don't want to install on each user workstation the server certificate. I continue to investigate, if someone have some solution ? What i don't understand is why i've this exception altough i'm in a secure environment (JWS + user accepts the untrusted certificate).
Sorry, i've never work on User Name- and Password-Based Mutual Authentication, but i think your exception come because of self-signed certificate.
    Regard,
    Pierre.
