Always reinstall iTunes to recognize iPhone?

I have a new i7 15 inch MBP, connected to a Belkin Powered USB hub at work. Every morning I come in and sync the phone. Since I've set the computer up less than a week ago, the only way I can get the phone to show up in iTunes is a reinstall of iTunes. Is there a corrupt preference file somewhere?

When you're done syncing, reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service, & try each day without using your hub. Certain Apple services must be completely removed & done so in a certain order, so follow these directions:
Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service:
1. Disconnect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod from the Mac.
2. In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash.
3. Move the iTunes icon to the Trash.
4. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
5. Enter /System/Library/Extensions and click Go.
6. Locate the file AppleMobileDevice.kext and drag it to the Trash.
7. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
8. Enter /Library/Receipts/ and click Go.
9. Locate the file AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg and drag it to the Trash. If prompted, authenticate with the administrator password.
10. Restart the computer.
11. Choose Finder > Empty Trash and restart the computer.
12. Download and install the current version of iTunes.
13. Connect your device to the Mac again and open iTunes & see if you can sync now.
This will not affect your iTunes library.

  • ITunes wont recognize iPhone 5

Alright, I've had this problem for a while now, and I'm at my wit's end. Hope someone can help me.
First of all, I'm running Windows 8.0 on a Lenovo, using iTunes 11.1.5, and an iPhone on iOS 7.0.6.
Problem is, when I plug my iPhone 5 into my computer, the computer recognizes the iPhone, but for some reason, iTunes doesn't realize it's there. On top of that, every time I plug in, my phone gives me the same "Trust this computer?" prompt, like it doesnt recognize the computer I told it to trust 5 seconds ago. A couple times, I got lucky and iTunes dignified me with a "An iPhone has been detected, but could not be identified properly." prompt. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile device driver, updating everything, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my iphone settings, but nothing works. Any ideas?

Having the exact same problem with my iPhone 4S.
This started happening right after upgrading iTunes to 11.1.5 - never encountered this issue before.
Tried doing the same thing you mentioned above with no luck at all.

  • Updated iTunes to latest version (10.4.1.10) resulted in computer no longer recognising my iPhone 4. Uninstalled and then reinstalled iTunes, still my iPhone is not detected by iTunes.

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • Itunes wont recognize iphones 4s

I just got my iphone 4s through virgin mobile.  I have tried reinstalling itunes, updating my iphone, restarting it, restarting my computer and itunes still wont show my iphone.  I am not sure what else to do from here and not really getting any help from what I see on google.
    Thanks

This problem is probably down to one of three problems.
    1) Have you tried using a different cable? I know that it seems unlikely that you have a faulty cable but that could be the problem - do try a different cable.
    2) Have you tried using a different USB port when pluggin in your iphone cable? Sometimes, for various reasons, a particular USB port gets hung up and just plugging a device into a different port can solve the problem.
    3) If (1) or (2) don't solve the problem then it might be that the Apple Mobile Device Driver is not installed on your computer. You can find the device driver (along with the suggestions to solve this problem) using this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US . Number 5, gives you links to the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
Good luck with these and do report back.

  • Reinstalling itunes as my iphone 4 needs 10.1 or higher

reinstalling itunes as my iphone 4 needs 10.1 or higher to work.  the download is taking forever and now stuck on 77% ive spent all night on this

    Hello natalie 187,
I'm not sure if your trying the iTunes download on a desktop or portable Mac or PC.
    If it's a portable:
Find a WiFi hotspot such as:
    http://www.att.com/gen/general?wtSlotClick=1-005MZP-0-1&pid=13540
I found a nearby McDonalds and bought coffee.
Also, goto Apple>Support>Downloads and not iTunes for the download. I read in the
    past that this helps.
From your profile/stuff I could'nt really tell what you have but I hope this reply
gets you started. I get it. Sounds like all you really want to do is synch your iPhone.
    Good Luck,
    A

  • My itunes can not upgrade. it is looking for athe Itunes.MSI file, but it is unable to find it on the C:drive.  How do I correct the error, and reinstall Itune for my Iphone, Ipad and Ipod?

My itunes can not upgrade. it is looking for athe Itunes.MSI file, but it is unable to find it on the C:drive.  How do I correct the error, and reinstall Itune for my Iphone, Ipad and Ipod?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Windows 8.1 itunes wont recognize iphone

Go to your device Manager by: Going the search in your charm bar and typing in Device Manager.
Expand Portable devices and or Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for your device.
Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and chooseUpdate Driver from the shortcut menu.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.
If that doesnt work you can go click this link and follow the guide from apples website
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US

go into the control panel (hover in the lower right corner to bring up the menu that leads you there)
    go to programs, add/remove programs
uninstall iTunes, apple mobile device service, apple application support
then go out and redownload and reinstall iTunes. Try again to sync
There seems to be something where an iTunes update doesn't write over all the drivers. The only way to m ake it write the right drivers is to delete the old ones and force iTunes to start over.
You won't lose any of your music.

  • Itunes wont recognize iphone 4s

itunes will not recognize iphone 4s. I have gone through the trouble shootinging steps that Apple provides but will still not work. Any suggestions?

If connecting in recovery mode did not work, did you try to connect to another computer, to make sure your phone has no hardware failure?

Have you solved this problem? I downloaded the new version of itunes with a view to download the new update for the iphone 4 and now it does not pick up my phone. My PC does not even see it. • ITunes wont recognize iPhone 4

Downloaded the new iTunes (12.0.1.26) and try to sync my new music with iTunes but my iPhone 4 (iOS 7) wont even come up in itunes! It comes up on my computer (windows 8) and i can browse photos etc through that route. I have tried running itunes diagnostics and no luck. This has only started to happen with the new itunes update. After plugging it into my laptop, my iphone says do you want to trust this computer and i click trust and it then disconnects the iPhone and reconnects it itself.

    Hi ..
You may need to disable your anti virus software prior to clicking, "trust".

  • Itunes cannot recognize iphone 4

Everytime I need to do the following to connect my iphone 4 with iTunes.
    1. Run command prompt as Administrator
    2. Execute a command 'Netsh winsock reset'
    3. Restart the system
I am using Windows 7 SP1 in my laptop. iPhone is using iOS 5.0.1.
Even about a month back I could connect the iphone normally with iTunes.
Not sure if the updated iTunes is the culprit. I tried to remove and reinstall the program but no success.
To check my iPhone I tested it in a MAC. It works absolutely fine.
I tried to find solution through many forums but couldn't make any headway.
    Please help

Right mouse click iTunes icon, select Properties, then 'Compatibility' tab, check the box 'Run as Administrator'.
After netsh winsock reset, you may get a prompt after restarting windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
However, if you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Reinstall iTunes library from iPhone

I realize now that there is no way to transfer songs, videos, podcasts from my Phone to iTunes (I recently had to do an erase and install) - but I did save a previous system folder prior to the erase and install. Is there somewhere in that folder that I may find my old iTunes library and reinstall to the new iTunes?

Depends on what that system folder is... by default, iTunes music files are stored in
    /Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/
Have you tried seeking a third party application to recover your library from your iPhone and saving it to iTunes?
