Always seen as available

I have the problem with Skype on Windows 7, 64*. To my friends am seen as available even when I'm not connected to internet or when I'm signed out of Skype. It's really anoying to me and to others, because they never really know when I'm actually "online".
This problem started to apear probably a week ago, when my boyfriend warned me about it.
So I started solving the problem with changing my password, for safety reasons. But the problem reappeared.
I'm loged in with Skype acc. on my computer Skype and with the same acc. on my tablet Skype. So I've tryed to logout from my Microsoft acc, but wasn't even loged in with it.
I turned off my computer and my tablet and unpluged them, but the problem was still there.
I also reinstalled Skype.
What I do, when I want to logout is: I go offline and then sign out, but I'm still visible as available.
So, for now nothing worked.
Any advice?

It's likely the tablet Skype application that is the reason for this. Can you share which operating system you are using on your tablet?

Always On New Availability Group - Full backup is required

Just trying to create a New Availability Group for AlwaysOn , I see the database is listed, in the status it says: "Full backup is Required. The database is AdventureWorks2012, i have taken a full backup, but still see the message. I did an attach
using .mdf/ldf files for this db, it is full mode.
Created a test db and did a full backup, this shows up ok as "meets prerequisites". Just curious what wrong with the AdventureWorks2012 db from MS.

Hi Ranga,
After setting a database to full recovery mode, a full backup is required to initiate the full-recovery log chain.
I think AdventureWorks2012 is a normal database the same as the test database you created. You could try it again.

When using lotus notes travel I cannot open or even see email attachments with firefox 4

I use Lotus notes travel to view emails. Before downloading Firefox 4 (I was using the previous version) attachments to emails were always seen and available. Neither seeing or viewing is true with Firefox 4.

Which Edition of Windows is required for using SQL 2012 Always On Availability Groups

I want to use the new feature of having 2 secondary mirror replicas. the first secondary replica will be sync the second one will be async.
Currently I have SQL Enterprise license and Windows 2008 R2 Standard license.
Will I be required to upgrade to Windows Enterprise license to use Always On? (since this feature depends on Windows clustering?)
Can you please confirm if SQL Always On feature can be used on Windows 2008 R2 standard or not?

Always On is available with Standard Edition but it supports only 2 nodes.
AlwaysOn is a bigger umbrella which covers two features. AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AG) and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instance (FCI).
FCI for 2 node is supported. You can't use AG feature in SQL Server Standard Edition

Inconsistent Mac Availability on Network

Have a situation where my primary Mac (iMac) is inconsistently available to other macs and devices on the network. Screen sharing and File sharing are on in the Sharing preferences. Typically after a reboot is when things work the best, but it doesn't take long before the iMac no longer registers as a "Shared" device in the left hand column of a Finder window on a networked Mac.
Similarly, on other devices (iPads, iPhones) the iMac is also not "seen" as available. I suspect something might be wrong with Bonjour Services, but I'm unable to isolate for sure. Reboots usually work... as does clicking on the "Airdrop" icon in a finder window of the iMac... almost as if that "awakens" Bonjour services to start advertising the iMac as available for sharing. That should be the case irrespective of Airdrop. Additionally, I've seen that clicking Screen Sharing and File Sharing off and on in the Sharing preference pane usually gets things going again.
With the advent of iOS 5 wi-fi syncing, I'd love to figure this out so I don't have to manually nudge Bonjour Services into action.
Anybody have any good suggestions to try?

a) Not too sure what you mean by that. Your network is working fine right right now?
It should do the same after a restart so you should not worry about that.
I got your question, you mean you are wondering, after a restart, without logging in, if the server is still working fine and all the network functions are working
It does for me, I'm not too sure if always does but our Mac Pro Server is doing exactly that.

Regarding the auto restart there is an option in the system preferences. It's 'Mac Apple symbol on the top left -> System Prefrences -> Energy saver' -> and then on the bottom right you should see a button that says 'Schedule'.
There you can define a time the computer is restarting / shutting off / sleeping / waking up / obbting up etc.
I do it for my 'everyday work'. I let it wake up about 5 minutes before I get to office and scheduled it to sleep about half an houre after I leave work (just in case I have to say longer at times... )
For disabling the 'autlogin' feature you go again to System preferences -> Users&Groups.
There should be on the bottom left an options where it says 'Login Options' (It might be locked so you needs the admin password).
As soon as you click on 'Login options' you'll see on the middle right an option where it says 'automatic login'. There you can either define a certain user to log in, or simply turn it off, so that nobody get's logged in automatically.

Available Application Deployments with Mandatory Primary Device Deployments

I am at a client where the overall deployment plan for applications was to use the user-centric model in SCCM 2012. The users roam from machine to machine and want the apps to be serviceable by the app catalog. This is easy and has been setup.
However, we have been thrown a curve ball and now there is an additional requirement to deploy the users apps as a mandatory deployment to their primary device. The issue we have seen is that we can't have mandatory deployments and available deployments
without duplicating a lot of effort. If we set up a deployment to be required it installs to all machines when they log on to them. We have also managed to get to the point where we have set-up a mandatory deployment with the requirement set for
'primary device only', but when you look in Software Center you still see the app, but with a status of failed. Is there a way of achieving this model - Pre-installs for the user on there primary device on day one and is only available from the catalog
on all other machines?

No, it's not possible to create exactly that. The main reason is that you need to deploy something as available to a user to make it appear in the application catalog, but at that moment the requirements of that application are not "checked".
Those requirements will be "checked" when the user will select to install that specific application. So, basically that will mean that a user will always see the available application in the application catalog.

Aperture photos available in 'screen saver' but not 'desktop'

In 'System Preferences' the Aperture photos are available in 'screen saver' but not 'desktop'.
Any ideas?

As far as I know, those two lists come from the same place. I've always seen them both contain the same items. However, they do not look the same for some reason. Under Desktop, I have to open several disclosure triangles before I get to my Aperture photos, but with Screen Saver, they are already open at the top level.

Available()-not a reliable method

I have a programme in which i am using the available() method to read the no. of bytes available, if the bytes read are > 0 than furhter processing is done, if bytes read are < 0 throw error.It is seen that eventhough my client submit job with EOF the available() fails to pick it in my programme(scenario seen 1:10 ratio).
It is said in few articles that available() is not a safe method to rely on while reading data from input stream.If so what is the alternative to available()?

It is safe, but it is not always implemented (e.g. in SSLSockets), and where is it specified to return -1 at end of file? I've never seen this.
available() is also pretty well useless. It tells you how many bytes if any can currently be read without blocking at the time you called available(). Obviously this can change between calling available() and calling read().
All the discussions of available() in this forum and elsewhere that I have ever seen end by concluding that you should just call read() and be done with it.
read() knows about how many bytes are available too, it is specified to know about EOF, and if you don't want to block indefinitely you can always set a read timeout. OTOH if you have something else to do between reads it is usually best to use a separate reading thread.

How do I Stop automatic downloads of Movies and Shows... Apparently iTunes will begin downloading every available show or movie I have even after I have told it to delete the shows

I have Season 1 of Elementary. I do not want it downloaded to my laptop. I purchase a new movie and begin the download of the movie. iTunes immediately begins downloading EVERYTHING that I have not downloaded. the Entire Season of Elementary along with all the other Seasons I have and ALL the iTunes Extras that I HATE SO MUCH cause they wont go away. Even when I Hide the iTunes Extras... They still want to download... I have gone thru preferences and settings but can't find any setting to stop this type of action... Anyone have any ideas???

I would try deselecting the options Always check for available downloads, Download pre-orders when available, and Automatic Downloads of Music, Apps and Books, under Edit > Preferences > Store, sign out of the store, clear the iTunes store cache under Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and clear the contents of <Media Folder>\Downloads.
In some cases the iTunes Store may remember that you have items waiting to be delivered in your queue. In such cases you will need to ask the store support staff to flush the queue for you.

How do I change the font color in the email app so it's always black on white?

I would like the phone to always have good contrast between the font and the background. Right now it's set so major items are black, but lesser items are gray (just like this website!!). This is difficult to read. How can I set it so they are all black on white? There are lots of older users whose eyes are not as able to distinguish small print with poor contrast as younger folks can.

I've always seen email have black font on a white background unless someone sends something in HTML or something colored. I believe that would depend on the sender, not the receiver. With the exception maybe of the date of the mail.
I'm not aware of any other settings that you could change for that.

Function in update task goes to dialog process(seen by sm50)

I wrote a simple test to invoke a function module in update task, and the execution of the module takes several minutes (updating database using opensql) . The test looks simply like described in the following link:

During the run, I used transaction sm50 to view the working processes and expect to find a running "UPD" process. However it is not found, instead my dialog process is always seen running. Any hints on why?

got the answer. The reason is that sm50 can not display UPD process so promptly. For a more thorough tracing, transaction "stad" can be used. (where I see the DB access executed in UPD process)

Attachment available in integration scenario

I have a query. I would be soon going to do an implementation of sap cloud with crm onPremise. It will involve replication of opportunity, activity etc back & forth.
My question is : Do attachments attached to opportunity or activity in onPremise system will be available in cloud system as well implementing PI as middleware using integration guide given by SAP. Reason for the question is that i do not see a way for Idoc or weservice to send attachments.
Have you seen this available as standard integration working in cloud solution.

Default Theme is no longer available in Themes form

For a long I've used (and still do) the Charamel Theme in Firefox v3.6.13 under Window XP SP3 ENG. When I used then Main Menu >> Tools >> Extensions I've always seen an entry regarding the Charamel Theme as well as an entry regarding the Default Theme. Suddenly, when i go there there's only the Charamel Theme entry. The default theme entry is gone !!. I'm not able to switch back to the default theme any more. How could I restore that entry ?

We in Tennessee, just published our site last week using the new Site Manager. In the new environment, the course icon is added in the individual Collection "Feed" link on the "Collections" page. The template for each category or tag page is assigned from the "Pages" page.
In preparing for the transition from the old environment to the new Site Manager, I couldn't find any other way to add the icon graphics.
