Always start apps in full screen

Ever since Mavericks when I go full screen on an app then quit (while on fullscreen) and then reopen the app (Safari for example) it doesn't open the app in full screen, this used to be Mountain Lion's default behavior but I want some apps to always open in full screen, lately I've found some apps that behave like this (Mail Pilot for example) but not all my apps. Is there any way to force this behavior? I don't know if it just happens to me but I haven't been able to find any similar questions anywhere.

I have seen this same answer shilled all over the discussion forums, but it isn't really a solution, it's a workaround.  It doesn't allow Safari to relaunch in Full-Screen, it allows Safari to re-open your previous full-screen window upon launch, there IS a difference.  Specifically, if you ever close your Safari window, any new windows will not be presented full screen; same if Safari every unexpectedly quits
The central issue is that there is a change in behavior here, with or without the indicated checkbox is selected, Mail and Calendar both re-launch in full screen mode, while Safari does not.
The workaround is a decent crutch of a solution, but it would be great to have an actual true fix.

  • How To Start Applications in Full Screen?

    Hey guys,
Basically, there are particular applications such as Mail and Calender that I want to start at Login in Full Screen Mode. Currently, regardless of whether I've closed them when in Full Screen, they always reopen in their 'windowed' state. Is there a way (whether editing script, or ticking a box!) to start them in Full Screen consistently?
    Thanks a lot,
    Tom

Uncheck the box indicated in the screenshot below and the app should start in the same mode as you quit it in (i.e., if it was in FS mode when you quit, it'll open in FS mode).

  • How do I start firefox in full screen?

I would like to start Firefox in LINUX environment from the command line. That is easy just type FIREFOX and hit enter or call a script for that instruction ios what I do.
The challenge is to start the browser FULL SCREEN, WITHOUT showing the cursor on the pages. - [In reality I want to add the F11 parameter in the start script as well as as "do not show the cursor (No idea to invoke it manually). This is a web app running on PC with a touch screen. Secondly I would like to refresh (Shift+F5) every hour or so without human intervention. (take into account the browsers shows full screen and here is no cursor available, so some kind of delete cash in the background or refresh complete website (like doing a Shift+F5)
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards

If you close Firefox 4 while in full screen mode then the browser should start in full screen mode the next time. That setting is stored in localstore.rdf in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].
If you want to prevent toolbars from opening if you hover to the top then hide the full-screen-toggler with code in userChrome.css

  • How to make apps. open full screen at start up in Mavericks?

    Hi everyone,
Last week i just bought a mac & im new to mac osx. i just wanted to know when i put some apps like calendar to start at login,i put them in full screen mode but when i restart osx, it will open in regular window not full screen, interesting thing is, some apps like mail & utorrents open full screen at start up but some apps like safari & calendar dont,
is there any way to make any apps to open in full screen at start up or even when everytime u open app from dock. i searched google but couldnt find any real solution for this issue.
if you help me ill be gratful, sorry for my bad eng.
    Thankx

If you want to open all applications you want in full screen, open the apps and put them in full screen. Then, go to System Preferences > General, and untick "Close windows when quitting an application".
By doing this, when you reopen the apps they will open at the point where you left them when you closed them (in full screen)

  • Starting Java app in full-screen mode.

How can I start a Java application in full screen mode?

Did you mean Full Screen Exclusive Mode (so that you can do page flipping, etc...)?

  • When changing apps to full screen, is there a way to make them appear to the left of pre-existing desktops/apps in mission control?

I'm not sure when this changed (it was a while ago, possibly with OS X Mountain Lion, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't always this way?) but full-screening apps used to add them to the left of everything else. Now, things are added to the right side of the thumbnail strip, which is extremely inconvenient for me.
Is there any way to change it back?

Strange, it's working fine now. Nevermind.

  • Is there a way to auto-start applications in full screen, such as Safari, Mail, iTunes etc.?

I would like several applications to start in full screen, including Mail, Safari and iTunes, rather than starting them, then making them full screen. Is there a setting somewhere or a way of doing that? Thanks in advance.

I found it. In System Preferences under General "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" has to be checked. However when that is checked it takes you back to all of the sites you had open when you quit the app. I would prefer it start full screen, but back at the home page. Do yours do that as well?

  • App Store - Full screen preview.

How do I view an app screenshot in full screen? I've just updated to ios 6. I noticed you could tap the screenshot for a larger view in the previews but when I tap nothing happens.

    Has this feature been removed?

  • Any app with full screen width SMS message bubbles?

Does anyone know of an app that has full screen width SMS message bubbles?  I am obsessive compulsive -- the one-half width of the screen message bubbles during a conversation is driving me absolutely CRAZY!  The standard sms message bubbles fill up only one-half of the screen real estate and make the message twice as tall as it needs to be.

    I've not heard of one.

  • Starting Portal in Full Screen Mode

    Hello,
I wonder, if it is possible to start the Portal/the IE in Full-Screen Mode (F11)?
Probably there is a parameter in the "open_in_new_window" function that helps me to achieve this with a little java script?
    Regards,
    Stefan Schmidt

    Hi.
I would very much like an example.
We are currently implementing portal version 6 service pack 11 and on page iViews there is a prop-erty called “Window Features” with the following property description:
“Specifies the appearance of the new window launched by an iView whose 'Launch in New Win-dow' property is set to '1'. Enter a comma-separated list of JavaScript parameters; for example: 'full-screen=yes, toolbar=yes'. If empty, the new window opens according to default JavaScript parame-ters.”
I hoped that when opening a WinGui transaction that this functionality could open windows in full-screen, however, nothing happens.
Anybody knowing this functionality and what it does?

  • Dock won't appear when app in full screen

Installed Mavericks on a 2011 Mac Mini - first strange bug - Dock (I have it across the bottom) will not appear when the app is in Full Screen (Safari and Mail both act this way) - Take it out of full screen, and dock pops up like normal.  Bug?

Revealing the Dock while in a full-screen app requires not only moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen, but keeping your finger on it or moving the cursor along the bottom edge (or other "tricks") to reveal the Dock.
    SUPER ANNOYING TO ME
Many users may like that way of operation, perhaps a great majority. But hundreds of thousands may find it annoying to have this cognitive pause imposed and would rather have the dock appear accidently once in a while when moving the cursor close to the bottom area of the display.
    This worked before Mavericks:
Setting the Dock autohide delay to zero (in Terminal, with write defaults...) removed this annoyance. As soon as your cursor's at the bottom of the screen, the Dock's there.
In Mavericks: Nothing to do! (so far)
APPLE: "You" make WRONG design decisions, "you" make professional users spend dozens of hours investigating how to tweak basic features behind the scenes. And THEN, "you" quietly invalidate those changes. Please, the best design decision that "you" could make is to give the user more choice. Please, give us a section in Preferences where these things may be changed. The religious dumbing down of the interface in favour of supposedly clean esthetics is plain WRONG.
It is also quite unacceptable that APPLE does read these pages but never responds.

  • Start Keynote slideshow full screen.

Is there a way to start a Keynote file in full screen? An example would be like when you create a PowerPoint that is a *.pps or *.ppsx, or right clicking the PowerPoint and selecting "Show". If not is there a kiosk mode, or a terminal switch for open or keynote to call the file and go full screen?

In the documents tab of the Inspector (first tab) click the box for "Automatically Play Upon Open".

  • LR 5.4 Just started sticking in Full-Screen View

I've been using 5.4 since it came out and having no issues shifting between regular and full screen view.  No new mac updates since several days ago.  All of a sudden today, it sticks.  Once you F into full screen image, when you F back it flickers back in than goes back to full screen.  I have to close light room from the dock to be able to work on images again.  Have people been having this issue and is there a remedy?  Kind of dampers my enthusiasm when reviewing images large.

The filmstrip can be locked or unlocked, depending on the setting of the slider at the right hand side of the filmstrip: If you unlock it, it will only appear, if you move the mouse to the lower border of the screen.
