Always Use Artboard to Export (CS5)

In adobe Illustrator CS5 —
Is there a way to always Use Artboards when exporting to JPG...etc? — instead of having to click the check box every time?
Actions don't work because they save the path that was last used — I just want to simply be able to export all artboards, all the time.

Asked around at work. One solution is to use File --> "Save for Web" as PNG-24 instead of using the "Export" function.

CS5: Export "Use Artboards"-problems

Hi everybody!
I have recently installed Illustrator CS5. I had CS4 before, so I know how to handle Artboards.
What bothers me on the one hand (already in CS4) is that if I have only ONE Artboard, and I export it (the "Use Artboard" checked), AI automatically adds a "01" on the name of my file (i.e.: example-01.tif)! And when I want to overwrite it the next time, I cannot simply click on the file(-name), because then I get a new file (i.e. named example-01-01.tif). That is absolutely annoying and bad for my workflow! I often have to check my file by exporting it first and then seeing if it's ok (for further use in an other program).
The other now occuring problem in CS5 is, that AI does NOT remember my last choice to check the "Use Artboards"-checkbox, like it had before in CS4! So I now have to check it everytime I export my file again and again!
Has anybody maybe a kind of script or some other good idea to solve my two problems?

Well done! The action-idea works pretty good! I never had thought about this solution, because I couldn't image that AI can also "record" the naming-process (and the name). So infact: I now am able to overwrite my working file. Very cool!
And the other idea about this preferences-file-thing: yes! But I coulnd't find it yet! If anybody could tell me, which tag in which file I would be more grateful than I am already!

Exporting as jpeg with use artboards adds to file name

When I export from Illustrator CS5 with "Use Artboards" checked it adds a "-01" to the end of my file name before the extention. I'm assuming that its because its artboard #1 or something. It happens with the all or the range button checked. It doesnt show the -01 when you are saving the file name. This is pretty annoying because I have to go back and re name the files when this happens. Any advice? Thanks!

Been trying to get this resolved for months with no joy. I have recently produced over 250 brand logos for a large multi national, all of which have to supplied in various formats and file types including .jpg. I too use only one artboard and since I don't want the logos cropped tight to the image, I check "use artboard" with the result that I get logoname-01.jpg on every file.
It may not seem to be too much of a sweat to then delete the offending -01 from the resulting file name, but when you have to do this repeatedly it is extremely tiresome... and so unnecessary!! I too do not want, or need, to append the file name with anything at all.
I really am at a loss to know why, if i have one artboard (AND ONLY ONE) it has to have a number at all. With 2 or more artboards, sure, it may be useful to identify each, but with 1... that is it, that is all there is. The only one. One of one. No more, no less. Very little chance of confusion i would have thought!
So, Adobe can we have a radio button (or preference) along the lines of: "add pasteboard number" or "remove pasteboard number" or perhaps a more enlightened soul at Adobe can respond with a workaround (unlikely, it is Adobe after all!).

Exporting TIF files using 'Use artboards' feature

Currently, when using the 'Use artboards' feature to export multiple artboards, AI will do the following to determine individual file names:
Filename shows name of AI document then an underscore followed by the name of the artboard. Is there any way to change it somehow so that the underscore is a hyphen?
Example:
My AI document is simply called "z.ai". There are several artboards on the document with similar names such as "asda-ao" and "asdb-ao".
After exporting individual TIF files using the 'Use artboards' feature, the file names come out as follows: "z_asda-ao.tif" and "z_asdb-ao.tif".
I would rather the files be named "z-asda-ao.tif" and "z-asdb-ao.tif".
Is this possible without having to do it manually after the fact?

There are a lot of programs that do file renaming, one is Bridge. If you have it, select the files, choose Tools > Batch Rename, and for New File Names, choose String Substitution, and then use "Find" and "Replace With" fields.

Use Artboards disabled when trying to save as PDF in Illustrator CS4

Hi, I'm relatively knew to Illustrator coming from Photoshop and I've been struggling with this problem for days now. I've searched everywhere but can't seem the find the answer.
I'm trying to save my document to send to a client as a mock-up. When I try to save as PDF the tick box for "Use Artboards" is disabled, so when I save it saves the whole canvas instead of only what is on the artboard. When I try to export I can tick the tick box but the document still saves the whole canvas with everything that is "hanging off" the artboard too. The artboard is the exact size of the document.
Any help would be much appreciated.

When saving as pdf "Use Artboards" is always on and dimmed so you cannot turn it off but it is valid only if you have more than one artboard and this will give you the range option to type which artboards will be saved as different pages in the pdf. This has nothing to do with saving things off the artboard (clip to artboard). If you save as pdf with Preserve Illustrator Editing Capability checked, everything will be saved anyway and noting will be clipped or trimmed if you open the pdf file in Illustrator. If you save with this option off, depending on the version the content outside the artboard will be hidden by using a clipping mask. However, in both cases opening the file in Acrobat will not display content outside the artboards.
edit: you can use "Clip to Artboard" option if you save to a raster image by choosing Save for Web and devices.

"Always Use Selected Format" check box in line items report

Hi Experts,
I have an issue in ECC 6.0.
From the transaction code FBL1N (Vendor Line Items) I am trying to export the report to spreadsheet by selecting the option List> Export>Spreadsheet then I have selected "Always Use Selected Format" check box. But if I execute the same report again I am not getting this option "Always Use Selected Format". Please let me how can we retrieve that option. Is there any possibility to get that option again either functionally or technically. I would like to know all the possible ways to get this option again.

The problem with the spreadsheet download is at one point, users have selected their default file type.
That said, SAPGUI is working as it should. (gui710)
Question though is how do we reset the values so they get the ?Select Spreadsheet Format? popup again.
The following steps should be performed :
- Call transaction SE38, enter program SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN, and press F8.
- Follow the parameters below :
- Select ?DELETE? on the Actions Group
- Select ?DETAILED SELECTION? on the General Data :
- On Client - your number
- User : <user name>
-Hit EXECUTE.
-Press ENTER on the POPUP
- If there is an entry in the report that will need to be deleted. Also, make sure that the entry you will delete (for the user) has a value of GUI_ALV_XML_VER on field ?Parameter? .
- Select the line and hit the DELETE icon .
- Press ?Y? to continue delete. Press ENTER on the popup.
- Then EXIT all the way out of the program.
NOTE : When you run program SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN, make sure they are out of any program that they are using for download.

How do I un-do a previously selected "Always Use Selected Format" choice?

Hi guys !
I know it's incredibly dumb but I need to un-do an output option that I previously locked in by ticking the "Always Use Selected Format".
This is when I am exporting a master data list - I used to get a Select Spreadsheet box with a choice of formats and no longer get this since I stupidly ticked the "Always Use Selected Format" button after selecting the wrong file format....
Does anybody knows how to change my choice ? I saw [this|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/6e983a53ad487fe10000000a114a6b/content.htm] but i can't chose the "Always Use Selected Format" again...

I'm not sure whether you are looking for this solution but I will give it a try:
Call a standard transaction were you receive a list e.g SM37.
Menu: System -> LIST -> PRINT
You should see the button "User-specific print parameters"
Trigger the button -> there you have the option "Management" were you can delete or change the settings.

QA32 spreadsheet needs to unmark the button "always use selected format"

Hello Experts.
I am currently doing some testings in QA32, i want to transfer my list in printable documents, when i am in the menu LIST- EXPORT - SPREADSHEET , then the list for choices appears if(excel, all available formats)then there is this button box "always use selected format" which i have marked it and saves..then when after i proceed to QA32 again, i can't choose the format that i want in the selection.I believe it is the result of marking the button "always selected use format"
how can i unmarked the button "always selected use format" so i can have the chance to choose again?

Exporting to Spreadsheets
Use
You can export the list as various spreadsheet formats. The following list summarizes the most important of these formats and the corresponding file name extension for the files:

A format is only included in the selection options if it is available on your PC. The system administrator can also restrict the list of possible formats or even reduce the export to a certain format.
When you export the list in one of these formats, the system automatically generates a file with the name export and with the corresponding file name extension. Exactly which parts of the list are exported to the file depends on the format.
Exactly which data is exported to the file depends on the format:
●      In MHTML and XML formats, for example, you export the data that is displayed in the list on the screen. The number, selection, and sequence of columns as well as the sorting, filter, and calculation settings are all included in the export.
●      In Excel XXL format, any functions that you executed on the list are not included in the export. The file contains all the columns that you have displayed, but your sorting, filter, and calculation settings are ignored.
Prerequisites
To be able to display and, where necessary, further edit the file that you have generated with the export, the relevant program must be installed.
Procedure
Exporting the List
       1.      Choose with the quick info text Export and select Spreadsheet in the selection list. In full-screen mode, choose List ® Export ® Spreadsheet.
If you have a choice of more than one format, the Select Spreadsheet dialog box opens.
       2.      In the Select Spreadsheet dialog box, select the format in which you want to save the exported data.
       3.      Confirm the settings.
       4.      In the dialog box that appears, specify the path and name of the file and save the file.
For some formats, you also need to specify other settings for the file that is saved.
       5.      Make the required settings, where applicable.
If an installed program is linked to the selected file name extension, this program is started automatically and the generated file is opened.
Keeping Settings
If you plan to reuse the same spreadsheet format, you can save the settings for the format. By doing this, you can omit the step with the Select Spreadsheet dialog box and can export the list more quickly.
       1.      Proceed as described above in steps 1 and 2.
       2.      In the Select Spreadsheet dialog box, select Always Use Selected Format.
       3.      Confirm your settings and continue as outlined above.
From now on, whenever you export your list as described above, you bypass the Select Spreadsheet dialog box step and proceed immediately to saving the data.
4.      If you want to display the Select Spreadsheetdialog box again during the export, in the context menu for the list, choose Spreadsheet.
The dialog box opens; the Always Use Selected Format indicator is not set.

ArtBoards and Exporting

Hello,
How can you designate an artboard to export exactly what is contained within it, WITHOUT any "bleeding" (I'm not sure if this is the correct term), or other artifcats.
Here is what I am doing:
1. Create new document using web template.
2. Create a rectangle, set the stroke to none, pick a fill.
3. Effect -> Stylize -> Round Corners, Radius of 3px.
4. Select ArtBoard tool, and click on object.
5. File -> Save for Web or Devices
The image that appears in the preview (and is later exported) does not match the created image at all:
Where are the rounded corners?
Other times, I have noticed there will be added whtie space in the exported image.
I am not a graphic designer, and think I am just missing some very basic understanding or setting required for ArtBoards.

Thanks much - this worked very well and was so easy. After spending hours looking at a lot of different converters and getting nowhere, I spotted this solution.
I used Flip avi files directly from the camera, copied them into a folder that Picasa 3 could find, and then exported them. They showed up in my /My Documents/My Pictures/Picasa/Exported Videos folder as Windows Media Files (.wmv). I brought my test files into Premiere Pro 1.5, previewed them, placed them in the timeline and rendered them. they looked good here, so I exported my movie and the video looks pretty good, considering it was from the Flip.
Picasa did something that a dozen other conversion programs couldn't get right (or at least I couldn't find the right combination of codecs and settings). It's a relief, alright, and information I'm happy to share.

Hi guys I need your help with this. I'm using Adobe After Effects CS5 on my iMac 06 and I just wanted to know, how exactly do I edit my movie frame by frame?
I've tried looking up on Youtube how to do this and I can't seem to find out how. Would anyone here know the answer?

Heres my problem, since this process requires echo to achieve it. I try and set and independent camera motion from the text while it extrudes outward. But... once the animation starts the echo ALWAYS...ALWAYS is disrupted and altered by the camera movement, whether its in a x, y , or z path. Sure i can move the camera angle and view it from there, but i cannot have the two moving independent from each other.
IF ANY ONE OUT THERE IS A WIZ AT ADOBE AFFTER EFFECTS PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND

ExportType.SVG "Use Artboards" option

I am trying to export layers to SVG, but I need to access the "Use Artboards" option in my ExportType.SVG options. In the latest version of Illustrator (CS6), there is no export as SVG. There is "Save As" SVG, and that has the option checkbox "Use Artboards".
Unfortunatly, there is no "Save As" method that I can find, hence the Document.exportFile. When I run the script, it is including everything in the file, regardless of the layers or artboard position.
Here is the script:

I might be going about this the wrong way, but it feels like I am close. If there is someway to remove the extra pieces... maybe if I duplicate the document and delete all other layers per export?

"Always use pressure for size" - assign keyboard shortcut?

Is there a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to the "always use pressure for size" toggle on/off button that sits in the brush toolbar?
It would speed up masking with a wacom quite a bit where you want to use shift-clicking to draw straight lines between points (where you really need the pen pressure controling brush size turned off) and then back to masking around detail areas where you need the pressure turned back on. I seem to recall Julieanne Kost saying this was possible at some point back when CS5 was launched, but I've never found it and can't find it in CS6 either.

Every time I try to add add'l pix, it has to remove all existing and re-sync (always use same computer)

Each time I want to add more pictures to my library, it deletes all existing and re-loads (during syncing). I always use the same computer, never plugged my ipad into any other computer. I also get error messages sometimes when I am trying to download new songs (via computer) and it has given me an error message saying that the computer is not the 'designated' computer (but it is and always has been.).

Holy Smoke!!! ...and it was JUST that easy.
