Yes, but it won't charge very quickly sinc the iPhone charger is 5W versus the 10/12W iPad charger.

  • Yoga 2 Pro "plugged in, charging" even when running on battery

A few weeks ago, my Yoga 2 Pro entered a permanent "plugged in, charging" state whether plugged in or running on just the battery. The battery drains as normal, it just always shows the plugged in icon. It also charges as normal. When I turn it off, the "plugged in" LED remains lit even after I unplug the power cord. Anyone else have similar issues? I'm tempted to rewrite the BIOS and see if this fixes it. Thanks for the help!

You, sir, are a life saver! I have no idea how the balance between the left and right speaker could've changed but, doesn't matter since it's fixed now! Thanks very much Dave!

Yes, it's normal.  Once it's connected, you can turn it off and it will stay off.

  • Please explain why battery charging via "trickling" is good for battery?

Just curious as to the science behind why trickle charging the last 20% is beneficial to the battery.
No complaint whatsoever, just curious how this works.

  • IPod Touch (4th gen) wouldn't start after overheating from an after market wall charger

My son used an after market iPod charger and after a few minutes after he unplugged the cord the iPod wouldn't start. More than that: it was getting hot even without beeing hooked to the charger. After 30 min was back to normal temperature but it wouldn't start.
Any hope to get it running again? The On/Off + Home reset didn't worked.

    - Synced media like apps and music are no included in the backup that iTunes makes. If that media is not in the iTunes library it will not be on the iPod after restoring from backup or updating.
    - Redownload your purchased by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Then try restoring from backup. If you have a backup made when the iPod was update then you should get your apps data back. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if by the date of the backup it would included the data.

  • Inconsistant Battery Charge from plug-in charger and USB ports

My Iphone occassionaly will not charge using the stock plug-in charger and computer USB port. This doesn't happen all the time but enough that I am somewhat concerned. Anyone else have this issue?

    Your Majesty,
If you believe your wall charger has an issue, you can contact your nearest Apple Retail store's Genius bar or AppleCare to have it replaced.
When charging from a computer, it is important that the computer not go into standby or sleep mode. Some computers will actually drain an iPod or iPhone's battery if they are in sleep mode. In addition some portable or notebook computer's don't provide sufficient power to fully charge the battery when they are running on battery instead of AC power.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • MBP GOOD FOR  COLLEGE?

Will be buying a laptop for college and wonder if MBP or a PC would do me better. I will be running typical applications; internet, word, and the like. I have always used pc but am curious about all the buzz for apple lately and I will definately spend the money if I know its a better investment.
I see some online concerns about performance. I definately had issues with performance with pc's. They would get slow as ****. Is this evident on mbp? Should I load up on ram and get the 2.16 processor?
I am looking for speed and reliability. I was also curious...am i reading correctly when people say they are running apple os and microsoft os at the same time?
Happy to pay the money if the switch to apple is truly worth it in the long run.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated...Thank you in advance.

There are two things I would consider, having used a ThinkPad in college and now owning a MBP for work and going to med school next month.
First, how do you plan to use the laptop? The MBP is rather large compared to the tiny pullout desks in lecture halls and rooms. It also runs rather hot and probably not a good idea to use on the lap. It's also a bit heavy for an ultra-portable. The MacBook is smaller, but still heavy. As an undergrad, I brought my ThinkPad to class every day but never did I take notes with it, rather I used it to keep myself entertained. So, if you don't plan on using a notebook in class, the MBP is a good desktop replacement for the dorm or apartment.
Second, what major are you, what apps will you need? Make sure apps you may need will run on a Mac if you get a Mac. I was a bio major and didn't need anything beyond Word and Powerpoint. Both run great under Windows, but the Mac versions are strange (and I almost hate them in comparison, while others love Mac Office). Until Microsoft releases the next version of Office that will run natively on a Mac, using Office on a Mac under Rosetta is rather slow.
You can use Parallels to run Windows within OSX or use BootCamp to run Windows on the MBP. The latter isn't very convenient. I use the former to run some molecular modeling and database software on occasion an it works well. I don't know that it would satisfy me if I had to use it regularly. In other words, don't count on either feature to make up for needing a Windows PC.
Anyway, if you're just going to be running Office and internet, I'd get a MacBook, and perhaps use the remaining $5-800 and get a 20, 23, or 24" widescreen LCD (cheaper from someone other than Apple) for the dorm or apartment, which would make a nice little setup.

    ibook g4

The iBook does not have a backup (PRAM) battery. It only has the main battery and a small capacitor which maintains the settings long enough to do a battery swap. If the battery is dead, what you are seeing can happen.
If the battery is not a problem (or even if it is), you could try resetting the PMU and see if that helps.

  • I just bought a new portable battery. It uses 2 USB ports to charge devices, a 1 amp port and a 2 amp port. My question is which port do I plug my iPhone 5s into and which do I use for my iPad 2?

It's a 10,000 mAh external battery. I got this for traveling and because I go to disneyland a lot. My phone wont last all day there and unlike some people, I would never plug my phone into their outlets (I watched a girls phone spark and practically melt once), their voltage is way too high. I have other batteries, but when I saw that this one can charge the 5s fully 3-5 times, I new it was a must. Online, there were wonderful reviews about it and that it charges the 5s and the iPad 2 wonderfully. However when I opened the package and read the directions it listed that there were 2 USB ports, a 1 amp and a 2 amp and to match your device to the port. Now it's been a while since I've studied about volts, amps, etc. so the first thing I do is google it. I know that the iPhone 5s uses 1 amp and the iPad 2 uses 2 amps, and from what I read, you can use the iPad charger to charge the iPhone (which I didn't know there were conflicts about this, I've always used my iPad charger for my phone). There are a lot of articles with people going back and forth about charging techniques, but I want to make sure I'm not going to damage any of my devices if I plug it into the wrong port.
Any responses will be appreciated as this isn't an area where I am very knowledgeable! Thank you!!!

The iPhone and iPad draw whatever charging current they require. The iPad draws more.

  • My iPad won't charge after plugging into my computer and after holding down the power and home button at same time for 10 seconds- Can anybody help? Has IOS7.0 but the most up-to-date version

My iPad won't charge after plugging into my computer and after holding down the power and home button at same time for 10 seconds… Can anybody help? Has IOS7.0 but not the most up-to-date version

It's just the battery sign - nothing else. I've tried to reboot by holding down both power and home key for 10+ seconds, waiting for the apple logo - but nothing happens. It's plugged into the imac at the moment. I tried to recharge it overnight using the normal charger - but no luck. It went dead during a Skype call with a friend - even though it was powered into the mains - albeit at a low battery level at the time

  • My home button won't work correctly after I plug the charger in

My iPhone 5s's home button doesn't respond correctly after i plug in the charger. I'm not sure what's wrong.
At first, it wouldn't charge so i had to find a different charger that i had ordered from amazon (not from apple) and it only worked when i plugged it in with one side. the other chargers that i have from apple do not work. the home button sometimes works correctly, but im sure that it starts to not respond correctly after i plug the charger in. i have tried almost everything i could find on the internet. im not sure if its a hardware or software problem. please help. thank you

Sorry but I'm not clear. Do you have more than one charger from Amazon? Did this problem start after you used the charger(s) you got from Amazon and now using the Apple brand chargers it doesn't work either? I'm wondering if the Amazon charger damaged the phone.

  • How do I get my ipod touch 5th generation to always use my car speakers when I plug it into the USB port?

How do I get my ipod touch 5th generation to always use my car speakers when I plug it into the USB port?

If the problem occurs after you restore it to factory defaults/new iPod then it is likely a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Hi- Iphone 5 wont charge using power cable or USB...I am using a genuine apple charger/cable..this started after I was prompted with new update for IOS 7.

Hi- My  Iphone 5 wont charge using power cable or USB...I am using a genuine apple charger/cable..this started after I was prompted with new update for IOS 7 yesterday. My phone is dead and wouldnt power up ..have tried resetting using itunes but i doesnt detect the phone and..pressing sleep/home button doesnt do anything

    Update
I guess that it just had a bad connecting port on the phone itself, no clue why it wouldn't work when plugged in both ways other than there is actually some differentiating between the two sides.
