Always Use This IP Address

All my devices connected to the router is using DHCP except from my satellite receiver that is using a static IP, devices connected via ethernet cable is set to 'Always use this IP address' and devices connected via wireless is set to No to 'Always use this IP address' option.
Is that the correct way?

Yes and no. For a true static IP, the IP address needs to be set on the device itself not on the router.

I am trying to disable the ''Always use this IP address:'' feature for my devices.
I have gone into a device, changed the button to 'No' and click Apply it just simply reverts itself when I go back into the device a 2nd time.
I have tried IE and Chrome to do this, the setting will not save!

Even if you do get it to work, its not a very reliable way of doing it. What device are you trying to force the IP address on?

Some other piece of network ghardware on your home LAN (Local Area Network) is using the IP address your Mac is trying to use.
Reboot both your modem and router, or the Modem/Router combo box you have, and all pieces of networking equipment, computers and printers, you have connected to your LAN.
If you continue to get that error then it is a bug in OS X or you have your Mac set to a Static IP address that is being handed out by the routers DHCP server to some other device.

Most likely, you're getting a network address from your router. The address assignment ("lease") expires, and has to be renewed, after a certain amount of time, which might be one hour or one day. The lease expired without being renewed because the device was offline at the time. Meanwhile, the address was leased to another device on the network. When the first device comes back online, it still has the address that's now also leased to the second device. Depending on what kind of router you have, the conflict may resolve itself automatically. If not, then from the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the TCP/IP tab. Now look at the menu labeled Configure IPv4. If the selection in that menu is Using DHCP, click the button labeled Renew DHCP Lease. Test.
Less likely, you have a network address that you assigned yourself, and another device is assigning itself the same address. In that case, the selection in the Configure IPv4 menu will be either Manually or Using DHCP with manual address. This kind of conflict won't be resolved automatically. You have the following options to resolve it:
Change the menu selection to Using DHCP.
Change the manually-assigned address to one that isn't being used by another device.
Change the address of the other device.
Which of these options you should choose depends on the details of why you're using a static IP address. Any change you make to the network settings must be applied before it takes effect. To do that, click OK and then Apply.

Good luck. It took me weeks to fix this when I had to do it. Your old ID branches out in lots of places. You may have to delete app and get them again, at least that is what Apple told me. Plus, all of your settings on your iPad that required any ID, will have to be changed. My old ID kept showing up in different places for weeks. Changing it on Apple.com is just the beginning.

There's no need to scream.
Sometimes this message means that you have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
Sometimes it happens because a device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.

I'm afraid that once an address has been associated with an Apple ID you can't re-use it in any way. You will have to create another address (such as a free on from GMail or Yahoo for example).

What you want to do is power cycle the Time Capsule. This will reset the DHCP leases and should fix the problem.

Suspected illegal use of email address

Dear Skype Admin, I had problem signing in into skype 2 days ago and I tried to reset my login password today. After providing my email address, I have used the emailed link received attempting to reset my password. At the reset password screen, I was told that there are 2 skype accounts that linked to my email address. I am the email account holder of [e-mail removed for privacy and security] and has used this email address to register a skype account patlim2006. Could you please verify if the skype ID "mypat_1973" is legitimately created with my email address "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]". Kindly advise how could this be happening? You can modify the function for send mail for PO , so it can check and get all multiples line in the vendor email address. Also in this function you can add several logic, to exclude line item for sending mail by using the Do not use indicator.Please try

Does using 'this.' make _any_ difference to method calls?

If I'm calling a local method, for example:
this.doStuff();is it functionally ever under any circumstances whatsoever different to simply doing:
doStuff();I have quite a vivid memory from a few years ago of a reasonably complex class hierarchy in which I found there to be different behaviour when specifying 'this.' to not specifying it. Was this some sort of hallucination?
See this has caused me to be paranoid about using 'this.' everywhere I call a local method. Someone asked me why I did it and explained with the story above. However I can't for the life of me re-create the situation.

There's no difference between calling this.methodName() and calling methodName() directly. as others said, just for clarity.
however, the only time i almost always use "this" is when passing a constructor args that have the same name as the instance variables in that class in which case i use "this" to avoid naming confusion.
example:
public MyConstructor(int x, int y){
this.x = x;
this.y = y;
above the this.x is the instance variable and the single x by itself is the arg.

PID.vi - how to use this vi correctly

I´m trying to control the temperature in an oven using the PID.vi, but I noticed some weird things about using this control...
I read the oven temperature at every 1 second and input this data at the PID.vi at every 1 second too. But, I need to make a for loop iterating a bunch of times to really have a good control. If I don´t use this for loop, I can see a really considerable diference comparing to the result of the test I used PID.vi inside the for loop. So, at every 1 second, I read the data, input this data at the for loop, iterate it a bunch of times and I make the average of the results, then I have my PID output.
I want to know how exactly use this control and what can I be doing wrong? Can somebody send me an example using this vi? How do you do PID control, do you always use this vi or you do it in another way? Please, I really need to make it work properly and I need to make it soon =(

I am not sure if I understand how and why you are using for loops.
Normal use of the simple pid.vi would be as shown in the attachment, but I assume that is what you actually doing (without the for loops).
You just read every second the current value of the temperature and feed this into the PID.vi
Since in this vi the shift registers are not initialized it will remember the values of the previous time it was called. No need for extra for loops ...
This method works properly (over a limited temperature range) provided that the P, I and D values are set correctly using for example the Ziegler-Nichols method.
Then you can add a little bit more 'intelligence' by adding for example the range in which the integration should start, resetting the integration part at an overshoot, different PID parameters for different temperature ranges, ...
If you are still not happy with it you can also spend some money and buy an external controller or the PID toolkit from NI.

All apps are always tied to the account from whaich they were purchased and will always have to be updated using that account.
Just because the e-mail account is shut down, has nothing to do with the itunes account. Why did you create a new account? Why not just change the e-mail associated with the old account?

My current Apple ID, for which all of my content has been downoaded (e.g., music, apps) is associated with a work email address that I will no longer have access to in the near future. In my Apple ID account, I noticed I had two alternate emails listed, one is my .me account and the other is my .gmail account. I use my .gmail account, and it is the primary email I use with friends and family. I noticed both were not verified, and when I tried to, it said they were both associated with other accounts. I was able to log into a separate Apple ID account I must have set up at tone point with my .gmail, and I changed the email address to a new one I created. I also deleted the gmail account from any other Apple-relted account I could think of. I am still gettgin the same error message when I try to add it to my current Apple ID: "This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID."
My concern is this: with FaceTime and now iMessage, it seems more important than ever that I am able to use my correct email address. With iOS5 beta, I cannot enter either my .gmail or.me accounts under "You can be reached for messages at:" as I get an error stating: Unable to verify email because it is already in use."
How can I remedy this issue and assign my .gmail account to my Apple ID?

I just spoke with a technician at Apple. I hsven't been able to verify because the wife has the phone. but he said all that you need to do is:
1) Go to Settings --> iTunes Store and login with your Apple ID and pwd
2) Go to Settings --> iCloud and login with your Apple ID and pwd
seems that the phone requires you to login to the store first...
