AM Config and Application property changes in JDev 11.1.2
Hi All
I have recently moved to Jdev 11.1.2 and there are changes to some very common features e.g.
1. AM configuration opens bcf4.xcfg file and I can't find how to change my JDBC connection from URL to Data Source like I used to do using Dialog box earlier.
2. Application properties -> Deployment doesn't show me if I want to generate weblogic-jdbc.xml file or I want to port policies n credentials etc on deployment. I can't find this anywhere.
Is there a link or document which details about IDE changes for such common features. The document about what's new doesn't mention that.

Theme subscription across different workspaces and applications.
Hi!
My cie juste upgraded to Apex 4 and asked me to make a new theme and templates for everyone to use. Most of the changes will be made in the CSS files but some will be in the html code of the templates. We sadly have more than one workspace and this is not something that can be changed. Right now when someone start a new application he imports the theme manually from a file. So when we make changes to the theme we need to re-import it manually in all our applications. There's surely a better and more effective way to do it.
When we make changes to the theme html code we would like those changes to be published to all our applications automatically.
Is there a way to do this and if yes what would be the best practice to have a theme and templates updates themselves automatically across multiple workspaces and applications upon change?Sounds like you should look to use APEX's built-in publish-and-subscribe model. You can create a "master" application to contain publishable components like authentication schemes, LOVs and templates. Your theme templates are created, maintained and published through this application, and your other applications reference the standard templates by subscription from the master application. Changes can be pushed out from the master application to all subscribing applications.
To avoid having to recreate subscriptions when creating new applications you can have a starter app with all of the subscriptions set up, and copy that application as a baseline when you want to create a new one.
The publish-and-subcribe model only works within a single workspace.
Unfortunately the documentation isn't exactly comprehensive on this feature...
Another feature that may be of interest is the ability to manage workspace themes, and add themes to the repository. -

I right click on one and press rename, but when i change the name and press enter i get the message "To rename this service or application please rename the Client Access Point via its property page"

I recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard on my MacBook and I noticed that I have more capacity on the Macintosh HD than before the upgrade. I checked my files and applications and they are still on my computer and nothing appears to be missing. Before the upgrade I had around 111 GB capacity with around 10.50 GB available on the Mac HD but now after the upgrade I have 119 GB capacity and 20.92 GB available. Can capacity on the HD change after an OS upgrade?
No, but the upgrade removed unneeded PowerPC code and changed the way free space is determined.

I keep getting a warning stating that the document could not be auto saved in pages. The file has been changed by another application. Then it says click save any way to keep your changes and save the changes made by the other application as a version, or click revert to keep the changes from the other application and save your changes to a version.
What in the heck does all that mean, and why are they trying to behave like a Windows product or a Microsoft office product. I just don't get it.
Why is another application changing my documents? It's like they've created a virus within their own programs. It's a pain in the neck and makes no sense.I am also having the issue of a warning saying "could not be auto-saved in Pages. The file has been changed in another application. I then hit "save anyway", the warning will go away for a time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hourr, but then the warming reapprears saying the same thing. This is not the case with all Pages documents but it is the case with many.

The original user profile on my windows 8.1 pc is C:\Apple\acer sm. I tried changing it to C:\Apple\Apple. After I rebooted my PC, I found out that all my files and applications are lost. What shall I do to recover them?

We wonder if you changed the registry entry or path of user profile.
If you did that in registry please try changing it back.
After changing your user profile and reboot, system won’t read the profile you changed but a new user profile (C:\Apple\acer sm or TEMP) should be created by system. Try renaming this new one as acer sm.old and changing the apple back to acer sm.
It should works fine if you didn’t change file in profile, if it doesn’t work perform a system restore.

When using tethered capture I often get this notification "The metadata for this photo has been changed by both Lightroom and another application". This slows or stalls the loading of incoming photos. How do I find out which other application is changing the metadata and stop it?

I've had a look at the TC settings dialog and tried to keep it as simple as possible. I also had a copy of LR 4 on the hard drive so have trashed that also incase of any conflicts. LR seems to be running ok now but as said it's an intermittent problem.
I also have a copy of Capture One on the hard drive so am going to uninstall that also in case it is trying to launch. -
I was infected by a virus (i can't remember the virus name). Antivirus removed it, but i think it changed some config file on FF, 'cause every time i try to restart it , i find it configured to use proxy 127.0.0.1:64727. I change every time the config, i also tried to change the config on the about:config and set network.proxy.type 5 , no port and no network proxy (so it's all on default) . I changed the config on the gui, i removed the config from windows registry ( IE and chrome start normally, with no proxy), but every time i restart FF i find the proxy config there. How can i fix it ?

I have firefox 7.0 and i go to about:config and change the URL default from bing to google but when i close firefox an open it back up it changes back to bing why is this? I stand by google 100% and if ur gonna make it where i can't use google as the URL's seach engine then i will uninstall it.

The hardware on the 2G does not support an iOS version higher than 4.2.1. If you want apps that require a higher version you will need to get a newer model iPod.

Just converted our app from 5.1 to 6.0. Not too many problems once we
figured out the class loader situation. I have some questions regarding
configuration and deployment which are not clear to me after reading the
documentation.
I find I have to modify config.xml manually quite often to fix problems
which the console creates. It is not at all uncommon for me to change a
property via the console and then have to undo the change manually to
get the server to properly start up again. While I accept that this is
probably due to a mistake I am making, I am very surprised that this
system is so fragile. Now for my questions...
1) Sometimes the console will add a new application to my config.xml
with a
"-1 " extension. Why is this? It doesn't create problems in and of
itself but does seem to accompany other problems which the console
creates in this file.
2) I intend to deploy an ear for production purposes, but as the
documentation points out this is inconvenient for development. I need
the ability to modify single jsp files without redploying all of them.
This worked great in 5.1. I am unable to do this in 6.0. As it stands
now, my jsp files are only redeployed on startup and unfortunately seem
to be redeployed every time we start regardless of whether chnages were
made to them. This makes development much slower. The REPLOY file
business discussed in the docs doesn't seem to have any effect. I
currently am deploying the jsp files and associated classes in "expanded
directory format" under the .config/domain/applications/applicationName
directory. I am deploying some EJBS in a pre-compiled jar file and
placing this jar file in the system classpath so the jsps can access the
shared classes. (I know this prevents hot deployment but I seem to have
no choice since the EJBs interfaces do not reference all shared classes
and therefore do not export them to their parent.) This jar file resides
in the ./config/domain/applications directory. Any ideas as to why I can
not get my jsp files to hot deploy one at a time.
All in all, 6.0 is a great release but development time has increased
dramatically. Hot deployment is not going to work for us because
unfortuneately many of our classes are required by our startup classes
and therefore must be placed in the system classpath.

Firefox crashes or seizes up when there are too many tabs and applications open, and causes my computer to crash or seize up. I use task manager to close Firefox or I restart my computer. Then, when Firefox restarts again, it automatically re-opens all the tabs and applications that caused the computer to seize or crash in first place. This is a waste of my time. I want Firefox to reopen to my homepage even if it crashes. I am willing to lose information to have Firefox reopen to a low-memory homepage. How do I do this?
Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

Drawing and some layout help for a simple control: thin lines and application start
I am trying to create a new, simple control. The control should act as a grouping marker much like that found in the Mathematica notebook interface. It is designed to sit to the right of a node and draw a simple bracket. The look of the bracket changes depending on whether the node is logically marked open or closed.
After looking at some blogs and searching, I tried setting the snapToPixels to true in the container holding the marker control as well as the strokewidth but I am still finding that the bracket line is too thick. I am trying to draw a thin line. Also, I am unable to get the layout to work when the test application is first opened. One of the outer brackets is cut-off. I hardcoded some numbers into the skin just to get something to work.
Is there a better way to implement this control?
How can I get the fine line drawn as well as the layout correct at application start?

It is pretty trivial to create implementations of those interfaces to return the test data from your XML files.
There are a number of ways to handle the switching, if you have used the service locator pattern, then I would personally slot the logic in to the service locator, to either look up the 3rd party bean or return a POJO test implementation of the interface according to configuration.
Without the service locator, you are forced to do a little more work, you will have to implement your own test session beans to the same interfaces as the 3rd party session beans.
You can then either deploy them instead of the 3rd party beans or you can deploy both the test and the 3rd party beans under different JNDI names,and use ejb-ref tags and allow you to switch between test and real versions by changing the ejb-link value.
