Am getting lots of popup all of a sudden. what to do?

Have a MacBook Pro, purchased in 2008. I'm using OX X Yosemite version 10.10.2. I have 4 GB memory.
The problem: today I was trying to view a website for shopping (Bed Bath and Beyond) and print out some coupons. I was suddenly inundated with pop ups and now those pop ups are showing on other websites as well i.e. Amazon. I also get a constant message that I need to upgrade my Java (which I did try to do unsuccessfully). I also get a message about using a MAC spyware service...which I've been told by the experts at the Apple store in the past is useless. So...I think somehow I've compromised my MAC. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If this does not help, you may have to take the MBP to the Apple Store to have it checked.

the last few days I have been getting constant full page pop ups even though my popup filter is on, anyone else having this problem

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Trying to run an Azure webrole locally using IISExpress, get a 500 error all of a sudden

Software involved: Visual Studio Pro 2013, git, Azure webrole, Azure tools v2.5.0.0 (latest I could see from nuget)
So I have been working on a project lately and everything has been just peachy. After some work I press ctrl+F5 to run the webpage in a browser, of just f5 if I need to debug as well.
But yesterday I added support for Azure storage so that I can handle file uploads, not much, just standard blobs for the moment.
But after I did that nothing works anymore, if I try using ctrl+f5 I get a blank browser page, f5 gives me the following error message:

if I deploy the website to azure (im using ci from a git branch) it works fine there, and if I try to deploy it locally using IIS it also works fine.
I have tried lots of googling but so far to no avail. Lots of promising tips, but nothing seems for work for me.

Can I get a list of all binary files and what they do?

I'm a newbie to Oracle. Needless to say I'm blindly muddling my way through the experiance of installations/setup and managing my first database. I realize that there is a three tier system and for my system all three of the tiers are on the same pc! In short I need help with what executables do what. I've tried going through Linux howto's, online docs, and even bought a book on the subject but the book seems to stroke the benifits of using Oracle instead of actually telling me how to use Oracle. I'm using Oracle8i 8.1.7 EE (enterprise edition) on Linux RH 7.0. I would like a link to a list or the actuall list of all the binary files in $OracleHOME/bin/ and what each of them do. Also important log files I should consult regularly would be most helpfull. Thanks.

Lots of problems all of a sudden!

Hi everyone - hope someone can halp me - I'm pulling my hair out!
Until yesterday, my Mac Mini was running just fine in every regard. Now everythings seems to have gone weird. Here are the symptoms:
1) Certain web pages take forever to load or won't load at all. Google and bing results will flash up instantly, but loading certain websites, the blue bar on Safari gets so far then stops whilst the grey spinning wheel on the tab goes for ages, sometimes the blue bar then disappears and a second grey spinning wheel apears at the end of the progress bar. I have tried Firefox and the issue IS NOT just with Safari.
2) When trying to connect to the mac App Store, I get the grey spinning wheel for ages before I simply end up with a blank app store pane with a message in the centre saying "Cannot connect to the App Store".
3) When I try and connect to the Itunes store, I get the "Accessing iTunes Store" progress bar at the top for ages until I get a box pop up saying "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
4) Some of my widgets on the dashboard are refusing to load data from the web.
PERTINENT (maybe) INFORMATION:
- I know my internet connection is fine as my iPhone is using everything just great.
- Some webpages (including this one) are happy to load as usual.
- Whilst I was typing all this a few minutes ago I abandoned it as everything started working again randomly (the same problems reappeared minutes later and so I came back).
- I downloaded the iMesssage Beta from the Apple website yesterday.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
I have uninstalled the iMessage Beta, closed all apps and restarted the Mac.
SYSTEM SPECS:
Mac mini (early 2009)
Intel Core 2 Duo (2 GHz)
2 GB RAM
Mac OSX Lion 10.7.4

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I am unable to open firefox...all i get is "goog;e" all of a sudden! this has never happened before and i can't fix! help!

when i try to open firefox (i have used it forever!!!) i get a message that says "sorry this is embarrassing - try to restore windows or tabs, etc." nothing works. the only browser is google and i can't find my bookmarks, open and close firefox, etc. s o s, please!

Cannot get any songs on all of a sudden!

I suddenly cannot autofill or put any songs on my ipod shuffle (2nd). Tried recommended trouble shooting. I don't know if I have the receipt, but I've only had it for a few months and it worked fine prior to today. Any other suggestions?

Help!Macbook started running slow/beachball of death all of a sudden.What can I do to resolve?

Fire Fox started acting weird all of a sudden what can I do?

Fire Fox is being redirected all the time while I'm searching on Google, and its not just one site its multiple sites. It is constantly asking for site certificates on sites like PayPal, and Yahoo, when I have been on these sites multiple times before with no problems. Also when I finally do get through to a site after going through multiple pop ups about the site certificates it looks like Firefox has blocked most of the content and java scripts.

IPhoto won't import pics from either of two Canon cameras all of a sudden.

I plug the Canon camera into the USB and attempt to import pics as have always done. Currently have 18,000 pics so have done this lots before. All of a sudden, the camera shows up on the left side of the screen, the pictures show up, but I can't get the IMPORT ALL or IMPORT SELECTED to activiate. I disconnect the camera (appropriately) and try to exit out of iPhoto only to have a warning tell me to wait until Import is complete. No photos ever show up and no import ever completes. I can't force quit so have to hard quit and restart my computer. What to do?

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I am going to restore my Macbook Pro to it's factory condition. In iTunes I have renamed a lot of my songs. Last time I cleaned off my mac and restored my music I had to rename all those songs again. How do I get itunes to remember all of those names?

I backup everything to an external drive and then I restore only what I want from my backup drive. In iTunes I have renamed a lot of my songs. Last time I cleaned off my mac and restored/reloaded my music I had to rename all those songs again. It took me about 2 weeks to reorganize my music. How do I get iTunes to remember all of those names and keep everything exactly the same when I restore/reload the music into iTunes?

Just delete stuff you don't want.

Use Time Machine, backup everything, do the reinstall (I recommend you don't do it) then restore your user folder with Time Machine.

I suppose I didn't go far enough in my last post. I meant to show that there is no obvious way to change the dictionaries now. When you click that button you simply see a dialog that allows you to edit the personal dictionary.
Unfortunately it would seem the location of the dictionary files isn't documented anywhere. Certainly with the new multiple languages that RoboHelp is capable of dealing with, they probably have several different dictionaries in use.
