Am i able to charge my ipad (while in use) on board SQ economy class?

Am i able to charge my ipad (while in use) on board SQ economy class? Do I have to buy an adapter or a different travel plug? As i will be departing Singapore for London, i hope i can use my Ipad throughout the journey.

That would be a question for the Airline.   Whether or not they offer outlets in Economy Class.  And if They do, what type of connection it is.
Contact the Airline to find out if they have outlets in economy.  As long as the IPads Charger can plug into them, you should be able to charge it just fine.
If they offer USB ports only, you'll need to ask them if their ports offer enough power to charge an iPad.

Somewhat much later query but I do have a related one.  I've purchased my iPad 2 in India in October past.  Using an adaptor for Canada I seem to have no problems charging it.  Now I'm travelling to Chile and I see there is a 'similarity' in the two prongs on the electrical cord which came with the iPad (India) AND a similar pair of dual prongs used in Chile.   I note Chile also uses a 3 - prong (horizontal) outlet.  Query - Should I have any concern re the different currents used ; Canada 120V - 60 Hz versus Chile 220 - 50 Hz, or as noted earlier the iPad takes care of that with its built in converter.   Thank You.

  • Please help! US bought Pro, need to be able to charge it in EU and UK

I got a Mac Book Pro in the USA in early 2010 and have recently returned to the UK. I charge it using a US to UK wall adaptor and the original power cable I got with computer (US 2 prongs). However I am going to Germany next week and need to be able to charge my computer while I am there. I was told that the Apple World Travel Adaptor is not suitable for Macbooks. Does anyone have any suggestion or link to what I need to get to charge in the EU, also if I can get a UK bit to put on the power cable as well in future? Thanks

ask in forum for macbook pro instead
and check apple store for adapters

  • Can't charge my IPad

I am no longer able to charge my iPad. What happened?

    1. Clean docking port
    2. Try another wall socket
    3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)

  • Charging my iPad Air from my laptop

How do I charge my iPad Air from my laptop. When I plug via USB to my laptop I get 'not charging' written by the battery symbol. It doesn't seem to matter what the % charge is. Can anyone help me please.

The USB ports on your laptop do not provide sufficient power to efficiently charge your iPad. While the Not Charging does show your iPad is probably charging very slowly. The best way to charge an iPad is to use the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet.

  • Can the usb sync/power cable that came with the iPhone 3g and 4 handle the 2.1 amps drawn by the ipad 2 (if used with the 10w plug) without risk of overheating?

I recently made the mistake of buying a cheap sync cable from a well known auction site becuase I wanted a longer cable than comes in the box for my ipad 2.
Whilst my iPad will sync OK, it takes an age to charge (using the standard 10w plug in the wall). I don't fully understand the science in the cables, but assume it is not a big enough cable to handle the current/2.1 amps?.
If like house wire you send too much current through a cable that is to small for the job it risks overheating and causing a fire.
Does this same principle apply to the iPad power lead?
Anyway back to the question, can I use other leads I have hanging around the house from my previous iphones and ipods to charge my ipad (again still using the 10w plug in the wall) or will the cable in these be too small to handle the 2.1 amps required by the ipad?
I don't want to risk overheating the cables and causing a short to break my beloved iPad 2...!

    Thanks for your replies.
Not sure they entirely answer my question though.
I have used my different cables and can see that they are actually working (charging and syncing etc), but am i using old cable that was not intended to draw 2.1 amps and so may overheat and cause damage in the long run?
Or did apple deliberately over engineer the original cables which were only needed to supply 1 amp and they can actually be used to draw 2.1 amps comfortably?
Whilst the 30 pin connectors and usb points are identical, is the internal cable thickness/awg gauge the same?
    Thanks

Hi, my iPad dies in the middle of a purchase for a game add on, when I charged the iPad and reloaded the game a box is on the screen that says " cannot complete your purchase" I can't slope this box, and cat play the game while it is there, I have tried removing the game several times and reinstalling but the box still appears, I even tried installing the game on a different apple I'd, and still the box is there, do you k ow how to fix this?

    Hi Bev076,
I would try these ideas first:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If that doesn't resolve the situation, I would suggest reporting it:

  • Can i add a second Apple ID to my iPad (to be able to charge purchases to a different account)?

My wife has an iPad. I have a MacBook Air. We both have our own individual Apple ID. Can I add my Apple ID to her iPad (to be able to charge purchases to my account)?

It can only have one Apple ID signed onto it at a time in the iTunes & App Stores.
Your best bet is to make the purchases via the MacBook Air, then sync the iPad via iTunes. My husband and I share an iTunes library (but both have our own Apple IDs), and we share music purchased by both of us using the sync process.
Downloading via automatic downloads or by downloading past purchases can create problems because the device becomes associated with the Apple ID that is used to do any of those actions, and it cannot be associated with a different Apple ID for 90 days. So, that can get kind of crazy:
Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support
But syncing via a shared library is just syncing, and does not create the "associated device" issue.
    Cheers,

Yes, when playing graphic intensive games.

  • Is it okay to use the iPad while it is charging? Will it affect the battery?

My iPad battery sometimes runs low and I plug it in and continue to use it while charging. Is this safe for the battery to do so?

Yes it is safe to do so. I am using my iPad while it is charging right now. When the charge is complete, it will quit charging on its own. You will not hurt the battery.

  • Can I use my new IPad while it is charging

Can I use my New IPad while it is charging?

You can use the iPad while it's charging, however, it will take longer to fully charge.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. yesterday i was playing on my ipad while putting it in charger and then it turned off because the charge ended..then i left it chargingall night long and when i woke up i found my ipad doing this it keeps showing the logo then displays the lock screen and very fast it show circle with points moving then it shuts down and displays the battery empty but charging...it keeps doing this non stop how to open my ipad again !! Help!!sorry for very bad english

First try a reset, by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
If that fails, you can try restoring the iPad using Recovery Mode.
