Am I able to download the iWork app for free if I previously purchased the software?

I recently went to an Apple store to get a new hard drive for my Mac Book Pro. When I purchased my Mac, I bought the software iWork, including Pages, Keynote, and the Apple version of Excel (forgot the name). After having my hard drive replaced, I had to transfer my files back onto the Mac. I have misplaced where my disc for the redownload of the iWork program is, but I am aware that the software is in the App store. Am I able to download a copy to my new hard drive, free of charge?

Not unless you purchased them from the App Store. Your copy is from a boxed set on DVD. You can only reinstall from the DVD. You can purchase the applications from the App Store after which future redownloads would be free. Note that you must upgrade OS X to 10.7.4 or later to use the iWork applications from the App Store.

    Hey Davin12,
Yes. The apps are not pre-installed, but rather you are prompted to download them the first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7:
About Free Apple Apps for iOS 7 compatible devices
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5913
iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated or purchased after September 1, 2013
The first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7 on your qualifying new or factory refurbished iOS device, you will be offered iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers for free in addition to other free software from Apple. When you tap Download All and sign in with your Apple ID, the apps will be downloaded to your device and added to your store account. If you tap Not Now when you see the offer, you can go back to each of the apps in the store and download them one at a time for free.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I just purchased an iPhone 6 and got the iWork-apps for free. Shouldn't they be free for my MacBook now too?

I just purchased an iPhone 6 and got the iWork-apps for free.
I had the impression that I would get a free copy for my Mac too. Is this correct?

    Hi ..
Afraid not. Reason being, the apps that run on your iPhone are designed for iOS.
Apps that run on your Mac are designed for OS X.
    Two different operating systems.
Those apps must be purchased separately from the App Store on your Mac.

  • I just purchased an ipad air and can't get the iwork apps for free as advertised.

    Just purchased ipad air.
iwork apps are still showing up as 10 bucks.
How do I get them for free like you are supposed to??

Go here to verify your device registration (you'll need to login using your Apple ID credentials):
    https://supportprofile.apple.com/
You can view your registered device(s) here and if there are any you've missed registering, you can do so that as well. You can also register new devices here.
Afterwards, visit the App Store and your free apps should be available to you.

  • Can I still download iwork apps for free with a new apple id?

I bought a new ipad, iphone and mac. all activated for the first time with the same apple id. i can download all iwork apps for free at that time because the devices were bought after iwork is free for "new" devices. later on i'm thinking of creating a new apple id, can i still download iwork apps for free with the new apple id on all my 3 devices?

Once they've been downloaded they can't be downloaded again using a different Apple ID.

  • Have a iPhone 5s and can't Download iwork apps for free

I bought my iPhone 5s since 1 year (after september). There i get the iWork apps for free. But now they cost money.
    Some Information :
    Now I´m on iOS8
I have changed one time my email-adress
My iPhone 5s is registered on my apple id
I hope you can help me, because i have tried so much...

I had the same problem on my iPad Air: i deleteded the apps before IOS8, then after the upgrade iWork was not on the cloud for free anymore. Thanks to your question I remembered I changed my appleID after the download of iWork. So I had to login with my previous appleID on the appstore and i could download them again for free. Maybe it works the same for you (but I'm not sure since you say your iPhone it's registered on your appleID). Give it a try.

  • Why are the iWork apps not free FOR ME?

This might be a pretty old question, but lately I came to know that iWork apps were/are free for iOS 7 running devices, and my iPhone 4s which runs on iOS 7.1.2 and I activated it JUST 4 DAYS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 2013 (And many say, those who activated their iDevices after September 1st of 2013 are eligible to download iWork apps for free) is not able to get those apps for free. So is there any trick on refreshing/re-activating my account so that I get those apps (iPhoto, iMovie, Pages etc.) for free? Not being mean, but I feel so embarrassed for not activating my phone just after 4 days so that all those apps which I needed most would have been free (And ofcourse I did not know They would come for free if I had activated my phone afer 4 days ).

The offer for free iWorks apps is date dependent. If you purchased it prior to the eligible date, no, you are not entitled to them for free, and there is no trick to getting them. you will need to purchase them.

  • None of the iWork apps for iOS can open documents from Dropbox or Google Drive

Starting on version 2.5, all the iWork apps for iOS are supposed to be able to open files from any third-party storage provider like Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Actually, this feature was mentioned in the Apple presentation by Craig Federighi. Box works as advertised, however Dropbox and Google drive fail to show in the storage providers list, even though they appear in the "Manage Storage Providers" list, where you activate/deactivate the function. The Box app, works really nice, you can open any file, make changes and save back to Box. Any ideas?

In all likelihood the issue isn't with any app specifically, but on the server side of those services that aren't working
I can see how that makes sense. Thanks.
It's still confusing, however, for a few reasons:
    1) many storage apps (e.g. One drive)don't show up at all in the chooser, so why are Box and Dropbox showing up there (you can toggle them on) but not working.
    2) Google Drive specifically listed in the last update that it could now open from and save to drive in other apps, but it doesn't work in iWork apps.
    3) Dropbox has implemented the chooser and it DOES work with google drive. So if the problem is that Google hasn't implemented something on their end, I still wonder why it actually does work in the dropbox app.

  • HT1688 Cannot download iWork apps for free. I have iPhone5s.

A month ago i got iphone 5s through AT&T and i was trying to download the iWork apps but its asking me to enter the credit card information.
I was wondering how i can download these apps since they are free for new iphone 5s and 5c customer and i am a new iphone customer.
    Appreciate your help.

Your iTunes account associated with your Apple ID requires a valid form of payment to download apps. Even free apps require a valid form of payment even though you will not be charged for them.
When you find the iWork apps you want to download they should be listed as Free. As long as you see that, you will not be charged for them.

  • I got my 27" Mac on 10/06/13...can I, or rather shouldn't I, get the iwork suite for free?  2 weeks is a hard hit for $60 in apps after spending $1800.

I got my 27" Mac on 10/06/13...can I, or rather shouldn't I, get the iwork suite for free?  2 weeks is a hard hit for $60 in apps after spending $1800.  The store told me that Mavericks was guarenteed for 6 months.  So when I bought it early, (knowing that Mavericks was coming), I had no fears.  But to watch the keynote today, and come home and see the cost is a bit of a sour Apple.

Are you trying to install a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 8?
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp.

Can I download What's App for Free in IPod Touch?

You can download it on your computer. However, about two years ago the developer updated the app and the updated app is only  compatible with iPhones. Thus, it will not install on an iPod (or iPad).

  • I just bought a Macbook Pro do I get the iWork update for free?

I bought my Macbook Pro on Monday (7/23/12) and now 2 days later they have come out with Mountain Lion and iWork update. I know I get the Mountain Lion update for free but do I also get the iWork update for free. If so, how?

If your system is only 2 days old, you may have the most recent version of iWork. Just run Software Update to be sure.

  • I can't download an app for free even though I bought the app on another device.

I downloaded an app on my iPad 1 a few years ago and recently I bought an iPad mini, but the problem is I can't download the app for free! Even though I logged in the same account app store tells me to buy the app. What do I have to do so that I don't have to pay twice for a same app?

If you are using the Purchased tab where your purchases are listed to re-download it then you shouldn't be charged. If you are being asked to enter your credit card details when trying to download it via that tab then that will be for account verfication purposes - you are currently in the country where your account is based ?
