Am I able to play blu-ray disks on this Satellite L755?

I have received a driver Alert which should enable me to play Blu Ray disks.
Downloading does not work on my L755.
Am I able to play blu ray on this machine?

Thanks. I have Satellite L755 Model TAIS Model Number PSK2YE-0MX014EN.
I understood when I bought the laptop that I could not play Blu-ray, but the repeated "Alert" seems to promise otherwise:
"This software provides you the capability to play back Blu-ray discs"
Shame....

Yeah if you do not have a Blu-Ray drive....no Blu-Ray but the spec page for your model says they all have at least a Blu-Ray reader.

  • I used to be able to play blu rays, but after the reinstall I don't have winDVD any more

I own a Toshiba Satellite A505-6965. When I first got the laptop I had all these toshiba items on there. Recently I had to reinstall and reformat my laptop losing all toshiba items. I used to have winDVD and now I don't have it nor can I find it.I was also able to play blu-ray, but everytime I try to install winDVD BD for toshiba it tells me I have to have a previous version of WinDVD first. Where is winDVD?

It looks like you posted this over a month ago, so I don't know if you got your issue resolved, but I was just having the same exact issue. My hard drive was corrupted and I had to have it replaced, but when I got my computer back no WinDVD, even though it originally came pre-installed with the computer. I eventually found this in the forums...
    http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Computer-Troubleshooting/Corel-WinDVD-not-working-after-a-restore/m-p/1...
The one thing I found was that the update still didn't work. However, I have Toshiba Alerts set up, so when I restarted my computer, an alert popped up that an update was available. Actually the update was more recent (by a couple days only) than the one posted online. That update worked fine and I know can play blu-rays again on my computer.

  • Cannot play blu-ray discs on my Satellite A665-11Z

I reloaded my machine with windows 7 64bit the other day and since then I cannot play Blu-Ray movies anymore.
Before the reload, I could play the movies.
Is there any drivers for the DVD drive or how can one solve this issue?
I use WinDVD to play my blu-ray movies and the error is "Media not Supported"
    Thanks

Original Toshiba recovery image contains two players. One is for DVDs (Toshiba DVD player) and player for BR discs (WinDVD BD for Toshiba). You cannot use some WinDVD player for playing BR discs.
Are you 100% sure that you can use this player for BR discs?

  • Toshiba F755-S5219 wont play blu rays

    Hi,
I have a Qosmio F755-S5219 with a built in Blu Ray player. I had been able to play blu rays including 3D blu rays.
I recently updated to the newest Nvidia driver and Toshiba Blu Ray player (1.05.130) and have been unable to play blu rays ever since.
    DVDs play fine.
I tried reinstalling blu ray player and super ic software.
I tried reinstalling original display driver, blu ray player software and Super IC
I reinstalled current version of BIOS
I tried reupdating to Ver 1.05.130 and current nVidia Display driver.
I just tried updating to 1.05.207
DVDs always work, but blu rays auto open the toshiba player then go to a blank screen with 00:00:00 and stop
Blu Rays play fine in ArcSoft total Theater 6. So it is clearly and issue with The Toshiba software.
I contacted toshiba tech support, and the first level told me to do the same things I've done and Level 3 said they would charge me for any more help.
    Any Ideas would be appriciated.
(and yes I've tried FIX IT)

    Hi
The WinDVD BD was preinstalled on notebooks which are equipped with an BD drive.
The notebook seems to be an Toshiba Australian series and I found all the drivers and tools here:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/qosmio/f60/pqf65a-00y002/download
There you can see that an WinDVD 8 Blu-ray Player Update is available for download but for models with Blu-ray.
If you are still using the original Toshiba Windows system, then you could try to set the notebook back to factory settings using the HDD recovery option or Recovery disk (you have to create such disk) and then can check if WinDVD BD would appear as preinstalled software.

  • Playing blu-rays using VLC

I have the latest iMac running Yosemite and wanted to be able to play blu ray discs using a Freecom mobile blu-ray writer, so I downloaded VLC media player (latest Mac OS X version 2.1.5), a free software that is supposed to do that and more. The problem is that when I try to play a blu ray, I get the message "Blu-ray error. This Blu-ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it."
I found various suggestions on the internet for Mac-users with older operating systems, but they were complicated to follow and I am concerned that they may not work with Yosemite.
Could anyone kindly tell me where I can get a clear explanation as to what I should do to be able to play blu rays using VLC with Yosemite? Thank you!

Other posters here have bought Sansung drives and complained that they wouldn't work, either.
I have been to the Samsung website on several occasions to research this issue  and I can find no evidence that these drives are Mac compatible.
I believe that no optical drive from Samsung is compatible with Macs.
Here are some Blu-ray drives that are known to be Mac compatible.
Return the drive you have and try these.

  • Can blue-ray disks be played on the new iMac?

If I buy disks in blue ray format, can they be played on the new iMac?

    Matt
I don't believe the internal DVD drive that comes with the iMac is capable of playing a Blu-Ray disc, period, Windows or otherwise. It would require an external Blu-Ray drive AND Windows. Not exactly cost effective when a stand alone player costs about $100 these days.

  • Blu-ray disk plays with snowy pictures at the beginning

I need help with a new issue with my burning (Win 7 Pro, CS5.0 from Adobe's original installation disks, LG BD-rewriter; different BD-R, BD-RE blank disks: Sony, Philips, Kodak).
While playing within Encore with the "Preview From Here" feature doesn't show any problem, burning (either directly from Encore, or from file with ImgBurn) and playing for the TV on the Blu-ray player (Panasonic DMP BDT330), every once in a while, the beginning of some menu items plays a snowy noise intermittent with some black frames for anywhere between 3 - 6 seconds. Playing back several times, this issue happens at the beginning of different menu items (and mainly when playing a playlist with the same items).
Playing commercial Blu-ray disks, or my older Blu-ray disks, there is nothing wrong with the playback.
It seems to me that this is something either that Encore or the LG OD does. Before I start reinstalling the CS5 suite (removing it with Revo first), I would greatly appreciate any idea about the cause of this behavior.
Also, it would help me to eliminate some of the possible culprits if I could play back the Blu-ray disk directly from my BD drive. I would appreciate any suggestion for a good and tested software (free, or paid for) that would not interfere with Adobe (or mess up my "pristine" OS ).
    Thank you very much,
    Laci.
P.S. My guess at this point is that the culprit is the BD burner. While commercial DVD/BDs are "pressed", home burners use PCM (phase change memory - and also memories from my Intel years working on their reliability). If the burner laser gets older/defective, then the melting/recristallisation of the PCM lmemory element might not be "perfect", and when it is read, it sometimes gives the wrong response (even with ECC which I am not sure they employ in DVDs).
I am still waiting for, and greatly appreciate, some advice before I rush to buy a new burner or reinstall the whole CS5.
    Thanks,
    Laci.
P.P.S. Sorry for all these information most of which is probably irrelevant (especially the PCM memory part ). I opened (should have done first) the BD disk on my computer and checked the m2ts files in BDMV > STREAM > *.m2ts. They all (including the motion menus) play flawlessly on the computer with WMP. So, the burning and playback of these files causes no problem. The problem most probably comes when Encore builds the navigation. Since the motion menus on the disk also play without any hickups, I assume that it is the Encore itself that causes these problems. I am going to reinstall CS5. (The still open question at this point is, how it is possible that this snowy few seconds before some of these m2ts files does not always happen at the same m2ts file playing back the same BD disk on the TV.)
I would still appreciate some input from the expert users.
BTW, is there any program out there whith what I could substitute Adobe Encore? (This is the only weak spot of the entire suite ).
    - Laci.

the beginning of some menu items plays a snowy noise intermittent with some black frames for anywhere between 3 - 6 seconds. Playing back several times, this issue happens at the beginning of different menu items (and mainly when playing a playlist with the same items).
What does menu items mean? I assume that it is menus themselves, not timeline movies?
What could Encore do that would create this? I don't know, but assume that it is more likely to do with disk seek problems and the like. And yes, where things are put physically on the disk can be an issue. But burn/disk issues are more likely.
Have you tried this on a different player?

  • Problem playing commercial Blu Ray disks

We seem to have a problem playing commercial Blu-Ray disks with the SCCM client installed, it seem that the Microsoft mirror driver breaks the Blu-Ray licensing and disk can not be played? any ideas?

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up.
This is not something that can be answered here in the forums, you will need to contact CSS directly for support, they can work with you to solve this problem.

  • The best way to play blu ray discs/movies UP TO DATE

I am a huge TLOTR fan (lol) and up until recently I thought the quality of the movie i have(in digital form) was decent or even great, I recently bought a 15" inch macbook pro(2.2ghz)-- my first apple computer--- and when I played the same exact movie, the quality just looked terrible, in fact every digital movie I own doesn't look as stunning or high quality I thought it was. I'm slowly upgrading my movie library to a better quality one and the first thing I have to have is "the lord of the rings" trilogy(extended version) , so I guess the closest i can get to high picture quality is by buying those blu ray discs, one problem: how do I play blu ray on my macbook pro and will I experience a better quality than those normal DVDs.
According to your experience with blu ray, which is the best way to play blu ray discs on a macbook? ( please provide steps or pointers since I'm new at this)
Also, any alternative suggestions to be able to watch the movie in high quality is welcome, i just thought blu ray was the closest thing to perfect quality. Keep in mind i can't buy from itunes since I don't own a credit card.
TL;DR : I need to play blu ray disc movies on my 15"macbook pro 2011, what's the best way to go about this to get as close to full quality as possible. Also, would it make any difference if I bought blu ray disks versus the conventional DVDs (regarding movie quality)? Since the screen resolution of the 15" pro is not enough to experience "full HD quality"?

I am sorry to say that you cannot play Blu-ray movies on any Mac. Whether any of us agree or disagree with this, it is the way of things currently. One can rip Blu-ray movies to a Mac, and play them without menus or extras, but this is illegal and it is a violation of the terms of use of these forums to discuss.
