Am I able to replace a graphics card

Hello
So, i was wondering if i am able to replace or upgrade my graphics card on my laptop. The product key is VY794UA#ABA.
Thank You to whoever answers this

Hi,
It's not really practical as the GPU is physically soldered to the Motherboard and as such, is not really an upgradeable component.

  • Possible to upgrade or replace my graphics card on a v460?

Hi, my graphics card just isn't cutting it for running my autocad and revit programs on my IdeaPad v460.  I have downloaded all the latest drivers and wiped out my whole computer  hoping the graphics would improve but they havn't.  My question is, is it possible to replace my graphics card with a different one?  If so how should i go about doing this?  Thanks for your help and input!

You can only replace the same graphic modal if its soldered to the mainboard because it wont be compatible with mainboard.

  • Can I replace the graphics card on Tecra M2?

I have a Tecra M2 and the screen shows verticle lines across the entire screen. These lines also show up when plugged up to a regular screen.
I checked the device manager and it says the nvidia card "cannot start." Troubleshoot had me uninstall and reinstall, no luck.
Next option is to unplug and then plug back in, but is this possible? If it is separate I'd rather just replace the card. Thanks for any help.

According to your error description it sounds really like a GPU (graphic processing unit) malfunction.
Unfortunately, this is a serious fault and without a hardware replacement you will be not able to solve this problem :(
This is a worth case because you cannot replace only the graphic card. You have to replace the whole motherboard because the GPU is soldered on the board and cannot be removed easily.
There is nothing to do buddy.
Seems you have to contact a technician for assistance.
    Good luck

  • Do I need to replace video graphic card or power supply unit on hp compaq presario sr2180nx

    hello all
i saw a similar post over 4 years ago, however it doesn't address my issue.
my pc started stalling when i attempt to turn it on.  It wouldn't come on. Then after several tries every now and then it would come on. I was told through searching that it could be the video graphic card or the power supply. Therefore once i had the computer back on.  I never shut it off. However, i could reboot and it would come on.
Now it won't come on again. So i don't know what to replace. The video graphic card or the power supply.  If it is the graphic card, do i replace the one previously installed or add a new one. And if adding a new one, what is recommended to be compatible with my 300 watt supply unit? I'm lost as what route to take and how.Below are the details of my unit.
HP/Compaq Presario SR2180NX desktop PC with a P5LP-LE motherboard with an Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 950.
*Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.
Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards
    300 watt supply.
thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Is there an add-in video card in the slot? If so, remove it and try to turn on. If the problem is the video card it will turn on. If not it is the power supply.

  • Replacing defective graphics card in my HP Pavilion Elite m9361.uk-a

I have an old HP Pavilion Elite m9361.uk-a desktop pc, which I was planning on giving away to family.  Unfortunately, the graphics card doesn’t work anymore.  I’m looking to replace this with something similar or better if possible and just wondered what my options were.  I just want something I can slot in without having to upgrade other hardware if possible.  It was primarily used as a gaming pc (WOW) and will be in the future.  The link above shows it’s current specifications.
    Many thanks in advance,

    Hi,
Review this posted document.  Do you have room for a double wide graphics card? If there is a PCI-E card installed in the adjacent slot then can you move it over?
Someone a while back posted a similar issue and did not want to upgrade the power supply and additionally the graphics card needed to be a single slot card. hmmmm  I did find a solution for that issue but it was a challenge. You might want to search the forum and see if you can find the solution.

  • Need to replace my graphic card

Hello. My current graphic card is ati radeon x800 xt mac edition - for some reason the fan stopped working so I need to replace it.
My job place offers an ATI 40% discount so I'd like to stay with ATI. Only thing is they do not offer this exact card any longer. Are there any other cards that would be supported with this version of PPC?
Radeon® X1650 Pro 512MB AGP says it only supports xp
    Radeon® X1900 G5 Mac® Edition RoHS 256MB PCI Express® this I know isn't supported since my G5 doesn't have PCI-Express...
I never bought a graphic card before - so I'm super concerned about compatibility issues.
Do you know of any current ATI graphic cards that are supported with this G5?
    Power Mac G5 (PowerMac7,2)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2CPU 2GHZ 1GB RAM

There are four ATI cards that work in the AGP G5. In order of speed:
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Power Mac G5 Edition (one ADC, one single-link DVI)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC & Mac Edition (one single-link, one dual-link, DVI)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition (one ADC, one single-link DVI)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition (one ADC, one dual-link DVI)
They are all listed in the Mac section of ATI's web-site as current cards
    <http://ati.amd.com/products/mac.html>
They used to be listed in the store section, too, but since AMD bought ATI, they only list one Mac card there, and it is not AGP.
    Most are available at OWC

  • Macbook Pro - Replacement motherboard graphic card

During the summer my macbook pro suffered graphic card failure with its 256mb Nvidia 9600gt graphic card. Apple luckily covered the problem and I was fine, however, did apple resolve this problem in the new motherboard I got or is it the same kind? Is this likely to happen again? I intend to use this computer long term and I would hate for this to occur again.

I have the same issue with my MBP also. I don't know but i see more and more of this issue accruing every time I'm on here. I'm a bit lucky that they are repairing it for free even though i never purchased a Apple Care. hahaha. Whew lucky me!!
I took this article "Distorted Video or no Video issue" http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377 and showed it to a Mac Guises and they were able to honor it. I had to take it to them twice for them to honor it though.
I was a bit disappointed that the first tech didn't offer me this repair when it was available for awhile now. I had to come on here and find that article myself and take it back in the 2nd time, .... this time showing them that same article and they were able to honor it.
I hope to get my back soon. I'm left in the cold without it.
I hope those of you who are going through same thing, ... bring a copy of that article in and hopefully they can get yours fixed also.

  • Can I replace a Graphics card on a HP Pavilion DV6-2311ee ?

is it possiable to change the Graphics card of this model ?

    Hi,
Basically you can, with a cost and I believe this cost may be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:
New card price,  and WHERE you can buy it because laptop cards are not the same as desktop cards. You can't buy from any normal shop,
Need new system board (may be),
Need new cooling system because generally speaking more powerfull card pumps out more heat (you want more powerfull card don't you?).
May need new PSU because your current PSU may not suitbale to the card. (I ordered a machine with Nvidia card and I needed to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal 65W charger. They simply rejected my order).
    Labor cost.
    Many, many packets of Asprin.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can i replace a graphics card on a compaq 6910p

I bought a used Compaq 6910p formy daughter that uses the Vista OS.  We have digitally installed the Sims 3 game, but can't seem torun it.  Every time we start to run the gameit givesus the following error message:
    Unable to Start game.
    Device0 cannot run this title.
No supported video graphics card detected.  Please check your system hardware.
I believe my notebook has a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, so was wondering if I can update that driver so the Sims 3 game can be played on this notebook? I have reserched numerous websites with no luck finding a solution.  Can anyone recommend a plan of attack on what I should do?
    Thanks!
    RCB1968

That's quite an old notebook and I believe there is nothing that can be done to improve it's performance to play the Simpson's game.
The other problem that you may face is that you're running Vista on a machine that was meant for Windows 2000 and it simply can't handle that OS and there may not be a compatible driver for it.
You can try this though, go to Intel and run the driver finder and see if it can find a newer driver that may help.
     http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_spotlight_dctop10
This assumes you're running an Intel video card. I could not find you specs, so the other card you may have is
     ATI.
     http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
ATI also has an application to automatically find the correct driver. It's at the top of the list in "Green"

  • I'm not able to replace a graphic

I know very little about InDesign, but this should be a super simple thing to do.  I have an indesign file given to me that I need to simply replace the current graphic (logo, pdf file) with another.  I want the new graphic to take up the same amount of space as the old one.  It won't let me "replace selected item" and I can't simply drag it into the frame that surrounds the original graphic.  What can I do?!? I've been trying all sorts of things and looking for answers, but nothing has worked!

It would be about a million times easier to help you if we could see the logo on the page and the links panel when you've selected whatever it is you are able to select that contains the logo. Right now it sounds to me like whatever it is is pasted.
Please post a screen capture showing that area of the page, with the logo "selected" and the Links panel visible. Use the camera icon on the web page to embed it in your post like this:

  • Can I replace my graphics card in my HP G7 pavilion?

    I have a refurbished HP Pavilion G7 notebook Model#B5R83UAR#ABL
It has an Intel i5-3210m cpu @2.5 GHZ
The GPU is a Radeon HD 7670M.
Is it possible to upgrade the GPU, and if needed the CPU as well?  Thanks in advance.  I am new to owning a laptop.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
The only way to upgrade the video adapter in a notebook is to completely replace the motherboard with one for your model that may have better graphics.
Normally such a project will set you back more than you paid for the notebook as the motherboard alone (assuming there is an available one with better graphics) will cost several hundred dollars just for the part.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.  Supported processors can be found in chapter 1, on page 1.
It used to be that quad core processors required a different motherboard than the dual core processors but I don't see different motherboards listed for quad or dual core processors, only the type of graphics (chapter 3).
So, I cannot tell you if an i7 quad core will work in your notebook or not.

  • Will Apple replace NVIDIA graphics card for free?

I've read a lot of discussions on here about the failing NVIDIA cards and Apple having to replace the entire motherboard. Some users have had the experience of Apple replacing the card free of charge, others have had to pay a hefty price. Is there any logic to Apple's discretion of the charge? If so, how do I navigate the "genius" system to avoid a fee? I am, of course, interested in paying as little as possible as this is obviously a manufacturing defect and the costs should be covered by the manufacturer; if there is not going to be a TOTAL RECALL!

Not quit sure if we are are talking about one or two batteries.  Where are you getting "health id"  ??? numbers.
Non-the-less you can option click on the battery icon menulet in the upper right. What is the stated condition?
You can recalibrate the batery if you have never done it.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/9036.html
    This may help.
Otherwise I would take it to an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider  (AASP) for evaluation, or call your nearest Apple Contact Center. Visit the Genius Bar at the Apple Retail Store,  make a reservation.
