Am I able to stream from sub folders within the VOD?
Hi guys,
I have Flash Media Server 3.5 on a Windows server, but I don't no much about how to make it work. Until know we have only used it for live streaming.
I have let myself guide through the beginners pages and they're helpful, testing everything locally (applications/babyvultures/streams/_definst_/vultures.mp4).
The problem is when I copy my project to the server; same structure, but no video. If I move the file to the applications/vod/media, and change the path in the script, there is no problems.
So the big question is: am I able to have sub folders within the applications/vod ?
The thing is, that I want to publish videos from different sites that is also located on the server, and what I thought I could do, was to make sub folders, one for each site and then people can access their streaming folder via FTP, being able to publish their own videos with the advantage of rtmp streaming.
Is it a limit in FMS? Or is there a solution?

My case is that I have FMS 3.5 (not FMIS) installed on a webserver with a bunch of sites who each have their videos, (some more than others).
Right now they all publish their videos via each their site root or videos folder with progressive download, so to improve the viewers experience and to decrease the level uploaded Gb from the server, I want to use the FMS with RTMP streaming.
On the webserver we have a few sites, who has a large quantity of videos and very long ones, and they need to have a sub folder structure to administrate their videos, so it could look like this:

I am not planning to make something very complicated with scipts and such. Just a Joomla site and a module where I type in the address of the videos.
I have tested with Adobe Flash, and the beginners samples, to make a script that shows a video from applications/BabyVultures/streams/_definst_/, but I cannot make it work unless I place the video in the VOD.
I have the same problem publishing videos thruogh a Joomla module - I cannot get access to the video.
The funny thing is that, in the Flash Administration Console, it detects and accepts the request, but yet nothing happens.
What is confusing is the MEDIA folder inside the VOD, but it is not part of the stream path name.
What should be the path of the file: vod/subfolder/video.f4v or vod/media/subfolder/video.f4v or something else?

Hi, Apple Mail provides a function to create sub-folders within my mailbox so that I can group emails of similar subjects or from the same sender. My service provider only provides POP email protocol and the New Folder button does not appear in my Apple Mail account for that service provider. Icloud provides the opportunity for the iPad user to select between POP and IMAP. I can select IMAP and the New Folder button appears allowing me to create sub-folders within the icloud email account. Does this mean I cannot create sub-folders in my email account unless my service provider provides customers with the option of creating an IMAP email account?

Yes. That is what it means. You need an IMAP account in order to create sub folders on the iPad. -
Bridge Freezes when Show Items From Sub Folders
Hi all. I am trying to create a portfolio of past works. Using Adobe Bridge and Show Items From Sub Folders makes it easy to go through thousands of files. One major problem though; Bridge is not stable. When I try to view a folder with thousands of files Bridge will freeze and I have to force quite.
I am running a Mac Pro with Adobe Design CS4 Premium installed. I have 16gb of Ram and have played around with Bridge's preferences and deleted Bridges preference files. I also tried all the options list on Adobe's check list.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stephen ThompsonBridge is not stable. When I try to view a folder with thousands of files Bridge will freeze and I have to force quite.
As a matter of fact, bridge CS4 is the most stable version of bridge, and although still not perfect yo should be able to view the folder in flat view.
It only takes a lot of time to cache if you have not done before. If cache does not start you first should try to purge cache for folder using the tools menu.
If Bridge keeps freezing first thing to try is to restart holding down option key and choose reset preferences. Set prefs again to your own wishes and try again.
You can also try to first cache the folder using the tools menu. In the folderpanel select the main folder you want to view its contents and go to the tools menu / cache and this time select build and export cache.
Depending on the amount and size of files it takes some time. Then try again.
It is able to work, as it does on my system. I have also a main folder that contains around 5000 files organized in stacks and works as it should -
Since I put my music on the cloud, I cannot access it without downloading each song individually. I thought I was going to be able to stream from the cloud without downloading. Each download takes over a minute and I have 2000 songs! How can I just listen to my music again without downloading each and every song??? BTW, I purchased the iPhone 5S hoping that this issue would be solved with more memory - it's not. At this point I just want to remove the whole cloud-thing from my phone and go back to only having the songs on one device, no download required except the original iTunes purchase. How do I do this???
Welcome to the Apple Community.
It sounds as though you misunderstood the purpose of iTunes Match. You still need to have the content on the device to play it.
However it's effectively no different than before in that you keep your most played content on your phone but are able to download stuff you rarely play should you ever wish to.
There's no value whatsoever in iTunes Match unless your library doesn't fit on your phone. -
I was organizing my bookmarks, by mistake I deleted a folder, after that I restored from a back up file (from the library window), instead of getting my bookmarks restored, I've lost all the sub folders including the bookmarks within!!! Now i only have the bookmarks in the unsorted bookmarks folder. What went wrong here and how can i get my bookmarks back?
For the next time that this happens:
If you have accidentally removed bookmarks then use "Organize > Undo" in the bookmarks manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) to get them back.<br />
The Organize button is the first of the three buttons on the toolbar in the Library (Bookmarks Manager).<br />
That only works if you haven't closed Firefox.<br />
If it didn't work then you can restore the bookmarks from a JSON backup.<br />
This will replace all current bookmarks and you lose bookmarks that were added since that backup was created.<br />

In that case you need to export the current bookmarks to an HTML file before doing the restore and import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup.<br />
You can remove duplicates with the CheckPlaces extension or you can copy the existing bookmarks to the clipboard before restoring the JSON backup and Paste them back afterward.

MikkelI didn't set anything - it just happened. I think it only works for IMAP accounts. If yours is IMAP, the only thing I can think of is to delete the account and set it up again

I want to use a pre-fab script to monitor the OS folders on a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller and send any changes into the Event Log. But there are two folders in the file path I want to exclude because changes to them would fill up the Event Logs
too quickly. Thus, I want to monitor all folder in C:\Windows but want to exclude C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Windows\debug.
The script I want to use is below.

ThanksFirst, thank you to everyone who has been helping me. I've gotten a little bit further in what I need to do. I still have two problems that I really need help in sorting out:
1. The script will run on Windows 7 with no errors but will not run on a Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller. On the DC, I get an error for the SourceIdentifier: "A parameter cannot be found that mataches parameter name 'SourceIdentifier'."
2. Even though the script runs on Windows 7 with no errors, I tested it by making changes to the Temp and debug folders and the changes were still being recorded in the logs.

I want to create folders inside of VOD that I can use to store FLV in and them stream them to webpages. When I do this the webpage displays a white screen It doesnt seem to find the FLV. How can I do this? Does anyone know? thanks in advance.
ok...do this....take it out of that vod folder all together because as you make more applications....you'll realize you gonna have to use different folders and thats more like a default folder.....
set up a folder like this.......application/myVids/streams/vod
when you connect to rtmp connect here

even though there's a "streams" folder inbetween you dont connect to it....
now the actual flv files will be in subfolders inside of the vod folder above....like this
homevids/first.flv
awayvids/second.flv
so when you tell the stream to play you tell it to play like this.....
ns.play("homevids/first");
or
ns.play("awayvids/second");
so the address in your xml file will be like <location>"homevids/first"</location>
or however you write you xml locations ....key point you put folder before name and dont add the .flv extension

No longer able to group applications into folders in the Applications folder?
I would like to group applications in Folders in the Applications Folder, which I have dragged back to to the dock. This is the way I had managed apps in Snow Leopard. I can create folders no problem,but when I try to drag apps into these folders, a copy is always left behind in the Applications folder. How do I move the app? I am not able to delete the copies that are left behind.
My Account has Admin rights, and this is a clean install into an empty partition....I wanted to check out Lion before moving from SL.
Launchpad is pretty, but I prefer the Applications Folder.It does cause problems in a number of circumstances.
In this forum alone, there are several threads with many users who used Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to transfer their stuff, ended up with lots of duplicate apps because of it, and had great difficulty finding and deleting the duplicates.
There have also been folks whose apps did't get updated, and Adobe apps that wouldn't run at all.
Again, it depends on the apps and circumstances. -
Zip'ing files from multiple folders to the same zip file
Could somebody recommend a method to create a zip file with file contents from multiple folders? Or is there an application I can drag and drop a bunch of files to zip em?
First highlight all of the folders or files. If they're not right next to each other, or on the same drives, hold down the Command key while clicking to choose the next without losing previous choices.
Once they're all highlighted, right click on any highlighted item and choose "Compress xxx Items". -
I can´t use folders and sub folders in the screensaver now, whay´s that?

thank youBecause Apple doesn't want you to have choices. They also remove many previously installed ones, apparently because they would work well with their retina displays. I restored those. File a bug report with Apple for lost functionality.
