    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you try to copy data to the external drive, what happens? If you don't see any error, the external drive is formatted in NTFS, and OS X can't write in it.
To be able to write on this external drive, you have to use an app like Paragon NTFS. Another solution would be to format the external drive in FAT32 or exFAT with Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html Make sure you copied all the files of the external disk to the internal disk before doing it

What do you mean by that? Did you format?

  • HT4059 I used to be able to transfer PDFs from Dropbox to iBooks but now the file appears for about 1 second and then disappears - any ideas?

Can anyone help? I want to transfer PDF files from Dropbox to iBooks but when I do, the file appears for about 1 second then disappears. I used to Beatle to do this with no problems, but now it doesn't work. Help!

I had the same problem.  After numerous attemps to Restore from Itunes, I decided to use the "Setup as New Ipad" option. It went through a few question on new setups. Afterwards all my apps, data, photo's were still intact. Which shows that the Restore from Itunes worked. There must be a small bug that prevents the Ipad to open after "Restore from Itunes" .  Hope it will help you.

    Hi Nablan
Using "OPEN DATASET..." or "TRANSFER..." is useless I think. Because you need the file at presentation layer. So the whole process which contains some interaction with the presentation layer can not be processed. And here in Jesus' case the concern is a file at presentation.

  • Compressor opens but am not able to transfer files from FCP studio?

Help! I have tried installing FCP Studio (6.02) 2 to 3 times. I have tried removing Compressor from the Applications list under the library preferences.
When I open Final Cut and highlight the sequence and then send to to Compressor, I see the Compressor title open up at the top but my files do not appear. I don't know if its corrupt or if there is a reset to cause all the windows to appear. I am able to use the drop down list to make the inspector and other windows appear but cannot find my files.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Golfhacker

That signals a problem with QMaster, which is most likely something you didn't remove prior to your reinstall. Apple published a document to help troubleshoot this problem, which has been linked to numerous times on this forum.

  • How to transfer files from iTalk lite to iTalk premium

How to transfer file fr italk lite to premium

    Grac_lee-
I'm not familiar with iTalk, but suggest you contact the program authors for advice.
Here is what I would try:  Connect your iPad to your computer and run iTunes.  Select the iPad under DEVICES and then select the Apps tab at the top of the iTunes window.  Scroll down and look for both versions of iTalk in the File Sharing Apps.
If you find them there, you should be able to transfer files from one to the other.  It may be necessary to select them in iTalk lite and "Save To" to your computer's desktop, and then "Add" them to the folder for iTalk premium.

Hard Drive:  The Hard Drive is on my camera (Sony Handycam)
Just needed some info on what is going on with your particular system.
Knowing the exact camera model will also assist us.
If this camera is standard AVCHD you should be able to connect with USB to Mac with FCE open and use Log and Transfer without all the fiddling around converting etc.
What FCE does during ingest is convert files to AIC. (Apple Intermediate Codec)
FCE cannot read the individual files in the BDMV folder, that's why all the converting is required when you use that method.
BTW: regards formatting drives/cards/memory on cameras; it is wise to use the actual device to format rather than a computer. This is a prime cause of read/write goof ups with solid state media. This applies to still or video cameras.
Keeping the COMPLETE card/memory structure in tact is vital for successful transfers.
Try here for some trouble shooting tips:

  • How do I transfer files from a Windows laptop to an iPad and ensure they are accessible please?

    Hello...
I am new to the Apple community and would be very grateful for some help. My Dad recently purchased an iPad. He is a professor and has his lectures saved on his Window laptop (predominantly PowerPoint, plus PDFs and Word files) but wants them on his iPad and needs to be able to access them all. He has mistaken me for some kind of computer whiz and thinks I'm able to do this; the truth is I haven't got a clue where to start.
Any idiot-proof advice and/or ideas on how best to transfer files from a Windows 7 laptop to iPad (including whatever apps, if any need to be bought) would be very greatly appreciated
    Thanks very much all

    Hi Julian,
Sorry for the delay in response, I didn't think many answers would come in so quickly being Christmas and all...
My Dad only needs to be able to access files for reference; any editing or alteration to pre-existing files would largely be done on a desktop or his laptop. In the meantime, Dropbox does look ideal and I will investigate along with the other great ideas suggested on here for the best option.
    Thanks very much...

  • How to transfer file from application server to presentation server in background?

    Hi Experts,
How to transfer file from application server to presentation server in background?
    Thanks in advance
    Namita

    Thanks Raman and Challa,
We want to move file from application server to Shared folder, not on local machine. We checked FM which you guys have provided but those are not able to read file from application server.
We need this program to run in background so that we can use this in daily process chain.
    Appreciate your inputs on this.
    Thanks,
