Am I able to upgrade to BT Infinity from Total Bro...

Okay so I've done a check, and I can supposedly get speeds of 28Mbit Down and 6Mbit up, and I am very interested in BT Infinity considering it's huge speed boost for only a few pounds more.
Right now, I'm paying about £25 for BT Total broadband, the unlimited option. My query is, am I able to upgrade to BT Infinity even though I haven't reached the end of the 18 month contract for Total (I'm probably a year into it)? If so, is the same contract continued with this upgraded service, or is it renewed. Would I get any incurring fees for the change?
Lastly, can someone give me a brief overview of what the Engineer does at your house during installation? Do they just alter the main socket, and does the router have to be situated at the main socket?
Thanks!

If your current wiring is suitable then they should just be able to switch the master socket faceplate and away you go in 20 mins, this however does not always happen as many people have wiring that is not in compliance with BT's standards e.g. no master socket, poor quality cable, location of master socket etc. the engineer will talk you through the options available for your situation and then you can decide what you want to be done. The equipment needs to be connected to the master socket or an extension cable known as a data extension, so the engineer can either relocate your master socket or install the data extension if your current master is not in a good place.
The 18 month contract would be renewed and it is currently £25.60 a month for unlimited infinity package. There are no fees for the change even if your still in a current contract

  • If I upgrade my BT Infinity, will I be able to dow...

I currently have Bt Infinity 1( with a BT phone line and calls). If I were to upgrade to Bt infinity 2, would I be able to call up the BT billing team and downgrade back to Infinity 1 at any time- say, 2 or 3 months later?

you would find that out when you try and downgrade.  it can't be the standard cancellation charges as you are not leaving BT just reducing your monthly cost.
try phoning the options team and ask 0800800030  it's free and they are uk based

  • Upgrade to BT Infinity deal not allowed?

    Hello all,
Just hoping to get some advice from anyone who will listen! I recently bought a standard BT Broadband package as I couldn't buy BT Infinity due to my new build flat not being on BT's system. I am since up and running with mt BT Broadband for two weeks and I am now trying to upgrade to BT Infinity with the Big BT Sale on, and I am being told I cannot take part in the sale as I am an existing customer?!
I would have bought BT Infinity in the big sale but it was BT who woulnd't let me do this! And I have now been told that I cannot cancel my contract unless I pay £300+ cancellation fee (fair enough as I agreed to the contract) but I would have thought BT would let me upgrade to the new deal as I had to order regular broadband first as per their instruction? Am I missing something here? BT seem to not care at all now that I am a "customer"....
If anyone could offer me advise on my legal standing it would be appreciated as I am considering going to Trading Standards if BT continue to refuse me the new customer deals.
*Also, SKY are offering 6 months free fibre connection so the Big BT Sale isn't as good as the competition it seems....

As per the small print in all BT packages, any deals only apply to new customers and not existing customers, regardless how long you have been a customer.
You would no doubt have been able to take part in any promotional offers regarding the package you did sign up to when you were a new customer.
You are correct about having to pay cancellation fees because it would be breaking a contract that you agreed to.
If you were unable to order BT Infinity previously because you were not on the system it is not a case of " BT wouldn't let you" it is more likely BT were unable to offer you Infinity for some reason. I'm pretty sure they would have been happy to sell you Infinity if it was available to you at that time.
As regards any legal advice I would suggest that you would need to speak to a solicitor regarding that as most of the advice on this forum is just that... "advice" with no legal standing.

  • I need to upgrade Snow Leopard to get icloud before my mobileme expires at the end of June.  If I buy Lion, will I be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion free when it comes out?  When is MLion going to be released in UK?

I am running Snow Leopard and have a Mobile Me account.  My Mobile Me account expires at the end of June.  I have been told that I will need to buy the Lion upgrade to run icloud on my imac, but I am aware that Lion is due to be replaced by Mountain Lion this summer.  I don't want to have to buy two up grades!  Will Mountain Lion be released before my mobile me account expires?  If not and I buy the Lion upgrade, will I be able to upgrade it to Mountain Lion, free, in view of the fact that I will only have had Lion for a very short time and could not avoid this purchase??????

    HI...
We have no way of knowing exactly when Mountain Lion will be released. Most likely, if you upgrade to Lion now you'll be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but the actual minimum requirements are unknown at this time.
Lion is only $29.99 plus any applicable taxes and fees and available from the App Store, or you can purchase the thumb drive > OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive - Apple Store
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space

  • How can i upgrade my BT Infinity so i no longer ge...

    Evening all,
I'm currently on (As its shown on my Bill) BT Infinity Option 2, which when i signed up for it in Oct 2012 was the 'unlimited' package and at the minute ive noticed i'm being Throttled from 4pm every day, now anyway i thought unlimited meant unlimited i.e. not being limited on what i download when and where.
Anyway.. i've found out through the powers that be, apparently a new service called BT Infinity 2 which is also unlimited, but on this service you don't get throttled. (Is this true so far??)
So i click on the upgrade my BT internet Tab, select the upgrade to BT Infinity 2 option, choose my account and it starts the search.
it comes back with, sorry the package you've selected isnt an option, please choose from the following options below Option 1 which is BT infinity 1 + Calls or option 2 which is Unlimited BT Infinity 2 + Calls....
Now first question, Why does it say the package isnt available then list the package below??
Anyway So i click on Unlimited BT infinity + Calls (Option 2) and it goes through as if i we're a new customer, and not just upgrading,?? Is this Normal,
All i want is Unlimited Infinity with no throttling!!!
    Thanks in Advance
    Gaz

    Afternoon all,
Well that wen't well, i phoned 150, got put through to Sales, a Scottish man called Craig, I told him i was on Unlimited Infinity and i want to upgrade to Totally Unlimited.. He basically said to me im on Unlimited and that you don't get throttling with unlimited.... so he told me to ring 08001114567 Which when i tried to do this it comes up with a nice voice message saying theres a major technical fault please call back later.
Now, If BT are having big problems and they are fixing it, i don't mind waiting and ringing tomorrow, but how is it the 'sales' guy said to me they dont throttle when they do!!, basically lied to me on the phone....
Is there anyone at BT who knows how i can 'upgrade' to get this throttling removed??
    Thanks in Advance
    Gaz

Currently I only really require Photoshop and Lightroom for my photography (£8.78) however within a year I will need the complete package (£15.88) so i can use Illustrator, premiere pro and after effects... so if i purchase the photography subscription with an annual commitment, would i be able to upgrade to the complete subscription in a few months? Paying the extra cost of course.

  • Hard Drive warning when upgrading to Mountain Lion. 2 try and I was able to upgrade. Software update for IPhoto, had problems restarting. Do I need my hard drive checked

Hard Drive warning when upgrading to Mountain Lion. 2nd try and I was able to upgrade. Software update for IPhoto, had problems restarting. Do I need my hard drive checked

    Yes.
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts.
When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
    Click Repair Disk.
If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done.
Otherwise, you may need to do one of the following steps.
If Disk Utility can’t repair your disk or it reports “The underlying task reported failure,” try to repair the disk or partition again. If that doesn’t work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat the disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and then restore your backed-up data.
If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced

  • I am using Leopard but need  Mountain Lion for the Mac App Store.  How do I get Snow Leopard to be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion?

I am currently using Leopard but need Snow Leopard to be able to get Mountain Lion. I can see this is no longer available from Apple.  How would I get it so I could then get Mountain Lion. I want the Logic 9 Mac App Store App as I don't want to have to buy the whole Logc 9 from Studio 8.
Some help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The price is $29.00 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
If you need to purchase Lion contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)

Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
