Am i Eligible for the logic board program?

My ibook falls into the serial numbers that are eligible for the free repair. But this line taken from the website confused me a little.
How long is the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program available?
The program covers affected iBooks for three years after the first retail sale of the unit or until 18 March 2005, whichever provides longer coverage for you. Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide further repair extensions as needed.
I purchased my ibook in the year 2002, am i stil eligible for the program? There are some lines on my ibook screen.

Not officially, no. A few people have successfully approached Apple Customer Relations, requesting that they make an exception to the three-year rule. However, I would suppose that the farther removed the iBook is from the three years, the less likely they are to make an exception to the rule. Yours is five years old (or nearly so). You can try calling Apple and requesting to speak with Customer Relations and ask them to make an exception to the three-year rule, but I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope. That said, you have nothing to lose by asking.
Good luck.

Our Pad 1 battery is dead. Apple offers battery replacement for $99. Do they replace with refurbished iPad1 or newer iPad?

All iPad models means all iPad models..... I copied the text below from this website.
    https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/battery-power/
Your Apple One Year Limited Warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery, and there is no charge if your iPad is covered under warranty or an AppleCare product. You can check your coverage by entering your iPad serial number.
    Out-of-warranty battery service cost:
    All iPad models: $99
Plus a $6.95 shipping fee. Fees are in USD and exclude local tax.

  • Ugh. I think it's the logic board but not sure.

It freezes, wont start up. i reinstalled tiger and it froze again. from what ive been reading from all the forums its the logic board. i dont think the ram has anything to do with it. i started it in safe mode and it froze again. i did the "shift + ctrl + option + command+ repeatedly simultaneously hitting power. then wait 5 seconds and hit power again," and sometimes it starts. anything else i can do before someone at the genius bar ignores me and tells me to get apple care?

It definitely sounds like the Logic Board. Check the serial number against the serial numbers that are vaild for the Logic Board Replacement Program and hope (if you have a God, pray to it) that your's is one of the ones within the range because, otherwise, it's gonna cost you roughly the price of a new macbook to get it fixed. If it's covered, it's free.
Mine, unfortunately, wasn't covered so I now have a rather expensive paperweight that I will be finished paying off next month.
    Yeah, I'm a little bitter...
    Good luck!

  • Do you think this is the logic board?

Ok, So I'm sitting in psychology and the computer freezes and the video becomes distorted (like the Photoshop wind filter) little lines going everywhere. I then held the power button and it shut down. Then I tried to boot it, but nothing.
Later it works OK, but do you think this is the logic board?
    Will it get worse?
And finally, Do you think I am eligible for a logic board replacement?
    Serial: UV3283xxxxx

Gah, Sorry forgot to mention in the message i have an ibook.
You didn't need to say that you have an iBook because it says it in your system configuration at the bottom of the screen I just thought that I'd mention my experience because it was a bit similar to yours.
I definately think that it is worth getting it checked out. Maybe just drop it off at an Apple store and ask them to do some tests on it to see if the logic board does have a problem. If you are eligable for the logic board replacement then it's definately worth looking into. Often, intermittent problems like this can turn into more serious ones like mine.
I personally would not leave it down to chance.
    Good luck

  • Am I still elligable to the logic board progam?

Bought an iBook G3 in 2002... But it seems to have decided to wait until now to show Logic Board problems... The serial number in right in the middle of the elligible ones... But it is more than 3 years old obviously... Does anybody knows if I will have to pay for the repair, and if yes how much??
    iBook G3 14''   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

My screen started having problems - opening up to a sky blue screen with no ability to work with it. A few days later it just stopped lighting up at all. It turns on and off. After reading the discussions here, I did check to see if my serial number fell within the range of serial numbers with the problem - and it did. (Read about that in another email.) I looked up the logic board replacement FAQs.
The first time I called Apple about the problem, the guy said that it would cost $745 at a minimum to get it fixed.
That answer didn't sound good, so I looked up these discussions and learned that people are still getting their ibooks repaired for free.
I called again and got a different person. I explained that my ibook fell in the right serial number range for the logic board replacement even though the deadline on the offer is supposedly over. I also told them that I'd just invested four hundred dollars in my iBook.
They asked me to wait, and five minutes later I was told a box would come for me to send my laptop back. I'm greatly relieved, but that was Sunday, and I still haven't gotten the box, so I hope it's not slipped through the cracks.

  • Advice for faulty logic board (early 2010 MBP)

So my logic board needs replaced.
I went to the Apple store and they told me as it is under warranty that they will replace it for free. Im not sure how its under warranty as its over 4 years old? Although I have heard that this issue is common and Apple are at fault for the logic board issue?
Anyway I get a call a couple of days later to say that as I swapped out my optical drive for an HDD that it has voided my warranty. They now say it is going to cost £416 to fix!
I just want some advice as to what people think I should do really. The laptop cost around £1800 when new but is probably not worth half of that now if it was in working order. Should I suck it up and pay the price? Should I sell the laptop for parts and buy a new model? Should I try another Apple store?
I was also considering swapping the optical drive back in and bringing it to another Apple store but are there records kept of my serial number etc. where they could still tell?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Buy a new computer or fix yours. Apple will provide no support for it since you voided the warranty.

Apple supports most of their computer products for a 7 year period, could be that your IBook is well past any kind of help.Secondly parts are no longer being made for this machine and never will be again. Finally I find it hard to believe that nothing has been done with this for 6 years.Have you documented the reasons why you were turned down for repairs ? were the replaced Ibooks within a couple of months of warranty expiration? What model is your IBook ? At least if we knew what the model #, some of the more techy types could find out if there were any repair programs for your model.
Seems odd that you'd hang on to a non-working IBook for that long.

  • Does anyone know what the second button is for on the logic board of an iMac G5 (PPC), 1st generation ?

One button on the logic board of a 1st generation iMac G5 (PPC) is an alternate power button. Does anyone know what the purpose of the other button is?

I am far from certain but I believe it is the power management unit (PMU) reset switch a/k/a Cuda switch: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1939
Do not press it when the computer is on.

  • My 2011 MacBook Pro does not start and stop after the apple appear, they said that the problem is a video problem and need to change the logic board. Cost almost same to buy a new one. Somebody have the same problem?

I have a MacBook Pro early 2011. Does not start. After the apple show, a blank screen appear. The service said that the problem is with the video plaquue in the logic board. Need to change. Cost lmmost the same than a new MacBook Pro. Somebody has the same problem? What we can do?

I hate to break this to you, but life isn't fair. If your job is that critically in need of a computer, then you should have a spare to use for just this kind of situation or have your employer provide you with a computer to use.
Computers break down, just like cars. If your car breaks down do you curse the car maker or get it fixed? Surely, you paid more for your car than the computer.
This is reality. Best get used to it because it won't get any better.

  • After replacing the logic board in my Macbook Pro it will no longer connect to the App Store.

I recently had to replace the logic board in my early 11 Macbook Pro (first gen i7).  With the release of Yosemite just a few weeks away I am trying to update from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks.  I'm afraid if I don't after this update it will become much harder.  I always lived by the rule if it ain't broke and for a long time Snow Leopard worked very well for what I needed to do.  All my software is current and there are no updates pending.  All my Keychain Access System Roots Certificates are good and I have no problems getting into iTunes.  I thought it might be something on Apples end but after 36 hours it's still the same problem.  When I try to open the App Store I get this:
Any ideas.  I don't use the App Store that much but until this I had never had this problem before.
    Thanks for the help.

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) and now my microphone is not working

I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) 3 days ago, I had a terrible experience as the genious who gave me my solid state disk for safekeeping lost my disk's brackets thus I had to wait 2 more hours until they find one after 10 days of waiting for the repair. I noticed some weird sounds, like somehting is moving with the mac 1-2 times, even if I have no mechanical parts other than the fans, but my real issue at the moment is that my microphone is not working. I can see the mic in the System Info however and in Audio Midi Setup. In the Audio Midi Setup I see that the master chanel is turned off and I can't turn in on. Ch 1 and 2 are on full. I also noticed the first seconds after the comp. boots the blue bar goes to the middle in the System Preferences -> Sound -> Input. Any ideas what to do or try? I do not want to go back to the apple store as it is 50 minutes away from here and I need my laptop as a computer science student. Everything else is working perfectly.

You need to call both the store that did the repair and Apple directly, warranty service or Apple care, and report this problem with both of them and get a ticket number of some kind (some kind of verification number) that the unit just came back from major service with this problem and that you want it fixed when you can lose the use of it, which is not right now.
Without doing something like that they could easily say it is damage not covered under the normal warranty.
God knows what the repair center did and did not do to it while it was there.
And depending on when you actually bought it the warranty could run out in the mean time.

  • I've got a mac pro problem with the starting up, but also a red light on the logic board solidly on. Its not among the diagnostic led. It's located near the BT adapter and the front fans. Also the fans run loud also. any solutions?

    Hi
I've got a mac pro late 2006, and i am having problem with it for quite a while now. the problem i am facing is the start up process, and the red light on the logic board. Earlier I've got the two led on the diagnostic leds 5 and 6 turned on without the diagnostic button being pressed, and i think those are related to the processors overtemp. I've managed to solve that by, removing the processors and re applying the thermal compound on the heatsink. what i have left now with is the red light on  the logic board at the time i plugged in the power. At the same time when this light come on, the power indicator at the front panel come on as well. i am not sure what is this light relates to. We've replace the power supply too, and gone through the SMC reset but seems no help.
Any idea on the problem? I am desperate about it, and i will be greatful if anyone can help..
thanks and hope for your best solutions
    Kari

I can't help directly with your problem but you might check here http://tim.id.au/laptops/apple/macpro/ for a service manual which could answer your question.
