Am I losing it? Address search with N8

Alright Guys and Girls,
I am really confused as to what I believe should be a very simple task on my N8. Im going to maps and simply trying to search an address for a home. However, to my surpise I only can search names with in the outline categories. Could someone please give me a hand as to how I put an address into this darn thing for driving directions?

I 'm using the first navigator phone of mine (c5-00) and have to say that Nokia engineers have done everything to get us customers very confused. I compared a few other Nokia phones before buying c5-00 and it looks like almost every model of Nokia has slightly different type of menus.
Perhaps the functions inside menus are similar between different models. I experienced similar problems with the user drtbikeril. The address search function is very weird in all respect. After a week or so I have not found out an easy way to simulate the route from point A to Point B with the navigation functions of the phone. Adding route points with search function appears pretty complicated, indeed.
On a sunny day, I may walk into a Nokia shop and ask salesmen there to show if N8 works better with navigation and is easier to use but I would not be very surprised if the similar kind of fuzzy logic comes with N8 too. Of course, the bigger size of screen and touch screen are making the user experience a lot better.

Sandpit and Dev give Address search with different results using Web UI

Using the Sandpit system I can perform a BP search on Street and enter the post code, but it still finds the right address. However, in our development sytsem it does not. The FM which performs the search is identical so I assume this would be down to some kind of address related config?. Can anyone enlighten me further as what could possible cause this?.

Okay. So, I asked the admin to create a scope for the list, which they did following the steps outlined in Ben Tedders article, and then I followed the steps in the rest of the article setting up the web parts. When I ran a search, it returned the no results
page. Not sure why, but I removed the scope from the Search Core Results web part, and the search returned usable data from the list.
Here's my part ii question - - how do I customize the Search Core Results web part to display the data from the search in manner that makes more sense than from a list of nondescript layout of,
Search Result
     Search Term ... dataField01 ... dataField02 ... dataField03 ... dataField04 ...
     author info
url info
to something a tad more informative, such as,
You search for Search Term, with the following results:
     Search Result
          dataField01 label ... dataField01
          dataField02 label ... dataField02
          dataField03 label ... dataField03
          dataField04 label ... dataField04
because nobody's really going to care who uploaded the list or want to link to the data pulled from the list in one of those columnar results tables.

How do i change the setting so that when i type something in the address bar, it searches with google. it's started using yahoo and i hate yahoo, i'm even considering leaving firefox

If you're running iOS 6, to change your iCloud ID go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.

I've contacted cox but they tell me the problem is on my computer. I've used three different anti virus/malware scanners to eliminate all the bugs they can find. You can undo your permission changes. Probably the most relevant one is cookies. Try one or both of these methods:
(1) Page Info > Permissions tab
While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Permissions
(2) about:permissions
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' and press Enter. Allow a few moments for the list on the left to populate, as this information needs to be extracted from a database.
Then type or paste ''rcn''' in the search box above the list to filter it to the most relevant domains. When you highlight a domain, you can adjust its permissions in the right pane.

How do I stop iSync from syncing address cards with no telephone mnumber ?

I sync my Nokia to my Mac using iSync 2.3. I used a smart group made from email domain names to sync with my phone. IN this group are a number of address cards with no telephone numbers. How can I either delete them automatically, or disallow them from being synced to my phone ?

First, make sure that iSync isn't running.
Then, choose "Go > Go to Folder..." in the Finder and copy and paste the following into the dialog box that appears:
/Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/P lugIns/Motorola-K1.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/
A window will open. Now, open the "PhoneConduit.plist" file in that window into TextEdit.
Do a search for "charsToKeep"
In the line below the one it finds it should read:
<string>0123456789+#*</string>
change it to:
<string>0123456789+#*p,</string>
(adding in the p and , characters) and save the file.
Quit and the reload iSync and sync. It will no longer strip the p and comma characters.
Apple obviously doesn't know that those characters can be accepted by the phone.

ColdFusion Search with Excel Sheet creation

I created a form search with two buttons - one for results on the web page and one to create an excel sheet.
Problem: When a user conducts a search with results on the web page - the user would have to select the criteria again then click the create excel button to create the sheet.
How can I work it, so the user after conducting a search can just click one button to create the excel sheet?
(Using "Post" for the form - will change to get if needed will your help)

Is it possible to have the Navigation Toolbar (or at least the pop-up Location Bar) show automatically when I open a (blank) new tab and be automatically hidden once I select an address/search?

I'm obviously aware of the possibility to show/hide the Navitation Toolbar manually, but I'd like to have it done automatically to get the best of screen space and navigation ease.

Thanks cor-el! I had tried that out, but was turned off by the different workflow (can't click Tab to select the address suggestions) and assumed by the look that I couldn't use my Smart Keywords for searches.
In fact, the workflow isn't that much bulkier and the Location Bar is fully functional:

HERE maps address search

Hi,
I have a lumia 620 and I'm experiencing the following problem since I bought the phone 1 year ago; the problem was not fixed by updates; I searched the forum and didn't find anything similar.
When I search for an address in HERE maps in offline mode (sometimes I'm also in flight mode, cellular off), after a couple of seconds that the search is ongoing I get a message dialog like "This may be taking a while..." so I press ok and the search stops. I have to repeat the search 2 or 3 times to finally get the results. It's like there is a timeout on the time the search takes, but a delay of some seconds is reasonable for such a big db search.
Same problem shows up in HERE drive+, especially if the address being searched is a remote street in a small town: I get the message "address not found search offline" or something similar then I press the search offline button and I get no results the same. As in the other case I have to repeat the search more times to get some results. This is very frustrating because it can happen that I don't know if the address is wrong or the search is broken, so I waste a lot of time repeating the search in the hope that something comes up (while I'm in the middle of the street). Is anyone experiencing the same problem ?

I have HERE maps, drive+ (I've read this is a premium app but I didn't pay for it ?), transit and city lens installed. Location is working even though sometimes I perform searches with location off but there is no difference in behaviour.
When I'll have some spare time, I'm gonna write down the steps to recreate the problem, but it happens almost every time I put an address. Don't you have the same problem ?
A way to minimize the problem is to wait sometime before hitting enter because the search is performed while you type...

Can't use certain keys in Global Address Search

When trying to run a Global Address Search that starts with a letter that's on the numeric keypad (E, R, T, D, etc.) I cannot get it to search by the letter. E.g., if I press "D" it searches for "4". Pressing the Option (aka Orange) key doesn't toggle it to alpha mode. I can search using letters that aren't on the numeric keypad just fine. And if I my search starts with a letter that's not on the numeric keypad (e.g. "L") I can choose either "D" or "4" as the next letter, e.g., if I press "D" I see "4". If I then press "L" the 4 changes do a "d" and the search shows "dl". But if I erase the "l" the "d" switches back to "4".
Bottom line: I can't choose "D" as the first character in my search. I have to launch Contacts, then search. I'm on WebOS 1.4.

Hello.
It really doesn't work that way. When you type "D", the phone shows a "4", but it searchs for "D". There is no way to distinguish when you want to make a call by number from when you want to search, so the phone gives you both options.
Try to enter a "Dave Martin" contact in your phone and search him by pressing "DL", "DA" or "MA".

How to default business purpose on address search page in Quoting

Greetings!
When I click on Select button on Shipping and Billing information tab on Quote Details page, it takes me to address search page with all the addresses regardless of business purpose I'm looking for. I would like it to be specific to the business purpose that I am searching address for, i.e., show me Bill To addresses or Ship To addresses only. I am able to select a value in Purpose field on address search page and search again, but can I default a value based on the Select button for Bill to or Ship to? How can I do that?

I just created my icloud account on my Mac- I already had it set up on my iphone. When I did this, it pulled my address book from my icloud but my address book On My Mac is most up to date. How can I replace my icloud address book with my Mac address book on my mac?

Go to users and groups and choose only your On My Mac Contacts to display.
Ensure that nothing is typed in the search field.
Click to select the first contact and shift-click the last to select them all.
Drag the list of contacts to your desktop.
Delete the contacts from Address Book (using your delete key).
Now choose only your iCloud Contacts to display
Ensure that nothing is typed in the search field.
Click to select the first contact and shift-click the last to select them all.

Make sure your iCloud account is your default account (preferences > general).
Select All iCloud contacts from users and groups.

How do I clear the Address Search Bar history?

Resetting Safari doesn't do anything to reset the Address Search.
The Reset is not designed to clear the URL prompts. As I mentioned, these prompts are fed from a number of sources. Short of eliminating your bookmarks, history etc. the prompts are here to stay. Clearing your history and cache ought to eliminate those prompts not associated with existing bookmarks, but that's only temporary. Also, there may be other sources feeding the prompts.
Space bar is by far the easiest (although not very convenient) way to avoid seeing the prompts.

Sync Address Book with Yahoo Address book?

Hi there,
just wondering if its possible to some how sync Address Book with Yahoo Address book?
That is... I have an elaborate Address Book setup on Yahoo, I'd like it so that if I use Yahoo Address Book and create/delete contacts that when I get home and use Address Book, Address Book syncs the contacts structure to the yahoo structure, without me manually intervening...
Is this possible or is there a tool/widget that does this already?

while looking for somehting else, i found something here in the discussions that might do the trick. it involves another web-based address book, but might work for you. try getting the plaxo address book plug-in, and then sync your yahoo contacts with plaxo, and then sync that with address book. i'm not sure of the order that would give you the best results, but i'm working on using plaxo as an online backup of my address book, as i will most-likely not be using plaxo otherwise.
my concern for you would be whether one would write over the other, so back up your address book first, or even export the entire thing as a vcard file to your desktop, and then you can re-import and merge them... that way you can sync with your yahoo account, and then add whatever is already in your address book and merge whatever is necessary.
search here in the discussions for the plaxo plug-in, and see if that sounds like it would work for you. the only issue i have right now is that it seems that the plaxo install has somehow affected my icalfix plug-in, but i'll look into fixing that this weekend, i'm sure i just need to move some plug-ins around.
