Am I missing something here? More Everything changes nothing.

After reviewing my options in the new More Everything plan it appears it changes nothing. I save nothing. If this is Verizon's answer to the ATT $160 10GB plan or T Mobiles new promotions it is weak. I don't get it. I was waiting to see what Verizon's response would be in the hope I could stay at Verizon and save a few bucks on my bill. They have taken essentially the same plan as always and just renamed it. Again, am I missing something here?

Why don't you compare apples to apples? At&t $160 10 GB is assuming you are using 4 smartphones and requires you to either use their Next plan or pay full price up front. Verizon's 4 lines 10 GB Edge plan is $180 a month. So Yes Verizon is $20 more per month, but it's not THAT much more than At&t.

I then went into my calendar to find how it was displayed and nothing was there.
OK I thought I'll add it in calendar and only found a setting for meeting, memo and anniversary.

iCloud backup automatically saves your pictures, but you only get 5GB. What i'd reccomend is that you put those pics on flickr or Facebook, so you can access them anywhere, and i know at least facebook has auto upload as an option, so that any time you take a picture, it saves it to that.
Goals: Choose FB, Dropbox, Picasa, or Flickr, then enable auto upload.
In settings-icloud-storage and backup, deselect camera roll.
End result: Photos available anywhere, backed up safely, and your phone backs up.

Am i missing something here? I want to save files on my iMac and have them available on my iPad without having to manually upload or drag and drop to iWork on iCloud through Safari - can this be done?

Thank you - I asked the question in an Apple Store yesterday and they told me that as long as I had Documents and Data selected (iCloud, System Preferences) I could store files on my mac and they'd automatically appear on iCloud for sussequent editing on my iPad. I made it clear I was interested in iWork files not just photos or music.......so I guess they were incorrect! I'll await Mountain Lion - many thanks.

Restoring phone from icloud?? am I missing something here...

I recently restored my iphone and everythign is now wipped from it.
I went to make a phone call today and was like, oh right, I wiped it out but then thought of the icloud backup I have. How do I restore my contacts or anything from icloud.
there is nothing on the website about restoring to the phone, I went into itunes but that did not really have anything about restoring the phone other than re-doing what I just did.
Did I miss something in the restore process that says "click here to restore from cloud"?

I'm missing something here

I have tried and tried to understand why this is not working, and I'm just not getting it. I have a situation where in order to complete a string I need to multiply two doubles, and I see posts that say that it is not possible, immediately followed by others that say it is possible. I have been a Creative fan for a long time, and my latest Creative purchase is a Zen V Plus 8Gb. And very nice it is too. However, what's going on with the software ? I don't get it, my MP3 player software (MediaSource 5) can't RIP in MP3 format, just WMA ? It's got a nice link undeath that says if you want MP3 click here to buy it for an extra $0. I'm stunned, having just paid ?50 for?an MP3?player, not a Windows Media Player. I know it's all kind of similar, but the bottom line is my music collection is MP3, I have MP3 Tag Editors I like, etc, and older devices that don't play WMA. The other annoying thing with the software, MediaSource 5, is that it installs along side MediaSource 3 rather than upgrade it. I have a Creative Audigy ZS Pro with Creative Gigaworks 7. Speakers on my PC which seems to needs MediaSource 3 for the SB Remote control to work, and to adjust sound/speaker settings. Using the creative Software Autoupdate tells me I need to keep and update both MediaSource 3 & 5 on my PC to use both my creative products. I'm not sure who's co-ordinting the creative software/hardware products but right now it seems to me to be a disasterous mess, which is especially anonying as I chose my Creative MP3 player so that I had just software suite for managing my music collection. I have an lg smart TV. I also just bought an apple ipad air,Wi-Fi Cellular 16GM I've signed up the air to itunes and just purchased a movie on the ipad air. I was able to stream the movie on my air and my pc, which is of course wirelessly connected to my smart TV. I've searched the 'Home' screen of the lg to find a way to also stream that movie on the lg. Am I somehow just not reading right and missing the point, or is what I'm trying to do not possible?

What is especially interesting about your post is that you had your iPad Air replaced in November 2014 in the UK. I bought my iPad Air originally in October 2014, and had to have it replaced in an Apple Store in Bristol in November after the original stopped charging. This does make me wonder if there is a batch of faulty iPads? Mmm...
I have raised a fully escalated support case with Apple on this, and their latest response is that a 'patch' or fix is being investigated by their engineers and to wait a week or so at which point they might be releasing it to affected users - or even across every users.
I wish there was a way to get this to Apple's attention and the wider media as well, but I don't know how best to do that.
I guess the best thing we can do is keep hassling Apple for a response and raising support cases

I recently purchased a Macbook Air running OS X 10.6.8 and am having trouble importing my Itunes library from an external harddrive. I have itunes 10.5.1 and my itunes media folder is empty, meaning I have zero songs listed in itunes right now. My Mac harddrive is only 120 gbs, which I do not want to load up with any of the music on the 500 gb external. Therefore, what I would like to do is import all the music off of my external into my itunes without having any of those files saved to my Mac. I have read through several forums and even watched a few tutorials on youtube to try to figure this out but I have had no luck so far.
Here are my questions:
1. The music that is on my external has all been saved using itunes, however it is not saved under a folder named "itunes"... it is saved in a folder named "music". So, should i change the folder name to itunes or do I have to actually save the itunes program onto my external? The reason I ask this is because I tried using the import approach of itunes>preferences>advanced>itunes media folder location... and changing that to the music folder on my external and had no luck.
2. Since this is 500gbs of music, I have never been able to load all of these songs into a single itunes library at one time because I have never had a harddrive big enough to do that. I had a huge cd collection that I used itunes to rip the music from and at one time they went into the same itunes media folder but to save harddrive space I would transfer them to the external regularly. Does this matter?
I realize this is quite the earful, so if I didn't lose you please tell me what I am missing!!

Cocoa and mysql -am I missing something here??

Can Cocoa be used to create apps that can access mysql with the framework provided by apple's developer tools or does one need something else?
A curious beginner with emphasis on beginner

The source code for MySQL should come with lots of examples for writing clients. The documenation has all the functions you will need. It has been a few years since I worked on a MySQL client in C. Keep in mind, this is only one way to do it. There are easily 50 or 60 different ways to talk to MySQL. I'll give you a "stream of consciousness" answer...
So, if I wanted to re-learn MySQL, the first thing I would do is look for a connect function. The docs have an example:<pre>

As long as I'm here, I may as well put in a disconnect. Hmm, there is no disconnect, but there is a mysql_close() function. It is so simple they don't provide an example.
Next I want to do some query. Again, this function is simple there is no example. It is just <pre>int mysql_query(MYSQL *mysql, const char *query)</pre>. I already know how to construct a SQL statement so that is no big deal. I still need to figure out how to get data out of my query...
This one looks a little harder. The function "mysqlstoreresult" looks promising. The docs say this returns the entire set of results for a query. There is another function "mysqluseresult" that deals with results one record at a time. I guess that would be useful for large data sets.
Now I that I have the results, I need some function to do something with it. I found "my_ulonglong mysqlnum_rows(MYSQLRES *result)." That looks pretty easy. But I don't just want a count. I want the actual data. What about "mysqlnumfields"?

And at this point, I'm starting to lose interest. But I think that is a pretty good start. It looks like there are about 70 functions to use. You will need no more than 15 of them. Just remember to disconnect when you are done. Remember to call "mysqlfreeresult". Just take it one step at a time.

How can I simply send audio messages via text, not just to people who have iphones, even basic Nokia phones allow this function? Am I missing something here? IPHONE 6

Also how can you BULK DELETE Emails, I get hundreds of junk ones per day, and simply want to go, Select ALL or SELECT ALL READ and then press DELETE ONCE not hundreds of times????

No, basic Nokia phones do not, and have never had a function to easily send audio messages universally. SMS is a carrier feature and uses a very basic transfer mechanism and works only for short, 160-character messages. Through software, some phones later allowed you to type longer messages that the device then broke up seamlessly and sent as multiple SMS messages. MMS is another carrier service developed to be able to transport multimedia like audio and pictures. Again, very basic transfer and usually slow and low quality. Both of these are again, operator services. Your iPhone can send those messages to non-iPhone users using standard carrier services.
On the other hand, your iPhone Messages app uses your iPhone data plan - not unlike your home Internet service - to transfer audio, video and images through Apple's iMessage service. Other services exist that do something similar - WhatsApp for example - which also requires both the sender and recipient to use their app for the service to work.
As for email, Meg is correct. Your email provider is the first line of defense against spam. You should adjust your filters. That said, iOS Mail app had a delete all function, but not in places where it can do more harm than good - i.e. the Inbox. It is present only in the Junk and Trash folders where, presumably, your email provider or you have already been through some decision making process and deemed those emails acceptable to be deleted en masse.

[845 Series] 845PE and SATA DVD Burner, am I missing something here?

I seem to be finding a lot of people with issues regarding Plextor SATA drives, but I may just not have the right mobo to do what I want, maybe someone can help me figure this out.
Here are my basic specs:
845PE Max2 mobo
3 HDD(Don't think brand/capacity matters here)
1 DVD ROM drive
I have 2 of my HDD hooked up to my Primary IDE channel, and the DVD ROM hooked up to my Secondary IDE channel, and I have the third HDD hooked up to the extra IDE channel set up for RAID on this motherboard, but when I hook up the Plextor burner to my SATA channel 1, it doesn't show up ANYWHERE.
Here are my questions:
Can I use an optical SATA drive with this board, or will it only work with HDD's?
If I CAN use an optical drive, are the SATA channels hooked up somehow with the third IDE channel (In other words, is the fact that I have an IDE drive already on the third channel negating the SATA channels in the firsat place?)?
If the HDD IS what is causing the SATA drive not to show up, will moving it to the slave position on my Secondary IDE channel fix this, and if so, will my drive letter change?
I sure hope this isn't covered somewhere else in the forums, but I really didn't see MY exact problem anywhere.
I appreciate any and all help that you folks can provide!

Your MOBO does not seem to be on the list as compatible with SATA Plextor optical drives. Of course, you could use a PCI card (SATA) in your machine.

Grouping whole albums/CD's (am I missing something here)

My problem is this.
I want to group whole ALBUMS/CD'S by category--MY categories.
Clicking the Genre column to sort does work for "Classical" ( a one-genre group), but in my current tunes, the Genre's are too diverse--and weird. I have a favorite hard rock that is flagged "Dance"--it just won't sort by Genre into the right group.
Is there way to create SUB groups under "Music" where WHOLE ALBUMS can be browsed with the "flow" album art icons: Class, Rap, Pop, etc.--not tied to Genre.
The folders and Playlists only contain tunes, as I see it now. I'm a novice at this, but building a iTune collection fast, and about to move to a new iPod Touch.
I need some order here, to get what I want easily.

I think I've answered my own question-with a little more chutzpah= SMART Playlists, a perfectly programable, tunable list--that keeps on giving (or gathering--"set it and forget it")
So, #1, typical newcomer jerk error--"moving to fast".
I never bothered to figure out what a Smart Playlist was, OR when I read it, I didn't see how it could work for me, sheer disconnect. Infomation overload. "Babe in the woods" syndrome
#2. less egregious error, I didn't pick up everyone of the new features in Verision 7 right off, or press beyond the DEFAULT settings.
I was troubled that I couldn't browse by album art as in MUSIC. Well, that's the Default view in Music.
The default view in Playlist is "plain vanilla" -- just tunes.
So a little INTELLIGENT poking around did the trick.
End of discussion. I think I'm good to go, and more impressed than ever with this brilliant, wizardy, visually gorgeous, supremely helpful "toy" ("tool" to you guys with the green eye shades).

Podcasting. am i missing something here? please help.

I'm a little confused with how to podcast. I have some videos that I have made in Final Cut Pro and exported to Ipod files that are sitting on my desktop. How do I podcast them. I have read the info on How to Podcast and am stumped on these RSS feed links. Do podcasts work like "youtube" or do I need to set up a website to put them on to have a URL?
Am I going about this the wrong way.
Please let me know if I can podcast my video's from the desktop of my Mac.
