Am I the Only One Feeling Let Down by Creati

I personally believe that I'm not the only one let down by Creative's recent products and support. I was the guy who'd always go around telling other people "Why get an iPod? Everyone has one, they use proprietary connectors for everything, the battery life sucks, and you get to twiddle your thumbs clockwise and counterclockwise as you go up and down."
But not anymore.
And no I'm not talking about boycotting apple here, I'm talking about Creative.
I'll start off by providing a little background information about myself. I've always been heavily into music and movies. My computer consists of a Soundblaster Audigy 2 soundcard, and 600gb of RAID 0 hard dri've space. All used for games, music, and movies.
I always loved my Soundblaster cards, even my Soundblaster li've. Then someone showed me something amazing, a 30Gb Creative MP3 player. I think it was the Zen Ztra, I'm not sure, it was a long time ago. Soon as I saw that baby I fell in love with it. It had just 0Gb less than the harddri've of the computer I owned at the time, the sound quality was amazing, and it was very easy to use.
A good time after that, I decided to finally buy an MP3 player of my own after using a Sony ATRAC3 plus CD player for so long for my music. I went to the store and the only thing I could think of was that it had to be a Creative MP3 player. That day I ended up shelling out about 400 bucks for a 20gb Creative Zen Touch. I was wishing I found the 40gb version after that but for the amount of music I had at the time it worked very well.
I think I owned that MP3 player for at leas 2 years or so without any problems or freezes before someone finally stole it from me. I guess that's what I get for lending it to my girlfriend but thats a different story. She agreed to buy me a new one right away. I Think she knew how much I loved creative products at the time (and how much I hated iPods) that she decided to get me a Creative MP3 player of course. She ended up getting one that I was looking at online for quite a while. The Creative Zen Vision: M, the 60gb model.
I was a little disappointed that the battery life was nowhere near as impressi've as my old MP3 player, but with 60Gb, a gorgeous color screen, video playback, a better touchpad than the iPod (In my own opinion), and better battery life than an iPod (actual fact), I couldn't find much else not to like.
Of course, in less than a week I started getting nothing but problems.
While I was away on a trip the MP3 player froze twice. I had to stop at a nearby store to borrow a paperclip to reset it. The second time it froze was when the battery was getting low. After I reset it again the next screen showed "Low Battery" so I shut it off. I guess Creative thinks that everyone likes to carry a desktop computer with them when they go on trips, or that they've added enough problems to the player that they wont use up all the power till they get back. The only way you can charge it without a computer is by buying a battery charger separately, something which was included in a lot of earlier products.
Not being able to find a "Creative" charger, I bought one designed to charge any USB device. I plugged it in, and all I got was a flashing blue light for 24 hours, which was when I finally decided to call it quits. No matter what I did it wouldn't turn on, the reset button did nothing, and all I got was a flashing blue light.
I get home a few days later (without any good music to listen to on the way home) and plug it into my PC and get the same problem. All of this after the recommended firmware update mind you.
I decided to do some reading on the creative forums to try and solve a problem the majority of Zen Vision and other product owners are experiencing. All I found in the forums was a large group of disappointed individuals. The only posts made by Creative staff were regarding refraining from dropping F bombs. Apparently you even have to pay for tech support?! Is this some kind of sick joke?
The message I'm getting from this is that creative is purposely making defecti've products, not only to save money, but also make money from all the people needing tech support.
It wouldn't surprise me if this post was deleted simply because Creative doesn't like having to face facts. Anyways, sorry for the long post, but I felt it necessary to help vent out my frustration with a company I always looked up to.
After this experience, I will be refraining from buying any more Creative products until they clean up their problems. I'd like to hear from other people as well. I'll be boycotting this company, who's with me?

I've never had any problems with mine ever. The only freeze I've had was from a file I recorded on tivo, cut commericals out in movie maker and then re-encoded to the lowest possible bit rate that that zens nati've resolution supports. Try turning your sensitivity in the touch pad down. Sometimes if you have it up to high you may have a chance of doing that (although I have only had slow response, instead of a freeze by doing that).
You also have to compare to all of the other products out there: Ipod and Zune are a lot worse with pathetic little problems (annoyances). I didn't pay for tech support?

  • Am I the only one feeling stupid?

I just got my brand new laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed.  Everything is brand new with some impressing specs. Hmmm.
I am attempting to download my copy of Acrobat Reader without sucess.
    1.  I have installed this on my previous pc and subsequently uninstalled it because I only use my new PC now.  Does it matter that I have downloaded it before?
    2.  After logging on to my account, the download is still available to be downloaded via the download manager.  I follow all the correct steps and a window pops up that says download starting... Nothing happens.  After having spent hours looking up troubleshooting solutions, I disabled every bit of protection to help with the download process.....Still nothing.
    Can anyone please help me?

The iBook does not have a backup (PRAM) battery. It only has the main battery and a small capacitor which maintains the settings long enough to do a battery swap. If the battery is dead, what you are seeing can happen.
If the battery is not a problem (or even if it is), you could try resetting the PMU and see if that helps.

  • Am I the only one that thinks iTunes slows everything down?

Maybe my computer is just very slow, but I feel like itunes is terrible in terms of memory usage. Every time I start it, it takes forever to boot and slows everything else down. Even if my computer is slow, this is a fault in the program as others don't have this effect... Anyone have feedback?

There's not much in iTunes that would slow the boot process of your computer, since the support processes (Mobile Device Support and Bonjour are the only ones I can think of that start at boot, though I may be forgetting one or two others) that iTunes uses don't start until late in the boot process. So I doubt that all your performance problems stem from iTunes. But you can try uninstalling iTunes - it shouldn't remove your content, but make sure you have a good backup just in case something goes wrong - and see if matters improve. That way you'll know for sure. Alternatively you can try just stopping, or uninstalling, the background processes and see if that makes any difference.
Another possibility is your system's security software, which might be blocking or delaying the launch of some components.
FWIW, I haven't seen any change in the performance of either my Windows XP nor Windows 7 systems after installation of iTunes.
    Regards.

  • I consider release 28 the last of the good releases. Am I the only one that feels this way or are there others?

Release 28 was the last version that allowed us to add toolbars, put icons on new and old toolbars and truly customizing the browsers for our use. Other things like separate the search window and the URL window of different toolbars to make the use faster.
Sooner or later, I know I will have to upgrade if this "dumbing down" continues, or try to find another browser but I have been on this browser almost since I left Netscape and started using Firefox many, many years ago.
Most I know hate Google, Chrome for its "clean" look, that is, removing options and hiding command icons so we have to hunt for them. But, it looks like the developers of FF used to work on IE or Chrome as now I can not tell much difference. What you can see is way TOO simple and hidden.
Am I alone in this feeling of FF going in the wrong direction? The other browsers have "dumbed" down theirs for the novice or people that use only email but not the serious users like the FF user.
IF I am the only one, then I will go away and try to keep up with these "dumbed down", clean, blank, versions.

This is a support forum, designed to provide one-on-one help with specific questions.
You certainly are not the only person who likes various aspects of the earlier user interface, as you can tell from the popularity of the Classic Theme Restorer extension. If you haven't already explored it, you can learn more about it in this article: [[How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox]].

  • Am I the only one who keept turning down Infinity?

With all the posts on these forums from people complaining that the Infinity roll-out in their area has been delayed again, I wonder if I'm the only one who repeatedly turns down BT's offers to upgrade to Infinity?
The trouble is that I re-contracted earlier this year to get a better deal on my broadband and phone.  In addition to tweaking the package I was on, BT gave me a £6 per month discount on every bill.
At the time, I didn't consider that Infinity was likely to arrive on my exchange any time soon, because it's a small edge-of-town one, and not even upgraded to 21CN yet.  Nevertheless, while BT Wholesale have dithered over upgrading the exchange to ADSL2/2+, Openreach have been busily laying fibre and upgrading cabinets.  So my exchange now has Infinity, but only 8M ADSL.
I've now had three phone calls from BT salespeople, in addition to the letters and emails, all trying to sell me Infinity.  And all expect me to pay the full price with no discount.
Quite frankly, I don't really need more than 8M at the moment, and I'd rather keep the discount.  With any luck, the exchange will be upgraded at the end of this year (it's due to be done in December), so I may be getting close to 20M anyway by the time renewal comes around.

For years my average download speed was approx` 5Mb to 6Mb. Then unexpectedly a few weeks back whilst doing a random BT-Speed Test I was surprised (nicely surprised) to find that my connection speed was up to 19Mb and my new download speed was nearly 17Mb. I`d no emails from Bt. The exchange where I live is not in line for infinity for years (according to the engineer I spoke to who works there). But with the connection/download speed I have now, I`m not bothered, plus the new negotiated contract with BT (which runs for another six months yet) I`m a very happy chappy

Am I the only one who gets exited out of everything on my iPhone?! I will open up Instagram and not even 2 minutes later it will close down. How do I fix this?! It's so annoying.

I will assume you are using a slower iPhone 4 on iOS 7 if you are experiencing such problems so frequently. You might already be trying this, but my first suggestion would be to double tap the home button and see what you have running. You might not be quitting any of the apps you open. To stop an app from running and slowing down your phone, after double-tapping, slide the preview cards up for apps you don't need to run.

  • Am I the only one who likes iOS 6?

No issues at all with wireless connectivity, I hardly ever used the YouTube app, I kind of like the new maps app, no change in battery depletion rate, and I enjoy all the other tweaks. Love having Siri on my iPad. The only thing to complain about is the change in the way the apostrophe and quote mark short cuts work.
Am I the only one who didn't have any issues upgrading and likes the new OS?

I was very happy with iOS 6...  Until I started using it.  On iPhone 4S and iPad 2 - nothing but problems. App Store, notification center, iMessage and safari all buggy.  Notification center just disappears on 4s. Just not there.  I restart it, fine for awhile, and then gone again. Msgs are all messed up. Freezes up, get wierd duplicate screen that freezes in place, and the scrolling is behind it, so can't read msgs. Restart app doesn't fix, but restart phone does. But then it happens again.  Links in mail starts to open safari page, then gets stuck.  Things that were previously clickable no longer are (that one is weird). Hangs, Wally really slow loading (and I am on 100mb down). It no longer wants to play nice with my atv3 either (but then again my atv3 has always been junk, my two atv2's have been flawless).   App Store ***** now - cant read any reviews other than the first three or four it shows (and what happened to sorting the reviews?!?!?). Hangs, freezes.vvhate that podcasts were removed from music app, personally. Wat happened to my 30 sec rewind in music?!?!?  Yu take away my music rewind but add a 10 sec rewind to podcasts!?  Dumb. And the podcast app is wonky.  But it has been since intro.
Nope. 6 is not polished. At all. It feels like a Microsoft release really. Rushed, great ideas with terrible carry thru.
    Why apple, why?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • HT4993 i been having sim card problems with my iphone 5. am i the only one?

i been having sim card problems with my iphone 5. am i the only one?

    Hello,
I'm also had problems with Iphone 5 , it read no sim card, i solved problem by removing sim card and cleaning with alcohol and q-tip and installing back.
    Shut down phone.
On the side of phone , you will see a small pin hole, insert paper clip and sim card will come out, be careful to do it over a clean towel as not to let drop on floor, make sure your hands clean while doing this.
Insert sims card back and turn on, it should work again.
    Good Luck.

  • Am I the only one with these various problems...??

    Hi all,
I start my first post and introduction ever on this forum with a imposing problem with Aperture 3.03
I just did the upgrade to Aperture 3 & 3.03. Coming off Aperture 2, I was able to rotate, crop and do all the things I wanted by just placing the pointer while clicking, holding, and moving all at the same time with no issues. With Aperture 3.03, no such luck. I've noticed that now if I want to rotate an image or even crop an image the first effort to move anything is ignored. It shows all the signs of being ready to move something, but nothing happens, nothing moves on first try. If I stop the click and place click the second time it is responsive as usual....What gives???
Here is another issue. Cropping is all over the place and never right on the first try. Even if I have a set aspect ratio it does not provide me with the one I selected. I'm always getting the wrong aspect ratio even though the right one is selected. If I pick "Master Aspect Ratio", I get a variable ratio instead of a fixed ratio??? If I click again it changes again. This program is not stable!!
One other thing has anyone noticed that you cannot use the arrow keys to move from one picture to another after editing the photo?? It is happening to me. If I complete an edit and want to move to the next photo, the program will not respond to key commands in any way. I'm forced to return to Browser mode and even then it seems hit or miss whether is responds to key commands again. navigating seems to be a big impediment when actively editing.
So, am I the only one with these problems???
    Lets hear your story...
Note: just installed the newest stability update for Snow Leopard/Aperture 3 just made available on August 18, 2010. No change...

I don't see any of these issues! You have listed several, disconnected issues. Perhaps you should pick one of them, and give us a blow-by-blow of your action steps.
For rotation, click that button at the bottom of the View window, and then use one of the [ or ] bracket keys as listed for direction.

  • Why is 1080i the only one that works for my slideshow.

Well... I'm getting to my breaking point.
    First my system.. Mac Pro 2.66 2x300gb raid 0. x1900 ACD 30
    5gb Ram
I have read many many posts.. but I still need your help.
I have found that the only thing that gives me a marketable slideshow in terms of quality images is to make a slideshow in imovie under 1080i.
The problem with this is that it really really slows my computer down, and I don't want to do this with a slide show of about 150 images per client, and then have wait more for transistions.
    Shouldn't I start a new slideshow in "DV" setting for a 4x3?
I have tried reducing res from 10.2 mp to a 1024x??? settting for images (depending on orientation). All I seem to lose here is a bit of sharpening as I reduce the image resolution, which makes sense if I understand correctly.
So... Where to go from here.
I read the posts.. and have determined that I can use Photo to move (which I have) to make clips and import them into Imovie. Again, a slow process as each clip has to be done seperatly. Is there another way with PTM, because it does render the best Ken burns effect I have seen. Again 150 images is too long to wait to make a slide show of a wedding, not cost effective for me.
    Hope someone can help.

    Anyone??
When I make a movie in 1080 or 720.. it takes alot of resources and slows things down.
Just wondering why choosing those options are the only ones that seem to work
I really need to get it into 4x3 format too.

  • HD slideshow is the only one that works for me.. WHY??

I have a new mac pro with lots of hd and ram 5GB.. so I don't think its my system.
What I need to know is that I can make an acceptable slideshow if
    1) I lower the resolution of my photos from 3884x2600 to about 1024x1024
    2) I create a imovie 720hd or 1080i HD.
ANY other format creates a lousy final picture quality when viewed on the TV. I get a shimmering, but not so noticible jaggies as some have posted. If I keep the photo still and not use KB.. the still images are ok, but not fantastic. The KB kills them. This seems opposite of what I have read of the bug in imovie6.
Can anyone explain why if I use the HD formats for Imovie the photos turn out ok?
I would like to keep them in a 4x3 format but can't if I use the HD formats. Is there a way to make it 4x3 after?
Anyway.. I have done a lot of testing and this is the best I can get so far.

  • 3 out 4 isn't bad, the 4th one is shutting down

I just got 4 822's Friday. 3 of them work fine, the 4th one is
shutting down. So we have been doing the pull the battery routine.
I called customer service on Sunday. They were very helpful,
said we have to do a full software reload as the first step, if this does not
work call us back and we will ship you a new phone. Very professional and I
    felt good after the call.
I called today, because the software reload did not fix the
issue. A different Verizon answered. The Verizon "customer service" I
got today was up sale central. Can some logic be applied to your phone scripts?
If I just upgraded everything 4 days ago, do you really think I want again so soon?
Also if I am calling back on a repeat issue, do you feel I will be in the mood
to listen to the sales pitch? After today's call, I am frustrated and concerned
that there will be mistakes made in which phone I need replaced and if they
    made changes to my account.
After saying no every way I know how, they finally decided to
send me a replacement phone. Hopefully this one will be like the other 3.

Hi Michael! Thanks for the reply
I live in Norway, and the phone has been either provided by a Norwegian carrier, or bought unlocked from the Norwegian Apple Store. You can check yourself by going to Settings-General-About-Model and type the model number (MC133KN in my case) here: http://iphonefrom.com/en/MC133KN  But it`s unlocked, I placed a Lebara SIM in it and it works perfectly.
If it has been carrier-locked then most(if not all) Norwegian carriers are selling the phones on a 12 months subscription contract. When the 12 months are up, the phone is being unlocked by the carrier either automatically, or upon customer`s request(depends which carrier you use).
It`s good to hear that your 3GS works well with the iOS 6, still after having read about issues after upgrade I have a feel that the upgrade to iOS 6 may be a hit or miss.
I read on a forum that early iPhones can only support 3 major upgrades. Can that be true?
