Am I the only one having significant issues with battery life on the iphone5?

I purchased an iPhone5 at the end of June 2013. Ever since I downloaded iOS7 I have been having battery issues. This past Friday the issues got worse. On Monday night (1/6/14) my phone unexpectedly shut off 22 times according to an Apple rep. My phone was replaced yesterday and I'm still having significant issues. My battery drops somewhere between 2 and 5% if I simply unlock the phone. I went over every possible setting with an Apple rep tonight to make sure my settings are making my phone as efficient as possible. All apple reps are telling me is that I can replace the phone yet again or I can do ANOTHER factory reset. I refuse to deal with this company because it's been 3 days and 14 hours. Has anyone experienced this with their iPhone5 because if I have to call another apple rep I'm gonna flip out.

So now 12 days later and another replacement I'm still having issues and apple still isn't helping. My phone has started shutting off unexpectedly again today. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here?

    Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
    A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
    I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
    What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
    Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
    Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
    I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • Am I the only one having a problem with the latest network manager?

    I mean, it's working, but once in a while it slows down heavily after a longer suspend-resume cycle. As in, it takes about half a minute before it even starts scanning. It started after the update yesterday or the day before. The systemd journal doesn't list any problems. I know how to setup wpa_supplicant manually and have used that kind of setup for a long time, I'm just wondering if this is a bug that needs tracking down.

    I have no issues with suspend-resume cycle with networkmanager.

    Here is another to add to TheMaxxMann. Did that person have an iphone at one time and did they change to another phone? If so then they need to go into their profile on apple's website and delete the phone from their profile so imessage will not be active anymore.
    Have your friend go to this website if they no longer have an iphone.

    If they do or they got a replacement phone then they may have to update their product serial number there.

    This is the reason why I have come on to the forum to get advice. I have had the flashing green screen and picture jumps and freezes but the sound quality doesn't seem to be affected. I also get a solid green screen.
    Coincidently I am also on virgin media broadband, but I don't see why this is the cause of the problem.

    newbie to this forum but not to apple devices.
    my big brother gave me his MacBook Air about 2 months ago. he bought it in august of 2009. when i got it, it ran Windows 7 (dont ask me why that what he wanted). i did update to the system and installed snow leopard etc...
    after install the iStat pro i noticed that the battery is in good condition, 93%. i thought he ruined the battery cause he always plugs his laptops/netbooks to a power source.
    i dont understand why but in the first month i had 90%-92% health, and in the past few weeks it went down to 88%-90% and a few days ago it was 86%. today i went to school and when i opened my mac the battery health os on 84%!
    i really dont understand why.
    i follow the instructions and wait until the battery is empty, recharge to 100% and again waiting... etc... there is no overuse and when im home i usually work on my stationary computer.
    the computer overall is in great shape, i dont understand the problem maybe one of you guys can help a brother out...

    How can you possibly say no one has complained or had similar issues with this phone when I come to this site to discover that hundreds of people have posted complaints?  I have had major issues with my LG revolution since I have got it and have constantly been told it is a software issue and the next software update will fix it, guess what no software upgrade has ever fixed any issue.  Freezing up, random restarts, never receiving/sending some text messages, claiming it must just be my phone when everyone I know with this phone has issues, short battery life, just to name a few issues and then when I call to say I want a different phone because this phone is not acceptable I receive RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
    As my family has been loyal Verizon customers for many years this is blatantly not acceptable.  These are issues I have never had with any other phone from your provider and now all of a sudden this particular phone will not send texts and not receive others intermittently?  This is a service issue and a device issue!  I don't care how you fix it, but I want it fixed!  Before a service rep reply's to this saying "download the newest software as LG has addressed the issues in it", I have and (surprise) it did not fix anything!  As a loyal customer for many years I want a phone that works.  When my alarm doesn't go off because my phone is frozen causing me to miss class or work that's an issue.  Before you tell me well it may just be your individual phone why don't you look through this forum at the number of people that are having the SAME issues on their 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th phones!  I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER LG REVOLUTION I NEED A PHONE THAT IS RELIABLE.  I spent a large amount of money on this phone expecting it to be a reliable cell phone, this is not what I expected.  Every time I have gone to Verizon to get my phone fixed or traded in I am told that they need to see the issue occurring at that exact time, how can I do that when many of the issues are intermittent? 
    With so many people on here having so many issues with this phone how can you simply ignore this problem?  Switch my phone for another phone of equal or lesser value PLEASE I would love to choose something else other than this phone.  If an issue isn't resolved I assure you when my contract is up I will be switching to a different provider causing your company to lose a lot more money in the long run than if you switch out my phone, and as I am sure I'm not the only person thinking this be ready to lose a lot of customers over not resolving an issue with an incompetent phone.

    I did exaclty as VW told me to do regarding this phone.  It locked up, again, I drove to the store and the Manager tells me it is my fault becuase of apps or something I am doing.  VW needs to understand that as a Customer I purchase a product to use.  They advertise them to be used.  I also understand that I am a sucker for staying with VW.  OR it could be the early termination fee that bugs me for a Phone that I can't use.  If there is one App that is a common app that does not work, then all the similiar issues would be an easy fix.  The Manager forgot to ask me about the prior tech support--   this is a phone I have reset 3 times with 2nd tier service.  I have removed every app.. I have installed one app at a time over a period of a month.  The random freezes and lock-ups are never the same.  Today's freeze of the day was the slide lock--no longer worked.  The LG Revolution is the problem.  Now, I try not to make calls on it--so that is does not drop them.   I have removed every app for several weeks and had more lock-ups than if I have apps iinstalled.  The problem with this phone is not the Apps, it has a memory leak, or a design flaw.  I have my calls fowarded to a different phone just so I dont have to have the phone freeze during a conversation. 
    Today was the last straw--It will be replaced, but not replaced by anything other than a LG Revolution.  This is my 3rd replacement. 
    If you were lucky to read this post and have an LG Revolution that works--that is wonderful!!
    For me, this phone has been a reason to leave Verizon.  I just can't believe after following their instructions, I am told it is my fault, and no we will not give you any credit towards a new phone.  I was asking for a$50-100 bucks off a new phone...
    I pay hundreds of dollars each month for the last 10 years and this is what I get for my money.

    It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
    First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

    If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
    As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

    Am I the only one having issues with my iPhone 5S and Resound Linx?  Apparently it states in the brochure that it supposed to be high qualitiy sound, and  work great with the iPhone. I am having issues, I have to disconnect my iPhone to accept a standard landline at home or work.   Secondly it takes a few seconds to connect the ringing of the cell into the hearing aids which I either loose the call by missing it or have to connect it. It's unfortunate that Apple didn't take into consideration of having the cell ring right into a persons hearing aids like one of there competitors. Furthermore whomever wrote the brochure has clearly lied  it's not true what is stated in the Resound Linx around the steaming quality, and iphone connection!!

    Given my personal experience with both the ReSound LiNX and Starkey Halos paired with my iPhone, i can confirm that the interplay between both hearing aids and the iPhone is far from perfect. However, I don't think it is more Apple's problem than it is ReSound or Starkey. Apple has developed technical and programming interfaces to work with a large universe of Bluetooth devices. Consequently, the responsibility for connecting really relies on the device manufacturers to craft devices that meet the connectivity standard as it is defined. That hearing aids experience struggles there doesn't surprise me. The miniaturization of circuitry and the functionality they can pack into very small devices is astonishing.....but also leads to compromise as any other micro-miniature device would have compromises.
    My more immediate concern for you is that you have been told that you must disconnect your hearing aids from your iPhone before answering a land line handset. That doesn't sound right.

    I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!

    Links should not create any problems in Keynote.  If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
    Try this repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

    delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

    empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash

    Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
    When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

    Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

    when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions

    when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

    install Keynote from the Mac App Store

    You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.
    Unless you've iPhone 4S (looks similar to iPhone 4)

  • Poor GPS reception in IPhone 3GS, am I the only one having this problem ?

    Since I have many problems with GPS drop outs and poor signal strength errors when using navigation software for Iphone 3GS firmware 4.0.2.
    First I reset my Iphone completely and installed all apps from scratch, but this has not solved my problem.
    I now tried several tests to compare with both an Android phone HTC Desire and a very old Symbian phone Nokia E65. Neither the Nokia E65 or HTC Desire have any drop outs in the GPS reception while my Iphone has several dropouts, making navigation horrible.
    Am I the only one having this problem ?

    Unfortunately, you are not the only one (I personally use TomTom with car kit). This is one of the numerous bugs introduced by iOS4 and this one has been reported by many in this forum. Be careful not to use your iPhone based navigation system in a foreign country, due to high roaming costs ! I had to use it and nearly had an heart attack when reading the invoice.
    Apple doesn't care. Unfortunately, I have to care for my budget.

    Am I the only one having problems with ringer volume since the update?? I'm hard of hearing and before updating to IOS7 I could hear my alarm and ringer just fine. Volume is turned up all the way and I've chosen the loudest sounds I could and still having a difficult time hearing.

    Annie Hall is available on DVD only.
    It is not available for streaming and I believe movies available for streaming are the only movies available with the Netflix app on an iOS device.
