Am i the only one that thinks iOS 7 is heavy on the battery??

Seams as tho iOS 7 is kills the battery anyone else have this problem??

At first, I felt like my iPhone 5 battery was running down much faster than it did with iOS 6, but now I am thinking, I was using it more the first day to see all the features.  There are many things you can do to reduce battery drain, but I don't know if the upgrade changed any of these settings that I had previously set for battery conservation.

  • Am I the only one that thinks iTunes slows everything down?

Maybe my computer is just very slow, but I feel like itunes is terrible in terms of memory usage. Every time I start it, it takes forever to boot and slows everything else down. Even if my computer is slow, this is a fault in the program as others don't have this effect... Anyone have feedback?

There's not much in iTunes that would slow the boot process of your computer, since the support processes (Mobile Device Support and Bonjour are the only ones I can think of that start at boot, though I may be forgetting one or two others) that iTunes uses don't start until late in the boot process. So I doubt that all your performance problems stem from iTunes. But you can try uninstalling iTunes - it shouldn't remove your content, but make sure you have a good backup just in case something goes wrong - and see if matters improve. That way you'll know for sure. Alternatively you can try just stopping, or uninstalling, the background processes and see if that makes any difference.
Another possibility is your system's security software, which might be blocking or delaying the launch of some components.
FWIW, I haven't seen any change in the performance of either my Windows XP nor Windows 7 systems after installation of iTunes.
    Regards.

  • Am I the only one who thinks iOS 7 is far from stable?

I have an iPhone 4S running on iOS 7.0.3 currently and ever since updating to the 7, i have experienced continuous poor battery life situations. I thought switching off certain things like "background app refresh" and several location services will extend my phone's battery life, but it was to no avail. Previously on iOS 6.1.3, I had no problem having my phone lasting one full daytime, 10-12 hours of standby and still had around 20-30% left after that duration. Most importatly, it didn't have recurrent problem of this: 50% of battery left this minute, 27% left in the next. Putting that aside, at that range of 20-30%, it was susceptible to auto shut-downs at any given time, and immediate attempt to boot the phone is not possible. Only plugging into the power source, then it was possible boot the phone, with the same amount of battery left before the shut down. The aforementioned problems happened rarely during the time when I used iOS 6. But iOS 7, I get to experience it at least once a week, not feeling safe to go out without bringing along the charger, when I could live without it last time out when my phone ran on iOS 6.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Is it a software problem? Battery management not stable yet?
One more thing about iOS 7, minor one. Has anyone experienced recurrent problem of not being able to drag notification and control center down and up at random times? The centers just don't react to the upward and downward swipes, and I had to restart my device to get the centers back.
Software instability yes? Don't get me wrong though, I like using up-to-date sofrware, but this is plain frustration, that I hope it's a software resolvable problem. It is, right?

By the way, in case I haven't given a clear enough message and problem, my phone's battery jumps from 50% to 27%, for eg, in the space of seconds, randomly. Also, my phone is becoming more susceptible to having minor battery reading jumps, like 65% to 60%, I see it as it happens.
The point being, when it was supposed to drop 1% at a time, small jumps of 5% occur. That is smaller battery fluctiation, bigger ones, like I mentioned above, can go as much as 20-30%. Which could mean at some point around 30%, my phone will shut down anytime.

  • Am i the only one that thinks MobileMe was far better than iCloud?

I use outlook for my mail, calendar and contacts. It was great using MoblieMe having my iPhone and IPad all sync'd with my outlook. Now that its iCloud I have to use (3) separate applications to have everything live in the cloud? There has to be a better way to do this. Am I missing something? This will not work for me. Please help!

Outlook for Mac never synced calendars using MobileMe as Microsoft haven't added support for the industry standard CalDAV protocol that MobileMe/iCloud and other online calendar systems use.
iCloud also now uses another industry standard protocol that Microsoft don't support (CardDAV) for contact syncing.
Unfortunately, until Microsoft joins the 21st Century and embraces modern, industry standard, cross platform syncing protocols, you won't be able to use Outlook for Mac with iCloud.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that iOS 7 looks ugly?

Sorry, after Steven Jobs left, I strongly doubt the prospect of Apple company.
The design is attention-seeking and make no sense. It is all about fancy in stread of user-friendly.
The color hurts my eyes. Please bring back the old design!
As a person who studied visual communication in undergraduate, I cannot stand this design for a second.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that itunes eq presets do nothing?

Am I the only one who thinks that itunes eq presets do nothing? Bass on my cd walkman is many times more superior to the one i get from ipod or macbook. And those eq presets are useless. I want real bass. I get far better bass on cd walkman with the same headphones. It has been an issue from day one when i got my first ipod when they started making ipods. It stores a lot of music but the quality of bass is so useless. eq are useless. don't start on eq, they are rubbish in comparison to a cd walkman.

They are more noticable on a good set of headphones. However, I never EQ my music, I would rather listen to it how its supposed to sound then just +6 on the low end to get a rumble. I think that's Apple mentality aswell

  • HD slideshow is the only one that works for me.. WHY??

I have a new mac pro with lots of hd and ram 5GB.. so I don't think its my system.
What I need to know is that I can make an acceptable slideshow if
    1) I lower the resolution of my photos from 3884x2600 to about 1024x1024
    2) I create a imovie 720hd or 1080i HD.
ANY other format creates a lousy final picture quality when viewed on the TV. I get a shimmering, but not so noticible jaggies as some have posted. If I keep the photo still and not use KB.. the still images are ok, but not fantastic. The KB kills them. This seems opposite of what I have read of the bug in imovie6.
Can anyone explain why if I use the HD formats for Imovie the photos turn out ok?
I would like to keep them in a 4x3 format but can't if I use the HD formats. Is there a way to make it 4x3 after?
Anyway.. I have done a lot of testing and this is the best I can get so far.

    Anyone??
When I make a movie in 1080 or 720.. it takes alot of resources and slows things down.
Just wondering why choosing those options are the only ones that seem to work
I really need to get it into 4x3 format too.

  • Want my JFrame to be the *only* one that can end the program when closed

    Hi all,
I have an application that is essentially a launcher for other applications -- it's a holder to allow us to demo our work and other Java examples (not necessarily our work). The launcher will either run methods to launch an application or will find a class's main method and invoke that.
In all cases, the other applications open up their own JFrames, separate from my launcher (this is a good thing). The problem is that, in general, the other JFrames are set to EXIT_ON_CLOSE. This means that if the user closes the second window, everything will close.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? I'd like either a way to say that my JFrame is the only one that can exit the program when closed, or to say globally that JFrames can't exit on close, and then re-work my initial frame so that it is still able to exit.
Note that changing all the other applications so that they do not include the EXIT_ON_CLOSE line is not an option (several of the applications we have the right to use, but not the right to modify, for instance).
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Sam

I have a similar launcher application and this is how I tackled the issue....
    Window[] windows = Window.getWindows();
This seems like a great work-around. The only problem is that Window.getWindows() is only 6.0, and unfortunately I can only assume 5.0. I can't see another method in the Window class that will return unowned windows -- is there another method that you know of?
Edit: I found I can use Frame.getFrames() instead, but unfortunately I've discovered this doesn't solve my problem. One of the applications is listening to window closing and is calling System.exit(0) itself, and is not using EXIT_ON_CLOSE as I previously thought. So I think that launching a new JVM may be the only option.... Any advice on how to do this? I'm a little stuck with the ProcessBuilder stuff above.

edit In future (not this time), Swing related questions should be posted in the [Swing forum|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=57]
I guess I was thinking this as a process-oriented question (I had already been thinking of the "different JVM" tactic), but the other option was to think of it as a pure-swing problem, like your solution above. Guess I should have just cross-posted -- everyone loves that! ;-)

Why isn't there a phone number for iTunes Support?  My only iTunes Support contact option is email.  I submitted an email but the auto response indicates I have to wait up to 48 hours for a response!  Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous???

oh whoops i forgot to tell you, i didn't actually find apple's number, although i think they have one.........what i did was i went onto the express lane and when through a series of steps and typed in my phone number and it was SUPER fast. It scared me that as soon as i pressed enter, not more than 30 seconds later, my phone started ringing. But that's the one you have to pay for.....

  • Why is 1080i the only one that works for my slideshow.

Well... I'm getting to my breaking point.
    First my system.. Mac Pro 2.66 2x300gb raid 0. x1900 ACD 30
    5gb Ram
I have read many many posts.. but I still need your help.
I have found that the only thing that gives me a marketable slideshow in terms of quality images is to make a slideshow in imovie under 1080i.
The problem with this is that it really really slows my computer down, and I don't want to do this with a slide show of about 150 images per client, and then have wait more for transistions.
    Shouldn't I start a new slideshow in "DV" setting for a 4x3?
I have tried reducing res from 10.2 mp to a 1024x??? settting for images (depending on orientation). All I seem to lose here is a bit of sharpening as I reduce the image resolution, which makes sense if I understand correctly.
So... Where to go from here.
I read the posts.. and have determined that I can use Photo to move (which I have) to make clips and import them into Imovie. Again, a slow process as each clip has to be done seperatly. Is there another way with PTM, because it does render the best Ken burns effect I have seen. Again 150 images is too long to wait to make a slide show of a wedding, not cost effective for me.
    Hope someone can help.

  • It seems I cannot use Sky Go even if I use Firefox. The only one that works is IE 11.

I was using Google Chrome, but it seems they do not support Silverlight which Sky Go use. I was told that Firefox would work. It doesn't. The only one that works is Internet Explorer 11, which is very slooow. Why can't I use Firefox to view Sky Go?

My Sky homepage. If I want to watch cricket say, it come up with ' sky go unavailable at this present moment'. If I log on to my IE 11, sky go works Ok. I have the Silverlight add-on or plug-in whatever you call it.
    Still no joy in Firefox.
