From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

I'm new to Apple and have a new Ipad2.  I cann't view images that need a flash plug in like Addobe.  What app do I need?

Flash is not supported on the iPad, and probably never will be as Apple don't want it, and Adobe have never managed to create a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices - and Adobe have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, and there is the built-in YouTube app.

  • Unable to view some websites/photographs not appea...

Hi - first post here, hopefully not one of many.
A week past on Monday, I received the HH3 having upgraded to option 2.  Plugged in the Ethernet cable and away I went.  No problems, then I about a day later I found I couldn't log in to my Amazon.co.uk customer account.  Nor could I view some photographs or they would take a fair bit of time to appear on some websites.  Amusingly, I could not view the PC World website either.  This persisted on both my laptop (Explorer) and desktop (Firefox).  Yet, when using other PCs, through BT Broadband at relatives houses, there was no problem.  Nor was there a problem using 'packet data' on my mobile phone.  Yet if I used BT Broadband through the mobile, the same problem was experienced.
I came back from holiday on Friday to find that I could once again use my Amazon customer account and no issues of the type described above were experienced.  Then last night....same problems yet again.
Finally, after two hours of checking Broadband speed and everything I could think of, I phoned the support line this morning.  The conclusion the operator arrived at was that there was a problem with the Amazon website.  However, problems were persisting at other websites including Geograph.co.uk where map data was not appearing or some photographs not appearing.  Then, miraculously, about 20 minutes after I finished the support line call everything was working fine.
Then later in the afternoon....back to square one.
This is incredibly infuriating - any idea what the issue could be?  To my mind it is definitely to do with Broadband at my home...

It would be best if you totally removed the BT software, and did not re-install it at the moment. Its not actually needed to connect to the Internet.
All you needed to do was to just plug in an Ethernet cable and it should just work.
You can access the hub manager from this address http://192.168.1.254
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

If you don't have the Apple ID and password, how did you get Mountain Liomn in the first place? Without the Apple ID and password, you'll need to buy it to download it.

  • Mac cant send or receive email.. or view some websites.. started yesterday.

I have to ask this question from our PC because the Mac cant even get to the "login" page for the Apple Discussions.
Apparently started yesterday after I got back from vacation. I cant view some pages that have a "log in" area. Specifically, I cant get to this place because the "log in" page times out. I cant get to my web panel for my domain host. I CAN log into our printers website, but when I go to the Manage Accounts link, that times out.
I also cannot get email.. sending or receiving.
I can do ALL of this from this PC I am on right now so it has to have something to do with the Mac. I tried logging into a different "User" on that machine but the same thing happens. I also cannot get any of the internet radio stations through iTunes.
I have shut down and restarted the Mac several times. I turned off the cable modem and unplugged the routers to let them reset. Still the same problem. Its like its a weird network issue on the Mac. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The Mac is our main production machine and this is causing me lots of issues. Thanks.

    Specifically?
Its trying to connect to the servers in the Activity Viewer.
Then in the Mail Connection Doctor window, for my account, it says "Could not connect to this POP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences"
For the items in my outbox that it tries to send, it tries for a minute or two then pops up one ofthe messages with a drop down that says "cannot send message using the server mail.charterinternet.com
Use the pop-up menu below to blah blah blah. It wants me to try a diff outgoing mail server. We dont have a diff outgoing mail server. ISP confirmed there were no email outtages. So I just have to hit "Try again later" button to get rid of that.
As for the other email accounts, they get the same message in the connection doctor that I stated above with my account.
The email works fine via webmail (logged in through Safari).. and the mail works fine in Opera on this PC.

  • I evidently need to install Flash, but having done so, it behaves still as if I didn't.  I have the new i7 iMac (and I see from some other forums that Flash installation has been a problem for some time.

I evidently need to install Flash, according to everything animated I've tried to view, but efforts to do so have been unsuccessful (or it's installed but not in the right place? )  I see from forums I've visited that this is an ongoing issue with iMacs--I'm surprised since it's a download on Apple that it just doesn't come with the setup...and why is it so troublesome to do?  (Weird for something so basic these days not to come with the newest, fastest, etc. iMac i7...)

If you are hang issues you can try calling AppleCare, you have 90 days of free telephone support. If they can't figure out the solution you need to contact Adobe, it's their product. Apple has announced they are moving towards HTML5 and away from Flash because it's so antiquated. It is also no-longer pre-installed on OS X so you need to download as you have found out.
You can try some basic resets to see if you can get it to work. I'd first recommend restarting in Safe Mode to clear some caches. If that doesn't work reset both the SMC and PRAM to see if that helps.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • New to Imac - how do you view the clipboard?

How do I see the clipboard and have it open?

Are you saying your clipboard is not refreshing?
By default the clipboard should refresh every time you copy something. However there are some users that have problems and the clipboard keeps the same data even after copying new text. There is a script you can use to flush clipboard contents.
Enter the following into the Script Editor in Applications/Utilities
tell application "System Events" to set the clipboard to ""
Save as an Application. Put the Script app on your desktop to run.
FWIW, I recently had this problem after assigning shortcuts to Paste and Match Style. I had to do a PRAM reset followed by a Safe Boot to get my clipboard working again.
    Reset PRAM
      1. Shut down your Mac.
      2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
      3. Turn on the computer.
      4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
      5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
      6. Release the keys.
    Safe boot
    *  shutdown
    *  start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
    *  after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
    *  keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
    *  now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
    *  eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT

  • I downloaded ios 6 on my iphone. Now I need to download the new version of itunes, which requires the new OS. In order to download the new OS i need to have the app store, which comes with the new OS

I downloaded ios6 on my iphone 4s. Now, to sync to itunes I need the new version of itunes. In order to download the new version of itunes, I need a newer OS. I am fine with downloading a new OS, but it says to download through the app store. My computer doesn;t currently have the app store. What should I do?

In order to get the App Store you must be running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
To get there you must upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6 which requires an install DVD
You can call Apple and ask them for the install DVD. It will cost $19.95 plus shipping
Once you have upgraded your Mac to Snow Leopard then you need to update it to 10.6.8
Then you will have the App Store you need
Backup first before you start any of the upgrade

  • First iMac and I dont have a clue which one to buy :(

I have seen the light and now looking to buy a second hand Apple iMac 4,1. The specs are
    Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz  2MB L2 Cache
    2GB 667MHz RAM
    160GB Hard Drive
    17" screen.
    Tiger10.4.11
My friend wants £200 for it which seems a good deal...but i dont know much about iMac's, as I have had windows based pcs for many years.
I do a lot of video editing and my widnows PC just cant cope at all, constant crashing and performace issues.
    so my questions are
Is this sutible for HD/SD video editing and what software would you recommend ? Anyone have any slow down or performance problems ?
I will have to upgrade the HDD as 160gb is far to small, whats the largest HDD i could install and is it any more difficult to fit then a PC ?
    Thanks
    Donna

It isn't a bad deal but it probably isn't a good deal for you. I have its big brother (so to speak) in my guest bedroom for visitors to use while they are with us. I have upgraded it to Snow Leopard and have Photoshop Elements 8, as well as Office 2008, a few games, and other programs. Back when it was my main computer, about 3-4 years ago I even did some video editing in iMovie.
But as captfred said, Snow Leopard is as far as you can take it which means in about 18 months you are likely to see software coming out that it cannot use. Already it is too slow for the newer versions of video editing software (unless you intend to use iMovie). The drive is too small which isn't a deal killer - for the last year or so I was booting mine from a 500GB FireWire drive.
But I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. The good deal your friend is offering would make a very good second computer for the household. I don't think it begins to fit your needs. BTW - Apple's refurbished computers are generally top notch. They tend to be returns as opposed to used. They come with a full year warranty and are elligible for AppleCare extended warranty just like a brand new computer.

  • New mac mini and can't access some websites

Just upgraded to the new mac mini and am having trouble with loading some sites on safari, primarily social networking sites. Also hangs up on other pages when loading (trying to load google now etc). We have not tranferred anything from the old mini onto the new one yet so not sure what the problem is. Suggestions??

First try > OS X: Updating your software
then > Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player

  • I Need a Good HD and Case Which One to Buy?

I need an external, large capacity (350GB +) HD for my iBook G4. Can anyone recommend a good HD and case? I need to be able to boot from the external HD. Thanks.

Mostly it saves money since you don't have to buy separate drives.
But its also nice to keep certain things separated. I back up two Macs to a single drive, but separate partitions. OS-X thinks they are separate drives and SuperDuper recognises which drive belongs with which Mac.

  • When viewing some websites my desktop background image shows as the page background...why...and how do I fix this?

It seems that the current version of Firefox does not understand how to process style sheets. Instead of the stylesheet background color or image, I am now seeing my PC's desktop background image. This does not happen with IE or Chrome. When checking the error console, I get "Warning: Unknown property 'zoom'. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://trustserve.net/themes/ModernBlue/templates_cached/EN/global.css Line: 4"
I am not trying to zoom.
Any ideas on how to fix this. I can't use Firefox with these problems and I really liked it prior to these problems.

I thought I had it disabled. I enabled aero and then disabled to be sure, and still have the problem, but that was a very good idea. Thanks.
The problem started shortly after I installed two new programs, a graphics program, and an anti-virus. I just removed both programs and restarted the computer and that seems to have solved the problem. Your idea about Aero gave me the idea that one, or both of these programs changed some of my system settings. I am now going to install them, one at a time, and see if the transparency problem returns. I'll post my findings.
