Am unable to find my network in my new office with my powerbook G4

I have moved into a new office and am unable to find our new network on oir Powerbook G4. However, I also have a MacBook Pro and this can not only pick up the network but also has a very strong signal
I have NEVER had a problem finding a signal with this laptop
Is there an issue with the PowerBook G4 finding network signals at all???
BillytheBee

Does the machine have an airport address inside the battery bay?
Did you ever use wireless with the machine before?
Is the wireless network setup for 802.11g and/or 802.11n only?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • I have an iPad 2 v6.1.3 that has a problem with connecting to wi-fi.  My other I macs have no problem with connecting.  The pad keeps coming up with unable to join the network. Nothing has changed with passwords--it just refuses to join my secure network.

My other Imacs and my wife's Ipad 3 have no problem with conneccting.  My Ipad keeps coming up with unable to join the network.  Nothing has changed with passwords--it just refuses to join my secure network.  A couple minutes ago, it connected for 10 seconds, then dropped the connection.  Is there a way to reconfigure the Ipad to fix this major problem, as we dropped our carrier (saved a bunch of money) and just went wifi.
Thanks so much for any help with resolving my connection problem.

  • Unable to find wireless network on Photosmart C4780 on MacBook Pro running OS X 10.10.3

I have been successfully using a Photosmart C4780 on my wireless network for a long time.  I had internet issues and the network name was changed.   Now I can't print wirelessly.  Tried reinstalling the software, but the program quits just before set-up.
    Help!!

    Hey there @physiocan!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I should be able to provide some suggestions that may get your Photosmart C4780 reconnected to your wireless network.  Due to the age of the printer there is no full feature software and driver developed for Mac 10.10.  Your printer requires the HP full feature software to setup the wireless through the USB cable.  Once the Wi-Fi is setup then the USB cable can be removed.  To reconfigure your printer to the new network name you will require a computer running the Windows operating system or a Mac with version 10.7 or lower.
Please post back and let me know!  You will only require another computer for the Wi-Fi setup.  Once the wireless is setup then you should be able to add it to your Mac 10.10 using the Apple Airprint drivers built into the Mac operating system.
Thanks again for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Working network, but airport utility unable to find any network devices

    Hi
Can anyone help. I have a stable network which has been working fine for ages. I have an airport extreme + express(airtunes)X2. I was having problems with my printer and ran airport utility 5.3.2 which failed to find any of my devices, but my airport card has no trouble connecting to the network and internet. I also note that itunes no longer sees my remote speakers. I have re-booted everything with no change. All software is up to date on OS 10.5.6.
    Any ideas?????

    Hi,
I have the same problem. I'm very confused right now...I have one Mac and one PC that have both been able to successfully get online with the AEBS I have. A couple of hours ago, though, the wi-fi connection went dead with the PC. The AEBS has been showing a solid green light all this time, though. The Mac is online--and thank goodness because I wouldn't have been able to look or ask for help, otherwise! And our other various wi-fi enabled devices (ie my mom's iPhone and my iPod touch) have been able to get online, too. It's just the PC that doesn't want to work, for some reason.
I tried turning off the firewall to see if that would help anything. It didn't. I also tried rebooting my PC and that didn't work. Then I unplugged the AEBS for a couple minutes to see if that would help anything, but it didn't. And then I went into Airport Utility on the PC, but the AEBS isn't showing up at all. Yet when I go into Network Connections and view available networks through Windows, it sees my network and I've got full bars in terms of reception.
I'm very confused here. I really don't know what to do. :S Anyone have any suggestions? I'd definitely love to hear them.

See detail in original question. Here is the text from the dialog box which comes up, with fields for Username and Password: "The proxy fastun.com:7000 is requesting a user name and password. The site says: "fasTun"." This means I'm unable to use MFF. I've uninstalled MFF and re-installed MFF and the same occurs. The problem arose after I'd been surfing the Net and got to a German site. From that point onwards my internet became very slow. When I ran "speedtest.net" my computer was going thruugh Frankfurt, Germany, instead of Canberra, Australia! Can you please help?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Following my doing a System Restore to a point prior to the computer slowing down. From that point on I've been unable to use MFF to connect to any websites. The problem does not appear using Windows Internet Explorer 8, nor is there an issue with speed of downloads. ==

Check the proxy settings under Tools -> Options -> Advanced - Network tab, Settings button.
You probably want No Proxy, if it is set to anything else.
    See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel#Connection_Settings_Dialog
http://fastun.com (a registration required web accelerator / anonymizer) indicates it has some sort of Firefox add-on. Do you see a relevant one in Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions? Try disabling it.
If you are not sure which one it is, try [[Safe Mode]] to disable all of them.

  • In the Customize Toolbar I was unable to find some useful buttons like New Tab or Reload Current Page. Will they be added?

    I have nothing to add

You can't have an icon twice. The "reload current page" is on the right of the location toolbar and the "New tab" icon is on the right of the tab toolbar.
You can move them to the "Customize toolbar" window or any other place in any toolbar.

You can authorise your account on a computer's iTunes via the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes - if you using a PC with iTunes 11 then Alt-S should get the Store menu to appear.

  • HP Envy 5643 Cannot find wireless networks

    Hi,
I purchased this printer a day ago and it connected successfully with my wifi network through the setup wizard. I'm not sure what has happened but it somehow lost the connection and is unable to find wifi networks. When using the setup wizard it searches and doesnt find anything (before it found my network as well as sorrounding networks).
I tried connecting it through a USB and configuring it that way but even then I get an error saying its unable to connect.
I'm using a Mac if that helps.

Hello @Pleaseworkty , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into connectivity issues.  I'd like to help!
What version of Mac are you using?
    - Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
I'd recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

  • NOKIA N8 - Unable to connect - WLAN Network not fo...

also for NOKIA N8 THE SAME PROBLEM: Unable to connect - WLAN Network not found;I see my network in the wlan list (Tthe state is "knowed") but when i try to connect to it,i read: Unable to connect-wlan network not found;i tryed with: mac filter on/off,dhcp on/of,wep protection on/off,firewall router on/off,power saving in the phone on/off, but the problem is the same ever!..Niklas Savander,..where you are?..nokia is back?..but with the same problems!

Well, I seem to have issues with WLAN as well.
When I am approx. 10metres away from my Router, the N8 doesn't connect. However, I can connect to WLAN using my Nokia N900, Nokia E52 and my Netbook (Asus EEE1005HA). This is a N-router with standard settings. I have tried changing, the channels etc. but it doesn't resolve the problem.
So is this a problem with the Nokia N8? I mean, all my other wireless devices work fine. I even tried changing the Wireless Interface type from N/B/G, to B/G but as I said before, the problem is still there.
Hopefully this problem can be sorted with a software update, that is if the N8 finds it difficult to connect to Wireless Internet.
P.S.: Tthere is another thread reporting similar problems. Here is the link.

  • Finding wireless networks abroad

i am in sweden right now, and for the second time, my macbook pro (brand new) is unable to find the network that i am sitting right next to (and currently connected to by wire). the wireless router (which does work with a pc right now) is a dlink DI 624. i have connected without problem to a dlink here in sweden that has already had US-based apple computers on it, as well as to a hotel network here in sweden. this is the second time that i could not connect to a home network. i called applecare in sweden, and the only suggestion was to try entering the network information manually (including preceding the password with a $ and/or "). it did not work.
the information in the dlink manual only relates to setting up a wired connection (no problem, that works). i can't find any information on the dlink site.
any suggestions, it seems strange that airport cannot find find certain routers - btw, both routers to which i tried to connect required WEP passwords. (i have successfully connected to a router with password in the US).
    thanks!

Having similar problems with my ageing G5and 10.5.8.
Sometimes get a 3 band wireless /fast connection to my network but at other times when waking from sleep get nothing. I have to reboot my airport extreme base station and the Netgear router and then the G5 can see the network again.
Recently had an issue with the G5 not recognizing the wireless password (WPA 2 personal) without logical reason.
    I did a Keychain First Aid verify/repair.
Now back on a 3 band wireless and for now all seems fine.

  • I cannot connect to wifi with ios7. It will not find any network. What do I do?

Ever since I updated to ios7, my iPhone 5 has been having problems connecting to wifi. When I go into Settings, it is unable to find the network at home, at school, in public areas, etc. I know that the internet and wifi work in my house because my fiance is able to find and connect to it on his phone no problem. I tried resetting the network settings but that did not help. What can I do? Apple should fix this if it's a bug with ios7. I've been having SO many problems with this update.

  • Unable to Find Address Without Wireless Network Co...

Nokia Maps v.2 on my phone attempts to search for an address on-line every time I enter a destination point. 99% of time it works great but only when I have wireless network coverage (I am using AT&T Wireless). However, we just went to Maine, where ATT's wireless coverage stinks. In the area where we had no wireless coverage the phone was attempting to find the address on-line and after a minute or so would return a message "unable to find the address."
Since I had Maine maps downloaded on the phone, how do I get the phone to use the databased stored on the phone instead?

Yup, an IP of 169.254....is self-assigned when it cannot get one from the router.  The WPS button does not reset the router.
Do this on the printer:   Setup > Network > Wireless Setup WIzard. Follow the instructions.

  • Deskjet 3512 connected to wireless network but utility says 'Unable to find printer'

    1. Product Name and Number
         • HP Deskjet 3512
     2. Operating System installed (if applicable)
         • Windows 7 64-bit
     3. Error message (if any)
         Unable to find printer.
        Facts:
    - Printer is connected to network. Panel LED is unblinking blue and the status indicates the correct SSID for my network. Also the router config page indicates that the printer is connected with a correct IP (192.168.1.XX).
    - Wireless Network Test Results diagnostics of the printer states that all PASSED, except that the Internet says 'Not connected'.
    - Tried to ping the IP that the printer panel says, but cmd says: Destination Host Unreachable. Tried arp -a after that but it does not show the IP & MAC address of the printer.
    - Turned off: Windows firewall, router firewall (Telus Actiontec V1000H) and disabled MAC Address Control and uninstalled Avast AV and reboot.
    - Cannot access printer Embedded Web Server.
    - Tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it didnt find the printer. And when it did find it, it was by using the USB cable. After selecting the fixes, it came to 'Unable to Find Printer again'.
     4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
         • No changes. Bought the printer and I'm having this issue.
    PLEASE HELP!

To start out sounds like this is a driver issue. I want to start with being sure that the removal of the software and reinstallation happened in the best possible fashion. I want you to follow my steps so I can be sure that we are both starting on the same page.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
find and install the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE if it is available :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=5241114
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

unable to find appropriate driver for my mcbook air using a ricoh aficio mp36501SP network printer.  had similar problem with another ricoh copier/printer, but was able to resolve that problem entering ip address.  this one wants job code.  i don't believe mac allows for input on job code or printer code for permission to print

I'm having similar problems with an HP OfficeJet 6500. One suggestion that improved the situation, but did not totally solve the problem, was to select "OfficeJet Pro L7700" for its drivers.
One other suggestion is to turn off the printer, then simultaneously hold down the "#" and "9" keys and turn the printer back on. This hot key seems to reset the printer to factory defaults, allowing you to set things up anew.
Finally, kvetch to HP. Their networking software clearly has problems in its relationship to OSX, but nobody on either side seems motivated to bring in a good therapist.
