remove your caps database. this shows the location for cs3. make the obvious changes for cs5.

If so then please utilize the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. I have CS5.5 Web Premium for Mac. I have been using it on my old PowerBook on Yosemite for several months. I just purchased a new PowerBook with Yosemite and cannot get the software to install. I purchased an external drive, LG Portable DVD Writer. I first thought that this was the failure point, but, since then, I was about to install MS Office. Many times the CD spins insanely without allowing me to install. However three times now, I've made it to the point just passed entering the ID, which was successful (I have a screenshot). I get to a point of the Installation Status that reports: Your installation encountered errors. Please try restarting your system and installing again. Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again. After determining that would not resolve the problem, I began doing a little research and found that there was an Exit 15 error in the error log. I then downloaded the CS Cleaner Tool. The application returned this message: The following installations were found on your system. The dialog box was empty. I then decided to try to download the application this morning while I was on a dog walk. It appears that the file downloaded and I was able to initiate the installation. However, shortly after that, I can an error message stating that it has timed out. I tried again to install it from the finder, but, it does nothing. I am out of ideas! Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did that today, and got the exact same error message.
This is what I've tried now..
Copying installation files to desktop and installing.
Downloading installation files to desktop.
Any other ideas? It seems as though there is some kind of "conflict" where old files need to be removed. However, my earlier assessment found that those files do not exist, since nothing is actually installed yet.

Trying to put CS5.5 on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.9.4. In the final "Installation Status" screen, has a triangle warning with Your installation encountered errors at the top. In the box it says "Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again." Tried that several times now. Any ideas?from mylenium,
Manually delete the caps.db in the caps folder. Just running the cleaner script doesn't resolcve that particular issue as in fact a completely unrelated entry in the database may be causing this and not show up in the tool at all...

I see 10.6.3 in your profile---is tthat what you are trying to load? If so, it won't work. No PowerPC Mac like your G5 can run a Mac OS version higher than 10.5.8

Problem installing Silverlight on Mac running Yosemite 10.10.2
I've been using a streaming service successfully last year and re-signed up today. When I tried to pick a video I was presented with a window indicating I needed to install silverlight and it provided a link. To make a long story short I've tried
installing silverlight (using the stream service's link which was the Microsoft download page) and using it with Firefox and Safari and get to response from the streaming site. Checking Activity Monitor all that appears installed is Silverlight
preferences. When I click on 'Microsoft Silverlight.app all it shows is a 52 bit alias. Each subsequent install I first removed EVERY file related to silverlight. I'm stumped. Thanks.

1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -
Tried installing same the DVD on a new iMac but the above error keeps popping up all the time.
Tried loading the same DVD on a macbook pro laptop all works fine, don't require the program on the macbook pro but why doesn't it install on the brand new iMac?

Trying to instll iCloud on a new Toshiba laptop so I can sync contacts, calendars, email with my iPhone and iPad. Get error message HRRESULT:OX8007OBC9, says installer encountered errors before iCloud Control Panel 2.0 could be configured. Have the same problem trying to istall iTunes.

Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.

Install failed on MAC running Yosemite.
Just subscribed to Acrobat XI. Dowloaded dmg file. It will not start. It does not appear that running the previously dowloaded version (trial) is automatically accepting the upgrade, since it broke a 63 page document into three files. Running MAC yosemity. How do I get this to install?
If the trial is running there is nothing to download, nothing to install, because you already have it. Just license the trial, it becomes live.
