  • Big props to AMANDA from Customer Relations + Ipad 2 fiasco

I, like many others here, are quite unhappy with Verizon and how we have been treated since our "purchased, non-purchased, not received" Ipad 2.  I think it sucks that Verizon has an $800 interest free loan from me for the last 3 weeks and can't tell me where/when my Ipad 2 will ship.
Not to mention the way I have been treated by my local Verizon Wireless store in PA, both on the phone and in person.  I have been given the run-around at the store and all they can say is "I"m sorry, you were told the wrong thing, I can't help you".  Promises of ship dates, tracking numbers, etc.  Not good at all.
A BRIGHT SPOT IN MY VERIZON HELL!!!!  I had the good fortune to get in touch with Amanda from Customer Relations yesterday.  She was patient, listened to me vent, did some checking on her own and provided some feedback.  She even says she will follow up with me on Monday to see if there is any new news on my order.
I know what you're thinking...."yea, sure she's going to follow up.  Sure she is checking on things".  You know what?  I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and look forward to speaking with her.  Verizon should be proud to have her in the Customer Relations position and do hope they realize that.  So Verizon management types who have screwed up this Ipad 2 thing royally, know that AMANDA in customer relations is doing an awesome job!

We appreciate the valuable time you have taken to write about your experience. I understand how frustrating this has been. In the future if you would like to give positive/negative praise to an employee, use the Contact Us link at the top of vzw.com to send us an email. This way we can pull up your account and get the rep's info to forward to leadership. For your convenience, we will be sending you a message to gather the details needed to forward your kudos to Amanda.
    Thank you

  • Hey!! i just moved from miami to vienna...i conected my desktop with a big convertor...to 220...and my computer shut down after one hour!!

    Hello!!
I just relocated to Austria,Vienna...and I just recieved my moving from miami.
I just conecyed my computer with a convertor for electricity from 110... to 220 (europe)
it was working for one hour...and sudenly..it shut down completly!!
    what can I do?
    thank you!!
    joanna

Joanna...You don't need and shouldn't use a convertor. If you look at the message I sent you back in June I suggested getting an adapter which only allows the plug to fit in the wall. someone else made the same suggestion.
I'm not sure why you bought a convertor. It's been six months since i sent the message and I don't know if you have been using the computer in Italy or why it is now not working, as I used mine in both Italy and Vienna.
You can buy an adaptor at any electirc store or at Saturn, a large store on Mariahilferstrasse fairly cheaply.
If you do get an adaptor and it still doesn't work, there are a few resellers in Vienna, but no Apple owned store. It's too small a market.
There are a couple of MacShark stores, one at the foot of Mariahilferstrasse near the Kunsthistoriches Museum. I There is also a very good store, honest and a good reputation called Digital Store at Stiftgasse 21, in the 7th district, not too far off of Mariahilferstrasse.
Since they are not Apple stores, you have to pay for almost anything they do, including just opening it up and checking it out so get an estimate before you have them do anything.
Good luck, but try an adaptor first.

  • Lost Connection to Wireless from Laptop

Just returned to Michigan from Miami with my Macbook 13" 10.4 2ghz. My daughter had no problem accessing the internet there but when i came home I can't connect to Comcast. Did Comcast change something? I don't think she changed anything.
I open Safari and get the "could not connect" warning then click on Network Diagnostics.
    I select my location.
    Choose Network port configuration-Airport
    Select Airport Network
Enter Airport info- Wireless Security:WEP Password and what I thought was my password (and several other possibilities)
I click on Airport icon on top get the drop down and open internet connect.
It says Airport power on, base station ID: Not avavilable.
Do I need to do a new set-up?
Please, if you have any suggestions I'll need it in a step by step format.
    Thanks Mr. McTev.

Maybe Comcast is having problems..... here is another user having problems too.

  • Turned "Sort by Album Artist" off on iPod Touch 5th Gen so individual artists on compilation albums will show up separately under "Artists" with no succuss.  This worked perfectly on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen.  Any Advice?

I have a 5th Gen iPod Touch.  It is running the latest iOS, and iTunes has the latest update.  I have many compilation albums that I imported from CD.  I want the individual artists and their associated song(s) to show up under "Artists."  I have turned off "Sort by Album Artist" in Settings.  This worked perfectly on my 4th Gen Touch.  Each artist from a compilation would show up under "Artists" with the correct song(s) showing, while still showing the whole compilation under "Albums."  Now, on my 5th Gen Touch, when I try to look at an artist from a compilation under "Artists,"  I get one of the following:  the correct artist and song, an incorrect artist and song, or an incorrect artist with the entire compilation album showing up.  Is this a bug in the new iOS 7, or am I doing something wrong?  Anyone else with this problem?  Any advice?

I have the same problem and I have been really trying hard to find a solution.  No success.
My main problem is this:  For example:  Top Gun soundtrack - I look at Kenny Loggins under artists and I see his albums and songs, plus the 2 songs from top gun.  Then when I look at Miami Sound Machine (also on top gun cd) under artist, I see correct albums from Miami sound machine, but under the top gun soundtrack, it shows the 2 kenny loggins songs instead.  then if I look at another artist from top gun cd, it continues to show the kenny loggins songs.  It doesn't matter which songs i look at, but the first one i start with will always show up on the others.  Funny thing is, if I click on the song, the correct song plays, it just says it is the kenny loggins song!!!  ha ha.   Been dealing with this for over a year now.  Pretty aggravating.   Happens whether I have compilations checked or unchecked on settings.   I have over 50 compilation albums and some are checked, some aren't...they all behave this way.
On Mac, itunes (v 12) it all shows up correctly and works fine.  I have become an expert on ID tags and am very thorough with my tagging.  HAND TAGGING, not some program that does it for you...they are never correct.  I match all my tag info with the info in the iTunes store for each album so it is sure to match.  Has taken a long, long, long time.
Love iTunes match, but this one issue is a real pain.  Anyone with any ideas, I'd love to hear them!  Thanks!

  • Battery and WiFi issues after upgrade to 1.1.1?

Since my upgrade to 1.1.1, my iPhone has had HORRIBLE battery life. I charged it all night last night and it is only almost noon, and I have not used it much at all, and it is already DEAD. It forced shutdown just now.
Another issue that I have been having is the phones lack of ability to find any wireless networks without first rebooting the phone.
I have done a full restore on the phone as well as a restore without restoring from backup, and the results have been the same.
Has anyone else had these issues?

  • How do I get these numskulls to solve my problem?

I had called previously to settle the following problem but the tech hung up be for the problem. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THIS PROBLEM IS SOLVE NOW!
I have now been wating 30 minutes for them to establish a secure connection for a on-line chat.
: Hello! How may I help you today?
AT&T: Please wait while a secure chat connection is established.
AT&T: Thank you for your patience. Please continue to wait.
Me: I am in Hong Kong. My phone is turned off. I am calling from another HK phone. How can I access my voicemail. I get a message that my phone is disconnected.
Danny S: Hello! My name is Danny and I am an International Care Representative, it will be my pleasure to assist you tonight. May I have your name and your 10-digit wireless number?
    Me: Ralph
Danny S: Thank you, Ralph! How may I assist you tonight?
Me: I am in Hong Kong. My phone is turned off. I am calling from another HK phone. How can I access my voicemail. I get a message that my phone is disconnected.
Danny S: Okay, does it give any sort of error code when you call into your number? And just in case, what dialing pattern were you using when calling your number?
Me: I had my son call from the states and he gets the same error voice message I get from HK. I checked the bill is paid. Was my phone disconnected I turned it on once but have since damaged (dropped it). I pulled the battery since screen is un readable.
Me: I used the same dialing pattern to make other calls to the states.
Danny S: The line does show as active, so it hasn't been suspended. It's possible that the last carrier it was attached to does not support forwarding calls to voicemail, and it may have hung on that when it was damaged, but let me check through the details on it.
Me: My son called the number from Miami and got the same error message. He uses AT&T also.
Danny S: Okay, checking through, it does look like a hung registration, so I'm going to try to cancel the registration.
    Me: Thanks!
Danny S: You're welcome! It should only take a moment to process; once it does so, let's see if it clears it up.
Danny S: Okay, the registration has been canceled, and I also noticed something else, there seems to be a mismatch between the phone being a Samsung or a Motorola, which could be affecting the line. Which type is it? And there should be an IMEI on the label in the battery compartment, could you provide me that?
Me: It's Samsung, I had the sim in a Motorola but it's back in the Samsung S5 Active.
Danny S: Thank you, let me make sure the correct IMEI is in the system.
Danny S: Okay, that's updated. Try to call it once more, and let me know if it goes through to it.
    Me: k
Me: error message "Sorry the number you dialed is not a working number.... "
Me: Does the Samsung Phone have to be on?
Danny S: Okay, so it wasn't the hung registration or the mismatch, let me check through the details again to see if anything else at all looks out of place. And it wouldn't need to, since while the device is powered off, it's supposed to automatically send calls to voicemail; that error means that there's something along the line that's interrupting it.
Me: Thanks that's what I thought.
Danny S: You're welcome, and I tried resetting the voicemail routing. don't worry, that won't affect your voicemails, but may help get it through. Everything does look okay though. But give it just one more try for me, in case that reset helped fix the connection.
    Me: k
    Me: same error axe1
Danny S: Okay, in that case, do you have access to another phone there that could accept AT&T SIM cards? I want to have the interface with the SIM checked, just in case the damage to the phone extended to it, and is not visible on the account itself.
Me: I have the Motorola Moto
Danny S: Okay, first make sure that the data roaming is off in the Moto, then power it down and try to insert the SIM into it, then power it back on. By the way, which was the IMEI of the Moto?
    Me:
Me: phone has att sim booted up says Smar Tone HK
Danny S: Okay, let me test the connection. It will just take a moment.
Danny S: Okay, it does look like the SIM is working properly. Go ahead and place it on airplane mode, and we'll see if the current registration allows the call from the local phone to be sent to voicemail now.
    Me: Airplane mode set
Danny S: Okay, and did it give the same error when you tried to call it from the local phone?

    Hi there
I’m sorry to hear that you have been unable to access your voicemail!
It seems like due to the SIM switch, the voicemail service has temporarily been put into an inactive state. When swapping between devices, this will occur and requires re-setting up the voicemail service. Your unheard and saved messages would not be affected. Are you currently still in the Hong Kong area?
    Thanks,
    Charise

  • Save your Unlimited. B4 you get rid of it read this.

First, If you are going to get a new phone and you have unlimited you will lose the unlimited unless you pay full price for the phone or bring a phone you bought to Verizon. Lets be clear about that first because Verizon Employees might not tell you that. Second, Find out from several employees if switching from unlimited to a regular plan is right for you. It really might work for you and you may save money but if you are like my husband who uses his phone for work  then switching out of the unlimited will not be wise.
I want everyone to hear my story because it is wrong what Verizon did. Not only did their  employee lie to me saying we would save more money if we got out of our unlimited (we now pay an extra $40.00 a month and i dont even have a smart phone yet) But Verizon wont fix the problem. Below is the letter i sent to them and in response  a lady name Amanda from there offices said "i dont think i can give you back your unlimited." I called her and left a message to ask who else i could speak to and she never called me back.  Dont let this happen to you !!!
    Here is the letter
    Greetings,
I have been a reliable and loyal Verizon customer for 10 years. I have also converted my family members to Verizon customers as well. The reason I have been a customer for 10 years is because I have never had any problems with customer service until now.
I bought the iphone5 for my husband’s birthday in March/April. I had an extended conversation with one of your representatives about the data plan that would work best for my husband. She told me that taking him off the unlimited plan would be the best option for him and in the end we would save money, especially when I get my smart phone. I emphasized to her how much my husband is on his phone, and she said it would not be a problem. This of course was not true. I took her word for it and decided to opt out of the unlimited. Half way into the first month of the new plan my husband had to increase his data and as soon as this happened I called and spoke to another representative. The woman transferred me to a supervisor and this is where things took a turn. This manager Joanne or Joana was beyond rude to my husband and I. She told my husband not to use the phone when he didn’t need it and it was our fault we opted out of the unlimited plan and there was nothing she was going to do about it. Live with it! Wow really?? Is this how you speak to paying, loyal customers? I work in a well-known steak house and the way we deal with customer problems is nothing like the way I have been treated by this company.
After speaking to Joana I have called many times. Your representatives tell me there is nothing they can do but they will have a manager call me back and days go by and nobody calls. This happened 3 times. I had a supervisor give me a number to the corporate office that was a wrong number. In the mean time our bill has gone up $40.00 and still no one is helping me. After many empty promises and so many different answers from your representatives finally a solution comes. Over a month ago I spoke to a woman who said she could put our plan back to the unlimited service because I was a loyal customer and always paid my bills on time. At first she said she could not do this because of how many months it had been since I got the phone but I told her I called from the first month I received the phone and have not stopped calling. After a long wait on the phone she came back on the line and said by the next billing cycle I will see the unlimited plan back in effect. I was thrilled and so thankful for her helping me with this problem. (Please listen to the recording of this conversation of the verbal contract this woman gives me) This was another lie. I called when I realized the plan had not been changed back to the unlimited. The representative told me that it was only a request and the representative should have called me to tell me it was denied. The woman offered to put in another request and would call me to let me know the results. She obviously never called and my request has been denied again.
I have spoken to many of your representatives with no avail. They have deceived me from the very start and I believe it is more beneficial to your company that we don’t have the unlimited. Many of your employees told me they would have never suggested we get off the unlimited plan due to the fact of how much data my husband uses. Now that says it all!!
I feel I have been mistreated and definitely MISLEAD by your company. I would like for things to go back to where they were before I was lied too, and I would prefer not to hear that I have waited too long or it’s no longer a plan we offer or there is nothing you can do because there is ALWAYS something you can do. I would like to have my unlimited plan back and if you will not do that for me than I ask that you wave my cancelation fee so I can cancel my plan. That’s the least you can do.
Verizon is a huge multi million-dollar company and apparently they are no longer worried about how they treat their customer. Your company may have the best coverage but I would rather be with a company who doesn’t have the best coverage but is honest, fair and treats their customers with respect.

Unfortunately, Design View is incapable of displaying CSS border-radius, gradients, shadows and other CSS level 3 properties.   That's why we have Live View which behaves more like a real browser.
If you can't live with this, disable CSS in DW by going to View > Style Rendering > untick display styles.
Or, use a Design-Time Style Sheet that contains no CSS level 3 properties.

  • To what extent does auto-syncing work...?

I have researched this but can not find the answer anywhere.
I need to know to what extent does auto-syncing work?
I started my library quite some time ago, and I didn't want to use the auto-sync feature. My library has grown very large and to be honest, I still wouldn't mind doing the manual syncing if my behavior and/or needs hadn't changed. However, I am now going back and adding artwork and making some slight modifications to several songs. Overall, through one type of change or another, this will affect the vast majority of my library. What I need to know is if I were to make info-related changes, will the syncing make the modifications on the ipod, or will they be ignored?
For instance, here are some of the types of changes that I am beginning to make:
    - Adding Artwork.
    - Changing a track name from "Living in a box" to "Livin' in a box"
    - Adding info to the various fields such as album author, comments.
    - Modifying a track name from "Love is a Battlefield" to "Love Is A Battlefield"
    - Changing an album name from "Miami Vice Soundtrack" to "Miami Vice [Soundtrack]" or "Shrek (Soundtrack)" to "Shrek [Soundtrack]"
    - Updating an artist's name from "Jackson Five" to "Jackson 5"
Any insights would be most appreciative.
    Bill

While in Manual sync, any changes you make in iTunes will not get put onto the iPod until you drag the songs over.
Any changes you make on the iPod thru iTunes will not be on the original in iTunes.
    Any rating,
Any reason you are using manual sync instead of Auto sync?
If you don't want (or can't) to put everything in iTunes on the iPod, use selected playlists and manage those playlists.
When you make changes to the songs in iTunes, they will get updated onto the iPod automatically.

  • Fraudulent international calls

Verizon should learn the fundamentals of customer service, such as the customer is always right and not accused them of lying (never said that but definitely implied it based on the numerous times I was told "well that's not what the customer service reps notes say here"... as if those notes are always so precise and accurate). Every time, I called Verizon, I told each representative please read your notes, because they don’t read them. My husband died last May, I was pregnant at the time of his death. My daughter is four months now. I don’t have time to be on the phone talking for hours to Verizon representatives explaining my situation.  Verizon has the worse organization system when it comes to customer services is TERRIBLE, only a few representatives were able to help me.
Beginning in March 13, 2015, I decided to make a phone called and my phone had no service. I called Verizon; a representative told me that my phone number was change. It happens five times in a period of three weeks.  My phone number was change a few times without my permission; my account began accumulating charges for calls to Cuba. I never received emails stating that there had been a change on my account.  One Verizon representative told they sent me a text, probably to one of the number my phone was change into.  I continue calling Verizon, they told me to change my passwords a few times and cancel my online MyVerizon account to prevent hacking into the account to make changes.
Days went by and the fraudulent international minutes starting to rack up.  Every time I called customer service, they would tell me, I had a large amount of international phone calls. The Hackers were opening landlines in Miami and calling to Cuba. Verizon don’t even bother to look where you are calling from or where do you live. I live in a small town in Texas. I am 1620.50 miles away from Miami. I am two hours away from the nearest Verizon store, I work and with 4 month baby a tight budget can’t just travel and visit the store. I am not superman in order to fly  to Miami for one evening or night and open a landline and come back to Texas call Verizon the next day or within hours and said, my phone is not working, have some common sense.
I have spent approximately 15 hours spent on the phone with fraud, tech and customer support, wasting a day with my children and work on this problem, approximately $1500 bill for March and April combine. I was told that the fraud department is working on getting credit back all the fraudulent charges on the next bill, and I would like 4 months free service because of all the inconvenience I had to deal with. Every time I called someone in Verizon they would said let me “research” put me on hold for hours.  The fraud department never called back, I had to call them because they disconnected my services, and they still blame me for the charges. The last call I made they told me, I should not give my personal information to anyone in a rude tone. I told that representative did not give my information to anyone. Verizon needs to take responsibility their accounts are been hacked.   I also did my research came across the following articles, I hope Verizon representatives take time to read them. Also, I know more people who had the same experience with Verizon around this area.  I cried myself to sleep one night cause since; we had to change all of my passwords my late husband voice messages were deleted. I had being a loyal customer; I deserve very treatment and respect.
    News articles
A critical vulnerability discovered in Verizon's FiOS mobile application allowed an attacker to access the email account of any Verizon customer with relative ease, leaving almost five million user accounts of Verizon's FiOS application at risk.

I always recommend in these cases to run a maintenance cycle ensuring all software updates and patches are installed as well to run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware suite using the most recent virus signature files available.

  • Photo Library with duplicate pictures

I need help with the photo sync function. When syncing photos from my computer to my phone (via iTunes), a folder called Photo Library is automatically created on my phone, containing duplicate pictures of every picture being transferred.
To be specific and very clear, I have the Camera Roll on my phone. I have two folders on my computer with pictures which I want to add to my phone. These folders are titled "Miami beach trip" and "Hollywood trip" and contain 50 pics and 30 pics, respectively.
When I tried to sync the photos using iTunes, I ended up with 3 folders on my iPhone, in addition to the Camera Roll. I ended up with the Miami beach trip with 50 pics, hollywood trip with 30 pics, and a Photo Library folder with 80 pics (duplicates of all pics from Miami trip and hollywood trip).
Is there a way to sync so that I don't end up with duplicates? I tried deleting the iPhone Photo Cache folder before syncing and that did not work. Please help.

So this is normal? Is there a way to NOT have the Photo Library folder? It is pretty redundant and I would prefer to NOT have the same pics appear in more than 1 folder.
When I first realized that the Photo Library folder automatically appeared with the same exact photos from other folders, I became quite frustrated. I started messing around with the sync function. I would delete the iphone photo cache, then sync. Then I removed the folders that I had just added. Then I synced again. I did this quite a few times and somehow, I finally was able to add a folder without the Photo library containing all the pictures.
It was a fluke and I don't even know what I exactly did. I can't get it to work this time around but am convinced that there should be a way to do it.
Do you know how? Thank you for your time and help.

  • Does Pick Up at store by friend really need the physical credit card used?

Can I pay with a credit card by phone from Miami for friend in Spokane WA to pick up? Friend has WA State ID. Does friend need my physical credit card for in store pick up?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If the friend is listed under friends and family pickup they will not need the credit card but they will certainly still require an ID.
Yes you can place an order for pickup in another state, I have done it before for other customers just be sure to have your friend listed in the friends and family pick-up
