Amarok1 - can't seem to enable mp4/aac tagging support
I have libmp4v2 and taglib-extras installed, but compiling with the default --with-mp4v2 and even trying to set the --with-mp4v2-dir=/usr/lib or /usr/include, amarok1 (from AUR) will not compile with mp4/aac editing support. Is there another package that I need?

I did the ./configure --help -- that's where I also found the --with-mp4v2-dir setting. Would building it manually without the PKGBUILD change anything? I can scroll up during the compile and see all the options it's building with ... they're the same options I would set if it's being built manually. The only thing I can see is that it doesn't find mp4.h (I think that's file...on a different computer at the moment). mp4.h exists on my system, and I tried setting the path to it with the --with-mp4v2-dir. Not sure if that's even why it's not working, but I can't see anything else during the ./configure that looks like it's missing! I'll pastebin the output of ./configure when I get back to my other computer.

This is the output of ./configure with the default --with-mp4v2 setting in the PKGBUILD. I'm browsing through the configure file, but I can't pick out exactly what's going on. I'm not quite where I can troubleshoot code like that!!

Put in the serial number but was not offered an extended apple care plan. I guess if you purchase a new one because your old one is out of warranty you get a deal for $179 but you don't get a chance for an extended warranty. You don't get a new box or earbuds, just a brand new iPod. Good deal but since my first died under warranty, got a new one for free, second one I smashed the screen and got a new one for (I don't remember) and now the hard drive went and I paid $179 for a new one, I was hoping to get an extended warranty. Can't seem to stream mp4 video from Mac to PC
I've created some video using Handbrake on my macbook pro. I added it to my iTunes on my mac, and confirmed that it plays just fine on the mac, and also on my Apple TV2. However, when I try to play the same video on my PC, it doesn't work. It just sits and stalls iTunes.
However, when I attempt to stream a PURCHASED video (from the iTunes store), from the same mac, to the same PC, it works just fine.
I've found some reference to the problem on other forums, but, the solutions seem to not be working for me. I've tried lostify to fix the atomic parsley info (which people say is the root cause of the problem), but, no joy.
So, does anyone know how to fix video streaming via. home sharing from a mac to a pc?
Both are using iTunes10.0.1.This is a very good question. I am about to buy an AppleTV2. I also use Handbrake to copy my dvds and want to stream them to my AppleTV. Before I buy one I'd like to see what you find out. Have you tried doing an m4v format?

i just upgraded to an audigy but now when my friend and i try to initiate voice chat through x-fire and msn we can't hear each other at all, where we had no problems before...
i've got a p4 3.6ghz with gb of ram and i've disabled my onboard sound card in the bios.
i've also tested my mic and speakers through the audio tab in control panel in xp.

In the Creative Mixer, in the REC panel, make sure you have Mircrophone selected. Move the slider to your volume preference. Click on the red "+" at the top and select 20dB boost. If you want your own speakers to play what you say into the mic, then in the Source panel, un-mute Microphone. Adjust that slider to your preference. It's usually a good idea to mute any other sources you don't want.
Also, in Control Panel, Sounds and MultiMedia (or something similar for your system), Audio tab, make sure your Audigy is selected as the preferred device for Playback, Recording, etc. If you have a "Use only preferred devices" box, check it.Message Edited by Katman on 0-30-2006 07:4 PM -
Hi, I can't seem to get my ipod 32gb 4th gen to sync with itunes. It's brand new, but everytime I plug it in it says can't access Itunes store and nothing else happens. I enabled my firewall to allow itunes but it still can't access the store. Please help.
If you look at the feed, and look at the entry 'The end to an exciting field season in Aulavik National Park' you will see the line:

You have not closed the 'pubdate' tag - there should be a '>' as the 9th character. Because the tag has been left open, it invalidates everything which follows it, and thus the entire feed. iTunes therefore cannot read it, which is why the Store has not updated. Add the '>' and republish, and all should be well.
It's always worth checking your feed by subscribing manually, from the 'Advanced' menu, or by clicking the 'subscribe free' button on the Store page (both do the same thing) - if you can subscribe to the feed it should be OK. -

I have just done a custom run on my Ipod touch 2nd Gen of 12k. When I finished the run is appearing in my run history on my iPod touch, however it is not appearing in my itunes 'Nike+' tab, or on the Nike + website. I can't seem to get this run to sync and it is really annoying because I'll be loosing 12k. Can anyone help or has experienced this before? I know there are solutions to add runs to iPod nano's and older iPods using the 'Enable disk' and iPod_control function however from what I'm aware you cannot do this on an iPod touch. Can anyone please help?

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer. -
Why isn't my iTunes store loading properly? It lists everything in text without images, and I can't seem to access the store when I try to search for music or movies etc.
1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.

Can't Seem to Get my Event Based Job To Execute
What makes this slightly different than other posts on this topic is that we want to use our own queue/payload object rather than the built-in SCHEDULER$_EVENT_QUEUE. There are many reasons for this. What follows in under 11gR2 (11.2.0.3)
So, the following code blocks are just for a proof of concept piece intended to create a simple job and to have it fired based on the arrival of a message in a queue. (Something we have a requirement to do) The issue that I just can't seem to resolve is that, for some reason, the scheduler object never triggers the job. I can't find any trace or alert log entries to help me diagnose. What I do know is that the queue itself is fine (dequeues and enqueues work normally). The object payload type is fine (All of these tested from the EVENT_JOB_MGR package provided below).

I call the ENQUEUE_JOB_STATUS_MSG method to stick a message on the queue. I can confirm that it can be dequeued and logged using the DEQUEUE_JOB_STATUS_MSG method in the package. However, nothing seems to happen (at all) as far as the scheduler job when a message is put on the queue. I am thinking it should dequeue the message with status set to SUCCESS and then, kick off the job.
Can anyone see why the above wouldn't work? Been stuck here for a couple of days.

I was facing issues with both backup and FB integration after the iOs 6 upgrade. Before then I did not have any issues with the iCloud backup service, but after a few days, I noticed that it was continually stuck at the Estimating time for the backup and it never progressed.
As any good techie would, I tackled the most pressing issue first . . . FB integration of course.
I had read in a separate post about this solution so tried it . . .
I deleted the original FB app and hard booted the phone. I then went into settings and entered the data for FB integration. Seconds later, I received a text message to my phone - already listed and verified in FB with a 6 digit code to re-enter instead of my password. Seconds later I was verified and then prompted to download the FB app. All backup and integrated.
Then I went into the iCloud backup, turned it off . . . and deleted the last backup. I then re-enabled backup . . . and although I thought I was going to face the same issue, after a few minutes, it moved on from Estimating time . . . to actually backing up. It is now a small way through the backup and seems to estimate that it will take another two hours to complete.
A good nights work. Backup and integration all sewed up. Good luck.

Can't seem to figure out how to get the signature to work correctly
I am having trouble getting Digital Signatures to work on a PDF. This is the first time that I have ever tried to use them, and the first time that I used Lifecycle to convert a form instead of just building it one field at a time in Acrobat Pro.
In the past, I have gotten several PDF's that required signing. It seemed like an easy process, I clicked on the signature to sign it and then the email button to submit. The first time I did it before I had a signature, it walked me through the process of getting one set up, that was easy too.
Now, I need one, and all of the sudden, it doesn't seem so easy any more.
I have the CS3 Design suite with Acrobat Pro 8.0
I did the layout in InDesign, and the form conversion in Lifecycle. The signature fields were added there automatically, all looked good so far.
I open the file in Reader 9.0 and am unable to add a signature. I made sure that Reader 9.0 knew where my signature file was, but no matter what I do the document sign options are all greyed out.
I opened the form in Acrobat 8 and it will let me sign, but I have to immediately save/as or the signature doesn't take. I have to save it save/as twice because there are two signatures.
I figured there was some rights setting wrong, but can't find it. I have searched for signature, but can't seem to find a post that applies to my problem.
This is driving me crazy. This shouldn't be that difficult. I am missing something here.
Can anybody here shed some light on this?

Note - if you have created an email submit button on the form, then unless they have Acrobat they could only return an xml file.
The other way to do this however is to create a dataset by 'distributing' the form. This time the Email Return button will send back a full version of the form. During the distribution setup you will have the option to email the form directly or to save it and send it later,so you can send to users as and when or even post it to a website or intranet.
When you receive and open the returned form it will ask whether you want to add it to the predetermined dataset (or if you want to categorise the returns into geographical areas for example, you could create new additional datasets at this point). If the form is data heavy however, the dataset will become very large and unwieldy pretty quickly, but you can export the data from it (including signatures) in xml format and import this into an Excel spreadsheet.
To simplify the Excel xml import process I'd recommend you carefully structure your form in the hierarchy (LiveCycle) into the order you would want the data items to appear in your spreadsheet and switch off those data items that you will not need by setting the default binding for the irrelevant fields to "None".

Why can't I minimize more than 2 notepads in FF? I used to be able to minimize as many notepads as I wanted. When I do research on a topic I keep many notepads open until I am finished. FF must have done an update & now I can't do that anymore. Is there a setting I can change that will enable me to do that again?
Also at that time, the length of sentence I am typing changed.
It doesn't seem to have any limit to how far it can extend to the right.
Please help. I am not very techy & don't understand Computerese.
Please explain in everyday English.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions & helpful links to get help. I am not very computer literate. I have taken many classes over the years I've had a computer but I am still only a beginner.
I want to tell you that I found a solution to my problem. I finally realized that maybe FF was not the problem but Wind. 7 on my new comp. I went on the 7 Forums & found another person who had the same problem & the answer was simple all I had to do was to right click on the Notepad icon & it would bring up a new Notepad & I could open & minimize as many as I want. I had moved the Notepad icon to my taskbar from the Start menu when I got my new computer.
I have one more question for you. The notepad 2 program was mentioned there along with several others. I think it was about that prog. that someone said that it could open many notepads & when you closed the comp. the notepads would not disappear. Do you know if it was that program? Also is it possible to use that program the same way as I used the original Notepad? There are so many technical options on that program that I didn't understand. All I want to do is open the Notepad & copy & paste my notes in it & minimize them. Not losing them if I shut down the comp. would be real benefit to me. I believe that is the same prog. you recommended to me. Since you seem to understand tech things I thought maybe you could tell me if that is possible?
