Amber update not getting completed since my batter...

My Amber update is stuck since my battery died during the update inspite of my charger being connected. Now it just shows battery low and a gear icon to show updating. But then it goes off after a few minutes, displaying a blank screen.
I tried Hard resetting the phone but it doens't work. What must I do now?

They've changed it in iOS and updates (and updates ONLY) do not require a password since it is really unnecessary as they have it on record that you were the one who bought the app. Why is more security needed, you aren't going to be charged for anything?
Next time you update and app go to the App Store and try to buy something. You will be asked for your password.

What the hell is going on, amber is not available on the air for 720 in India, all the owners are rushing at care centre because it is not available over the air till now , it is available since 2days , for indian devices , make it available over the air , or go to hell, its not fair

If the update is on the Nokia servers that does not mean it is ready and available to end users for the OTA update. While a Nokia Care Point could flash it for you that will also wipe the device.

I'm using Lumia 520 and its been two month I hv been trying to update it to get FM radio which is in Windows Amber Update as mentioned on Nokia web...but EVERY TIME IT SAYS THAT YOUR PHONE IS UPTODATE HOVEVER IT IS NOT!!!..I LIve in Pakistan,..please tell me way to update it manually or else.thanks

When and where did you purchase the phone? What connection are you using, cellular data or Wi-Fi?
Your phone notifies you once an update is available. We ask you to be patient, as updates for Nokia Lumia range are always released gradually. To make sure you don’t miss out on the notification, check on your phone that under Settings > Phone Update > “Tell me when updates are available for my phone” is enabled.
In the meantime, make sure that the phone's system settings are up-to-date. You may check this app: Lumia System Updater. Then, try to check for the available update again.
Let us know the outcome.

820 Amber update not recognised

My phone refuses to recognise the the amber update is available, (State available on your support site: August 28th)
O2 UK lumia 820,
Why would this be the case and is there anyway to rectify this other than a phone reset.

I have a CV GB 820 as well and the update is listed as "Coming soon" whch means we should hopefully be getting it in days. See the link below.

Amber Update not working!!!

hi all..
i went for the update in my lumia 720, everything went fine till the phone restarted.. After that, i am seeing the processing since 3 hurs, the screen shows two settings icon, rotating.. i am uunabl to do anything, triedhardrestarting, but still the same problem..
i am unable to access the phone.. theprocessing icon is still on..
feels like hell..

Have you tried:-
1- Wait till phone battery completely dies
2- Remove Sim
3- Put phone on wall charger
4- Let charger charge the phone and turn itself on automatically (do not power it on Manually)

I am using Lumia 720.In Nokia support site it's showing update is available but when I try to update it's showing phone is up-to-date.I bought my phone from UAE and am now in India.plz help.

If I'm not mistaken, Mauritius is located on Africa right? You might want to check on this link: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/.
If you haven't got the update yet, you can try turning 'on' and 'off' the airplane mode on your phone by going to settings > airplane mode. Then try to connect to your router again and manually check for the update by going to settings > phone update. We ask you to be patient as the software update for the Nokia Lumia range are being released gradually.

Another Safari display problem - not the same as others

Hello,
Has anyone seen this happen and know what is going on? This affects both Safari and Explorer but doesn't affect Camino or other browsers.

Unfortunately it does not solve the problem. Anyway, this can't be just related to Safari cache as it seems to affect IE too. (Not that I'm using IE). On top of that, if I create a brand new user and go try it, it still looks the same. I doubt a brand new user would have a cache problem since there is no cache for that user yet!!
Is this exactly the kind of thing you saw with your problem? I wish your solution worked. For now, I've switched to using FireFox instead, but I'm nervous that this Safari behavior is just a pre-amble of something else that is wrong with my system.

Routes from BGP network statements are not tagged same as other BGP routes?

I have a question if BGP treats the routes it advertised by using the network statements the same way as the routes it learned or redistributed.
Here is what I did:
bgp 65113
network 1.2.3.4 mask 255.255.255.0
redistribute static route-map STATIC_INTO_BGP
ip route 1.2.3.4 255.255.255.0 null0
ip route ....
route-map STATIC_INTO_BGP permit 10
match ip address prefix-list STATIC_INTO_BGP
set community 65113:100
I had all the static routes, including the one to null0, in the prefix-list STATIC_INTO_BGP. So those routes could be tagged with the community value.
I found out that all the routes in the prefix list were tagedd correctly except for the one to null0 (the one advertised by the BGP network statement). I had to create a seperate prefix list just for this route and add to the route map to have it tagged correctly.
So my question is: is this how BGP supposed to function or did I do it incorrectly?

Thanks all for the help. I agree that if the static route is redistributed into BGP, there's no need to have a BGP network statement again.
How about this scenario:
I have a static route:
ip route 1.2.3.0 255.255.255.0 null0
I don't redistribute it into BGP, instead I use a network statement:
bgp xxxxx
network 1.2.3.0 mask 255.255.255.0
I create a prefix list and route map to tag it:
ip prefix-list set-community permit 1.2.3.0/18 le 32
route-map set-community permit 10
match ip address prefix-list set-community
set community xxxxx:100
Would this set the right community for 1.2.3.0/24 (and other length in the range 18-32)? IN thise case, I used a network statement not a redistribution.

Not able to read other than text files

Hi,
I am trying to read a set files in a folder, but i am able to read only test files all other file format cannot be read. word document is not read correctly!
I use fileInputstream object and get the bytes of the file length and set the charset to "UTF-8". the output is like a junk data.
I feel i need to set the exact charcterset, but donot no how, can any body help me out.
i tried character.unicodeblock.of this is not returning the exact uincode( may be i am wrong)

Don't read binary files as though they were text.
Also if you are just copying files, you shouldn't even bother to read text files as text, unless you want to go beyond copying and, say, change the encoding.

Tiger does not know what to do with some files

I have lots of old files that do not have extensions so Tiger does not know what to do with them, Get info displays the files as Unix Executable Files. Is there anything I can do to figure out what the files really are?

Open the Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, type in the following:

followed by a space, and then drag the items into it. The Terminal will then make an attempt to determine what format each file's content is.

Safari logs me out of logged in web pages - not the same problem as other similar post - please read.

Before you crucify me please read the problem I've outlined below, because it's not the same issue other people are having. I did research the forums for the particular issue I'm having and it's not the same as what's already been posted. Please let me explain.
Here is my machine info.
iMac running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 on 2.5 GHZ Intel core.
Safari Version 5.1.7
I run two instances of Safari. I will have 1 safari browser window open on the left side of my screen with 7 tabs all on pages that require login. I run a second instance of Safari on the right side of my screen with only one tab open logged into 1 web page.
Here's what happens. Ocassionaly when switching the focus from one browser to the other all of my logged in web pages will refresh and I'll be logged out of all my logged in web pages, on both open browsers. There's never a certain amount of time that this happens, I've had it happen 3-4 hours into my work day and I've had it happen 10 minutes into my work day. I've also had this occure when I'm putting the focus from one browser window to the other and then I go to resize the width of the window I just put the focus on.
I'm thinking that there must be some setting or short cut "gesture" built into Safari that I'm triggering to make this happen, however I have looked at all the settings and can't seem to find anything that would cause this.
Any help or advice is apprecaited.

BDAqua - I have two Safari windows open - I guess in my semi technical mind that equated to two instances. But your probably right, just one instance of app with two windows open.
About two minutes after I posted my question, I was doing some work in one of my tabbed web pages, as I pressed the submit button to update the record on that page and as the page was refreshing I clicked my mouse on the second open Safari window to put the focus on that window, as soon as I put the focus on the second open browser I got logged out of all my logged in tabs in both windows.
The time it happened was sometime between 14:30 and 14:35
I'm looking at the Sytem Log. IN the filter I typed Safari and nothing came up from today in the log.
Just looking at "All Messages" between the hours of 1430 and 1435 their are no messages about safari, just the following.

Since uploading Firefox 4 I get error messages saying it can't update and I should be sure I am using the latest version. I am, so why will updates not load?

1355 the spec domain could not be contacted 1355, other AD mess

I've inherited a mess here. What I have is an environment with 1) Windows Server 2003 Std (vm) 2) Server 2008 R2 (vm) running on a 2008 R2 Hyper V host. Both servers were DC's. The problem is that when pointing DNS to either DC, there would
be all kinds of different errors such as access denied or domain controller couldn't be contacted, etc. I also noticed that they were not replicating with each other for some time. When specifying DNS to only use a specific DC, users could connect
to shares on one server but not the other.
I have run restores from the last good backups, but apparently this was a problem even at that point and restores would produce the same results.
After running the BPA on the 2008 R2 OS for AD, it came up all errors. I proceeded under the premise that this server was more corrupt than the other, and knowing I can still go back to the backups I do have, I decided to do a dcpromo /forceremoval
after a graceful demotion wouldn't work. At this point I was able to see that 1) was a GC, and it held all the fsmo roles.
I could also access ADUC and ADSS from 1) so I proceeded. I ran a metadata cleanup on 1) and then proceeded.
It's somewhat back as now I can access servers by dnsname (I couldn't before and that's what started all of this), but I can't add machines to the domain, nor can I promote the host OS to a DC (hoping that after a promo of a different server I could gracefully
remove 1) ).
I also saw that SYSVOL didn't show as a share on the 1) server although the directory exists. I went to share it, but it couldn't populate a list of locations so I shared it to Everyone with Read access.
I then ran dcdiag and get the following failures:

So you have tried to demote the 2008 R2 DC and failed then you force-remove it and cleanup metadata, but realized it was holding FSMO roles?
Looks like all dcdiag tests are failing since you lost FSMO roles, realiable time source (which was this DC as PDC), GC. Kinda like a forest/domain recovery if i meay say.
I believe you can to do a seize operations of FSMO roles to the DC that is still running, make it a GC and set it as NTP realiable time source for the domain. Then after you test health you can promote the 2008 R2 back under a different name as additional
DC and go from there.

Some files not previewing in Bridge CS4, only showing icons

This is not new but I finally got to the point where I'm bothered enough to write. I'm browsing folders that have Illustrator, Photoshop, and .tif files, and some files preview, and some just show the icon of the file type. What needs to happen for me to be able to preview ALL the files in the folder I'm browsing? b.t.w., it's not just this folder - it's happened before with other folders and there seems to be no sense to it - some folders I browse everything shows up, others only some files preview and others are as described above. Thanks for any advice...

I would go to tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder. Let the thumbs rebuild and see how it acts. It is best not to start a new action until the spinning wheel in lower right corner stops to indicate it is finished.
