I dont know which errors you get but sometimes you may get errors due to high server load, be patient and try checking updates later.

  • Problem with my Lumia 928... started after Amber update.

First, I to state that I love my Lumia 928 and the Windows Phone 8 OS. Second, I've been a Third-Party Microsoft developer for over 14 years and just started developing for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. So, I'm not a normal consumer but one that will try everything in my toolbox before asking for help or even writing posts like this.
    History:
As of October 6, 2013, Verizon is sending me a new phone (not guaranteed to be new. ) to see if that fixes the issue
Used for work and personal emails so I can't just go and do a "hard" reset without have extreme headaches.Last resort before I get my "new" phone, I've broken down and started doing a "hard" reset (actually this is my second time).
No damage to the phone (Verizon employee has confirmed these, hence the new replacement)
    No cracked screen
    No frame cracked
    No water damage
Shortly after the Amber update, I started having problems. In order of oldest issue first.
Lock upsRandom apps just freeze. No rhyme or reason. No pattern. Just all over the board.
No touch responseSide buttons work but that does be no good when I can't select anything on the screen. Solution, "soft" reset and things are good... for a while.
Phone call speakerStarted losing phone calls. Thought it was a signal issue until I noticed that the call were not actually dropped. Speaker just started cutting in and out (completely) and sometimes it would just dim to almost nothing and then come back.
    Microsoft account
This is new as of October 5, 2013
October 4, 2013, nothing was wrong. Then the next day, my Live account associated with my phone stopped working. Keeps saying "Not up to-date". Had to create another account to get my emails. As of today, it's still not working. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the error code so I can't post that here.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues after the Amber update and if so, what did you do to resolve it (if you did)?
    Thanks,
    Stu

The Amber update came to our Lumia 928 and we had just activated it like one or two weeks prior, so we were just getting to know the phone.  In answer to your difficulties following the Amber update:

Lock upsRandom apps just freeze. No rhyme or reason. No pattern. Just all over the board.  The only "freeze" or app problem I recall is the GREEN SCREEN when opening the camera, happened once, and a power off and restart fixed it.  The problem has not come back, to date (this was several weeks ago).
No touch responseSide buttons work but that does be no good when I can't select anything on the screen. Solution, "soft" reset and things are good... for a while.  I have heard of this happening to others, but I have not personally experienced the screen freeze issue.

Speaker just started cutting in and out (completely) and sometimes it would just dim to almost nothing and then come back. I've had this happen on a couple of calls - the caller becomes very garbled and static filled.  I've had to hang upand call back - and they say the same thing happens on  their end, my voice is all garbled, like I'm underwater or something.  Not all calls, and not frequently, but maybe once every couple of weeks.

My screen is cracked due to a drop, prior to the Amber update.  (Yeah, it was nearly brand new when I dropped it   )  That doesn't seem to affect the overall function of the phone though.
So, to sum, I am experiencing some of the issues you described, but I'm not sure it's Amber, maybe just the phone design itself.  I don't know that a "new" phone will resolve things either.  Please do keep us posted...

  • AT&T and Lumia Amber Update DELAYS and delivery ti...

    1) AT&T customers who are also Lumia owners now know that AT&T missed the Nokia deadline for all Lumia phones receiving the Amber update by 9/30/2013.
    2) Here is an AT&T Facebook session I had with Nicole L. yesterday. You will note their (AT&T's) best answer is we affirmatively will receive the update in a few weeks:
My post - "AT&T Decision Makers (particularly in AT&T Mobility),
Several hours ago we passed 9/30/2013. Over a month ago the Nokia Corporation published a statement (see http://conversations.nokia.com/2013/08/30/lumia-amber-your-questions-answered/ ) that Amber updates would roll-out world-wide by 9/30/2013.
Along the past month, queries to customer care reps and social media "managers" about the release date of Amber (and GDR2) were routinely met with condescending replies that we're (AT&T) working as quickly as possible, please be patient, stay tuned, updates can be challenging to implement properly, and so on.
Now, several thousand Lumia owners who are AT&T customers are left to ask two questions. The first requires only an affirmative or negative response, the second an actual calendar date.
    1) Are Nokia Lumia owners who are AT&T customers going to receive via OTA the Amber (Pr2) and GDR2 updates?
    2) If #1 is answered in the affirmative, then what exactly is the AT&T deadline for OTA availability? If answered in the negative, exactly why are your customers not going to receive a manufacturer certified equipment update?
Thank you for your prompt and concise reply."
AT&T's reply: "AT&T Affirmative, Michael. Our best answer is a few weeks. It's been a long road, but I hope you'll be happy with the update when it gets to your device. Thanks for your patience! - Nicole L. "
In a conversation I had with AT&T Customer Care rep "LaTonya", she was unable to confirm a timeframe. I made mention of the fact that when Apple sneezes AT&T gets a cold; however when Nokia speaks AT&T yawns. LaTonya enjoyed my observation.
Is there a way to press Nokia USA corporate into advocacy on our behalf?
    Thanks!

    Actually what it said was:
With Lumia Amber we expect to have the update arriving in all Lumia Windows Phone 8 phones by the end of September. Be patient – it’s coming!
So there is no deadline like you claim and Nokia would never make such claims. That said, you bought an ATT device made by Nokia and as such ATT is the company ultimately responsible for this. It is up to them to approve the update and allow it to be made available to their product(range).

  • AT&T Amber Update Lumia 920

I was the first person in my state to have a white 920. It was the only one available according to the rep, to the dismay of everyone in line behind me. (I was first in line at the store ) I have been amazingly pleased with the updates, in both speed of release and quality. Up til now.
My girlfriend liked my phone so much that she bought the 928 when it came out for verizon. But she has received the Amber update. Its been about a month since she has updated her phone to Amber but according to AT&T, its still waiting for approval!!!
I understand that it is up to the carrier to release the update, but it is leading me to believe that either AT&T is dropping priority of Windows Phone or something isnt right with the update. They used to roll out updates almost immediately. I know i'm being impatient, but it is already early September, the latest that we were supposed to get the update. It is almost mid September.
What's the hold up? Is Nokia fixing issues that were causing problems on AT&T's network, or is the priority of WP slipping?

It is September 27,and AT&T still has not released the Amber update. This isn't news to anybody waiting for the update, but I want to state the facts. Nokia released a statement that all Lumia handsets would receive the update by September 30th, which gives big blue 3 more days to release the update before stated timeframe expires. It also give Nokia 3 days to address any possible issues with the update that might delay the release further. At this point, I continue to hold out hope that one or the other occurs.
However, if neither the update is released by AT&T, nor another public statement is issued by Nokia regarding delays by the 30th of September, you will start to see posts on every public forum and social media available slamming BOTH companies for not supporting their customers.
    These are the facts.
If anyone from Nokia or AT&T cares to respond, consider this a formal request.
    Sincerely,
A loyal customer and supporter of Nokia and Windows Phone since day one.

  • Just download the Amber update for my 820 - proble...

Just downloaded Amber update. Some nice features added...if they worked.
The glance screen is set to peek and clock and notifications --> on. night mode --> off
When i hover my hand over the display, all i get is the clock but no notifications or battery symbol. I still need to to press the button on the side to see i have a new message/missed call.
When i turn clock and notifications off, but glance mode set to peek, the glance screen does not appear at all, which is the expected behavior.  All the other glance mode settings (always on, interval) do not show notifications or battery life either - just the clock.
The double tap to wake also does not work.  Can anyone shed some light on this problem please, i have already tried a soft reset.
PS i am a keen Q.A. tester, so if Nokia need help testing/resolving defects - i am your man!

  • Amber update for 920, KPN/Hi provider

I have a Nokia 920 and I'm still checking if the Amber is available in the Netherlands. My telecom-provider KPN/Hi.
Still no updates and my provider Hi doesn't give a definite answer.
Can I update my Nokia from somewhere else, in any way?
Is it possible that Nokia can contact KPN/Hi to make sure they provide the update?
    Thanks

    Hi Marten,
As this is a Dutch issue, check out this thread: http://www.wp7.nl/forum/f17/algemeen-windows-phone-nieuws/5616-uitrol-amber-update-voor-lumias-begon... when KPN starts rolling out, forum members will mention it there.

  • Lumia 620 - Trouble in getting Amber updates.

    Hi,
As we have almost reached end of September and most of us are yet to get Amber update on 620 via OTA.
Anyone has got Amber updates so far via OTA in India (Chennai)? If yes, what is the FW version number? Is it 1030.6407.1308.0001 or 1030.6407.1308.0002?
I have read in some forums that Amber updates are avialble for 1030.6407.1308.0002 FW version. Is that true? What is the difference between 1030.6407.1308.0001 and 1030.6407.1308.0002?
If it is really true, how can we update our FW to 1030.6407.1308.0002? Whenevr I check for updates it shows that my phone is already up to date (Hate to see this )
    Not sure what to do.

Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't do it if I am going to lose all my existing data and applications.
As long as you have the backup option activated you will get all phone settings, SMS messages and the applist back when you register the phone after the update. It is important to know you must be on Mobile data when you do this and this must be done during the device first use setup. For this to be possible the settings for mobile data need to be on the SIM as the phone will read these at that time. Once the restore is complete you can continue the automated download of your apps over Wi-Fi.
What you will have to do manually is to arrange the startscreen again.

  • 4G option missing on Lumia 820 after Amber update

    Hi
I bought Lumia 820 from singapore (Starhub variant), it was SIM-unlock can use any SIM. i came back to my country Bangladesh. it was working like a power house. i'm ok with the performance. later i faced one power problem issue. i took my handset to Nokia Service center. they fixed the problem as we ll as update my firmware to amber update (which i didnt request to do for Nokia care official. they did it by their own), it was working good, all new feature data sense, sms call block, nokia smart cam, radio etc. every things works fine but i found 4G option is not available in the data selection mode. only 2G & 3G is available. later i checked in nokia web site and found the FW version is for bangladesh only. my question is the FW blocked the 4G option due to no 4G service provider or any other issue. i chose 820 only for LTE option because i traveled a lot to SGP and KL for business purpose and their is 4G service available.
again yesterday my phone got restarted automatically after that i can not sync google contact (only) and my SMS+Call Block option is wiped from the settings menu.
can any one suggest how i can solve this without going to Nokia Care center because local nokia care center service is not good enough to deal with. if no one is available answer my question than i need to visit NOKIA CARE center.
thanks and welcoming expert opinion from expert/pro users.
    cheers
    Sayeed

    hi mate,
if the 4G option was initially present on the phone when you bought it from Singapore, it appears that your local Nokia Care point has flashed the Amber update for your local region (Bangladesh). as LTE services are not widely available in your country, as you have rightly said, 4G is not present in the options.
unfortunately in this case, there is nothing you can do except to go back to Nokia Care and tell them to put the initial firmware (w/Amber, mind you) back onto your device as that was why you bought the device (to use 4G services).

  • Newbie: I am lost as to the Amber update process

Hey, I don't know when I'll receive the Amber update. I know that there's a list that shows you the update availability by country and carrier. The problem is that I live in a small country called Guyana that doesn't make it on to the list. So is there some way that I can get the update? Does Nokia have a solution for niche users that aren't on some big carrier? Or am just left behind? Would love to know because I need the updated battery life and processing API to curb my 920's overheating problem.
UPDATE: My phone was purchased overseas through the American Bestbuy website
     SKU :1463241
    UPC : 899794011237

Here's my info (no carrier listed and no carrier branding on phone). I can't figure out what variant this phone is. I know RM 820 signifies North American but the full manufacturer code is RM-820_Ita_Ita1_275 and I can't find any reference to it on the net. It's not a knockoff phone. I purchased it from Bestbuy and the features, MS services, camera quality and previous OS updates all came through fine. The last time I updated my phone was a few weeks ago when I recieved an update notification and performed the update over wifi without flashing or plugging into the computer. Does Nokia have a public list of phone variants? At this point I'm thinking that it has to be dependent on AT&T since the RM-820 in the manufacturer code signifies North American and AT&T is the only carrier with Amber pending.

  • Recharge Lumia properly and Amber's problem.

    Hi,
My Lumia 520 have been updated to Amber couple of days ago. I've noticed some problems:
    - Battery seems to discharge quicker than before. When battery is fully charged, there's 27hrs left, while it was 30hrs left before Amber update.
    - WiFi was not automatically turned off when I locked the screen.
Btw, I wonder how to recharge Lumia properly.
    - I've read some articles about how to recharge Li-ion battery. They said that the battery should be maintained 40%-80%, and I should not charge my phone 100% and leaving it unused for hours.
However, on Nokia product support site, they said "always charged your phones fully" to extend battery life (???)
    - On WP forums, people advised me to unplug the recharger as soon as the battery is full. Because, unlike Symbian, Windows Phone could not shut the circuit down and prevent electricity from going through the phone, which harms the battery and the hardware (???)
Please show me how to fix these problems and how to recharge tmy Lumia 520 properly.
    Thanks a lot.

The update probably reset the battery calibration, just use the phone and it will re-calibrate.
You should just charge when you know you'll have a few hours to charge and the battery is around 20-30%. You can charge to full without a problem and there is no need to disconnect a Nokia charger when the battery has been charged fully. Obviously whatever is applicable for 3rd party chargers is your own risk.

  • 928 Post Amber Update Stability

I have seen a number of conversations on this site as well as other Windows Phone forums of people asking how to power off the 928 because the screen has "frozen".
I bought my 928 in May of this year shortly after it's release and not once did I ever have to do a hard power down (volume down + power button for 10-15 seconds) because of a frozen display.  It is now an almost daily occurrence since the Amber firmware update.  It is even worse if "Double tap to wake up" is enabled.  PLEASE, if anyone at Verizon Wireless is paying attention in hear, I am begging you to report this issue with Nokia and insist on a patch to correct the problem.  What was a stable phone on a stable platform is suddenly going Android on me ever day and I (along with thousands of other users) are not happy.

All I can say really is congratulations, and I hope both you and demmo86rt haven't both jinxed yourselves.
There is no common pattern but the screen is always unlocked when it happens.  Sometimes I am talking on the phone, sometimes switching between apps, sometimes trying to post a comment to a feed in the people hub. The marked uptick of new threads in various forums asking how to "unfreeze" the 928 (how to kill power) since the Amber update rolled out can't be a coincidence.  It's not EVERY day, but pretty much every day I use the device heavily I can count on a blowup.

  • Amber Update Missing Items

I just set up my husband's new Nokia Lumia 928; I've had mine for a couple of weeks and his just arrived. Everything went well, including the Amber update; I checked the software version number plus re-checked for updates and got the message his phone was up to date. However, under Display, Glance is missing, and under Display > Touch, "Double tap to wake up phone" is missing.  (Maybe other pieces are missing; I know about those two because I wanted to set them up for him.)
Thoughts? I can call Nolia tomorrow, but wondered if others had missing "pieces," and if doing a re-set is the way to go. Thanks.

I have the same phone as your husband and I did the AMBER update I got the features you mentioned.  The only feature that I noticed was missing was the FM radio in the Xbox Music section but from what I have seen that feature appears to be missing on a lot of a VZW windows phone 8 devices.  Perhaps the update did miss those two features and a hard reset might fix the problem. Before proceeding with the hard reset do one or both of the following if they have not been done so already 1 Set up Backup Assistant Plus and do a full Sync. If the service is already set up check the date of the last sync and do a manual sync if the date is older than a few days and you know your husband has added, changed, or deleted contacts.  2.  On his Microsoft Account set up the the back up service for that as well and make sure that a recent sync has been completed.  I do not know of any way to back up his app data such as gave saves, in-app purchases, and so on but a record of the apps he downloaded both free and paid will be kept on his Microsoft Account and he can re-download them again after the reset.

  • Update problem - VBDATA table

    Dear All,
We have update problems in our Quality systems, and also in every R/3 system that we create from a Production system copy.
Sometime the UPD and UP2 work processes hung without apparent reason.
In the SM50 I can see one or more of my update processes running for a lot of time (many hours) on the table VBDATA without perform any action.
In the tcode SM12 I donu2019t see any kind of lock, and I donu2019t understand why only sometime this problem happens.
Of course, from the SM13 I can see that during this problem the system is not able to perform any kind of update.
As I told in the beginning of the message, I have the same problem in other two R/3 systems, both created with a system copy from the production system.
The Production and the Developer systems seem not affected by this problem.
Have you got any idea about the reason of the problem?
Even if the Production systems is not directly affected, all the IT department is not able to work on the Quality system (or any other Test system), and the only workaround is to kill the UPD (or UP2) WPs affected.
    Thanks in advance,
    Federico Biavati
    My R/3 System is a 4.7 on SLES9 and Oracle 10.2.0.2

    Hello Siva,
    This is what I did:
    > Check how many entries do you have in VBDATA currently.
More than 1.000 in every SAP systems that Iu2019m creating from Production
    > You might want to run the reorganize updates program to clear the old updates
    > that are pending/in error
    Good point!!
After the reorganization (ST14 u2013 Reorganize update requests) the table VBDATA is empty.
Iu2019ll check and Iu2019ll let you know if the problem is definitively solved.
    Thanks for you help,
    Federico
