Ambitious project for an Apple Remote.

Guys, Apple Discussion forums are probably not optimum for this post but...
Is there any way to use the remote control with an Sony Ericsson with infrared port, let's say the W810i? Maybe there's an app out there to do this.
I would find it very handy if it was possible.
George...

You see, my mobile phone is my everything: music player, calendar, address book, emergency-camera and above all my phone. It perfectly syncronize with my Mac, so, I'm very happy with it.
Since it has a infrared port I was hoping it could be used as a receiver and use precisely the Apple Remote to do the traditional stuff: sound up and down, play/pause and next and previous song.
By all means I've never thought on altering the Apple Remote, but on loading the phone somehow (with a small app perhaps) to do this. It'd be an iPod + Dock, two in one.
Thank you.

  • HT3176 What is the numerical remote code for the apple remote? I would like to program another manufacturers remote to control my iPod dock

I would like to control my iPod doc with my Denon remote.  Does anyone know he numerical remote code for an apple iPod doc?

    Hi kwg06516,
This remote(RMT-B126A) doesn't have programmable codes because its not a universal remote. It is exclusive for your player(BDP-S3200) only. It may control other devices such as TVs but with the same brand only.

  • I needed to buy a new battery for my Apple Remote

I thought that it might be helpful for other users to know that if their brand new Apple Remote is not working, it may be because the CR2032 battery is old. In my case, I had to think why was my new Apple Remote not working:
    1) the battery was old
    2) the Remote was broken
    3) the computer sensor was broken
I am glad that after spending $4.49 cents at the local Ace that as soon as I hit menu, the Apple Remote screen came up on my Mac.

i need to buy a new battery for my Macbook 13-inch aluminum, late 2008 (A1280) .. ... and i can´t find it at the Apple Store Web, please help me

  • His there a widget for dashboard which i can use to turn the infrared functionality for my apple remote on and off quickly?

As many of you i suppose, i have a universal dock and a macbook pro.
Now because this dock and my MBP are often in the same room and both react to the remote, it would be handy if there was a widget which i could use to temporarily turn of my infrared port of the macbook, when i want to use my remote for the dock only.
If i only want to use the remote for my macbook it's simple, i just unplug my iphone, but if i want to do the opposite, use it only for my dock while working on the computer i have to complete several steps in the system preferences before i can get what i want.
So is there an easy way (i was thinking a widget in the dashboard) to get around this?
thx in advance for your thoughts!

Unfortunetally, No and no.  Apple TV is a closed API so developers are right now unable to create an app that is very compatible to connect to Apple TV.  There is also no remote app on the Mac App Store.
Let me know if this solves your questions or if you have any others,
    Thanks,
    Allen

  • How to stop itunes to react to the play key and apple remote?

    Hi,
I guess this one is a popular one:
How can I stop iTunes from starting anytime I hit the "Play" / F8 key? The same for the Apple remote.
I don't want to use iTunes for music playback (It just can't handle my library and lacks tons of options like browse by date, etc.) other players have. I just need it to pump stuff into my iPod Touch (otherwise would have simply removed it from the system completely).
I am using an iMac and Macbook Pro with OSx 10.6.4.
Any working solutions appreciated; ideally an undocumented switch in the OS.
@Apple: This is annoying. The system is all about ease of use and most of the time it works great. Running into an issue like this is simply negating the whole philosophy.
    Thanks and regs

this takes a while but if you want to hear the end of your songs do this:
    1.right click on a song
    2.click on the options tab
3.there is a space that reads: stop time. change that time to five seconds later and you will hear the end of the song
    hope this helps

  • How can I use apple remote with Mountain Lion? Any Front Row alternative?

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
All great except for my Apple Remote control.
Before, I could effectively control my iMac media with Apple Remote by using Front Row (music, photos, videos, good integration with iTunes and iPhoto).
Now, as I understand, Front Row is expired.
So, my Apple remote still works but with very limited options (just music, forward, backward and volume), and it's a real pity.
Any of you Guys know how to restore Front Row?
Otherwise maybe suggest an alternative (sth similar, should allow iMac media control by Apple Remote)?
So far I tried to restore all Front Row files by a Time Capsule Snow Leopard backup (as indicatred on some other Communities).
To restore was easy, but then, no way to launch it.
    Any advice will help!
    Thanks in advance/all the best.
    Marco

Thanks Klaus1 for your prompt answer, although I went again through a dated discussion.
I also got the feeling that somehow they want to push Apple TV..
But, respectfully speaking towards our Friends at Apple, is it fair to promise what you don't deliver?
I have choosen apple because I percive it's different.
    At currently published link: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC377Z/A/apple-remote
    they do promote the following:
    Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver. Not compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Cost for this is 15£ (19€).
Now, I have iMac and Mac Book Pro (no retina display) both with Mountain Lion installed, and I understand both of them are not compatible with Front Row.
Actually I adore apple tv and I got 2 at home nicely working on 2 different TVs.
So I accomplished twice their wish of selling this product to me.
Why shall they deceive me (and many others, as I read) by killing a still promised service?
Should I read all forums before buying a trusted-brand-product like apple, to ensure that id does what declared?
Don't get me wrong, I'm an enthusiast user of the whole apple family, since many years, and still I am.
Just politely complaining for this decision, which creates to Many an easy avoidable disservice.
    Cheers
    Marco

  • Apple Remote stopped working with Lion on iMac

My white Apple Remote does not work with Lion on my iMac 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo anymore.
I'm sure it was working recently as I was able to control the volume on my RadioShark application.  Now that doesn't work anymore and I can't seem to get the remote to work with anything.
I've tried restarting my iMac, swapping the remote's battery, and using another remote but still no success.  The only response I get is from the remote's 'Menu' button which, when pressed, toggles between two graphics on screen - one a four-way arrow indicator with a centre button, and the other what appears to be a Forward/Back, Centre button with corner indications for Expand/Shrink.
I've tried the 'Pair' option but pressing 'Menu' and 'Fast Forward' does nothing on screen - no sign of the chain-link 'Paired' symbol. Neither of the white remotes I tried is 'Paired' with the iMac.
It seems I must have done something to cause this but can't think of any change I made that could be responsible.  I know Front Row is no longer accessible in Lion, but is there any other app I could test my remote on?  Any kind of hardware reset needed? (unlikely, I know, with two separate remotes showing the problem).
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

I'm replying to my own question because my remotes are working again.
I'm not sure what I did to fix the issue, but I tried shutting down all open applications (I remembered that by default Lion re-opens with everything as it was).  And shortly afterwards I got full functionality back for my Apple Remote.
I'm not sure what caused the issue.  I did install Easy Timeline, which I'd downloaded today from the Mac App Store.  It has Apple Remote functionality, so I'm not sure if it was in some way implicated.  It's working now with my remote, as is iTunes, and RadioShark.
    Weird!

  • Apple remote & Flash

I have a macbook pro and it came with an Apple remote. I
would love to be able to make presentations similar to powerpoint,
but with Flash. Would anyone know if it is possible?

Couldn't find any info on what keys are assigned for the
apple remote. But I found a website (
    http://www.iospirit.com ) that
sells software that lets you assign whatever key you want to
whatever button for whatever application. Oh the
    possibilities...

  • Apple Remote and iTunes

Some time ago, I changed the setting for my Apple remote such that once iTunes is open and I press the menu button, iTunes becomes hidden.
Now, it has become a nuisance as once iTunes is open, the remote will do nothing else but hide iTunes when I press the menu button.
I've been trying really hard to figure out where to go to change this setting but to no avail.... can anybody help me?!

    Hi,
    I have had and fixed a similar issue;
    Setup;
Linksys ADSL router/model (4 port wired and wireless)
    LAN Network = 192.168.0.x
Mac Mini wired into the router (on same LAN)
Airport Express wireless (driving my stereo speakers and acting as a wireless client on the same LAN)
Apple iPhone 3GS wireless with Apple Remore app
iTunes 9.blah (last 9.x version before 10 havent upg yet, iTunes all configured to use airtunes, remote speakers and remote app etc)
Now It will all work fine and dandy at first then if i stop itunes (and the remote app disconnects) after a while (5 to 10 mins) the mac goes to sleep to save power.
The mac doesnt wake up again to accept the connection from the remote app.
So I found an apple support article (cant find it now) that suggested that I set the "wake on lan" feature, this wakes the mac and itunes if the mac has slept. Its in the system preferences / energy saver (its something like "wake on lan" or "wake on network")
    This fixes it for me.
    Cheers

  • Disable Apple Remote On Windows 7?

I am running Windows 7 on my iMac and installed the driver for the Apple Remote. Now whenever I use any type of remote in my room, it wakes the computer up from sleeping. How can I disable the remote function from my Windows 7 partition to avoid other remotes from waking up my PC? Apple really needs to have a solid update for Windows 7 64bit.
    Thanks in advanced.

I think you will find that if the Service: "Human Interface Device Access"
is disabled, the remote will not work. Hopefully there are no other HIDs
that you need to have service started for.
This works for me with an old HP remote that was for PC MCE and is good for iTunes, Media Player etc.
The only problem I can't avoid is a neon lamp in the room when turned off
kills my TV App. if it is running.

  • Original iMac G5 now running Leopard - How to add Apple Remote?

I'd like to use my iMac G5 to run Front Row and play music and movies through my HDTV. I'm already connected to the TV, so that's not an issue.
How do I add an Apple Remote to this, for use with Front Row? I know I can use the wireless keyboard to control it, but the WAF (wife acceptance factor) for that solution is low. All the new Macs have built in IR, but not this first gen model, so I'm not sure how to do this. (I think I could add a third party remote like the KeySpan, but I'd rather use the Apple Remote if possible.)
(I did see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7384584 , but it doesn't exactly address my wish for the Apple Remote)
While we're on the topic, my HDTV is being used as a second monitor. Works well for displaying videos and such in iTunes and from various other sources. How does this work with FrontRow, though? (The displays are NOT mirrored.) Does it show on both screens, or is there a way to force it to show on one display or the other?

How does this work with FrontRow, though?
Front Row will only display on the "main" monitor. That is, the monitor that's showing the Dock and menubar. You will probably need to use the Displays System Preferences to change the main display to the HDTV.

  • 10.6 : widgets in dashboard & apple remote

So I upgraded today and it went pretty well. I am having problems with some dashboard widgets but assume they just need upgrades. One strange thing is that my apple remote does not work now. Am I crazy, or do I remember having to "sync" the remote to my imac when they were new?. Or is it some other issue.
    Dave

I had the same problem. I upgraded from OS 10.5.7 to OS 10.6 (SL). When running Software Update, it showed that a newer version of Apple Remote Desktop (3.3.1) was a critical program that needed to be installed. I clicked on "Install"and nothing happens. This is driving me crazy! How can I solve that?
