AmChart Vs Flex Professional

Hi,
Iam already using Flex's Standard edition and planning to move to professional.The basic idea for this move is I want to create realistic dynamic graphs/charts in my application using either CSV or XML.I happen to go through AmCharts(http://extra.amcharts.com/editor/line/).After going through this site I find my Amcharts graphs are more close to my requirements.Can any one help me to know whether can I design same graphs as Amcharts using Flex Professional(I better know that there might not be any direct component present in Amchart).

Flex with JAVA - Query?

Dear Experts,
I would like to develop one small CRM Product using JAVA Programming Language, However which concepts of Java to be used for development is still on it's way to Identify. recently I heared of Adobe Flex concept and have done enough research to explore the use and it's quite interesting.
I though to Use Adobe Flex (Flash Builder) as an User Interface (UI) for my application for attractive look and feel, where as business logic should be in JAVA program. UI has to receive User commands from front-end and process to back-end application logic for processing.
Can anybody kindly advise on bellow of my doubts:
1. Is Flex Professional user License is just enough to build my application or anyother components to buy to integrate with JAVA/J2EE Code i.e. Live Cycle Services?
2. Use of Live Cycle Services and it's Cost per User/CPU?
3. Validity period of Flex Builder License (Life time or Specific period)
4. How can I get more detailed information on Product, Services etc., from Adobe and it's contact number. as I'm in India.

QTP automation and licensing

I'm doing a proof of concept for Flex Automation using QTP. Everything seemed to be going well until I replayed the test that I was working with. Halfway through the main data entry canvas I got a license error. I found out that we need a Flex 3 Professional license on my machine where QTP is installed. Since this is just a POC, I downloaded the 60 day free trial version of F3P earlier this week, and that made the error go away until today. All of a sudden at the end of my test script I'm getting the same license error. I can open Flex Professional without receiving a license error. I tried contacting customer service but they closed my case and since I reopened it 2 days ago, I haven't gotten any response. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
When using the automation functionality we have a built in limitation to only 20-30 steps of recording and playback without an FB Pro license. So to show a full-running demo of automation you would need to purchase FB Pro, the trial will not be enough.

Details on real time graphing

According to my current requirement I need to create graphs where I read some part of input from CSV & the rest part of the input is calculated by using different Formulae.Can i get such kind of graph using Flex Professional.Can any one suggest better ways to achieve this.I request to forward any examples of this type.

Hi Claptrap,
I am not sure what exactly is your problem , but if it is just about clearing the chart after each run, you can righclick the graph when its blank and in data operation set it as default value. Then in the block diagram use an invoke node with reinitialize all to default property befor starting the while loop. Check the attached VI for more details. This will make the graph start from 0 evrytime you run the VI.

Cocomo sdk not recognised as a plugin

Hello everyone,
I downloaded the cocomo sdk and unziped in the plugins
directory but still flex professional builder 3 does not recognize
the sdk what should i do?

Add the SWC to the lib folder of your Flex Project directly,
and you shouldn't have any issues.

Unable to download Flex Builder 3.0.2 Professional Eclipse Plug-in Trial

Since yesterday I am unable to download the Flex Builder plugin for eclipse, having tried all the combinations of Language/OS available for this product, browsers and two different PCs at my home.

Using the link above the case is always the same no matter what browser/computer. After the "Download" button is pressed the website "freezes" for about 30 seconds, then it refreshes and soon an email message arrives with the title

Furthermore when I visit a link provided in the email Getting Started - Flex 3 Getting Started - Adobe Learning Resources, all the hyperlinks such as Watch, Full Tutorial, Download Project, PHP and Java will simply redirect me to the very same page (i.e. the one provided in this sentence).
I'd appreciate any help given on this matter, thanks.

To learn Flex you start with scripting relative languages mxml, etc , or with learning the menus in Flash Builder? how you proceed after you startup? Learning Flex you must choose a server side scripting language from the ones you know very well, and use it by a way in Flex works? like Java if I am familiar with?
Only Actionscript/MXML (+client side) or/and one server side lang REQUIRED, like java/jsp? Can you recommend any textbook in Actionscript/MXML? the Actionscript is exactly the same as FLASH PROFESSIONAL Actionscript? how many months study in Actionscript/MXML, to move to learning menues in BUILDER? IF REQUIRED one server side lang, what level of JAVA I must have, SE & EE & ME to proceed in learning Flex/Actionscript/MXML and thereafter BUILDER-MENUES?

You are asking a ton of questions here, but in general ActionScript in Flex and Flash is the same, but in some cases it is used differently, but most of the time the same.

Load Flex/Flash Builder project in Flash Professional CS5

Is there a way that I can load (or export) Flex/Flash builder project in Flash Professional CS5?
As it turns out we got Flash Prof for our team, but it may look like we actually need Flash builder to build lots of UI related stuff..

Specifically, I want to use flex chart in CS5. Is there a way to do this?

Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional - still available?

Is the Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional still available for download somewhere?
We are currently trying to get some old stuff done in Flash to port over to flex and convert a MovieClip made in Flash to an SWC/Flex component.
The link stated here at the bottom Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional (Adobe - Flex Downloads) does not work.

There isn't. But the CS3 kit works for CS4 too.

I've got a couple of questions I'd appreciate some advice on:
1) I'd love to work with Adobe as part of their professional services arm, but attempts to get to account managers or the right h/r individuals with a view on upcoming projects that require staffing has proven elusive. Does anyone know a good contact here in the UK. My attempts to telephone Adobe directly have fizzled out. I never seem to be put through to the right contact.
2) Alternatively. I'd rather deal directly with companies and not have to go through agencies. Are there dedicated Flex job boards that cater to the UK marketplace - or that have the ability to filter by geographic radius that anyone can recommend?

Upgrade from Flex Builder 3 Professional to Flash Builder 4 Standard?

Hi,
I currently own a license to Flex Builder 3 Professional, and I would like to upgrade to Flash Builder 4 Standard. I do not need the extra features included in Flash Builder 4 Premium, and it costs three times as much as the Standard upgrade.
However, none of the upgrade pages say if my particular upgrade path is possible or not. I talked to a sales rep on the phone, and he thought it would be fine, but didn't know for sure. Can anyone give me the official word if it is possible to upgrade from FB3 Pro to FB4 Standard?

Hi,
I don't think that "downgrades" from FB3 Pro to FB4 Standard are officially supported. You might be able to negotiate with a Sales Rep to make an exception for you though, for a discounted price on a non-upgrade version of FB4 Standard.
Alternatively, if you have any interest in CS5 Web Premium (or have any Adobe products qualifying for a CS5 upgrade), FB4 Standard is included with that Suite now.

You have more flexibility for that part if you use AIR than if you use Flash Player. With Flash Player, it will be only text based information, with AIR, it can be a binary format like a bitmap

Importing swf from bin-release to Flash Professional..

Hello,
I'm trying to take a .swf from the bin-release folder from Flash Builder and import it into Flash Professional CS5 and it doesn't work. Here are the steps I have taken:
I'm using the following simple code in FlashBulder

I create a project (Project->Export Release Build)
I copy the .swf from the bin-release folder to my desktop.
Finally I open Flash Professional CS5 create a new .fla and try to import the swf using File->Import->Import to Stage but nothing happens.
I can import other swfs that I have created from Flash Professional successfully.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

The solutions is to navigate to the Flex Compiler tab
(Project>Properties) and add the
“-use-network=false” argument to the “Additional
compiler arguments” line.
