  • Audio not working anymore - HP Pavilion p7-1436s Desktop PC

Please help! I'm going mad trying to fix this. I have a HP Pavilion p7-1436s Desktop PC with windows 8.1 64bit installed. The audio has stopped working. I have IDT High Defintion Audio CODEC installed in my system. My warranty expired last year
The little white icon of a speaker has a red circle with a white X. When I click it I get an error message saying 'one or more audio services are not running-not fixed'. When I check the IDT audio it shows it's enabled and that I have the lastest driver update. Why is it doing this?? I tried downloading other audio drivers and get a message 'this device is not supported by your hardware, install will abort'.

    Hi,
    Pleae try:
    1. Hold down Win key ( ) then press R, type Services.msc in the Search box.
    2. Scroll down the list of services, right-click Windows Audio and select Start.
    3. Select Properties for Windows Audio and set its Startup Type to Automatic.
    Regards.

  • My audio does not work on my pavilion dv4. i just bought this laptop a few days ago. what's going on

my audio does not work on my pavilion dv4

    This worked for me.
Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Log out/in
If it works, delete the .plist on your desktop.
If  the same, return the .plist to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Hdmi port not working on HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook PC

I can't get my HDMI port on my on HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook PC to work... Can someone please help me? (it's windows 8)

This is ridiculous - the number of hits that come up for "Pavilion g7 HDMI not working" is astounding; yet finding a useful answer, or anything resembling a useful answer other than a document that instructs 4-yr olds on how to locate an HDMI port, is impossible.
HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS?  Or is this a rampant model-wide issue that HP would rather not acknowledge?

  • Microphone not working on dv7 Pavilion Notebook (Windows 7)

The microphone on my dv7 Pavilion Notebook is not working.  I checked the sliding volume controls and have tried updating my drivers.  A few weeks ago, I “unchecked” a few startup items using msconfig.  Is it possible, I “unchecked” an item related to the microphone?  Please advise
In addition, I tried updating the CyberLink YouCam software, but I am unable to uninstall the existing software in order allow the updated software to properly install.  When uninstalling the program, I receive a “1628 Fail” notification.  Is there another way to force the  un-installation of CyberLink YouCam?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
First, regarding the microphone problem, try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again before cheecking if the microphone works.
Regarding being unable to uninstall Cyberlink Youcam, see if you can remove it using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues on machines running a 64bit OS.

  • New graphics card not working in old Pavilion elite

Hey, so i bought a new graphics card, ASUS strix 750ti oc ed., when i plug it in to my Pavilion elite hpe 531sc i get a blue screen with the hp logo and a text saying 'press esc for startup menu' or something like that. Pressing esc does nothing, pressing any other button does me nothing either.
I tried plugging in the old graphics card, it still sort of works except i cant really play games or get my resolution above 800x600, and install the drivers and all for the new graphics card. But the new graphics card still dont work when plugged back in.
So im at a loss here, is my desktop simply too old or something?

Seeing alot of postings about trying that card.  See this thread on a possible solution:

  • Touch not working in hp pavilion 11-n008tu x360

i install new windows 8,  and also intsall drivers from hp. but Touch is not working. please tell me whtas the best solution. thanks

    Hi @Rizdar ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your Hp Pavilion 11-n008tu x360 and issues with the Touchscreen after an update with Windows 8.1. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot this Touchscreen with Windows 8.1.
Please start  at the top and work your way down. As they do seem silly but we need to know if something does not finish correctly.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
If this does not resolve the Touchscreen try to perform a System restore.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Satellite L755D-S2579 AMD Drivers Not Working on Fresh Windows 7 Install

    Hi,
The HDD died in my L755D-S2579 yesterday. I was able to install Windows 7 on a new HDD but cannot get the AMD drivers to work correctly. I've downloaded the latest drivers from the support page and it seems to go through the install but the Display menu continues to use the Generic Standard VGA Graphics Adapter instead of the AMD drivers. When I try to open AMD Vision Engine Control Center it says that there are no settings that can be changed at this time. I've tried uninstalling the generic drivers and uninstalling and reinstalling the AMD drivers but nothing is working. What can I do to get this to work? I can't continue using this laptop if it's running at 1024x768.

What is the part number of your computer? It looks something like PSK32U-03P00X.

  • Bluetooth not working on HP Pavilion 17 notebook PC (Win 8.1)

This might sound repeated but I really gave up. The bluetooth is simpley not working. I downloaded the driver from HP website and from the bluetooth vendor (Ralink). The problem started suddenly when the bluetooth icon disappeared from the system tray. Then, in device manager it shows up Bluetooth only when you select show hidden devices. Then, I uninstall the bluetooth from device manager and restart, install all downloaded files from HP driver support website which I later discovered that I should stick only to the Ralink (Mediatek) becuase I realized that the bluetooth vendor is the same as the wireless vendor. These procedures was not successful (I mean does not correct the disappeared bluetooth icon from the system tray). Finally, I downloaded the driver for bluetooth from Ralink website (which by the way was tricky and not straightforward). What happened now, is viola, the bluetooth icon came up nicely. Between all of these, there was restart, shut down, wait, open again. Anyway, the bluetooth icon is there but it is simply not functional. I checked the device manager, no yellow marks on bluetooth and also the bluetooth appear in device manger without selecting show hidden devices. I also tried services.msc and auto selection. The net result now is that bluetooth is not functional. It does not identify any device. I checked these devices on another computer and it was OK and works smoothly. It is really annoyeing. I think to purchase a bluetooth stick to solve it but I tried an old bluetooth stick and it was NOT working again (I mean it is identified but not functional to find any bluetooth device). Is there any kind of solution to this. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver for your notebook.
