[AMD] FSB overclock doesn't hold after Standby???

Hello fellow overclockers,
My motherboard is a K8N Neo2 Plat. BIOS v1.8 and I just bought the board and the FSB overclock isn't holding once I bring my PC out of (S3) standby; all the other BIOS changes appear to be holding but for the FSB overclock settings!!!  Did I fail to check or uncheck something in my BIOS settings which would enable my FSB overclocked settings to hold once I bring my PC out of system standby?  I will note that if I restart my PC then the FSB is overclocked both in the BIOS and in Windows.  Thanks in advance!!!

My advice is forget about S3 if you overclock .
Great response syar2003 thank you    I just tried hibernate and when I awoke my PC out of hibernate the FSB overclock held!  So I'll put my PC in hibernate instead of S3 standby for now.  Hardly a hassel to us ClockGen to reset the FSB overclock once there lost due to S3 standby.  For now hibernate is my choice.
Cheers!

  • KT6V-LSR 200 FSB overclock doesn't take?

    I'm running the following hardware...
    KT6V-LSR
    2100+ 0248 T'bred B
    512Mb Corsair PC3200 C2
Slapped everything together, booted up, loaded the defaults in BIOS, then immediately changed to 200x10 (which I knew my chip and memory would have no problems with) and restarted. Worked great, right out of the box!
So I wanted to find out how high I could take the FSB (to compare to my nForce2 board in my other system) and was able to get it up to 230 FSB after lowering memory timings to 2.5-3-3-6 and increase of vDIMM to 2.75
I thought this was pretty darn good considering a 233 FSB would need a 7:2:1 divider (which of course isn't available) to keep the AGP/PCI in spec. But when I ran CPUz from within Windows (also verified with the MSI Core Center) it shows my FSB stuck at 200?!?
It does display the correct multi that I have set in BIOS, but regardless of what I have set FSB to (from 200 up to 230 in 5Mhz increments) the BIOS saves the settings, POST displays the increased CPU speed, but Windows utilities show the truth... still running at 200 FSB.
I have the Dynamic overclocking disabled in BIOS since I wasn't familiar with that and would rather have manual control over my overclock anyway. As I said, I did have to reduce memory timings in order to get the board to POST once I got over 210 FSB, which leads me to believe it really is trying to run the thing at the FSB I've set. Otherwise, you'd think I could put it up to the max 280 or whatever if all it was going to do is stay at 200.
I'm using the latest BIOS release available. Anyone else encounter this strange event trying to use >200 FSB?

Have you ever checked your PCI and AGP frequencies at Sisoft sandra or another 3rd party software when fsb is set to 200 mhz.
There is a problem, this moron mainboard doesnt give standard PCI and AGP frequencies when CPU's fsb is set to 200mhz or higher.
Look in that program and you'll see that when fsb is 200mhz PCI is 41 mhz. This is a realy realy big handicap to make overclock.
This mainboard is not a good mainboard.Clear Cmos jumper's position is the worst ever that I've used lots of MOBOs.
there is no AGP/PCI divider at 200mhz or above. This moron mainboard uses AMI bios that doesnt support AMD CPU Mobile modding and using up to 24X multiplier.
    -'s are
1.there is no PCI/AGP multiplier at 200 mhz
    2.ClearCmos jumper's position is bad.
3.AMI Bios sucks. It must be Award Bios.
    +'s are:
1.there are 3 fan sockets on mobo.
    2.doesnt have any stability problems.

  • Thunderbolt display doesn't start after standby

wakeup the MacBook from standby mode the thunderbolt display will not start since the mountain lion update.
you must unplug and replug the connector for starting the display

I had the same problem with my new MacBook Pro Retina connected to a new Thunderbolt Display running OS 10.8.2. I did resolve the problem after a week or so of troubleshooting, but it did involve getting a resplacement display from Apple.
Here WAS my situation: After connecting the display and having things work (video and external keyboard/mouse and sound/video), when the computer went to sleep (not display sleep, computer sleep) or when it was re-started via the display, I had video but did not have any other external control or display sound/video (was as if the internal hub of the TD was not working).
When I disconnected the Thunderbolt connector (which comes from the "All-in-One" TD cable) from the computer and then plugged in a regular Thunderbolt cable to the computer port and the empty TD Thunderbolt port, all was well. In other words I left the TD Thunderbolt connector disconnected and bypassed it with another Thunderbolt cable between the computer and the TD display port. Note that I left the power connector from the "All-in-One" cable connected as there was no problem with that portion.
This, of course meant that the Thunderbolt part of the All-in-One cable (which is not unpluggable from the display) was bad or the display electronics leading to it was bad. Either way it required a new or repaired display.
I hope this is helpful. After bypassing the All-in-One Thunderbolt interface with my workaround above, I never had the problem occur again (you could command the computer to sleep or re-start it from the display, remove the laptop to use elsewhere, re-connect it, etc. and everything continued to work without fiddling with any connections). As a result, I had Apple replace the display under warranty provisions.

  • FSB Overclock, Computer shuts down after 15 sec

    Hello All,
I'm putting together a computer together with the K7N2 Delta board for a friend of the family.  It's a XP2800 chip, with a PNY GeForce Fx 5800, and 256 Crucial mem.  Here's my prob:
The processor wasn't running at full speed so I went into BIOS, changed bus speed to 200MHz.  It obviously should be set to 166MHz, which I learned later.  I was successfully able to set the jumpers for the bus speed back to Safe Mode at 100MHz and then boot back into the BIOS.  Now my problem is that the Motherbaord doesn't stay on more than like 30 secs without shutting off and the only way to restart it is to kill AC power to the board.  At which point, start it again and the process repeats itself.
Does this mean I fried the board and CPU?  I sure as hell hope not
    Thanks
    Lue

    Ok:
Power Supply is 400W max output, it came with the case.
    PNY GeForce FX5200 128MB DDR
    Crucial 256 DDR2100 Ram
    Standard Floppy
    LG CDRW
    Sony DWD+-RW
    WD 120 Gig Hd
    WD 40 Gig Hd
    SB Audigy2 MP3
The computer WAS working with everything in it. Loaded XP pro fine, did initial driver installs.  Then I went into the BIOS and set the buss to 200MHz.  Then the problems start.
Now, I also checked the CPU fan cause I saw other articles were the CPU was overheating and shutting the computer down.  I booted the it up and went into the PC Health in the BIOS and watched the CPU Core temp go to 45 celcius before I turned it off.  Could it be the comp is overheating and shutting down?
    Thanks again
    Luke

  • K8N Neo2 forgets overclocking setting after standby

Just finished assembling my K8N Neo2 Platinum with 90nm 3000+ CPU.  It overclocks great up to 270 mhz with stock cooling and
I originally had 1.3 bios and just updated to 1.4 hoping that it will fix it (it mentions that it fixes SATA after standby issue for some drives).... but nope, everything is exactly the same.  Does anyone else have this issue?  How do you solve it?  Does Bios 1.51b fixes this?
Does everybody have the same problem or is it just my board?

I have the Neo Platinum 7030 and thought I was the only one with problems.
I like to put my in hibernation with power off switch and discovered if I turn it back on with the front power switch it comes on for only a few seconds with no video signal and goes off.  If I press again it will post with error on screen about checking my overclock settings and I have to press DEL and then F10 to get out with things OK again.
If I turn off my power controller where I have all my stuff attached, cutting of power to the back, it boots properly.
I do not use the S3 but have the S1 with power on after it's been off.

  • Swing application eats CPU on resume after standby

My application contains a mix of regular Swing components and about 200 (small) custom components (JPanels) that draw themselves. The problem is that if put my laptop into Standby, then restart it, the application eats CPU. It goes from ~4% pre standby to ~48% after standby. Totally repeatable. There is only the main thread, the AWT thread and a couple timers firing: one to get data from a server and one to redraw the custom controls to make the control blink (calls repaint() to cue up a call to paintComponent()). I put timing code in the two timer driven threads and both are running fine. NOTE: each of the custom components is just a rectangle with a short text string in it. Think checkerboard with text. The background color is all that is being changed. It's basically a grid of alarm/status "lights".
I did some searching and only found a reference to a drawing bug that was fixed back in 1.4.x that had to do with WinXP and dual-headed computers.
Note that another simple Swing application I wrote (no custom controls), doesn't appear to behave this way, so I suspect it has to do with the custom drawing stuff (rolling my own paintComponent() method).
Any thoughts on how to figure out what is eating the CPU? I'm using NetBeans 6.7 and JDK 1.6_14 under Windows XP.

It doesn't matter if it's a Swing timer or a Util timer. It behaves the same either way. That was one of the first things I tried.
I ended up refactoring the code to go from a grid of individual controls (think checker board where each square is a control that draws itself), to a single "board" control that draws a grid. That seems to have fixed the issue. I can go in/out of Standby and the app doesn't eat a ton of CPU any more. The real problem may still be there, just too small of an effect to notice.
I don't know why the original design would work fine before a Standby, but not after. Having ~200 little controls doing repaints twice a second must confuse something in the JVM/Windows versus having 4 large controls doing the same amount of drawing.
It's working, so time to move on.

  • Satellite A100-049: CDs and DVDs don't read after standby

I have a new satellite A100-049 that came with vista home premium pre-installed. After returning to the computer from sleep/standby (Whatever the mode is when the light pulses yellow) no discs can be read in the drive. The disc will spin continually but nothing will happen.
Everything works fine when the computer is turned on first time, but after sleep it stops reading discs. Is there anything I can do about this?

It doesn't recognize it when i re-insert it or put it in fresh after standby. It just keep spinning without loading. Wierd thing is, if i try to load a program with the disc spinning and by clicking on the desktop icon and then take the disc out while it isn't loading I get a message saying please insert disc

it suggest that I have to instal iphoto again.
    where can I find this

If it suggests that you install iPhoto again, install iPhoto again. In your Macs Box that it came in there should be 2 Discs, one is an Applications CD (You need this one) And another is the Mac OS X.
Insert your Applications CD and hold C while the computer is starting up, then you will be walked through the installation of Applications.

Voice command for Contacts doesn't work after a reboot or a contacts restore.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Backup contacts. Open Files > Backup & Restore > Select Contact for Backup Contents and select Back up now.
    2. Edit/save a contact, press and hold the call button, speak contacts name. The voice recognition works fine.
    3. Restore contacts. Open Files > Backup & Restore > Select Contact for Backup Contents and select Restore.
    4. Reboot phone when prompted.
    5. Press and hold the call button, speak contacts name. The voice recognition does not work.
    Work around:
    Edit and save each contact.
    Additional Information:
Social integration with contacts also does not work after a reboot. The facebook icon and "See what xxx is up to on Facebook" is not displayed. The same work around "Edit and save each contact" also applies. This occurs using the Nokia N8 and Nokia 808 Pureview.

Has anyone had this issue, is there a setting I am missing in my phone?
    Hello,
This is not necessarily and issue with the phone. It could also be an issue with the car`s bluetooth software that is only limited to some functions like reading your contacts list, last calls, missed calls, etc. which is most likely the basic 2.0 version.
The Z30 has the 4.0 version that has a lot more communication capability but if the car`s bluetooth its a lower version, then you will not be able to take full advantage of it unless you upgrade the bluetooth software in your car. Call your dealer and inquire about the bluetooth software upgrade in your car

  • I purchased snow leopard and got a disk with OSX 10.6.3 but my macbook with intel processor and 1 gig won't update.  It restarts but doesn't update after disk installs

I purchased snow leopard from online macstore in Australia and got a disk with OSX 10.6.3 but my macbook with intel processor and 1 gig won't update from 10.5.8.  It restarts but doesn't update after disk installs.  Do I need 10.6.0 to install first?

Insert the Snow Leopard DVD, restart your MacBook while holding down the C key, this should start your Mac from the optical drive instead of your hard drive. Choose your language and install Snow Leopard. When it's done and you've restarted on your new 10.6.3 system run software update to upgrade to 10.6.8. Done.

  • Wifi doesn't work after screen replacement

My husband was gracious enough to replace the screen on my ipad 2. However, now, I can't connect to wifi unless I'm right next to the router. The antenna needs alot of signal to see any network. He verified the antenna isn't broken. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • X31 WinXP USB after standby Code 38

    Hallo everyone!
I have a very annoying problem. My Thinkpad X31 supports internally only 802.11b that is too slow today. So I got Fritz!WLAN USB Stick which can 802.11g.
The Problem: The stick stops to work after standby. Worse: Not always. Rarely It works after first standby but by second one for sure. In Device Manager under USB controllers I can see that  "USB mass storage device" has a trouble :
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory (Code 38)
I guess there is not a problem with WLAN USB Stick but interplay of Windows driver with hardware.
Has anyone idea how i get clue with this problem?
    Thanx in advance
P.S. Microsoft  recommends to restart pc. funny guys. :-E

  • Satellite L650-16W - Fan doesnt (re)start after standby

Hello i own a Satellite L650-16W and after standby-mode the fan doesnt start again. So the temperature increases untill a reboot is necessary. After the reboot the fan works correctly again. I own this notebook for about 4 month and at the beginning this problem didnt appear.
Ive tried to update the bios but it seems to be the actual version. And i dont find any options to put the fan manually on again. So maybe anybody has got the same problem or a solution.
    Thanks for your help.

Bios reflash is a a little bit tricky procedure and if it goes wrong you will get a black screen. Note, the warranty doesn't cover bios reflash failure. Go to the toshiba driver page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and choose the right Bios for your model
If Bios version on toshiba driver page is the same with installed one yoyr lap, download it anyway and run it. Read carefully instructions how to reflash it:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=60
you may get a message while reflashing the current version is already installed....
Anyway, before all, I advise to restore the factory settings to be sure that isn't OS related issue.
