AMD FX2 (Piledriver) is here, last AMD performance CPU ever!

Quote
In Intel's eyes, AMD was never a real competition. And Intel high end CPU pricing has always been dictated anyway
The last time AMD had an edge was when they launched the Athlon 64 CPUs. That didn't last too long.
Although Intel could afford the higher pricing, seeing that people were buying them, regardless, my gut feel is they would increase their profit margin, not having competition. So prices will go one way only.
It would be a pity. Lets hope this new management at AMD rethinks their strategy, that is, if all of this is not a rumour.

    ok. I was able to resolve this.
    When I used JDK 5.0 u12 , I ran into this weird cryptic error
    Exception in thread "Thread-4" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: libsetupSDKJNI.so: Can't load AMD 64-bit .so on a AMD 64-bit platform
    Now, replacing JDK 5.0 with JDK 6, gives a more useful error
    Exception in thread "Thread-4" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: libsetupSDKJNI.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0
    Good. this at least tells me that there is some problem with my native library. So, after some googlng , I recompiled my native library with 'g++' and added -lstdc++ as dependency.
    this finally solved my problem.
    hope this helps some one.

  • INTEL hardware replaced by AMD for SAP BI7 & MS SQL, any performance factor

    Hi Everybody,
    As we have INTEL hardware for our BI 7 & MSSQL server, recently we have reinstalled the app servers on AMD hardware (Here we have changed only Hardware, other factors are similar to earlier setup).
    Now we are looking at performance factors which will need to look in, so could you please advise what are the parameter ( relevant to MEMORY or PAGING) need to fine tune.
    Component Version: SAP NetWeaver 2004s
    Application: BI 7.0
    OS: Windows 2003
    Database: MSSQL
    Please let me know if you need any more information...
    Thanks in advance.....

  • Problems with AMD A8-6410 APU with ATI AMD Radeon R5 Graphics

    Hi.
    I have problems with the graphics card driver Ati Radeon R5. I have a HP 15 - g012dx , from one moment to another , the driver stopped working. I have to disable this driver for the video work properly. I installed the drivers that brings the HP Recovery Manager:
    * AMD HD Graphisc Driver:
    -version 13.351.1105.1001
    -version 13.351.1105.1005
    Prove also unsuccessfully with these drivers :
    * amd - catalyst- 14.7 - rc3 -windows- aug12
    * amd - catalyst- 15.3beta - 64bit - win8.1 - mar20
    * sp67327
    * sp69615
    PLEASE help me to resolve this problem
    thanks
    DISABLE DRIVER (VIDEO REGULAR)
    ACTIVE DRIVER (VIDEO PROBLEMS)

    Install the driver that is available either by download from the HP support portal download section or the HP Recovery manager. You can access the Recovery Manager while logged into Windows or by booting to the usb recovery media you should have created by now.
    Try the following HP graphics softpaq version 13.152.1.3000. The HP softpaq will also reinstall the notebook's chipset drivers.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64482.exeversion
    Do not install drivers from AMD.
    If you read the fine print at AMD, you will find that AMD cautions you that it is best to use the notebook manufacturer's drivers.

  • Anyone else here have Laggy performance in Java Applet Games?

    I noticed that when i play at pokerroom.com the games lag.  It is not internet lag for sure.  The poker games perform perfectly on my old PIII but on my new system teh games are choppy and laggy.
    I noticed that people are having choppiness and stuttering on their online games.  Perhaps this is linked.  Anyone else wanna give their experience?

    unfortunatly i RMA'd my Motherboard and Processor already thinking one of those may have been the culprit.

  • How to trigger the next service based on the last service (Performance Base Plan)

    Hi Experts,
    If im using the Performance Base Maintenance Plan. and set the service is every 5000km. if i send my vehicle for sevice at 6000km. how the system can trigger the next service on 11000km instead of 10000km.
    Thanks
    Regards

    5000 KM once is the planned one. If you are sending at 6000 KM or 6500 KM, this is unplanned one. System will not consider the unplanned orders. So its not possible to have at 11000 KM automatically.
    Either you have to create new Maintenance plan starts with 6000 KM with the cycle of 5000 KM & deactivate the old plan.

  • HT1766 How can I select an older backup to restore my device from, rather than restoring from last backup performed?

    I did a backup after doing a sync with my iTunes only to find that I un-ticked the sync apps box, resulting in my apps to be deleted and most of them losing their data. I have all the data of these apps on backups I did previously to the most recent one but don't know how to select older backups.
    Is their anyway to restore my device from an older backup, rather than the most recent one?

    Knowing where backups are stored is one thing, interpreting them (and getting them back to your iOS device) is another!
    If you did your sync, but no backup immeiately after it (for some reaon some people do) then you may have success. Without connecting your iPad to our computer, go to the screen I mentioned in my earlier post and put a tick in the box PREVENT IPOD .... FROM BACKING UP AUTOMATICALLY and click OK. Then connect your iPad and restore from the previous backp if it is there! You can then go back and change the PREVENT...... setting.
    When you get this all sorted out you can consider iCloud for additional backups. If you do not use iCloud routinely then you can switch it on temporarily to do a manual backup, even multiple backups.
    However, you can trick iTunes into doing additional backups by changing the device name. For instance, you can do a backup under the device name of, say, Liam's iPad, then change the iPad name to Liam's iPad 1, Liam's iPad 2, etc with a backup under each name! Whichever backup name you use in due course to restore your iPad is the name that will appear as your device name under Settings on the iPad.

  • [Solved] How to remove default "performance" CPU-scaling governor.

    I was goin' trough the cpu scaling wiki and i was able to add the ondemand
    cpu scaling governor and the appropriate powerdriver with modprobe command.
    Then the cpu speed was lowered as it should so i've added these two to the modules section in rc.conf as well, to start at boot.
    After reboot cpufreq-info's output says that both governor is loaded, BUT it doesn't switch to ondemand mode.
    1. How can I remove the performance mode?
    2. Or is there a possibility to setup it somehow that it switches to ondemand only if i switch to battery mode?
    3. Other problem was for me that
    find /sys/devices/ -name ondemand
    doesn't give back anything, so i cannot lower ondemands governor scaling limit. Where should be these settings?
    Now cpufreq-info output:

    Not sure about 3, but everything else is covered in the wiki article linked by you.
    Configuring CPU scaling is a 3-part process:
      1.  Load appropriate CPU frequency driver
      2.  Load desired scaling governor(s)
      3.  Select a method to manage switching and tuning governor(s):
    You stopped after the second part.
    Ye, you were right. After i didn't found that folder i was looking for i didn't continue on it.
    Turns out, if u use:
    echo "ondemand" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
    It makes that folder, and u can access all those treshold variables.
    But when just running first:
    modprobe cpufreq_ondemand
    the folder for ondemand won't be created. Im sure this is logical, i'm just new to the whole logic of this.
    After modifying tresholds, i've installed laptop-mode, and I need to say, it really k*cks *ss. You can set everythin u want, and it runs along fine in a daemon, using for example: acpid for checking battery state, hdparm for setting power/spinning of hard disks...
    I just leave another wiki link here if someone gets here...

    There's still a not-releated question here, how come i cannot edit as a superuser directly these file under /sys/devices/system/cpu ? I know that these meant to be edited by the system, but still i tought if i'm root, i modify what i want...
    ( I know that I can assign parameters to these files with edit -n <number> > <filename> )

  • MainStage 2 performance / CPU Spikes

    MainStage 1 was almost perfect.
    Just to join the misery ... Same problems (i am reading about on Forums everywhere) here with MainStage 2. Huge cpu spikes and stuttering audio from Virtual Synths. Basically unplayable. CPU usage is at least 30% higher, even when NOTHING is happening. Also memory usage behaves strange, its way too high. Nr of Virtuals doenst really matter, lets say 3x a Native Instr B4II is enough to crack it.
    Strangely enough .. as a Rewire App (receiving 20 channels from Ableton, and mixing them in MainStage) ... it behaves quite well.
    They got to be working on a fix here. I Hope. Any Apple insider reading this who has word ?

    44100KhZ / 16Bit.
    After re-creating my entire concert from scratch, my problems are 'sortof' over.
    No audio stutters anymore.
    Conclusion : Importing MS1 concerts in MS2 is probably not without errors.
    ===
    Still, CPU Usage Meter goes crazy (randomly in RED).
    I know .. many people told me .. don't worry .. its fine.
    Just don't like it, and if the MS2 CPU Usage Meter is mirroring the one in Activity Monitor, whats the bloody use anyway ?
    ===
    Memory Usage behaves strange. Its rising and rising while i am changing patches. Seems to me Memory Management has a bug.
    Still hoping for a fix.

    I have a 1142 running W7 Autonomous software.  WPA2 Pre-Shared key.
    Everything is working - clients connect at 300MB M15  however performance is poor, around 110MB/sec
    A show proc cpu shows 100% CPU due to interrupt (not a process)
    Anyone seen this before?   Both 12.5 and V15 IOS seem to exhibit the same issue.

    Hello,
    As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
    To exceed the target CPU utilization by a small amount, or a momentary spike in utilization, is not an indication of a problem that needs investigation.
    Hope this will help you.

    Can you provide substantiating evidence? A case study maybe, or measurements conducted by yourself ?
    No, of course not. Like I've said in another post I do not have the resources or the rigs. If I was a professional or a scientist (or sponsored) then I could do such things (for example I do not have a laser heat temp gun, or a set of ram with heatspreaders), but I am just a mere gamer with a lengthy experience with my own computers. I can however provide the same reviews I read:
    From newegg and the set of ram I purchased:
    "Other Thoughts: You don't need heat spreaders, they have been shown to make performance worse. Plus this isn't really overclocking RAM and with a 7.2 Windows performance score I see no need to."
    " and was happy to pay less, thanks in part to G.Skill's deletion of the heat spreaders, which are mostly unnecessary with tame memory such as this."
    So let me rephrase (and not to take things I say too completely seriously!): I didn't need the heatspreaders for my situation, as they are completely unpractical for me (they don't fit under my aftermarket heatsink/fan, and I do not overclock the ram or run it so fast that it needs them at all.
    EDIT:
    As for poly:  "I have no idea how hot these modules are, I bought it as a kit incl. a ram koeler.
    I have no problem that modules are in slot 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3"
    With a fan right on them its not hot, especially if you aren't overclocking them. Furthermore, is your pc complaining at all about using 2&4? Is it only single channel? Can you try slot 3&4 for dual channel or does it refuse to boot? Sorry I was thinking of different platforms with the ram question! My bad
    If you want you could try this: edit: Looks like you are using a testing bed instead of a case so simply touch the metal, then the PSU. Hold the PSU with one hand and touch the ram heatspreader with one finger to test its heat. Or if you actually have a laser heat temp gun you can just read it.

  • Processing a request from JSF page?

    Hello all,
    I made a small page in JSF to display a form. I want to process the data in an EJB. When I press the submit button, a particular method is called. How should I pass the form data to EJB - I mean in what format,
    should I pass various arguments to a method of bean? That doesn't sound like good practice. What if I have many fields in form?
    should I pass the arguments as a List array of Strings?
    or is there some better method?

    Hi Vikram,
    To understand i am giving small exaple to you which helps u to get the formdata in the managed bean method.
    Below is the sample code, we have a input text and the value is binded to Register that is a managed bean which u need to register in faces-config.xml file.
    When you clicks the commandButton below the action will be submitted and the method process will invoke in the managed bean (Register). In this method you will get the inputText value which you entered.See the below code how to get the value.
    <h:inputText id="text1" value="#{Register.text1}" styleClass="inputText" />
    <h:commandButton id="bLogin" value="Login" action="#{Register.process}"/>
    public class Register extends PageCodeBase{
    private String text1=""; //created one string for the textBox id=text1 and provide setters & getters
    public String getText1() {
              return text1;
         public void setText1(String text1) {
              this.text1 = text1;
    public String process(){
    System.out.println("IN PROCESS METHOD");
    //In the below line you will get the value entered in the text box.
    System.out.println("Getting the value of input text box:::"+getText1());
    Here you can perform what ever business login u need.
    return "back";
    Feel free to ask any questions.
    Thank You,
    Subrahmanyam Baratam.
