install the via 4 in 1 drivers they have the gart driver
The latest Hyperion drivers will uninstall the VIA AGP Driver under Windows XP with SP2 and install the new Microsoft Universal AGP Driver that was bundled with SP2 (UAGP35.sys).  Have to get the previous version or customize the Hyperion install file.  The VIA AGP driver hasn't changed since the previous version.

  • Locked PCI/AGP

I have the K7N2-Delta L. Is the PCI/AGP bus speed locked automatically or do I have to change settings for these items in bios?  I oc'd fsb to 200Mhz w/333Mhz ram runs good but Ghost Recon has graphic noise bars and blips in sound when I run it.  I have faster memory on way soon (400Mhz) and video card is slightly oc'd by 25Mhz on Core and Memory.  I guess my memory is causing these problems right? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated gonna knock back oc'ing till I get faster memory, just wanted to experiment.

Yea, It's the RAM. I just ran Memtest86+ and got errors on test 5.   I've RMA'd a 512 MB stick back to Kingston, expecting replacement next week. I must say I really get a buzz with this oc'ing.  I believe with 400Mhz ram I could run steady with my 2500+ Barton CPU set at 200Mhz FSBx2 no problem maybe even a little more. I might even be able to increase the multiplier a bit more to tweak out a little more speed from cpu. It'd be great to bet 12.5x 200 at 2500Mhz.        I believe I got a good cpu for oc'ing can take the heat (oh yea, I'm replacing Tt Silent Boost fan with 92MM H/S fan at I believe 81 CFM's @ 3600 RPM's( instead of 27.5 CFM's @ ~2500  RPM's).  Noise doesn't bother me, I'm deaf in one ear anyways. I just want to push my system to edge of envelope (so to speak).   Actually I'm cheap, I want a 3200+ at 2500+ prices.

  • 875p, I CANT LOCK my PCI / AGP Frequency using FAST,TURBO, or ULTRA

i have an 875p neo. i am one setting away from loving this mainboard(finally). i have a 2.8ghz running at 3.0 (with a 1:1 FSB/RAM). i can run stable in TURBO MODE, with "timings by SPD". i am using 1.7 bios (1.8 gives me lower performance). i tried all the bios from 1.4 and up. my problem is I CANT LOCK MY AGP/PCI frequency. no matter what, it boots up in windows as 70/35, but only when using FAST,TURBO,or ULTRA PERFORMANCE MODE. my agp/pci frequency locks fine at 66/33(67/34) if i run in SLOW MODE, but any other performance mode setting overclocks the AGP PCI frequency to 70/35. this causes my ATI 9700np to freeze almost instantly while playing any game. luckily my ATI card has unlocked bios or the problem would be worst. i have been using CLOCKGEN to throw the settings back to 66/33 when windows loads, and i get no freezes. BUT I WANT A PERMANENT FIX MSI. not a CLOCKGEN patch. my question to you all out there:
IS THERE A particular BIOS THAT I CAN USE THAT will LOCK THE PCI/AGP FReQUENCY while using FAST,TURBO, and ULTRA PERFORMANCE MODES? or another way to lock the setting in the bios?any suggestions? thanks
    EDIT 2:
i just remembered, i forgot to tell you all. my agp/pci lock works fine if i run my ram in 333mhz mode. i have 400mhz ram. i was a running 1:1 ratio. agp/pci doesnt lock only if i use "auto" or "400mhz" settings. it run fine when i have my ram set to run at 333mhz. are you runnig at 400mhz or 333mhz? if 333mhz i can see why i left you guys confused...sorry.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MY FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL I GUESS WE HAVE TO USE THE GHETTO FIX FOR NOW:
(i am assumming this is an ATI CARD only PROBLEM)
download clockgen and install it. check your AGP/PCI frequency. if it reads  70/35 then you have a problem, which will cause your ATI card to freeze up during a period of use.
unlock your cards bios(if it's not already unlocked). this will allow room for the 70/35 AGP/PCI frequency overclock. get info from rage3d.com forum on how to unlock your  ATI card.
make your clockgen settings startup when windows boot, @***ghz, 66/33 agp/pci(read the clockgen instructions on how to run clockgen on boot)
    download radclocker and install it.
set the AGP core/mem clock speeds to what you desire. then bump down the core TWO NOTCHES, then the memory down TWO NOTCHES then click "use current" bios button. 70/35 boot overclock pushes your ATI core/memory up two notches, so by setting radclocker 2 notches , radclocker takes the 70/35overclock two nothes lower. you have your desired speed. then clockgen throws your agp/pci frequency back to 66/33....which makes everything work right. it all boots in the right order for me.
    explaination:
when windows starts it boots your agp/pci frequency@ 70/35. you need to be at 66/33 AGP/pci frequency for your ati card to run correct and not lock up after intense gameplay. radclocker underclock your card.clockgen puts your agp/pci to 66/33 AGP/PCI frequency.

  • KT266 PRO2 RU, can it lock AGP/PCI??

There is some way to lock the AGP/PCI bus in this mobo?
    Greetings.

nope it just uses dividers like all via boards

  • AGP lock?

I have my video card overclocked via editing the video card's bios and was wondering if I need to turn the AGP lock on by changing the AGP bus to 67 or whatever... The CPU is NOT overclocked and I don't plan on ever doing it... Do I only need to turn on the AGP lock when the CPU is overclocked or what?

NO... The only time you would need to lock the AGP bus is if you attempt overclocking the CPU... GPU overclocking is not affected by the lock... Although you may want to throw a little extra juice to your AGP slot if your OC'ing the GPU

  • MSI Pro2-C (6562) - How to lock AGP/PCI clock ?

    hi,
I use the BIOS 1.1 with this card, and can't lock the AGP/PCI Clock (66/33)
Is there an utility which can do that, or is it possible with the BIOS 1.2 ?
    thx

-> LINK to the MB specifications.
    MSI Pro2-C / MS-6562_i845
With this bios (1.1), I can't lock the agp/pci clock to 66.66/33.33 and when the FSB is about 105, pci extensions are out.
So, I would like to know if it's possible to lock agp/pci clock with the BIOS 1.2 (or maybe another bios), or if it's possible to do that with software (and if yes, which software)
CPU is p4 willamette 1.7 (17*100) and I think it would be possible to reach a fsb around 120 (@2040 Mhz) if I can lock agp/pci clock.
    thanks for your help

  • PT880 and AGP/PCI Lock---is this it??

Have visited Viarenea and others----supposedly Via has instituted an AGP/PCI Lock for the first time on their chipsets and the PT880 board is the first to have it.
I found this in the Manual----Frequency/Voltage controls in Bios:
    Page 3-28
    AGP Frequency
This item is used to configure the AGP frequency. Settings: From 66.9 to
    100.9 at 1 increment.
Am not sure----but I believe this setting to be the long absent AGP/PCI lock setting that Via was notorious for NOT having----but supposedly fixed with this chipset.
This sounds very similar to Bios settings on various NForce2 boards that DOES lock the AGP/PCI bus
    Anybody know anything about this?
Basically, an AGP/PCI lock is ESSENTIAL for any kind of serious overclocks.
    Thanks----John

You are Absolutely Correct "johnrr6", This is VIA's new AGP/PCI Bus Lock/Divider .....And it is About Time!!!..........Sean REILLY875

  • Locked AGP/PCI

Can the k7n2 delta-ISLR lock the AGP/PCI bus?
Want to OC a 2600XP with corsair PC3200LL.

the AGP clock frequency is set at default (66).
Should the PCI auto detect also be enabled?
Is that all that is needed to lock the AGP/PCI bus?

  • NEO 2 AGP fastwrite problem

Hi all can anyone help me!!
    SPEC
    MSI neo2 platinum Bios 1.8
    AMD A64 3500+ 939
    Tagan 480W PSU
    2 X WD SATA 80 GB harddrive (Raid 0)
    Gainwad 6800 Ultra
    Creativ Audigy2 ZS Plat
1GB OCZ platinum Rev2 DDR memory
    Sony DVD-RW
    Sony FDD
    MSI CD-ROM
    Windows XP SP2
Iv had problem with this board ever since i brought it around 8 months ago and am starting to lose confidence in MSI products
The system is now 100% stable at last
But when i run games with anything newer than nivdia 71-24 drivers, the games freeze every 5 or so secs and wont run correctly. This is caused by AGP fastwrites not working with newer drivers.
But if i increase or decrease the graphics card clock by a few Mhz's the games run perfect with new drivers and fastwrites enabled. but if i do something quick in a game i.e when BF2 loads a map if i click start imedietly the game freezes every few seconds
I have tried disabling fastwrites but i notice a very big decrease in performance and the game freezes every 10 mis or so
Is there a fix to the problem or have i got to rip out this motherboard and never buy MSI produtcs again
    Thanks in advance

    Berno,
Keep smiling and do not give up, you are smart and can resolve this issue. Nvidia video cards are quite good when use on the Neo2 plats but they do like definite settings.
1- First insure that your video card is set at stock speed and neither its FSB or memory speed are overclocked.
2- Go to BIOS Cell menu & look up "Adjust AGP frequency" set this option to "67" this will lock your AGP bus speed.
3- Then do following while in main BIOS Cell menu:
    a. Press "Shift + F2" and then "ALT + F3" this will unhide three previously hidden BIOS 1.8 Options (NV/ATI Speed UP; DRAM Drive Strength, and PCI Clock Auto detect) Live last 2 alone
    b. Set NV/ATI Speed UP to AUTO or live it there if already selected.
4- Save and Exit BIOS and reboot. Try out new VGA card driver + games and see what happens
5- Post again if still having problems
Remember that if you decide to OC your Video card you must set BIOS as follow:
1- AGP fast write - disabled
    2- NV/ATI Speed UP - disabled
    3- AGP adjust Frequency - 67
You may also need to adjust your AGP voltage in Cell menu upwards by up 0.5 to 1.0 volt to stabilize Video card when OCing GPU or video memory. Monitor GPU temp closely if you do so.
Good look and remember to keep smiling, you can and shall overcome...

  • Overlock AMD 3000+ questions

Okay system is up and running(finally) with no problems.
    Anyways.. my sysem is in my signature;
My idle temp is 35c and fullow load is 40-41c at stock.  My question is what are some things I should be familiar with when overclocking with this MSI board?  Read a few people saying to lock the AGP at 67 while others said not to.  What are some suggestions to get started on overclocking?
I have been overclocking for awhile now so I am not a TOTAL noob.

in the second link there is a client called ClockGen, is it any good to try ? Or is it better to use Bios for OCing ? I have read what was written there that the client is better to use than the Bios , but do you think this client is really good to use it instead the Bios ? Or is there another client to do the job better than this client ?

  • Audigy 2 on Neo2 Platinum causes LOCK UPs/BSODs!!! Help!

I have a videocard with a HUGE, I mean HUGE custom CPU heatsink attached to it.  This leaves me only ONE slot available for my Audigy 2.  And that slot is the last slot 5, orange color.
Its the ONLY ONE AVAILABLE.  I read on these forums about some incompatibility of Audigy 2 with MSI Neo2 Platinum.  Thats what I have.  I tried several later and older BIOSes including the official one and the latest beta one.
Still, when I play UT2004 or some other games that demand EAX/Hardware 3D sound - I get a dark blue BSOD without a message (its like a non-WinXP BSOD, its a hardware BSOD as I call it, dark blue color).  It comes with a sqeeking sound.  I have to restart my PC afterwards.
It happens after 3-4 minutes of playing.
When I REMOVE the soundcard - everything is fine, NO BSOD.
I tried different Audigy 2 drivers, but they all give the same result.  This did not happen on my old ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe 2.0, and the soundcard was in PCI Slot 5 as well.  I tried to format, and etc., - same thing if the soundcard is in the PCI slot!
I have PCI lock ENABLED (AGP set to 67Mhz, and PCI LOCK DETECTION set to ENABLED).
How do I fix this problem?

When you said that you have PCI lock enabled and PCI lock detection enabled, were you talking about the same thing?  If not, where in the BIOS is the PCI lock? I could only find PCI Lock Detection.

  • What is locking

Be sure to lock your AGP/PCI bus at 66/33
found this and i been trying to figure what it means but i looked all over the bios and cant seem to find anything and anyone know some timmings for my corsair pc3200 xms like give me a recommendations ..

pci is locked at 33 on that board
and agp will only change from 66 if your daft enough to up it in the bios
    fsb ddr ratio 1.1

but i cant see pci lock option.
i jus wondering, y my pc alway restart when i run prime95.
    in memtest everthing is fine.
    memetest is testing ram right?
    or also CPU?
current try run on ch-5 ram(KVR)
    vdim=3.1
    vcore 1.75
    fsb=225
    latency=2.3.3.11
givin more vcore will be stable for prime95 for my case???
or it is cause by pci tranfer rate???
    or other problem???
hope to hear from u all.

I will try to answer some of your questions.  Might not be able to answer all of them.  When you set the agp lock on your motherboard, it automatically locks the pci bus speed.  The pci bus runs at one half the agp bus speed.  (33mz vrs 66mz)
Memtest tests the ram and not the cpu.  Memtest needs to run at least and hour to verify whether memory is good or not.  There should be no errors.  Memory errors can be caused by other things than memory being bad.  (too tight memory timings- weak psy- unstable system- even cpu)
Prime 95 is a way to check the computer as a system to see if everything is working fine together.  Restarts or freezes in prime 95 is an indication of a problem.
If you don't have the agp lock enabled, that could be a cause of the restart.  Improper cooling of the cpu cause cause restarts.  A weak power supply can also cause the problem.
Your memory voltage is way too high if it is at 3.1volts.  You can overheat the ram and cause it to fail.  Unless the ram manufacturer specifies a particular voltage limit, never set it over 2.8volts.  The Kingston won't last long at 3.1 volts.
The lowest possible voltages that allow the system to run stable are the best voltages to use.
Try a memory setting of 2.5-3-3-8 or 2.5-4-4-10 and see if you can get it to run prime 95 stable.  a cas of 2 for kingston value ram is straining it at anything over stock speeds.
