AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series for windows 8.1

Hello,
I just updated my pc's operating system to windows 8.1.
The AMD(AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series) and Intel(Intel(R) HD Graphics) graphics adapters installed automatically when I connected to internet.
I then tried updating the drivers and it tells me that drivers are up to date.
But the pcs is incredibly slow. and when I shut it down and try to boot back, it fails to start
on about three attempts and finally gives me an uption to restore the system to previous state.
After successfully restoring the pcs, I then disabled the AMD graphics and the system boots successfully
and the performace improved slightly but not up to normal.
How can I install the suitable drivers for the display adapters and have the pcs perform fast as it should.
Or advise me on any alternatives or other  possible solutions to get the pcs performing well and fast.

  • Amd mobility radeon hd 5000 series code 43

I am getting a code 43 for my amd mobility radeon hd5000 series.

Same quastion but longer:HP Pavilion dv6 No Second Monitor with Widows 10With W7 I use a Pavilion 23xi Monitor via HDMI in addition to the lap top screen. On upgrading to Windows 10  only the Laptop screen  is enabled.Looking at device manager and HP System info I see that the laptop screen is being driven by the  “Graphics device 2:  ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series”, Device Manger reports “No drivers are installed”.“Graphics Device 1: AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series” in controlling nothing and DM reports, with a yellow exclamation mark, “Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)”.Presumably why I have no second monitor output?Any view on how to fix? “Update drive” says I’m running the latest driver. No luck with the ATI update software either.Another question is given that googling seems to say that the 4200 is not supported in W10 could this be a root cause of the 5000 problem and an indication that I’ll never get dual monitors back (which means going back to W7 or a new PC)? Or is it simple a matter of coaing the 5000 driver back to life?Any thoughts appreciated. Even if only to say me too.Thanks,Dean.

    Hi @Jiko ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-3050ee Notebook and issue with Graphic drivers for Windows 8.1. You system shows me that the drivers are only available for Windows 7 on this machine. Updating to Windows 8.1 would rely on Windows 8 drivers only and you would lose some of the enhanced effects on this Notebook.
No, you can not use the Notebook without drivers installed.
Have you tried to just update the drivers in the Device manager on Windows 8.1?
    Thanks.

  • Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series + open source driver = screen flickers

Hello, this is my first post here. I just finished setting up my first arch installation on my laptop and I'm using Xorg + gnome 3 as user interface.
My laptop has two VGA cards, an integrated intel VGA card and a Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series, so I used vgaswitcheroo to switch to the Mobility Radeon and turned off the intel VGA card.
Now, here's the problem: I want 3d acceleration to play games and such, but the opensource radeon driver is being weird.
Basically, if I use my Mobility Radeon and the opensource driver the lower-center part of the screen flickers when i move windows vertically. It flickers to black in a polygon-like area and the window shadows get all messed up. If i try to start a game that uses 3d acceleration (such as nexuiz) it runs extremely slow (way too slow for this VGA card) and flickers like crazy in the same area and sometimes on the entire screen.
I already tried using the proprietary driver (catalyst) but it doesn't seem to support switchable VGA cards, since it gives me memory segmentation error.
However, if I switch back to the Intel VGA card and use the opensource intel driver, it runs just fine with no flickering and nexuiz runs better (but of course not fast enough since the intel VGA card is crappy)
As you can see here, 3D acceleration seems to be enabled and Xorg doesn't seem to give any major error or warning:

    Ok, I removed the packages
    xf86-video-intel xf86-video-vesa xf86-video-fbdev
So its the xf86-video-ati, which is used.

  • Xorg, xf86-video-ati - no OpenGL rendering [Mobility Radeon HD 5000]

    Hello
I got a new laptop (Asus b53j, EU version with an i3 - should be same hardware otherwise) and of course it needs to run Arch, or it'll slowly rust.
It has an option to switch the graphics card in Windows (From Intel to ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series), which I guess might have something to do with this issue.
I'm unable to get any OpenGL rendering working, using the xf86-video-ati driver.

  • [GUIDE] Update AMD Mobility Radeon drivers to fix graphics issues

I made this small guide because some topics on this forum are about this problem and there is no official step-by-step solution from HP. So, how to fix your laptop's graphics issues by updating drivers for AMD Mobility Radeon HD GPU to latest version from AMD?
    1. Install latest BIOS for your laptop from HP.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/Official-HP-statement-on-Switchable-Graphics-and-Open-GL/td-p/766285
    2. In BIOS set Switchable Graphics Mode to 'Fixed mode'.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/268/79500144.jpg/
    3. Install latest graphics driver for your laptop from HP.http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
    4. In Catalyst Control Center make sure that active GPU is 'High-performance GPU'.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/cccv.png/
    5. Download latest version of Mobility Radeon drivers for your operating system from AMD.For now, I recommend version 12.6:- for Windows 7 64-bit:http://www2.ati.com/DRIVERS/mobile/12-6_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe- for Windows 7 32-bit:http://www2.ati.com/DRIVERS/mobile/12-6_mobility_vista_win7_32_dd_ccc.exe
    6. Install AMD driver on top of HP driver. This installation will update AMD components to latest version.
    7. Enjoy graphics performance as if it was properly supported by HP.
    Solution for HP:
Release new driver each time AMD makes a new release within 1 week maximum. Hard? But this guy does nearly the same. Alone and for free. http://leshcatlabs.net/ OR simply ask AMD to provide direct links to new drivers like in an example above (see point 5) and sticky these links with a step-by-step instruction on this forum.
Problem solved. With kudos from Russia. Alexander.
    P.S. Does this guide work?

hey there, i ve recently bought the g6-1304sv notebook first things i did when i got it was all the updates, both the windows 7 updates and the HP assistant updates(that basically gave me the new bios and i guess new drivers for graphics) when i got into the bios and actually switched it to fixed mode the notebook gave me a bluescreen (i could only get into the pc in safe mode through which i uninstalled drivers for both the onboard and the amd card in order to actually get back in the pc normal way) the strange thing after that  was that it didnt give me the catalyst center on the right click and when i downloaded and installed the latest it would say that catalyst could not start because it couldnt find the card (or sth like that) updated drivers for amd etc but still nothing. what i did then is creat backup cds and restore pc to factory settings. (does that remove bios update? dont think so)From that point onwards everything works fine and im now using the amd card no problemwhat worries me is the hp assistant messages saying that i need to update urgently. will that mess everything up again?i hope this helps others and i hope you have an answer for me thx in advance and for the guide!!!

  • Radeon hd 5000 series

After upgradeing to win 10 a lot of things did not work, no signal to tv via the hdmi lead, fsx not working, not communicating with the printer(lexmark x4550), some saitek not working and that is just for starters.  Tried lots of differnt things to try and coorect this , reloading drivers, unstall software reinstalled software and loades of other suggestions I found on the web on on here, nothing worked. The problem still remains code 43 on the amd modility radeon hd 500 series, and yes even that was uninstall and reinstalled. It would be nice if HP could solve these problems with" their product" on wins 10 instead of leaving customers to find the solutions. Can any one help please.  kgp44

The video problem with an external monitor when using the Radeon hd 5000 series seems to be a widespread problem (best I can tell by looking at several other forums).  I had the same printer problem (not likely related), but unexpectedly it was fixed--there was a microsoft popup saying that my printer settings were changed; try again.  I had left a print run hanging for a couple of hours so that might have been the trigger.  shrug...

    Hello @dKthegr8 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're looking to update the GPU drivers for your notebook to the most recent versions.
In order to use the switchable graphics feature of an HP notebook, you must use the drivers that are provided on the HP - Drivers & Downloads website. These drivers are not always the most recent but are the only drivers that will allow the GPUs to work properly.
    Sorry for the bad news.

Ati mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Driver for Satellite M30
Hope this works somehow been looking all day long now :(

    Hi,
its your lucky day my friend.
Check this sites and download the drivers you need:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
The drivers are native Nvidia/ATI drivers but the *.inf files (the files where the hardware information and the settings for the cards are listed) were fitted for mobile systems. That means you can install them on your machine and by the way you will get the most actual drivers.

  • Will the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series Graphics card be capable of outputting at 2560x1440?

I currently have a dell studio 15 laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 graphics card, i'm planning to upgrade to an iMac with the same 27 inch display as the one in this forum but i was hoping to continue to use this computer and use the iMacs great display as an external monitor whenever i want to use windows, i was wondering if my graphics card supports such a high resolution or not?
    Thanks

Since I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise, I cannot use Windows Update as it is controlled by WSUS. Anyway, after hours of discussing with the IT experts at my workplace, none of them could solve the problem. They even said I can never run my video card again as it is not compatible with Windows 7.
    But I didn't give up.
After hours of figuring out a solution, I decided to download and try out the "ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver for Windows 7 - ThinkPad R400, T400, T500, W500" and guessed what? It worked! The Catalyst center was also installed. Who knew it was the Switchable Graphics Driver when the ATI card was the only one shown in Device Manager to be not working.
