AMD OVERDRIVE TMPIN2

Hi
On AMD OVERDRIVE what is the tmpin1,2,3;
phenom 8450
sapphire 4850
msi k9a2 cf bios 1.7
muskkin 5 5 5 18  at 400 MHZ
all stock
The tmpin2 shows 128 C is it right;
i have two fans one for in and one for out ( for the air )

False reading, simply ignore it.
They read a sensor-port that isn't connected.

Better overclocking is acheived in the bios.
A very good guide for overclocking your ph2x6 can be found on the xbit labs web site.
I have no time for software overclocking, but amd overdrive 4.0.4 comes with goodly stability tests.
You can get overdrive 4.0.4 from the guru of 3D
Thanks for the post. Could you provide the link to that guide on xbit Labs? I got the AOD 4.0.4. works great.

I installed amd overdrive version 2.1.6 from  www.brothersoft.com/amd-overdrive-232055.html   when it installs it says it cant find a AMD 7 series chipset on my computer. what version of amd do i need and where can i get it?

I knew that, i have the easy OC switches on my board, should i use those, then fine tune it with bios? and what in bios should i change?
sorry im a newbie to OCing but i really wanna get started learning all i can, i am getting either the: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/chassis/fulltower/armor_lcs/ve2000swa.asp     case or  the:

  • K9A2 Platinum 9950 and AMD overdrive

Ive been gathering overclocking info for ages now and Ive never really tried much. Ive just upgraded to the AM2+ platform from my old 939 box. Ive just discovered the AMD overdrive utility and have been playing with it in novice mode. I slid the bar notch by notch until I reached level 10, the highest in novice mode. It really didnt do much it seems, now my 2.6ghz cpu is running at a blazing 2665.36 after using the novice mode to max  . Looks like all its done is raise the PCIe clock to 110, HT ref. clock to 205 and the memory clock to 410. Nice little baby steps . It passed the stability test no sweat. What I was wondering was how effective is the auto clock feature? Does it overclock until it finds a max oc or can you stop the process when you are satisfied with the progress (example whan it reaches 2.8 can I just stop it and test the stability?). How is the utility overall? I know its better to do it in the BIOS but for a novice like me it seems like a safer option.

It's the BIOS. Just tested it with beta v1.21 and gave me the 700 chipset message too. Also with v2.10.
With BIOS v1.1 it gave me the unsigned driver message.
After booting Vista X64 with the option F8 and then "Don't check for unsigned drivers" Overdrive starts.
And showed to be a very nice tool.
I'm sorry for the above post.
    I was WRONG...
With the K9A2 CF use: Overdrive from the MSI download page
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=6176&type=utility
Only still the unsigned driver thing so boot Vista X64 with the option F8 and then "Don't check for unsigned drivers".
    The chipset shows as RD790

  • 970A-G45 with latest Bios not read correctly By Amd Overdrive

    System is as follows
Motherboard: 970A-G45 Bios is now 1.61 all have been tried
    CPU: AMD FX 8120
Memory: AMD Performance Edition 1600MHz 8 gbyte
    PSU Corsair GX600
problem is that AMD BEMP profiles are grayed out,With this processor and memory the BEMP profile should be available both AMD and Patriot the makers of the memory say the problem is the bios not being read correctly by AMD overdrive. Now how do we get a bios release that will be correctly read by AMD Overdrive.here are pics of cpu-z and AMD overdrive BEMP.
I used the instructions posted here  but the image in the instructions doesn't show either

ok the links work now had to resize images

Does AMD overdrive start and work on your system, besides the BEMP thing: yes!, so that is not the question or problem here.
Do you have the hardware components that are needed to support BEMP: NO!

  • FSB OCing kills suspend and AMD Overdrive

Using the FSB OC switch on my motherboard to increase the FSB 10% works. However my PC wont suspend properly now and when I try to run AMD's Overdrive software, it crashes. Any thoughts?
    Brad

I've never been keen on OC'ing using switches.
The only advice I have for you is to set it back to default and change the FSB in the BIOS instead, leaving everything else as is. See how you go. Even if you bump it by just a few MHZ, see what happens.
You tend to get far more fine tuning out of the BIOS as well, and can push things right to the limit.

Is there a problem with this board that I need to RMA it?
If it works without any issues at stock settings then no, there is no problem with the board.
Remember - an overclock is NOT guaranteed! Just because someone else managed a certain overclock, doesn't necessarily mean you are guaranteed to achieve the same.

  • 990fxa gd80 v2 Post check codes and unlikely temp readings

Hi all im new to this forum so forgive me if this isnt the right place to post a concern.
my main concern is the checkdown codes that you see at startup only after overclocking the cpu i get a lowercase b next to all the codes, everything starts up and works fine only these codes before the over clock never had a b in front of them it was only numbers and i cant find any information about this anywhere.Im thinking it could be an issue with my power supply not having enuf power im only thinking this because once i have my cpu and ram over clocked if i overclock my GPU windows glitches and looses some of the windows graphical effects.
also my other concern is about temp readings.when i open AMD overdrive TMPIN2,3 and 4 are all over 250 Degrees C which seems highly unlikely the system would even run for very long at these temps. all other temps seem normal,CPU stays 52  and TMPIN1 stays 41 at idle.Any information concerning these will be greatly appreciated
    Further information my system is
    MSI 990fxa gd 80 v2
AMD fx 8320 clocked to 4.0 Ghz
    Gskill ram clocked to 1600 10 10 10 30
Geforce 550 ti cyclone 2 GPU
    ADATA 120 GIG SSD
    WD blue 500 GIG
    5  120mm hydro bearing fans
    Seasonic 520watt 80plus bronze power

like miklikit said those readings are ghosts as the pins will just be shorted and not connected to anything (if it was over 250C your board would me dead within 5 mins as whatever it was would start to burn)
what codes are they exactly and I will do my best to look them up and work out what they mean? (if there on for less then a few seconds each there nothing to worry yourself over its only if it stops on one for more then 5 seconds then you have an issue)
also that PSU should be ok as your system with what you have needs with a GeForce GTX 550 Ti - 24A and a 400W PSU minimum (add 50-70w for your extras + OC and you need 450-470W) <--- its close to the upper limit of that PSU so it may be a little on the lower end of what you really need (I would suggest 600W or more really for your setup)! (your errors you are getting may be its not got enougth power or your Overclock is unstable)

  • Lenovo Z50-75 AMD FX 7500 CPU/APU Problem?

  • AMD Phenom II 720 BE: Amazing chip

    Hey guys!
I have some good news! Well, so far at least. I'll link to 2 CPU-Z dumps in a moment, and I'll have further extensive testing data available soon, but right now I need to make sure this current OC is considerably stable. I've been doing some major web browsing for the moment just so I can get this down for other over clockers, but my first validation dump is prime stable for 5 hours. I haven't tested the second dump, but know that both are able to game without reaching any major temps. I think AMD has a new bad boy on the block chip on their hands, if they keep this up.
I still have no idea why the validator isn't picking up the cpu voltage....
Validation dump with 1.36 cpu voltage:
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=522711
    Validation dump with 1.375 voltage:
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=523299
Like I said, I'll have more extensive data on these later. Right now, I'm working on seeing if it's stable for the second dump - which would obviously state that the first dump is stable as well.
I'm loving this chip! Now if I could just get myself an NB multi adjustment in the BIOS.....

I'm using air cooling with a Thermalright XP-90 and a fan I picked up from Sidewinder computers. 3500rpm 68cfm. It does have a high db rating, so it's a bit loud, but I can live with it.
At 3.8ghz with those volts I can browse the net, load up monitoring programs, and a bit of photoshop, but anything intensive (like benchmarking, or trying to run prime95) and it just reboots. I'm still working on the CPUz validation even with a higher vcore, but there's really no use at this point to even care for cpuz validation. I've been reading reports of others with similar problems on the 940 BE as well, at least with version 1.50.
I did increase the voltage on the chip to 1.42v so it could get 10 minutes out of prime95. I ended up getting impatient and shutting it down, but I'm sure it would have failed not much longer after that. It's not the temps that are the problem, I had the window open, and it was damn cold in here. I had long sleeves on and I was STILL shivering, and idle temps were 28c (at least that's what the board tells me). As for touching the HSF, it was pretty damn cool to the touch, maybe slightly warm, but nothing more.
Tonight isn't much of a good night as there's rain in the area - which equals moist air and possible chance for storms, so I'm not going to give it a run tonight. My board, I believe tops out around 1.55 volts.... I'm not sure, I've never explored that high in the BIOS with my other chip, and seeing as I can hit 3.6ghz with a slight bump in vCore, I've been pretty happy with this chip.
I'll give it another go on a night that isn't so chance related. I'll get screens n junk too to post up, but so far this 720 chip is exceeding my expectations with this board.
I'm currently at stock values because I'm fiddling with AMD OverDrive, which is actually a more robust program than I expected. For now, I'm gonna get back to the last season of B5 (yeah, I'm sorry... I'm such a dork) which does not require an OC to play the files... Heck, I could probably underclock and still be ok. haha
P.S. I am a proud guy, and wanted to show off the face of the baby. Sue me. He's adorable. He has a rough life, so I won't bore you with the details, but the wife and I help take care of him.

  • AMD X6 1090T problems with 790GX-G65 Board

I've been tinkering at this for a week now and I really don't know what to do at this point. I just got the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T and tried it in an MSi 790GX-G65 mainboard. I can't seem to get a clock speed beyond 804Mhz. A PerformanceTest benchmark for this CPU is currently 1856 (when it should be between 6500-7000).
The question I have is this. Is there anything I can do in the BIOS manually to bring the CPU settings to where their supposed to be?
In the BIOS, the CPU ratio is set to auto and the adjusted frequency reads 2300. When I set the multiplier to x16 (adj freq. 3200), there's no difference in either the operating speed or benchmark performance. What can I do? What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the response, TN
    I'm running BIOS v4.0. I hear there's a 4.15, but I haven't been able to install it.
I called MSi Tech support and asked how I could get an update and the person on the phone sent me a beta version. But it's not x64 friendly, it seems. Maybe I did something wrong. But the CPU does work with the board. I just needed to manually set the ratios and voltage levels. I was able to do it with AMD overdrive.
