Amd proprietary drivers settings wont save

I'm trying to set up a multi monitor setup
The bastard did save my antialiasing setting (On unless application specifies, default is off unless application specifies)
But its not saving my multi-display settings, if i try to run the administrative catalyst control center console as the shortcut does
amdxdg-su -c amdcccle
amdxdg-su: no graphical method available for invoking 'amdcccle' as 'root'
what can i do?
also just running amdcccle as root (after doing su) wont work, if you thought of that.

Found somewhat of a workaround, not perfect but it partially works.
if i run amdcccle as su and change the multi-display settings, then go into my window manager's display settings and save them (to make xrandr save settings) it'll work
But after doing it a few times my driveres broke and eventually messing with the options in xorg.conf led to kernel panics and whatnot (how can a X11 config file lead to kernel panics upon reboot/shutdown when X isn't even running ?!).
Which i fixed with this workaround.
aticonfig -f --initial --adapter=all
aticonfig --px-igpu
aticonfig --xinerama=on
which pretty much made my dual screen display work, with the exception that i can't have my secondary monitor on the left side either because i'm so noob or because xfce wont allow it... or because X simply likes to align everything to the screen on the left. not sure.
Seeing as my second screen is a CRT tv... i can't really live with having my panel and desktop shortcuts on it
Edit: Later on i realized its a better idea to just use xrandr instead of xinerama.

please redirect me and delete this one if im wrong
ok so this is what happend
i started playing a game but it was said to set the storage to unlimited which i did
once i closed the browser the flash player settings reset (themselves?) ... all of them besides global BUT global didnt even seem to work
it seemed like the individual setting for all tabs are reseting every time back to global
but even if i set global to unlimited it still does not work
i tried it with both browsers
i talked with other people and the developer of the game but i seem the only one with this problem so its probably not a bug or something

    Hi Ecnelis,
Go to the below location on your machine.
    C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserName>\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys
You will find some folders and a file named settings.sol
Try to create a new dummy file in the above directory e.g. test.txt or test.sol
    Can you successfully do that?
If yes, delete the settings.sol file from there and try the FP Settings Manager again. Can you now make the changes?
If still not, please provide the settings.sol file that is in that directory (It will be recreated once you access settings manager again in browser and close).
    Cheers

  • Settings Wont Save on E1000, Help me?

Im trying to get an open NAT so im at the Port Range Forwarding and i type in all the info and enable it and i click save. It says the save was sucessful but when i look at it again, it reverted back to default so its completely empty. i did the same with the Single Port Forwarding and it did the same thing. any help?
    My router is Linksys E1000
So no matter how much times i type it in and save, it gets cleared so i cant  open my NAT

Try upgrading your router. Go to this link  to do the upgrade.
Once you have finished upgrading the firmware, try opening the port again. This link will help you with it.
    Hope this helps!

  • [SOLVED]Are X11 and AMD catalyst drivers friends again?

last time i installed linux on my laptop X11 had dropped support fro amd catalyst drivers (proprietary video card drivers), did amd do something about it? did X11 team reconsider? can i use the catalyst drivers on X11 again now?  my laptop and it's stupid APU or "dual graphics" aren't playing so nice with the open source radeon drivers.
Last edited by rabcor (2013-06-20 19:16:00)

If wine supported skype, i would be more dead set on using linux than using the amd proprietary drivers.
The reason this isn't a big deal to me is mostly because i only use this laptop for 3 things, regardless of OS. Teamspeak 3, Skype, Playing Videos.
I have it set up on a dual boot because neither windows nor linux seem to be reliable on this laptop, the reason is hardware-side, this APU is driving me nuts.
The reason i'm having problems with the radeon drivers is that even if i set my computer to disable the "switchable graphics" on boot it sometimes seems to randomly re-enable it without even notifying me. The reason this is bad is because the switchable graphics cause my laptopt to overheat. If this happens in windows it usually just enters hibernation mode while the heat levels are just barely critical, in linux however it keeps running for a while at critical levels before it'll finally just overeat. I'm hoping that the AMD proprietary drivers can help me solve this on the linux side.
Whichever operating system i can manage to make stop ever using the switchable graphics (thus preventing all overheating) will be the one i will use in the end, but i'm not in any big rush, windows is working decently for me on the laptop right now, and i can patiently wait for the amd proprietary drivers to support X again, since i  don't interact much with the computer at all anyways. Using linux would mostly just be to make the laptop look better. Linux seems to be the more likely one to succeed with this task in the end however (because i can optimize/customize it a whole lot more than i ever could windows, and because i'm scared of updating the catalyst drivers in windows because my laptop has often just completely broken upon catalyst driver update in windows.)

  • Settings changed wont save after reboot

Any changes that i do in my Mac, wont save after reboot.
If i change the settings on my mouse (unchecking Scroll direction) next time i reboot, it will be checked again.
Any changes that i do to my Finder sidebar (like adding My Main Drive not visible, add downloads and pictures, change the foler view as columns) they are all gone after i reboot. Its getting freakin anoying. I Google for a solution but to find none.
When trying to opening Calender, it says that i dont have permission. I have gone to the application and checked and made sure that all acounts have r/w permissions.
On the Dock, i uninstalled an app and next reboot i will get a question mark, even tho i removed it before it comes back after the reboot.
    Thanks for listening.

May sound silly, but are you sure you're not logging in as the 'Guest' user? What privileges does the user account you're using have? Check in
     > System Preferences... Users & Groups
that the account you're using is Admin. If you're using a Standard account, are parental controls enabled?
If you are admin, try resetting your permissions and removing the sys pref property file. Before you do that, backup your system and user data. Once you're backed up, open Terminal and copy/paste the following into the Terminal window:
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
hit 'return'. If the prompt returns without an error (as it should), paste this
    sudo chown -R `id -un` ~
hit 'return'. Enter your password as requested, but type carefully as it will be invisible while you do.
This will take a while, but after the command finishes (i.e., when the prompt returns), restart the mac.
After the restart, set the mac up the way you want, then test whether the problem is fixed by restarting again to see if your changes were kept.

  • AMD/ATI Drivers: Cannot startx / startxfce4 [SOLVED]

Hi, so basically I followed the instructions at the official ArchWiki to install the drivers for my AMD 270X, and everything was working fine.  I was having some hardware troubles, long story short I ended up moving the card from one PCIE slot to the other.  After that I started having problems.  I now cannot startx, and cannot get any graphical login or anything of that nature.  *Note* - the card itself is working, and runs fine in my windows partition (I am dual-booting). Anyway, any help would be nice, I'm a little stuck at the moment. Thanks!
    fglrx module is loaded.
nomodeset is added to kernel parameters at boot.
I tried doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of the drivers as per the wiki with a "pacman -Rdd catalyst-utils lib32-catalyst-utils", as well as trying again manually uninstalling each package. I made sure to remove the fglrx module as well.

My novice eyes tell me there's something wrong with your xorg.conf. Have you tried
    # aticonfig --initial -f
    especially after reinstalling?
    For more info:
    $ aticonfig -h

  • Image wont save as it looks in photoshop.

I'm a pretty amateur user of photoshop, but I've been having this problem with an image I'm working on; it wont save as it looks in photoshop.
Basically, this is what I'm looking at when the psd file is open in Photoshop:
This is how I would like the image to look when I save it. However, when I save it as a JPEG (or any other format for that matter) it looks like this:
The saved image is a JPEG file with a resolution of 500x500, the image I'm working with in photoshop has an image size of 7000x7000. Also, the image seems to produce different results when saved at different resolutions. It's very confusing.
    Here is my layers also:
I am also using a Halftone filter set to subtract on this image, giving the image the lines across the image (shown here as layer 1).
Anyone have any idea why this is happening and/or what I'm doing wrong?

There's no reason an image should be downsampled upon saving (from 7000 to 500 pixels), unless you specifically tell it to using the Image Size dialog. The only exception I can think of is if you use Save For Web, which has a number of default settings you should keep an eye on. But a 7000 pixel image has no business on the web anyway (that's w a y too big).
Resampling will obviously affect an image like this (with the line screen) in a number of ways. You should only work on this at the final intended pixel size.

  • [SOLVED] AMD/ATI Drivers crashing on startx

I ordered parts to build a new HTPC that just arrived today. I built it and got arch up and running without much trouble but I hit a snag when I started trying to get X up and running (isn't this always when things seems to go wrong? lol) The board has an AMD E350 with Radeon HD 6310 graphics and from things I've read around the web, I'm going to need proprietary drivers to get good smooth HD playback. I followed instructions on the ATI Catalyst page of the Arch Wiki and added
    [catalyst]
    Server = http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/repo/catalyst/$arch
to my /etc/pacman.conf file then installed all the drivers through pacman. Now when I run startx i get

    Install an appropriate graphics driver.

I did a quick Google and also searched on the forum but didn't see anything relevant to my card so I was wondering if anyone else could point me in the right direction.
    Thanks

I actually hadn't done either. I just did both and rebooted and xbmc opened no problem! thanks. I didn't know I needed to manually add flgrx to the rc.conf file.
Also what exactly does adding "nomodset" to grub do?
Also running startx still gives me this:

  • Cisco Access Point Air-Lap1242: It wont save config

    Hi
I have 2 Air-Lap1242 that wont save their config after reboot.
They are managed by a WLC (4404) and it all seems pretty fine and dandy, but when i reboot them, they dont want to save anything.
I am setting them up as bridges (mesh), and it works until i reboot them, then I have to do it all over again.
Using CLI to type in "write mem" or "copy running-config startup-config" only results in:
    "Building configuration... [OK] ->
    NVRAM Verification Failed "
Anyone who has any sort of solutions to this? Ive tried to google hard on the subject, but didnt get any wiser.

When the AP joins the controller, I set up the settings for its intended use, in this example a bridge. (one ap as root, one as mesh).
After everything is filled out, i reload the ap's and all is good. Then i fill in the "mesh"-folder that appears after reload and reload the Ap and once again all is saved on the Ap. If I disconnect the power to them, both Ap's return to factory default.

  • Photoshop wont save actions, I create,

my hard drive was just replaced and the data and applications were all transferred over, now photoshop wont save new actions or presets I create, it says I dont have permission. Not sure what to do, I dont really want to have to reinstall everything if there is a quick fix.

okay so thanks to everyone for your help between this information and some other I found online I got it sorted, my library folder wasnt showing up, I have just also recently upgraded to maverick os, so the library folder show up you need to unhide it, this was a great source telling me how to do that http://www.macworld.com/article/2057221/how-to-view-the-library-folder-in-mavericks.html
then I just went into the user/library/adobe cs5 settings/ and changed the preferences so I was the owner of that folder.
