AMD Radeon 7950 Fan is way too loud

Hello,
I recently bought a new, non-flashed AMD Radeon 7950 GPU for my 4,1 Early 2009 Mac Pro, and ever since I put it in my computer has been much louder than it should be. It used to be almost completely silent, but now it is loud all the time, in particular when I play games or edit videos, aka GPU intensive tasks. I've seen other people having this issue too, but none of the forums I saw had a solution on them, I was wondering if someone could help me out.

Have a look at your "About this Mac". If you don't flash the 7950, the card will be reported as an AMD 7xxx and not a 7950. That means the driver is generic and will leave the card on its default settings. Which in turn means the fans will assume the worst and stay spinning.

I have a MEX-BT4000P Bluetooth Audio System.  The subwoofer is always way too loud, even when the volume is turned way down.  I need to know how I can reduce the bass for the subwoofer.
    Thx, Scott

Hi Scott! Are you using the rear speakers as subwoofer? If yes, you can adjust the Rear Bass Enhancer (page 34 of the manual).

  • Audio way too loud...it seems?

I imported a track into FCP however it seems significantly louder than my vox pops.
When I bed it down below my vox pops it seems to drown them out. I have lowered the tracks level to -32db which seems excessive, and on my meters its barely visible but it continues to be heard.
I usually have my backing audio at around -22 to -18 but this is just way too loud, not sure why this is or how to improve it without lowering the levels massively?
Should i go by the meters or my ears?Any help would be great

At what level are your vox pops sitting on the meters? They should be hovering around your reference level (usually -12 or -18dB).
If you've got very low level on your recorded audio, and you've then turned up the speaker volume to compensate then an imported CD track will be deafening.
First confirm that the vox pops are sitting at a sensible level on the meters (peaking at around 6-8dBs above your reference level) then adjust your speaker volume to be comfortable, then adjust the imported track's level so that it sounds right under the vox pops.

  • Topsify ad way too loud

I know there have been multiple posts about loud ads, but this latest topsify ad is ridiculous! Every time this ad comes on I have to rip my headphones off before my ears start bleeding! It is EXTREMELY loud compared to the actual music. This is on a Desktop with the setting "Set the same volume level for all tracks" turned on. I appreciate you want free users to subscribe, but you are gonna actually damage your users' hearing! Please turn down the volume on this ad, or you may become subject to lawsuits from users who have lost their hearing. Andrew

I'm here just to bump this topic, since, at least the Belgian one, isn't fixed yet. It is SO darn LOUD, as a gamer who just likes his music in the background, suddenly the darn horrible BLEEEPEPEEPEPPEPEP TOPSIFY BELGIUM TOP 40 WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL. I once threw my headset on the ground while gaming just because it was way too loud and I didn't have time to put my sound off and jesus it was just a reaction but it's horrible.

  • X6 wake-up alarm sound getting way too loud

    Hi.
First post here, and think last 'cause I haven't found any annoyances besides this.
Using X6 as an alarm clock for everyday wake up call.
The alarm sound just keeps getting too loud that it comes an annoyance in a few seconds (I tend to keep X6 next to me on a bedside table).
Have searched from the phone, but is it so that the Clock alarm "Ringing type" can not be changed as one can change the Incoming call ringing type in Profiles-section (possibilities are here: Ringing, Ascending, Ring once, Beep once, Silent)?
Seems so that those two mentioned aren't even connected to each other, so that if I set Incoming call ringing type as Ringing, still to no avail, because this doesn't affect Clock alarm in any ways (and Clock alarms in Ascending-type).
    Any advice on this?
(And could someone tell me, why this has been designed as is now?)
    Cheers

wow people normally complain its to low
the volume for an alarm tone is standard it cant be altered the only thing possible is to select another tone thats not high pitched
you can change the alarm tone by going to clock icon then open this and go to settings here you can change the tone
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Vibration is way too loud

I purchased my Curve just a little over 3 months ago, and until now everything has been working great, or at least I thought it was. When I first started using my Curve, I noticed that the vibrate profile on the phone was quite loud and harsh, but as I had never own a Blackberry before, I figured thats just how the phone was. Recently, I've been around a few other people who have the exact same phone but what really caught my attention, was that when their phone would vibrate it was substantially softer and seemed more like an appropriate volume. So I played around with the phone, did some researched, altered any settings that I could, even tried combonations of settings to see if there was anything out of place, but ended up with no luck. After seeing 3 other Curves with the same vibrate intensity, all much less than mine, I made a trip back into the AT&T store where I purchased the phone. One of the associates took a look at the phone, again, played around with the settings, tried changing profiles and functions, and again, all he could produce was the extremely loud and harsh vibrate, which even the associate noted as "out of the normal range". I then was redirected to the warranty exchange for AT&T and contacted them about having the phone exchanged. After spending a good amount of time speaking to different people, I was given the simple answer that, the abnormal intensity of the vibrate feature was not going to be exchanged as it did not effect the actual usage of the phone. On top of that, there had been no records of any similar complaints registered.
So unsatisfied and rather annoyed, I find myself here hoping that someone or something will be able to shed an ounce of light on my situation. I understand that just because a phone vibrates loudly does not mean that the phone does not work, however, at this point, the volume of the vibrate is so intense that it is actually louder than the ringtone itself. What is the point of having a vibrate feature if it is more of a disturbance than the loud ringtone itself. So again, although it does not effect my calls, it's still essentially disabling the vibrate feature from my phone.
If anyone can provide me with any solutions, guides, walkthroughs or help to fix this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Again, as a recap, it's not that the volume is too loud, or that I have the wrong profile selected, the motor inside the phone that causes the vibrations just seems to have been tuned tighter than it should have been. If there is nothing that I can do myself as far as solving the solution, than any information on how I could go about having the phone fixed through the manufacture's warranty would be great.

  • Update to 10.4.7 the fan has become too loud!

    Hello,
Other than “waiting out” the next update or reinstalling everything on my computer, is there a remedy for the loud fan noise which has come as a result of the latest update? I have changed neither the way I work nor have I added additional soft/hardware. It is awful!
    Thank you,
    Nanette

    Hi
Really doubt the upgrade should cause this problem ; well it hasn't done that on my mini which is still working the same ...
Maybe this upgrade didn't happened as it should be ; I think you should consider reinstal original OS, check if the fan is still loud , and make the upgrade again...
But before that, try to reset the SMC (system management controller) as described here : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446-en . The SMC is the chip that controls power management (i.e the fan too), so ths may help...

  • Macbook Pro WAY TOO LOUD

Sorry for the Caps-attack in the subject, but it's all too true. Any time I plug in headphones, the sound is painfully loud at the lowest volume setting. On video games and video players, this is usually fine (I can lower the volume through in game settings or on the player) but occasionally a flash animation will temporarily deafen me, and I have no way to avoid it but to close the tab.
Anyone else running into this problem?

  • Speakers WAY Too Loud!

The speakers in my iMac G3 (summer 2000) Are louder than normal. When my iMac's sound level is on the 1st notch it is really loud, it sounds like it's on the 8th notch compared to my other computer. It sounded like this when I had Mac OS 9 and it still (After being upgraded to mac OS 10.3.9) Sounds Like this. Is there any way I can "Calibrate" the speakers and make it sound normal again? Thanks. -Trevor
    iMac G3 Summer 2000   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Okay,
Try logging in as another user. Is the sound still very loud?
Try deleting the sound preference files. I'm at work at the moment so I'm working from memory... so please excuse any errors:
Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > then delete the few files that could be sound related. (They will be in the format com.apple.systempreferences.plist or com.apple.Finder.plist and they will automatically re-generate).
What happens if you plug in a pair of headphones - it the sound still at a reasonable level? (take care when doing this!).
If worst comes to the worst you may have to invest in a cheap pair of speakers...

  • Satellite A300-1DB CPU Fan is annoying, too loud

    Hi all,
I bought a Toshiba Satellite A300-1DB today in a German (580 Euro) and i really like the notebook design and performance, but there is one big problem I can't bear anymore (and I just used it for 2 hours).
The CPU Fan on the left side of notebook is so annoyning: Even if I keep the notebook idle (CPU activity is very low, just under 10% and 1 gb ram used), the CPU fan keeps spinning for one minute really really loudly.
After that there is silence, such a beautiful silence.... for 2 minutes. And then the whole procedure starts over and over again. Just cold air comes out.
Thats drive me crazy, the CPU Fan in the idle modus is louder than my other Satellite A210-106 Turion X2-52 L with full CPU activity. I wish to have a CPU fan that keeps spinning in a low sound.
Do you have any ideas how to control the fan????
Otherwise i must try to replace it with another Notebook (I hope that they allow that, unfortunatly it isn't a Internet shop where you can send it back until 14 days)
    Regards,
    Dieter

I have managed this successfully using balanced power plan and using Battery optimized option for Cooling method. This setting you can find under Advanced power settings > Toshiba Power Saver utility.

  • Power on or startup sound way too loud

When I turn on the computer, the startup chord, or tone, or chime, or whatever one calls that noise, is very loud. It is always loud, regardless of what volume I had been listening to music at shut down. It comes through the internal speakers only, and not the external speakers. It is loud regardless of at what level the tone notification volume is set. It's loud loud loud.
How does one adjust the volume of the start up sound?

You can take control of the startup chime with the Startup Sound preference pane.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/48992
    Also, do a PRAM reset after installing the pref pane;
    Reset the PRAM
    • (Re)start the computer
    • Immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys
    • Wait for two startup chimes
    • Release the keys and allow the computer to boot.

  • Macbook Pro way too loud when headphones plugged

    Hi
I've always had this problem, when I plug in any type of headphones, I must lower the volume to one - max two - "blocs" of volume, otherwise my head explodes. I unplug them, and I have normal volume range with the external speakers.
    Anyone has that problem too??
    thanks

    Anthony,
Have you learned anything more about this problem? I have the exact same issue. Headphones that work fine on an older Macbook Pro are deafening on the new (Mar. 2008) model.
I haven't had time to go down to an Apple store and see if it is the same on all machines.
