AMD Radeon HD 6490M Windows 8 - 64-bit Driver

Hi guys,
I have HP Pavilion DV6-6B51EA and curently I'm using licenced Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I tried upgrading to Windows 8 Release Preview but I can't install driver for my graphics card which is AMD Radeon HD 6490M.
The problem is I can't download and install drivers from AMD website, HP laptops can only use the drivers from their website, well, at least for the graphics cards.
So, I can't use Win 7 driver on Win 8. I would like to know is there any chance I can find a driver that will work, or can you tell me when will HP release new drivers for my latopt for Windows 8?

Hi. I tried to do that with the same download package on my Pavilion DV6 CTO Quad edition and it fails to install the driver because of a conflict with the C++ Redistributable 2010 package build into the installer. Does anyone know if HP is going to update the switchable graphic drivers for Windows 8? They better!

You said the magic words: Still under extended warranty. Take it in for evaluation and repair. That is not a normal situation. The display should not have to 'warm up'.

AMD Radeon 6770m and Intel HD 3000 Driver for Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit

Hi, I use
Laptop : HP Pavilion DV 6 - 6019 TX.
OS : Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit.
VGA : - AMD Radeon 6770m
- Intel HD 3000
Now, the graphic was error, each after booting, the windows logo appears then to black screen (can't get the desktop).
In device manager - display adapters, only AMD problem (Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), then I uninstall the driver to be able to install AMD drivers.
I tried with "14-4-mobility-win7-Win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-WHQL", it is said that the last AMD drivers, but when at the end of install, it said failed to complete.

1. In bios, do you found fixed and dynamic? if you don't found, install bios mod. Use dynamic
2. Uninstall all programs and drivers previously, before of "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Graphic Adapter WDDM1.3 - AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series" Release July 2014. You can use http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU, for example.
3. Do you install windows 8.1 on windows 8.0? do you use windows 8.1 fresh installation? Can you testing install a new copy of windows 8.0 fresh? install drivers and later install updates... or fresh install windows 8.1?
4. You testing install Windows 7 with http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe and update to windows 8?
5. You testing install http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe in windows 8 initially?

I finally found a fix that worked for the above Mac Mini 5,2 running Windows 7 64bit bootcamp. You need to uninstall all the boot camp AMD drivers and software first then install the :"AMD Catalyist 12.1 Preview Driver 32/64 bit". You will need to find "AMD Catalyist 12.1 Preview Driver 32/64 bit" somewhere other than AMD since they are no help at all and will just blame the other guy or redirect you to another dead end. Below is a link to the actual software I used that worked. Good Luck. You could always try to just install and update the currently installed software and drivers with the one below and that might also work.

How TO install Amd Graphis Drivers In 32-Bitt Windows 8 System???

See if this works. If it doesn't then you will need to install the supported operating system (W8.1 64 bit).
Download and run the W8.1 graphics driver from your model's support page...Close out of any error windows.

Go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters category. Click on the Standard VGA Adapter. Click on the Driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software method and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp67327. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way. Then reboot.

No Windows 64 bit Driver for GT30L SATA DVD Drive

I recently updated my compaq presario to Windows 8.1. I've been pleased with the change but Windows installed an incomaptible driver for my DVD drive. It installed the driver for the 32 bit OS. From what I've learned 32 bit drivers can't work in a 64 bit system. Here is a link where I discovered this:

15-n067sr problems with AMD Radeon HD 8670M (windows 8.1 x64)

below i'll explain the problem i'm experiencing.
I've decided to install Windows 8.1 x64 to this notebook model (15-n067sr). The problem is that ATI drivers which i download from HP support site doesn't allow me to install Display driver, it only installs OEM profile or something like that + Installer. No display driver, no CCC, not anything else. And it doesn't matter if i choose quick install or personalized. I've tried deleting all the ATI, Intel and chipset drivers and reinstalling them one by one. First chipset, then Intel and then ATI and still Installer won't let me setup any data which is needed for correct performance.
Anyway, i tried to install 14.9 Catalyst from AMD website, also tried beta drivers and actually they install correctly and i can switch between 2 video GPU's and everything seems fine EXCEPT ONE THING : the notebook won't come back from sleep mode , hybernation mode or when the display switches off. I've tried to manipulate with energy options , but still no result. With AMD display driver installed (from official website) the notebook never resumes correctly from these modes, i guess they just don't work at all, display just becomes black and nothing else happens.
Yes, i've updated my BIOS.
No, with these drivers from HP i can't switch between GPU's and only Intel GPU works actually, i've checked that in TechPower GPU-Z.
I guess i've tried everything possible, but if you can think of any other solution - please let me know, because i can either play games normally and use both GPU's but it's impossible to work with notebook, because sleep and hybernation modes doesn't work, either i can work without any problems, but my AMD GPU isn't avalible.

Thank you for your post, I will do my best to assist you!
I grasp you are having a difficulty with the switchable graphics on your notebook. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and using updated drivers but to no success.
Here is a link to the recommended drivers for your system.
HP Pavilion 15-n067sr Notebook PC Drivers
Download and save the Chipset, Intel and AMD drivers and save them on your desktop
Delete all three drivers
Install the Chipset driver
restart your notebook this is an important step
Now install the Intel driver and if prompted restart the notebook and finally install the last driver.

Very slow graphics when using AMD Radeon HD 6490M with Yosemite

I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro early 2011. When I switch to the GPU using gfxCardStatus (or because an app requires it), all graphics become very slow: window dragging, window miniaturize animation, moving the mouse in the menubar etc. 3D view in Maps.app is very slow. All is fine when using the integrated Intel HD 3000. I did not have this problem with Yosemite Developer Previews (I did not install the GMs), nor with Mavericks.
I tried using AMD kext from the DP, but things are worst (I suppose the kext are not loaded at all because the signature does not match).

Hi. I tried to do that with the same download package on my Pavilion DV6 CTO Quad edition and it fails to install the driver because of a conflict with the C++ Redistributable 2010 package build into the installer. Does anyone know if HP is going to update the switchable graphic drivers for Windows 8? They better!

Where did AMD Radeon HD 6490M come from?

Where can i access this? i didnt install this card and dont know where it came from....

Of course it was there. It didn't just appear. When you go to the Apple Store website and look at the tech specs for your model, it lists two video cards. Plain as day. Every review of your model on many different websites talks about the two graphics cards and the automatic graphics switching feature. Anyone who cares about graphics cards and buys this model knows it has two cards before they even buy the machine.

What evidence do you have that your GPU is being used for something out of your control? How have you determined that this is something outside of normal automatic graphics switching?

IMac 27" 2011 with Dead Graphic Card AMD Radeon HD 6970M

I'm from Thailand and my iMac 27" mid-2011 model is malfunctioning. I have windows 7 installed and I can use it only on safemode or when I disable the graphic card AMD Radeon HD 6970M. Updating the driver won't help at all.
I talked to the local iservice and he says it will cost me $570 just to replace this card. I find it very expensive.
Now I have learned that there is this replacement program http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5167 for the graphic card issue. I'd like to know if I am part of this. I'm not sure if I'm under any service coverage since it's been after many years of purchase.

You should be covered - usually replacement programs last for 3 years from the latest date of consumer purchase (when apple discontinues the model). This is typical, but by no means concrete as I have nothing to do with Apple or its replacement policies. Your model also meets those specifications. Since the replacement program is stated as wordwide, it should also be applicable in your country.

Radeon HD 6490M performance problem in Lion

I installed Lion in my 2011-early MacBook Pro (Core i7, 4GB, Radeon HD 6490M 256MB). When the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 is working, everything is fine. But when I switch to Radeon HD 6490M, graphic performance seems so bad that even swiping between spaces becomes very unsmooth, just like very low FPS in 3D games.

I have a Lion running on a new MacBook Pro 15", early 2011 model, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB, and I'm a little dissapointed in the graphics performance. Like you, I'm seeing what appears to be low FPS, which is exhibited mostly noticeably in window resizing: there's a lot of stuttering and lag. Yesterday I played around with the high-end MacBook Pro with the AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics cards. I noticed that the display unit was set to always use the advanced card--in fact, in systems prefs, I could not change it to default auto switching. Windows resizing was noticeabley smoother and responsive on this unit. On my MacBook, I see no difference between using the onboard HD 3000 graphics support and the advanced 6490M card--at least in terms of window resizing. Not sure what this adds to the conversation, but here you go!

I removed extension files (.kext) of AMD Radeon after following a unhelpful tutorial, how can I get these files back?

If they are in the trash, you can simply control click on the file and select >Put Back

But new games require newest version of driver for videocard.
I tried install ATI CATALYST and install new video drivers, but it is impossible, cuz i have apple architecture of hardware.
Last version of bootcamp(5.0.33) have old version of driver (12.8).
I have to install 13.9 or later.
Please, help me!

AMD Radeon HD 6470M Not working-on Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit -"Hp Pavilion g6 series "

I am now using Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit .the display drivers are not working good. i cant use properly Adobe Photoshop(CC , CS5..etc).

Install the newest Windows 8 (64-bit) driver for your notebook only from the HP web support download section.
uninstall the drivers for both adapters and the Catalyst Control Center by running the softpaq and choosing uninstall all. Once you have done that run the installer again and (select install all) install the Catalyst Control Center and the drivers.
The switchable graphics capability makes your notebook require the drivers from HP to achieve the switchable graphics capability.

I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version 13.152.0.0. When I activate puppet warp, the mesh appears over the image and I can place the first pin. However, when I go to add the second pin, Photoshop crashes. I have tried with on a new, blank file, with just a few lines on it, but, as soon as I place the first pin, the image disappears, and then, as soon as I click anywhere else in the image, Photoshop crashes. I have followed all the online advice about settings under the Preferences/Performance interface, but nothing fixes the problem. Can anyone please help?
